My wife absolutely loves barbecue, so I decided to surprise her by taking her to Belly Barbecue for lunch today. After reading the reviews, I made sure we arrived early--and there was already a line out the door! In "Foodie Language," that's an excellent sign. From the moment we arrived, the experience was fantastic. Every patron we encountered was incredibly friendly, and Marcus, the owner, along with his staff, were nothing short of amazing. They were genuine, welcoming, and wonderful ambassadors for their restaurant. We ordered the brisket, pork ribs, smoked turkey, collard greens, cornbread, mac & cheese, Brunswick stew, and, of course, the pecan bar. I'm sorry, but words simply cannot begin to do justice to how delicious everything was! Every bite was outstanding, and their barbecue sauces were equally fantastic. Marcus and his team absolutely hit it out of the ballpark--not only with the food, but with their genuine hospitality. You can tell when people truly take pride in what they do, and that certainly comes through here. And, of course, I couldn't leave empty-handed! We ended up taking home several more pieces of turkey and brisket to enjoy later. And those pickles and pickled onions? Let's just say they still have my mouth watering like Pavlov's dog! Thank you again, Marcus, for making our lunch such a wonderful experience. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will definitely be back--with family and friends! Rob & Jennifer
Super glad we made it ! Belly is open FRI/SAT/SUNDAY. Best barbecue I've had in a long time! SUPER tender ribs and brisket, all the sides were delicious! Mac and cheese , baked beans were our fav, collard greens a delight as well....Not that you need the bbq sauce but even that was outstanding. Pure delight that they're sourcing high-quality meats, smokers, putting in all the prep, and it shows. To top it off Owner marcus was out greeting and asking everyone if they needed anything and making everyone feel welcome! Absolutely love this place!!!! Will be back go here now
Every time I come here, no matter what time it is, there's always a line out the door and I can definitely see why. Even when they're busy, the service is quick and everyone is friendly. The wait is honestly worth it because the food is always packed with flavor. Everything we got was so good. The meats had a nice smoky flavor with a great bark on the outside while still being juicy and tender. The ribs were especially good and the pork belly was thick, flavorful, and had that perfect crispy outside. Even the sides were worth getting the mac and cheese was creamy and cheesy and the cornbread was sweet, moist and went perfectly with the BBQ. Definitely recommend this place if you're craving good BBQ. The portions are generous, the food tastes fresh, and they give you plenty of sauces and pickled veggies to go with everything. There's a reason there's always a line here, and I'll definitely keep coming back!
Yo!! I came here with my guy Manveer Eats and woulda came here two years ago if I knew this place was on this level. It's on par with Terry Blacks and Hutchins out in Texas. You will have to wait in line so get there early. Marcus the owner is super cool, from Atlanta if I remember right. But the brisket, the Dino rib, the Mac, the blueberry cornbread.... looking forward to coming back! Go here!! Trust me!! 10/10
Went to Belly BBQ in Folsom and tried the beef rib, spicy sausage, pork ribs, and brisket. Everything was amazing, but the beef rib was definitely the star. It was super tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The mac and cheese, baked beans, and cornbread were all really tasty too. We came in on a Sunday and it was BUSY! Unfortunately, they had already run out of the pork belly and a few other things, but we definitely weren't disappointed with what we got. The owner even came by and apologized for running out of certain items, which was really nice of him. He seems like a genuinely good guy, and you can tell he knows what he's doing when it comes to BBQ. At this point, I think it's time for a bigger place! We'll definitely be back, and hopefully next time we can get our hands on that pork belly. Side note the cookie was actually amazing as well this place did not lack in any department.
We arrived to the restaurant at 10:50am and there was already a line around the building. Once the doors opened we waited about 35-40 minutes to order. We ordered the Feed 2-3 tray which comes with smoked turkey, pork ribs, brisket, two sides, and a dessert. We got baked beans and collard greens and opted to substitute the dessert for blueberry cornbread. We also added one spicy and one regular sausage, a large mac and cheese, and two regular cornbreads to the meal. Everything was outstanding! But the brisket, mac and cheese, and cornbread were the stars of the plate in my opinion. The customer service was friendly and attentive. The owner even stopped by our table to check on us and brought over complimentary sweet tea and lemonade for the table. We left with our bellies full and plenty of leftovers. The food is definitely worth the wait and we cannot wait to return.
