Beijing Restaurant was a disappointment. Lunch was too expensive -- $46 for two. The worst part is they bring the food to outdoor diners (under a tent) in plastic containers with lids. That was unappealing to my friend and me. The Mongolian beef was not tasty. They brought the sweet and sour pork in two different containers. At first I thought they were just serving pork by itself. It was not until I was halfway through the meal that I realized they intended for me to mix the vegetables with the pork. The presentation was just awful. Price was too expensive. The employee should have opened all the containers and explained stuff or mixed stuff. My friend and I really enjoy drinking ice water with lunch, but Beijing Restaurant did not have that! Nice Chinese-Korean food, we got J1 (regular) jjajangmyeon, J3 jjamppong, G8 tangsooyook, and beef with chive and bean curd. Everything was pretty good, I think there is probably better but it was all yummy. The candied sweet potato they give for free at the end is really good too. First time. Came on a Friday night at 6:00 - the place was nearly empty but 30 minutes after we arrived, every table was full. Clean and inviting interior - has a nice, classy feel to it. They have a party room that you can reserve for your group or special occasion dinner. Kimchee was served up front and was fresh and tasty - so tasty I wanted to order some to go. Service was good - our waiter had good communication skills and was excited to give us his personal recommendations off the menu. FRIED SHRIMP W/PEPPER SAUCE (5/5) This was done so well. There's nothing else on the plate except shrimp, so it's definitely the star. The sauce is used sparingly, just enough to give it some flavor and heat. I wish it was spicier but even so we all loved this dish. Will order again - I still remember the order number - it's listed as H-11 on the menu. :) SWEET & SOUR PORK (4/5) This was a pretty solid dish. The pork has great crunch and chew - and the sweet sauce makes it hard to eat just a few bites. Mostly pork w/a few pieces of pineapple. MONGOLIAN BEEF W/CHINESE BUNS (4/5). Served with those soft, Chinese bao buns, the idea is to stuff the buns with the Mongolian beef mixture. It's a great combination. The buns were so good that, toward the end of the meal, I found myself eating them plain, without any filling. BLACK BEAN NOODLE (5/5) I've had my share of black bean noodle at different restaurants across the Bay Area. This one ranks right up there. Their sauce isn't as strong or pungent as it's served in most places. The noodles were al dente and chewy and paired perfectly with the sauce. This was one of my favorite dishes on the table. Beijing instantly became my favorite restaurant for Korean/Chinese. Go for the Fried Shrimp, the Black Bean Noodle and the KimChee. But their menu is extensive, goes on for days - so I'm sure you'll find something you like. I like this place a lot! read more

I'm a huge fan of the jjamppong here. It's got a great level of spice and kick without being too overwhelming. I want to write about the jajjangmyun, but I can't remember if I've had theirs. I do enjoy the tangsuyuk as well, but I wish they would combine the pork and the sauce, because whenever I'm here eating with friends, I don't love the idea of having to dip the pork into the sauce without the risk of double dipping. I still all in all enjoy it here and would recommend it to anyone who asks. read more

I could say a lot of good things about this place but I will focus on my primary purpose for going here and returning often: 해물짜장면 Seafood Black bean, hand pulled noodles. This is one of my favorite dishes and this place does it right. We can argue about what's more important: the sauce or the noodles...For me if both aren't superb, I'll have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, thanks anyway... The noodles are fresh, with the elasticity and texture only possible with fresh noodles. The sauce is rich, not too salty, slightly crunchy onion, shrimp, and I choose the option of sauce on the side so I mix it up with the noodles myself. The menu includes a very good selection of other enticing dishes and, every time I go I promise myself I'll explore further but ....I can't resist my 해물짜장면 and end up ordering my usual. In all honesty, I have not tried too many dishes from this restaurant and the one item that I truly enjoy is the Seafood Jajangmyeon (or Dry Fried Black Bean Seafood Noodle Plate J14). The price is OK but I expected just a little more. The noodles are excellent and the sauce was perfect. I ordered take out using the Yelp platform and it was easy and quick to use. Even though this is a short review I will get back to try more dishes. I ordered the noodles as non-spicy and used my homemade chili sambal sauce which turned out to be yum. This is my favorite Chinese/Korean restaurant thus far! Located next to The Halford behind Burger King off of El Camino is this gem tucked away in the corner! We walk here because it's right down the street from us. Make sure to order their wor won ton soup, not salty and abundant amount of won tons and veggies! A small is Huge! Yummy dumpling, can take some time to get at your table but worth the wait. Hot and fresh and oozing with juices. Fried rice is perfection too, I love putting the yummy sauce on it, I think they said that was Beijing style! Another Korean-Chinese restaurant! It's clean, new, modern looking, and on a Sunday evening it was popping. We had to wait a little, but seated shortly after. I ordered the jjamp bbong (spicy seafood noodle soup), my friend ordered the jja jjang myun (black bean noodle) with an addition of fried egg, and we ordered the steamed shrimp dumplings as well. We were given iced water, tea, and