First I want to say that I absolutely love that this is a black owed family business. It is quaint with pleasant staff and oh so great food. Living in the San Gabriel Valley I as well as family members so often crave Soul Food (comfort food). We have lamented the lack of a variety of food that connects our community. I graduated from APU how did I not know that this cafe was so close? We ordered the Chicken and Waffles and they were done if the best I've had. Well seasoned and oh so good. There were several people here today and they too were first timers. And honestly every last raved about the food. As I write this I'm seeing random people expressing their "compliments to the chef". BB's is a small dine-in or take-out place and we decided to dine in. The menu is pleasantly small, straight forward, and has the delightful essentials of a "chicken and waffles" place. We were greeted immediately with a "good morning" and smile from the hostess. Love that ! We ordered the waffle with chicken wings. And this place did not disappoint! It's the tiniest little place at the end of downtown Covina. I've passed by this place for years but I have never given this place a try. I came here on a Sunday with my friend around 11am. This place is so tiny that it only has 3 tables and they were all full. We ordered with the lady in the front counter and got 2 orders of chicken and waffles and got a hot link breakfast burrito and an macaroni and cheese to share :). The chicken and waffles were the perfect pairing of sweet and salty. The fried chicken however, really was one of the best fried chickens I've ever had in my life. The batter was perfectly seasoned and had the crispiest skin. It's different from any other fried chicken I've had and still tops it all. The macaroni and cheese was my favorite part I think. The macaroni itself still a little al dente and had a good bite to it. It was super cheesy and gooey and had those really good crispy parts to it like a traditional homemade mac and cheese has :) I haven't seen really any business with 5 stars before and you can totally tell why this one does. Firstly, all I have to say is GAH DAMN!! This place has done everything right. BB's straight up decimating the game. The food is not just good, it's DANGEROUS! If I lived any closer, I'd have to put up a mortgage on my house because of the money I'd spend here. What can I say about the food that hasn't been said in other reviews, delicious, authentic, moist, and most importantly she gives you more than enough to be full for the next couple of days. I personally got the fried catfish with collard greens and fried okra, but then I went ahead and got an additional side of wings and let me tell you, all was delicious. There were these fried corn fritters also in my box, which were incredible. Just a side note about the place and the staff, it's a cute hole in the wall, but it honestly makes you feel like this is your momma's house and she's just giving you a lot of love and food. We can here for breakfast. I wasnt sure what to expect as ive passed by many times driving down citrus, its on the corner of citrus and san bernardino and easy to miss. Its a small spot with a few chairs. No restroom. The breafast menu is packed since it closes at 2pm and closed on monday and tuesday. They do have lunch items like catfish and pulled pork and hot link sandwiches. We ordered the bacon and waffle and the chicken and waffle. The waffle was really good. I dont usually put syrup on my waffle and this hit just right. Also, they use real butter, thats the key. My bf loved the chicken so much, he placed another order. LOCATION - Nestled at the end of a quiet Downtown Covina, the cafe itself is fairly small, having about 3 tables inside. From other reviews, they do outside seating but I didn't see that this time around. Nothing crazy charming about the location itself, which is why it doesn't receive the full 5 stars from me. FOOD - Open only during breakfast and early lunch hours, the food here is very good! This was my first time trying it out and I was not disappointed. The menu is small, comprising really of only Chicken & Waffles and Burritos but they have a home run with these choices. The chicken is more like wings but crispy and flavorful on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside. The waffle itself is fluffy and the whipped butter comes in nicely, adding the final touch. Syrup isn't really needed, which is a nice surprise. I also ordered the Potato Burrito (no meat), and the potatoes had a crispy, hash brown-type taste to them and the eggs were nice and fluffy. Definitely something I'd go back for. I did notice that they also sell homemade Kool Aide, which is awesome! I didn't get to try it but I definitely will the next time. This a must try place if you're okay with a smaller menu. SERVICE - Top notch customer service from start to finish. Very down to earth employees, that make you feel at home. read more