Hey it's worth the wait but get there early!! I came here while at school and was pleasantly shocked to see the line. We waited for our entire lunch break ( we were late getting back to class) but it was worth it. I ordered the ribs and turkey and they were both really good. The ribs were tender flavorful! They sell everything by the 1/2 pound and seeing people walk out with large trays made me a little anxious like they might sell out! But if you stay close you need to try Belly! There is a reason they are only open 11hours a week!!
Belly BBQ lives up to the hype We tried the beef rib, pork ribs, brisket, and sausage. For sides we chose Mac n cheese, baked beans, and their famous blueberry cornbread! Definitely arrive early if you plan to go! The line takes between 45 mins - 1.5hr. Worth the wait!
This is quite literally the best BBQ spot in the entire Sacramento region. Let me tell ya what it's like. It's in Folsom which is far from me in Natomas but 100% worth the drive. There is always a wait-so be ready for 30-60 minutes in line when you arrive,you can wait before they open and be one of the first customers or you can wait while they are open and you can watch all these other people eat and hope they don't eat up all the brisket-it's up to you. They are only open extremely limited days and hours. They are only open 3 days a week for 11 hours total. 11am-2pm on Fridays and 11am-3pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Now let's talk about why it's worth dealing with all those cons-the food. Their Brisket is perfect. The Pulled Pork is among the best I've ever had. The Pork Ribs are so tasty and flavorful-darn near flawless. Their Sausages have a perfect snap and seasonings-so tasty. Their Turkey is easily the best turkey I've ever had at a BBQ joint-so juicy and tender-not even 1% dry. The sides have all been legendary. The Brunswick Stew is truly to die for. Mac N Cheese was so good it got me to believe in ordering it again after so many bad experiences elsewhere. The Blueberry Cornbread has ruined all other cornbreads for me-I bought extra to bring home and it never even survived the drive. So these are the reasons that Belly BBQ in my opinion is the finest BBQ establishment in the Sacramento regio
Came to area for a blood draw at Quest. Saw the line at Belly and, since I'd been fasting since yesterday, I decided to get in line to try BBQ. The temp was about 96 degrees. After 47 minutes in line, I finally entered the restaurant. There was no water for people waiting in the heat for so long. Some were obviously handicapped and it would have shown some thoughtfulness for their visitors had they had water outside OR made it clear that there was water available just to nauseate door. Thankfully, I brought my own water. After I got to the counter to order, I ordered the Tray for 2-3: brisket, ribs, turkey. Swapped turkey for add'l ribs. 2 sides and I added a third: Mac n cheese, slaw, baked beans. Sacramento, IMHO, is a BBQ desert. Having lived in the Midwest (St Louis) for forty years, I KNOW good BBQ. The best I've found in the area is in Placerville. I brisket! When I find it, it usually had all of the fat cut off. That is where the flavor lies. The next place that has a decent BBQ in the area is Bear West. However, they can be inconsistent with the tenderness of their ribs. They also don't serve brisket. I go to BBQ joints for the MEAT. If the sides are good, that's wonderful. At Belly BBQ, the brisket was definitely to my liking: smoky, with a nice well cooked fat cap and tender. The sauce enhanced the flavor of the meat. I would order it again. The ribs were also tasty, though a bit chewy on parts of the ribs. The Pitmaster obviously is passionate about desire to create good BBQ. I welcome his talents to Sacramento and hope that he'll grow his restaurant. Unfortunately, I was not so pleased with the sides. It's about personal tastes and while I ate them all, I would not order any of them again. I had the slaw (too dry) Mac n cheese (mushy and not very cheesy) and baked beans (would have like a bit more flavor/seasoning).They offered pickled onions and cucumbers. That was a nice and delicious touch. Dessert also was a part of this choice and I got the lemon pound cake. They also offered Cheesy Grits, collard greens and Brunswick Stew. I would try them next time though I don't think it will be soon. I don't like the wait time for entry. The dining area is quite small and was full. The "service area" where one gets utensils, plates, extra sauce is not big at all and difficult to access while holding your bag to go. I would order meat only and take it home to my own sides. A kind man seated at a table next to this station saw me struggling and offered to hold my bag and then invited me to sit at their table, which I did. I encourage those who love BBQ to try to visit during one of the 11 hours this operation is open during the week. As for me, I'll wait to return when they have kinder hours of operation or it is cooler. I spoke with the owner briefly. He said they will put water out next weekend. Read his story. It is an interesting one.
