This is not a Chinese/Korean restaurant. It's just simply a Chinese restaurant that has some Korean dishes. There's mostly Chinese food, and they give you only 2 small side dishes. When I went inside, I was ready to be seated. What's funny is that the waiter walked me halfway through to my table, I was utterly confused as to which table I was supposed to sit at because the waiter barely walked me there and then he walked away. For over five years, this has been my favorite place whenever I crave jjajangmyun. Today, my family had lunch before doing some Korean grocery shopping and we were extremely happy with the food, the service, and the excellent outdoor dining set-up. We ordered the honey nut prawns, two bowls of jjajangmyun and two bowls of ganjjajang (freshly stir-fried version with ton of onions) with seafood. Everything was fresh and delicious. The disposable bowls, albeit not ideal, were convenient and the perfect size for the meal. The outdoor tent is spacious with plenty of room between the tables. The cashier gave us a large table cover made of single use paper. The station near the cashier had all the utensils, napkins, and the complementary self-serve tea. The staff was very friendly and helpful as well. Parking is always plentiful and the prices are very reasonable. For this type of food, having freshly made food immediately out of the kitchen (instead of picking up or having it delivered) is the key so the nice outdoor dining set-up is definitely what will get me back again soon. read more

Initially I felt like the spicy seafood noodle was a little different than most other Chinese Korean places, but it was that subtle difference that got me hooked! Very generous portion for a great price. It has barely been a month and I have already gone back 3 times! Their tang su yuk is also a little different. In the bay, there are options in Oakland and Santa Clara, but they are definitely fewer. I'm happy to say that these black bean noodles are great! Whenever I'm in Santa Clara, I stop by. Paik's noodle is strong competition, but Beijing Restaurant's noodles are just as chewy and the extra helping of diced pork edges them into #1 in my book. Their order is also a little larger and a better size for sharing IMO. We also got the gganpung sae-u (fried shrimp with spicy sauce) which was really good! Been looking for a place that does a good one since we moved up from SoCal aka Korean food heaven a few years ago, and Beijing Restaurant does the best one yet. (The floor near the AC is soaked so be careful) We easily ordered and paid via the QR code/app. We ordered wor wonton soup, mushu pork, sweet and sour pork Beijing style, mixed vegetables, kung pao shrimp, ja jjang myun, and chicken chow mein. 3.5 rounded down We checked out this place after getting sick of homemade meals and ordered the sweet and sour pork (tangsuyuk), jjajangmyun, and the jellyfish dish. I loved the last one as it really satisfied my craving but wasn't the biggest fan of the other two dishes. It may be due to the sheer fact that I have a taste palate already in mind when I think about tangsuyuk and jjajangmyun; these dishes just did not match. I had anticipated the taste from Paik's Noodles tbh but it's definitely a different style. The noodles sauce was way too salty for me and I think it would have been nice if they packed the pork separate from the sauce, as it did get slightly soggy. My boyfriend really enjoyed it, mentioning that it tastes more authentically Chinese-Korean, whatever that means. They are really fast and phone orders are generally ready within 20 min! Its normally pretty good but past Saturday when we ordered, it was so terrible that I vowed never to order from this place again. he glass noodles seemed like it was cooked prior and just mixed in with the dish cold. Result was the noodles tasted like plastic. They are supposed to be soft chewy but they were far from that. I understand that they were busy when I picked up the food but they should not let this type of quality get out to the customers. Thing is you can't blame the front house staff as the noodles are usually at the bottom of the dish. This has to start with the kitchen staff. Maybe they got busy and lazy so they just used a left over stuff that they had cooked before. If you're looking for jjajangmyun (Korean rendition of Chinese black bean sauce noodles), this is the place. I drove all the way down from Berkeley because there's not any great jjajangmyun in Alameda county. It was 3pm on a Saturday and the place was busy, but no line. I ordered the seafood gan jjajang. ("Dry sauce") instead of the regular version which has a gravy-like sauce. My sister ordered jampong (spicy seafood noodle soup). We also got tangsuyuk (Beijing style sweet and sour pork). Everything was really good. The jjajangmyun was soooo good, just like what I grew up with in Korea. The noodles are house-made - crazy long strands that you have to cut in order to share - springy and chewy. Generous amount of shrimp and squid in the black bean sauce, which had lots of umami and "wok'd" flavor, and in the jampong noodle soup. When I asked for more noodles they brought out a good portion and didn't charge for it. The tangsuyuk was crispy, and the sauce was well balanced - not too sweet, not too sour, and not gummy at all like some places They also gave us pickled radish and kimchi on the side, and some yummy candied sweet potato pieces with the check. Authentic Korean version of Chinese food. Normally we get the jja jang myun and yang su yuk, but decided to get jamppong. The spicy level on the jamppong was on point, and the amount of seafood balanced the noodles. Also, the tang su yuk here is nicely fried that it's crispy, but not oily. The spicy seafood noodles were solid in spiciness level as well. The sweet and sour pork was an older style with --I think --a cornstarch fried exterior that was crunchy, and contrasted with the viscous sweet/sour sauce. That was way too much food for us so we ended up just taking a bunch of food home to go. When we went they had outdoor seating available in a tent area but they said they were opening up indoor dining on July 1st. The workers were very attentive and kind to us. The food selection was good. There was a large menu with Korean and Chinese dishes. They also provided kimchi and korean yellow radish for free at the table. My favorite dishes included the black bean noodles, sweet & sour soup, honey walnut shrimp, broccoli beef, and scallops. The food came out in a timely manner and seemed to use fresh ingredients. The food is a little on the pricey side but you get what you pay for! Overall the food was delicious and workers were really nice. This is my second time trying Beijing Restaurant and this review will be for my dining-in experience. The wife and I came for lunch recently and we were surprised they stopped their lunch specials. Ended up ordering from the dinner menu which wasn't ideal as the portions were much larger and pricier than lunch. We ended up getting the jjajang myun (black bean noodle) chicken fried rice and kangpunggi (deep fried chicken in hot sauce). We did our best to finish the noodles as they don't hold up well after being mixed with the jjajang sauce if you decide to take home leftovers. The other dishes we took home and were still tasty after reheating. I think the jjajang myun is definitely the highlight for this place. The jjajang sauce is much more flavorful than Paik's Noodles and not too salty or oily. Not sure if the noodles are hand pulled but it was the right amount of chewy and freshness. Pro-tip #1 - for the kangpunggi be sure to get the bone-in version as the boneless one has less meat and is more like chicken fries. See pic for when I got the boneless version for delivery. Be prepared for the spicy sauce that it comes in. I dropped a star because of the removal of the lunch menu and also because I never got the side of jjampong soup that should come with the fried rice. The staff mentioned they couldn't provide this because no one else in the restaurant was ordering jjampong noodles and so they did not have extra soup available. Very weird as I saw a few people who did get the jjampong noodles. I'll have it try it next time. Pro tip #2 - Dining-in is highly recommended as there is outdoor seating available because the noodles get clumped together during the ride home if you do takeout. The takeout portions also seemed much smaller. See pic. Lastly, be sure to save room for your free dessert - Matang, a very delicious candied sweet potato snack. It is basically chunks of fried sweet potato coated in translucent hot brown syrup. They are sweet and super crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Overall I enjoyed my lunch and the staff were friendly. I'll come back again for the jjajang myun as it's definitely as good as the ones I had in LA's ktown.