side dishes of kimchee and pickled daikon. The jja jjang myun is perfect for one person, although I would prefer more noodles. The fried egg was a nice touch. My jjamp bong was good, I love the hand pulled noodles! Lots of seafood, but some weird smelling/tasting veggies I don't care for. The dumplings were delicious as well! This place has HUGE portions, so it's a great bang for your buck. I liked my seafood udon, which was packed with seafood, egg, and veggies, but I did find it a tad salty. Also, my mom wasn't a huge fan of her jjambong. She thought the spice tasted superficial (ie. it tasted like they just put chili powder to make it spicy, rather than making it with chili oil to make the broth taste deep). We ordered an extra meal which was the Beijing chow mein (combination chow mein). The chowmein noodles are nice, chewy and tasty. The sweet & sour pork was nice but not as crispy as what I'm used to. It has a little bit of pinkish in the meat. Lots of sauce, next time we'll ask for the sauce to be on the side. The mangolian beef was good, lots of green onions, soft beef. Hot and sour soup was good, it has a lot of ingredients- it's just like any other hot & sour soup. There's a free sides of house kimchi and pickled radish. Beijing Restaurant had the most interesting takeout boxes I've seen since the quarantine began. We ordered 2 Black Bean Noodles, 1 Spicy Seafood Noodle Soup, 1 Sweet and Sour Pork, 1 Deep Fried Chicken in Hot Pepper Sauce, and 1 Prawns Fried Rice for 5 people (yes it was way too much food but it was delicious). The noodle dishes came with the sauce in a big bowl, separated by a smaller bowl inside that had the noodles. These unusual bowls made mixing very convenient and kept the noodles from going soft (even after 30 minutes). We ordered at the restaurant and only had to wait around 20 minutes for all of our food. All the food items were amazing, I recommend reheating some if the dishes if you can. Sadly, the Pork and Chicken dishes were not crispy by the time we could eat them, but their very flavorful sauces made them delicious. read more

Basically paying for broth, some cabbage, and a few pieces of mussel and squid. There used to be a lot of shrimp which is why I loved getting this dish at Beijing Restaurant over Paik's Noodle on El Camino and Kiely, even though Beijing's is pricer. Was expecting more for portion size for a la carte items based on the price eg shrimp with chili sauce is $20. They have outdoor seating with shade from a tent during Covid-19. I've been searching for a solid Korean-Chinese restaurant for my black bean noodle cravings, and I've tried many places in both San Jose/Sunnyvale during my quest. After hearing about Beijing Restaurant from a friend, I decided to try it out while I was in the Santa Clara area. The inside was very nice, and I enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant. Everything was very clean, and the servers all were very attentive and friendly. Hot tea was complementary for the table as well. The menu was pretty wide-ranging from rice dishes, fried foods, and noodle dishes. I had to go with my go-to at every Korean-Chinese style restaurant: black bean noodles. Usually they have two options for the black bean noodles: the regular kind and the dry sauce kind (gan jjajang). The difference is that the dry sauce kind has the noodles and sauce separate. The sauce is usually freshly prepared per order with pan fried vegetables, so that's why it's usually a little more expensive than the regular kind. I went with the regular black bean noodles for today, and they were excellent! The price is amongst the cheapest I've seen in the Bay Area, and the portion size was very fair. It was definitely one of the best tasting black bean noodles I've had recently. This place is definitely a great place if you're into Korean-Chinese style cuisine. I ate and ate until I was ready to keel over. The food coma and pounds gained were inevitable. I regret nothing. Cutting to the chase? Weekday lunchtime is some of the hardest times to get in. Last time my mom went there during Tuesday lunchtime, she and her friends waited a good while because they had 5-6 groups in front of them. When I had gone there, we were pretty lucky. Seven people during one late Sunday night apparently equaled a short wait time and us getting placed in one of the glass rooms with a crystal disco ball. And no, we didn't make any reservations. I guess they use the rooms for bigger parties when they don't have any other expected guests. What's even better? I was down to 8% battery on my phone, and found an outlet in the corner I was sitting in. Specifically, our room was the one where one side was the window showing outside. So the outlet was in the far right corner near that window. They probably have outlets dotted all around, but that one specifically was very helpful, in case anyone is also running low or has plans. We came here on the recommendation of the Asian Mommy Committee (aka. what I call THAT gathering of Asian mothers that flock to socialize and gossip and is in everybody's business and YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT) (also, hello out there to the Indian Mommy Committee as well). The particular one individual that my mom talked to was the one that recommended the Sizzling Rice Soup and the Shredded Seafood, Pork with Green Beans Sheets (yeah, the name is really confusing and I swear that's the name on the menu) & mustard. So thank yoooouuu, auntie! Additionally, thanks to the fact I came in a large group, we had a whole HOST of dishes to try. First off, there is the kimchi and pickled radish provided for every two people to share, and I thought they were pretty decent.Good palate cleansers. Sizzling rice