When we read reviews, the bottom line is we wanna know if this is a place that we should try. Belly barbecue should be on your radar, and yes, the bottom line is you want this!! Here's why- This is a family owned business nestled in the heart of Folsom. Definitely not a place that you would necessarily expect to find a BBQ joint, but absolutely a reason for you to travel here, drive here, wherever you are, you should definitely fill your belly here. The brisket, the beef and pork ribs, the turkey, and the links are all smoked on site and big barrel smokers. Everything is made in house. The greens, the mac & cheese, the cornbread, the beans, and the dessert desserts! What should you order? Anything and everything, but you absolutely will want the brisket. That is how you know that the food is THAT good. They offer the fatty cut and the lean cut. I would definitely go for both, but I personally like the fatty cut. It's perfectly smoked. The meat is flavorful, tender, lightly seasoned, and truly a perfect smoke. The pork ribs are tender, slightly peppered, and really tasty. The sausage comes a couple different ways, and I went for the mild. It's served sliced, and you know it's going to be good because when you bite into it, you still get that snap from the skin. What sides should you get? The beans, greens and blueberry cornbread. If you're dining with someone, you can order the 2-3 platter and make some adjustments. If you're dining alone, get this anyway because you're going to want leftovers. This is another great way to tell the quality of the food. It's one thing to enjoy it when you're dining, but when you have the leftovers and they taste even better... You know you've scored! The beans are amazing! So incredibly flavorful, filled with chunks of meat, you might even spot a veggie or two in there, and they are so incredibly perfectly seasoned. Literally the best beans I've had in a restaurant. The blueberry cornbread. Before you make a face or question my sanity, not only what you want this, but you should get an extra slice to have with your leftovers at home. Yes, it's cornbread, but it taste more like a lighter version of cake. It's not gritty, it's moist, and the blueberries just elevate the cornbread. The greens. If you love greens, and like me, you've been hard-pressed to find a restaurant that can make them correctly, look no further. Another sign that the food is delicious, when you eat the greens as leftovers/on the second day, and they're even better than they were on day one. I'm telling you this is magic! Their desserts are pretty legit, and that banana pudding is lighter than air and is absolutely delicious. Diners tip: they open at 11 AM, and people were lined up at 9:30 am waiting to get in to order food for either dine in, or take away. The line stayed at least 50 people deep during our dining experience, and I would imagine it stayed that way until they closed. Belly BBQ has been opened going on two years, and if they are not on your radar, they should be! Go get your smoked meat game on!
Checked out for first time as early fathers day lunch Saturday at 11. Was shocked by the line wrapping around the building before they opened! Once the door opened staff kept coming out and were very focused on keeping an opening in the line for the Taqueria next door. When we got inside there is a small eating area and I was surprised to see some were still available. Probably took about 20 min for us to get to the counter. All the staff were friendly. Ordered 2x 3 person trays (sub out turkey): brisket, ribs, bourbon pork belly, spicy sausage, cheesy grits, slaw, Mac & cheese, brunswick stew, collard greens, cornbread with blueberry, pecan pie bars, and chess cake. Brisket and ribs were spectacular: juicy, tender, perfectly smoked, and great flavor! Best sides to me were the cheesy grits, mac & cheese, collard greens, and blueberry cornbread. Wife really liked the chess cake.
There really isn't much to say. That place does BBQ RIGHT PERIOD. Pork Ribs 10/10. Brisket. 10/10 Flavor 10/10. Flavor. 10/10 Texture 10/10. Texture 10/10 Sauce 10/10. Seasoning 10/10 Mac & Cheese 11/10 Coleslaw 10/10 That damn BLUEBERRY CORNBREAD 15/10 Service WONDERFUL I truly didn't believe the hype. Well worh the wait. At a glance seemed crazy but the line truly flows. I love the little stop light information system they have on the wall. Anything in red light is sold out. Yellow light getting low and green light good to go. I absolutely positively will be returning to this place. Me and my kids enjoyed the food.
Tried it again and the food does not disappoint. Beef rib and brisket were juicy. Worth the price. The sides aren't for me. I tried the Cole slaw and Mac. I'll pass. It's not nasty. Just not for me. Vinegar Cole slaw and Mac had a more Smokey cheese taste. read more
In search of a new bbq place to find near by Sacramento I was lucky enough to stumble upon belly barbecue. Highly rated and well worth the reviews as well. Restaurant opens at 11am and closes at 3 or until they run out of food. Got there around 10:30 AM and the line was already wrapped around the corner. Finally made it inside by 11:40 AM. Long line, yes but moves fairly quickly. Owner was super sweet as he had a cooler full of water outside for everyone waiting. Once inside we ordered a tray that could feed 2-3 people easily. Ended up ordering the bbq ribs, brisket, bourbon pork belly, corn bread, baked beans, mac and cheese, hot link sausage and house made pickles. All in all I'm big on brisket and I have to say I would rate it a strong 9/10! Super juicy, tender and great taste. Definitely quality food. The regular bbq sauce was the better than the hot bbq sauce. The hot link sausage had a nice kick to it. I would still prefer it to be a tad bit more spicier but that's just me. The bourbon pork belly was a game changer! A solid 9.5/10! Would definitely go back for that. As far as the facility itself, a few tables inside with a water station, a station for cutlery, napkins, to go boxes and lids for containers. The tables and chairs were pretty sticky so just be cautious and be prepared to wipe it down before you take a seat. read more

The food was absolutely delicious. For Father's Day, all my hubby wanted was some good bbq. So we waited in a very long line and the food didn't disappoint. Definitely the meats were the highlight. The cornbreads were sold out so we didn't get to try those. The jalapeno poppers were very good but the rest of the sides were just average. Will be back for some more meat and hopefully a chance at some cornbread. read more

We got the tray for 2-3people with came with brisket, ribs, turkey breast, 2 sides and a dessert. We also got one of their spicy sasuage and pork belly, for the sides we did blue berry corn bread and Mac and cheese. The food was delicious and for 2 person, we didnt not finish it and still have left overs. All the meat were juicy. I do recommend coming earlier, we arrive 5 min after opening and the line was wrap around the side of the building. We waited for 1 hour before it was our turn but the serivce was fast and we were in and out once you place your order. The line up is similar to a Chipotle instead of ordering your food then having to wait an additional 49 minutes. I highly recommend the food if you are in the area or wants some really good BBQ. The spicy bbq sauce was good. read more

PT.1 THE LINE IS OUT THE DOOR!! Easy to find. Just look for the line. It moves in spurts. The smell is delightful. Will update once I get my order. PT. 2 We took the order to-go. This way I could concentrate on what I was eating. So let's start by saying everything I tasted was absolutely delicious! The brisket was very tender, melting in your mouth, easy to maneuver meat. I got the mild sausage, that was just right for me, of course my WIFE got the spicier one and she said it was real good. They had a per half pound option, they had sides, and per plate options The people in the restaurant seem super happy and pleased with all their food. I heard that one complaint, and there isn't one for me. I'm glad I don't have to go to Arkansas or Texas... Which was the last places I had good barbecue. The absolute most friendly family. They were all working very hard, and it looks like they've created something good for themselves. Marcus, was a super solid person. Came out to meet guests check the temperature of the restaurant to make sure everyone was happy. And was even making sure all of the warmers