soup (I like to call it the rice krispy soup) typically consists mixing the toasted/slightly burnt rice you would find at the bottom of some stone pot rice bowl (like bibimbap) and mixing it with a soup that also has vegetables and rice. Or as my brother calls it, "basically bibimbap as a soup". Mild, flavorful, and very satisfying because there's a lot of rice and that rice doesn't immediately become mush. And those were just the start. If you have a larger order and the Mongolian Beef is one of them, I suggest you eat that first. It's delicious and makes a great standalone dish. But among everything I tried, it kinda got drowned out by the others. Better to eat it first in order to savor the flavors, THEN move onto the heavier stuff. Walnut Prawns were excellent. Big prawns with a decent, crisp coating while avoiding going overboard with the mayo, so you definitely get the soft meat right after a gratifying crunch. Black Bean Noodles were ACTUALLY pretty spicy, not just marked as such. It went really well the the thick, almost udon-like, noodle they used. LOVE the Dry Sauteed fish with Garlic sauce, which were fried crispy to the perfection. My tastes don't tend to lean towards spicy, and I don't particularly like fish, but it was so delicious that I couldn't stop myself from getting a second and third piece. The Shredded Seafood Pork with Green Beans Sheets (again, I didn't name it) is like eating giant glass noodles. It's typically drizzled/mixed with mustard, but I'd advise to ask for the mustard to be put on the side. Because the mustard sauce is actual mustard and very spicy; even the ones in my group who prefer heat could only drizzle a little in their portion. When they first serve it to you, you take the two spoons and mix it up, separating and cutting up the noodles a bit while you're at it. Finally, you have the Braised Pork in Brown Sauce. Tiny, pricey, and so very, very savory. Sitting besides our other dishes, it looked like such a small portion, but there's actually more in there than you think. Finally, you have the complimentary caramelized sweet potato wedges. I want more. Maybe it's just because of my love for sweet potato, but it was more like an after-dinner snack than a dessert. I'd totally get a bagful and eat it like popcorn. Thinking about it though, I'm pretty sure this is a street food, so cool! Top marks and I REALLY want to come again. read more

I love this restaurant! It's my go to spot for jja jjang myeon! I usually order the dry black bean noodles as I feel it has more flavor and it comes with a combo of pork and seafood loaded with sweet onions and topped with a fried egg! Yum! Noodles are so perfectly cooked and slightly chewy/bouncy. I recently tried the wet black bean noodles and it's also delicious and full of flavor. I got it Togo due to covid and ate it in my car. They offer outdoor dining, however, seating is limited. With your Togo order, they include the yellow pickled radish, kimchi, and the warm candied sweet potatoes (sooo gooood!!). I also recommend the mu shu pork. They make it sooo good here. It's not wet, yet full of flavor. Pairs so perfectly with the pancake and hoisin sauce. I always order extra pancakes. The sauce was really sweet, but not as sweet the sweet and sour pork. Sweet and sour pork: This was my favorite. It was crispy, sweet, not very sour, and had some veggies like carrots on it. The pork was very tender and juicy. It also wasn't dry or oily. Black bean noodles: Since I've never tried black bean noodles, I didn't know what to expect. I felt that there were too many onions and I wish there was a bit more meat on it. The noodles, however, were really good. They were thin, but still chewy and definitely fun slurping on. -Variety/menu- They have a lot of dishes on here. It's divided into stuff like seafood, pork, chicken, etc. -Price- Three dishes was $50. That's pretty pricey, but considering what this restaurant is, it's pretty reasonable. Fascinating. This restaurant is a Chinese restaurant that caters to Koreans! When I first looked at the menu, I was like... lots of Asians in here but I see a lot of the basics. Easy to understand Chinese food like noodles and fried rice but nothing I see at Chinese restaurants that cater to mainly Chinese. The reason? It's because it's a Korean owned Chinese place that caters to Koreans who want the classic Chinese dishes a lot of people love! This blew my mind! Anyway, the food is pretty good and priced decently. I would say if you are an American who likes the classics but wants that food in a better level of dining than say a Panda Express -- this may be a good option! I came with my family for the black bean noodles and spicy seafood noodles (jjajangmyun and jjamppong) so I can't say much about anything else on the menu, but the food I had really hit the spot! SERVICE: The restaurant is run by Koreans, so expect typical Korean service. They won't check up on you every five minutes (or at all unless you need something). This might bother some people, but as a Korean myself I don't mind it. AMBIANCE: The interior looks nice, like a typical Chinese restaurant. But the music kind of got on my nerves - it was very loud, like top 40s music, which I thought didn't match the restaurant at all. We also were seated at a table right below one of the speakers, so that didn't help. FOOD: The portions were enormous. A lot of veggies in the spicy seafood noodle soup, which I personally really enjoy. It also had shrimp, octopus, and mussels. The spice level was not too spicy, but it got my nose running a bit! I couldn't finish it because they gave us so much!! As for the black bean noodles, the portions were also pretty large, but the sauce to noodle ratio was a bit lacking in my opinion. P.S.