were full of food. I'll be back to visit them again. We waited in line for 40 mins. We made it here at 11:00 their opening time. It's a very fast paced environment, it's best to know your order prior to getting to the window. The customer service was excellent. It's expensive and I personally feel they do not give you enough food for the price. When you're thinking of 1/2 or 1/4 of a pound of bbq meat it's not much at all. The picture of our plate for two has our extra 1/2lb of ribs and 1lb ribs total is $30 and that was for four bones. It also has our extra pork belly which totals $16 per order and we received a total of 5 with the two we got for substituting the turkey. We got the 2 people tray. I substituted our 1/4 of turkey with pork belly and we received two pieces of pork belly, so I ordered an order of pork belly. The pork ribs were the star of the show for us. We ordered an extra 1/2 lb. Good flavor and cooked perfectly. The pork belly was tender and delicious I tasted the flavor once I was able to settle down and eat. The beef brisket was tender and seasoned to perfection. The greens were ok. The mac n cheese had a seasoning I wasn't happy with. It tastes like seafood mac n cheese. Had it been fried fish or shrimp the Mac would've paired perfectly. The baked beans had good flavor and were good. The beef rib I was disappointed. I was hoping it was more tender. The pickled onions and pickles were delicious.We spent $165 for everything and undecided if we will patronize in the future. read more

We attended a family event that ordered catering from here, so my review is limited to the food. The eats-- Brisket--tender & smoky, slices from the point & flat made for deliciously fatty & lean cuts Chopped Pork--moist & soft with smokiness Pork Ribs--ate clean off the bone Mac N Cheese--seasoned flavorfully vs just tasting cheesy Baked Beans--cooked well, not cloyingly sweet, had some savoriness Barbecue Sauce--didn't use any myself because the meat was so good, but the mister said it was tasty Everyone happily ate up! WORTH THE WAIT! This place is busy especially on Sundays! Not a big area inside to sit so you're better off ordering to go but so much better to take it home and enjoy it without someone pestering you about your table before you've even finished your food. Also best tip I can give before going here is to go early so you don't miss out on any of the meat options because they WILL sell out! I loved everything but cheesy grits and baked beans were probably the stars of the show for sides ! ALSO DO NOT SKIP OUT ON THE SIDE OF ONIONS AND PICKLES ! Wooohooo!!! Amazing bbq!!! So glad I got the chance to try them out. I've been wanting to try Belly BBQ since I moved to the area. Only open Friday - Sunday. They typically sell out quick and get really busy for lunch so make sure to come early. My husband and I shared the BBQ tray for 2-3 ppl. Came with 1/2 pound brisket, 1/4 pound turkey, 1/2 pounds pork ribs and 2 sides which we got Mac and cheese and cornbread and also came with your choice of dessert. Options were a pecan bar or lemon pound cake, which we opted for a lemon pound cake. BBQ was just amazing no need to for sauce, that good. But if you want sauce they got it. Regular, sweet and a spicy bbq sauce. Mac and cheese was cheesy, creamy and packed with flavor. Good cornbread. And their lemon pound cake was so moist and soft. This entire meal was $55 plus tax and worth it. We'll definitely be coming back again. read more
I LOVE and HATE Belly BBQ so much! Marcus is a solid pit master, which makes me doubt my ability to smoke meat myself. I can't even argue that it's his job to be this good because this is his weekend gig/hobby. Dude works full time as an engineer and then spends his weekend smoking meats and serving his community. What a jerk! Jokes aside, Belly BBQ really is outstanding. My wife and I have already eaten through the entire menu after 2 visits. She has declared it's better than Franklin BBQ out in Texas (I haven't been so I will refrain from making such bombastic statements!) Out of what we've had I would definitely put them in this order: bourbon pear pork belly, beef rib, brisket, smoked turkey, pork ribs, pulled pork, and house sausage. His beef rib and brisket are stellar with the right amount of fatty melt in your mouth experience, but good lord is that pork belly good! DO. NOT. SKIP. THE. COLLARD GREENS! That is if they still have it available. Marcus said that it's one of the first menu items to sell out. We were talking and he told me that in order to make the collard greens he does a 24-hour pork bone broth similar to making a ramen broth. The flavors are deep, rich and porky. For anyone in the Sac area decrying the drive out to Belly BBQ, just do it! The restaurant is a little small, but it's clean and everyone working is lovely! Also make sure you plan ahead to get there earlier depending on what you have your heart set on. read more

You don't have to travel to Texas to enjoy fantastic barbecue. Recommended by a coworker, Belly's gave me one of the best barbecue experiences I have had in the Sacramento area. I came with a large group and ordered the 2-3 plate, which comes with three meats, two sides, and a dessert. I chose the brisket, pork ribs, and turkey, with a side of spicy sausage added on. For sides, I went with the mac and cheese and cornbread. The brisket was incredibly tender with a beautiful smoke ring that packed so much flavor. The pork ribs were another highlight, cooked perfectly with just the right amount of bite. The turkey was juicy and lighter in flavor, and I kept thinking it would make an amazing sandwich. The sausage was decent, though it was my least favorite of the bunch. The cornbread was soft and moist, while the mac and cheese stood out with a smoky flavor and perfectly cooked al dente pasta. For dessert, we tried the pecan bar and chess cake. I am usually not big on sweets, but both were excellent. The staff were welcoming and knowledgeable, and the atmosphere had that true southern hospitality feel. The owner even stopped by our table and generously offered more chess cake to one of my friends. Belly's is outstanding barbecue at a very reasonable price. Came here on a Sunday morning around 10:50 a.m. without knowing much about the place. There was already a line out front, but it moved pretty quickly. A buddy and I split a tray with brisket, turkey, and pork ribs, plus grits, mac and cheese, and banana pudding. The turkey was good. It may not be anyone's first choice at a barbecue joint, but if a place knows what it's doing, the turkey should still be solid, and it was. The pork ribs had great flavor with perfect tenderness and just the right amount of bite. The brisket was the star of the meal. It had an excellent bark and reminded me of some of the best brisket I've had in Texas: simple salt and pepper seasoning done right. I also got my wife a beef rib and a side of collard greens to go. The customer service was outstanding. Everyone was friendly, accommodating, and made the experience even better. I'll definitely be back. I also liked how the owner stayed in the front and engaged with every customer. Definitely a family feel coming here. read more

Belly has usurped the crown of top BBQ in Northern CA. I smoke quite a bit of meat myself, and I can tell when a restaurant is doing things the hard (correct) way. Our group got a big platter of every meat, and while everything was delicious, to keep my BBQ reviews consistent, I will focus on just the brisket. They appear to be doing the "Goldees Method", meaning that they rest their briskets in an Alto Sham warmer for a long period of time wrapped in foil with rendered tallow. Both the lean and fatty slices were perfect. Perfect tenderness, no trace of dryness, fat cap was perfectly rendered, and the bark was a delicious balance of meat, salt, pepper and smoke. I usually nit pick restaurants that I would want a bit more black pepper, but I did not get that urge this time. They have very limited hours, but I appreciate the fact that the owner is presumably doing this to ensure quality. I am already thinking of how I can plan a trip to come back with my family, so they qualify for my rare 5 star review! read more
BEST SOUTHERN BBQ IN NORCAL. Hidden gem. AMAZING FOOD. Kind service with that true Southern hospitality. 3 of us were dining and got a pound of brisket, 1/2 lb of pork ribs, and a 1/4 lb of turkey with a side of blueberry cornbread, mac n cheese, and slaw! Best BBQ spot in the greater Sacramento area possibly norcal and possibly all of California. No one even comes this close to Texas BBQ not even Texas itself. Great brisket smoked to perfection, corn bread soft and moist not dry what so ever, the Brunswick stew mixed with the cornbread is amazing. Other than the amazing food the customer service is overall great, to simply put it "southern hospitality". Me and the family will be coming here as much as we can since we drove an hour to be here and not even the slightest of disappointment. Wish I got a pic of the plate but the plate was devoured too fast. read more

BEST American BBQ in Folsom (or dare I say in the Sacramento!). We heard so many good things about Belly BBQ and they were all true! We tried almost everything on the menu and they were all very tasty. Don't forget to get the pickled onion to cut the heaviness of the meat. Everytime we had guests coming to Folsom, we always went here when the restaurant is open (they only open on the weekends: Friday to Sunday). All our guests agreed that Belly BBQ is a legit delicious BBQ place! One time, the chef (who was very friendly and humble) greeted us and we 'complained' on the restaurant's limited opening hours but also praised him on how good everything was! The next time we visited again, he still remembered us! - brisket: my favorite! The meat was always tender. The char gave smoky flavor to the meat. The burnt ends were very good - not too burnt but had intense smokiness. - pork ribs: yum! The meat was tender and the rub spices seeped through the meat. - sausage: I usually avoid ordering sausage at BBQ place but their sausage was super good! Full of meat, intense flavor, smoky, and perfectly cooked. - coleslaw: if you like peppery coleslaw and not slathered with mayo, this would be perfect. For me, it was a bit too peppery but I still order it every time I came here. - cornbread: our favorite sides. It actually tasted like corn and always moist. - collard green: perfectly cooked & not mushy. The tangy soup cuts the heaviness from the meat. - cheesy grits: very creamy and cheesy! I don't really like grit but this one was very good. - pumpkin pie: creamy pie with full of pumpkin flavor. The crust was crispy and good thickness to hold the pie filling. read more

WHY WE WENT HERE: - lunch - fiance can't pass up an opportunity for brisket THE LOOK (FROM THE OUTSIDE): - located in a plaza off Prairie City Rd and Willard Dr - the logo is very interesting (modern/minimal); if it didn't have BBQ in the name, I wouldn't have thought it was a BBQ spot THE LOOK (FROM THE INSIDE): - small but busy! - you fall in line to order and either dine-in or take it to-go - when you're in line you'll see on the wall a traffic light indication of the menu items; it shows what's available, running low, or what they're out of - it's almost cafeteria line-esque; once you're up you tell them what you're ordering; it's a carving station, then sides served up, and ends ultimately with the cashier to pay THE MENU: - protein - sides - dessert - trays WHAT WE ORDERED: - feeds 2-3 tray with mac n cheese and collard greens and chess cake (I wasn't sure if it's a misspelling that's meant to be cheesecake? or if it's really chess cake) - beef rib tray with baked beans and cheesy grits and pecan pie bar * you get 2 complimentary original bbq sauce, 2 complimentary spicy bbq sauce, and a mini tray of sliced dill pickles and pickled onions THE TASTE: - brisket - fiance said it was good, he'd get it again - pork ribs - good - turkey - very moist! especially when dipped in the butter sauce - mac n cheese - good, like the seasoning - collard greens - good - chess cake - if it IS a cheesecake, it's very thin and dense, almost has a brownie top; sweet - beef rib - very tender; parts of it the outer part were a punch of salt though - baked beans - different flavor, some of the beans were hard though - cheesy grits - would NOT recommend; almost gray, not fluffy, very gritty - pecan pie bar - super sweet! loved it though! Mom wanted brisket. So I had to do some research into where to get some good brisket and Belly kept coming up. So we made the plan to order for pickup but unfortunately that was offline. Onto the backup plan and we drove up to Folsom from Natomas and got there in time for opening on Sunday. We got the parking lot 5 minutes after they opened and there was already a line to the door. The line moved pretty quickly. We went for 2 of trays that feed 2-3 people, a beef rib and the spicy sausage. For the sides we got corn bread, the beans, the Brunswick stew and the cheesy grits. For dessert we got the pecan pie and banana pudding. The restaurant is not very big but there were plenty of tables if you wanted to eat there. The staff were very helpful and their system is efficient. Now for the food- at first I was a little shell shocked at the price but after having consumed most of everything, it was worth it! We were eating family style so they offered to put everything in one tray for us. I'm always a fan of pork ribs and brisket but the real star for me was the beef rib. It was huge and juicy and meaty! The brisket was great and the pork ribs were tender and tasty, I didn't even need any sauce. As for the sides, my husband wasn't a fan of the grits just because they were alot more coarse than he expected. The beans and the Brunswick stew were big hits but the corn bread was a little dry for my taste. I am for sure going to be coming back for more beef ribs! read more

I almost didn't want to post a review on this place--not because it isn't amazing, but because I don't want the line to get any longer when I go. But truthfully, they have the best BBQ I've ever had in California. The inside of Belly BBQ is clean and well lit and not too hot which can be an issue in some BBQ places. I went with my friend and we got the tray that feeds 2-3 people. If you go with someone with a big appetite, order your own tray because you'll regret not having any leftovers! Now let's talk about the food--everything was flavorful and delicious from the brisket to the greens to the beans. If I had to choose one thing I wasn't raving about, it would be the mac and cheese, I like more of a baked mac and cheese, but that's just my personal preference. The staff were super friendly and the owner even came out and spoke to everyone to thank them for coming. Everyone that works here did a great job making sure you felt welcome from the time you came in to the time you left. I'll definitely be back!! read more

Service is a 10/10. Everyone was sooooo nice. 7/10 Sauces we really good The rest 1/10 - I must have caught them on a bad day. Meat (Ribs) was salty nearing pickling saltiness. Tried the one and could not eat the other. Cornbread was flat not a soft fluffy version that usually is Cornbread especially for extra price. Mac and cheese taste like there was onion and garlic cooked in it an had a smoke aroma. read more

I think my initial takeaway is that while I normally wouldn't gravitate towards turkey outside of Thanksgiving, the tender love and care this place put into their bird was surprising. I might go so far as to say it was the best thing we ate. We had plate for 2-3 people adding sausage and pork belly. Both of which were really outstanding. For side dishes they were all very good but the beans were a star. This is more of a sold out show that is also a delightful meal, so if you plan to go show up early for parking/ line waiting. This place deserves its 5 stars, only because we can't give them 6 or 7. read more
I mean wow. Just wow! My brother drove 45 minutes to try this place out. It didn't disappoint! We got the tray for 2 people- includes ribs, brisket, turkey 2 sides and a dessert. Meat was tender, so flavorful. I believe he was the owner, he came over to our table and gave us a sample to the bourbon belly. It was sooooo good! I would give it 10 stars if possible. read more

Hubby took baby and me here for Mother's Day and we thought everything was fantastic! Great staff as well! We split the Cornbread, Collard Greens, Bourbon-Pork Belly and Brisket. My fiancée and I shared the 2-3 person platter and the food lived up to all the hype! The turkey was very juicy and flavorful. We loved the blueberry cornbread and pecan bar for our sweet treats. Had an amazing meal to go! The team greeted us on entry and was very cordial throughout the ordering & check out process. Beef Rib and brisket were delicious, but my favorite out of the two was the beef rib. Ordered a 6oz. Mac and cheese on the side, and picked up some of their free picked onions and pickles- wonderful pairing with the meat. The owner Marcus was so gracious and stood by his bbq. I highly recommend this place. Only good bbq in Sacramento county. I didn't dine in and although it was cozy, there was a good amount of seating. read more
From the food to the hospitality, this place is a true blessing in our area. I've been craving authentic, top-notch BBQ for ages, and they absolutely delivered. The bourbon pork belly melted in my mouth with incredible flavor, while the beef brisket and beef rib were perfectly juicy. I'm not usually big on sweets, but that blueberry cornbread was pure magic. Drove here from Elk Grove, worth the drive. Everything we ordered was on point. Perfect smoke flavor, moist and tender. The pickles are home made too! Arrived at 11:20am. Line out the door. Small dining area that was full by the time we got inside. Tables started to clear up by the time we ordered the food. Line died down by 12:00 and it wasn't as packed. Next time we will show up after 12. The owner , Marcus, is a great guy. Always greeting his customers and is an artist with his smoker. He has more loyal customers here. read more
