Had reservations for 4 on January 7th @ 7:30. Being a "foodie" with an affinity for aged Porterhouse, the fact they they touted their coming from Peter Lugers, provided me with high hopes. Unfortunately, what was delivered was a let down. Mind you, the place is packed, so many others like the place. Our experience started at the bar waiting for our table, we ordered glasses of Merlot & Pinot Grigio but were advised that they were out of both - Looking around at the room surrounded by glass front wine cabinets that contain literally more than a thousand bottles of wine, let's say we were puzzled - Eh, chalk it up, that wasn't why we came here anyway. On to our table, we ordered Raw Oysters, Baked Clams, Tomatoes & Onion for appetizers and for dinner - Steak for 4, 2 orders of Creamed Spinach and 2 orders of Benjamin's Home Fries. The appetizers were spot on and a prelude to what was to come, or so we thought. During the appetizer round, drinks were ordered but never delivered, and our young waiter was missing in action. This "drink issue" went on continuously throughout the evening, each time drinks were ordered we had to search for our waiter to remind him that he'd forgotten our drinks. Also, and this is a bit petty, but the pepper shaker at our table was empty. Had to ask twice for a pepper shaker with pepper. Dinner was delivered, the Porterhouse was not sizzling on delivery to the table - Guessing it sat in the window for a while waiting for our missing waiter to arrive? They only delivered 1 Creamed Spinach & 1 order of potatoes. We reminded our waiter that we ordered 2 of each, he apologized and said he'd take care of it ASAP. The missing sides never came, nor did the drinks we ordered at that time. Well, at least the Porterhouse was there, and coming from a place modeled after Lugers, this could at least make up partially for the absolutely horrible service. WRONG - An "aged" Porterhouse Steak that doesn't melt in your mouth is something you'd expect at a chain restaurant - Not at a restaurant that uses its owner's experience at Peter Lugers. The steak was mediocre at best (the flavor was good), but the meat was not tender (it did taste 'aged'). I regularly buy aged Porterhouse at Greenwich Prime, Ridgefield Prime & Vincent's in the Bronx - I know aged Porterhouse well, and pride myself on being able to come close to a Luger's steak at home. The steak we had at Benjamin's was not the quality of meat I buy at those places and it certainly doesn't compare to Lugers, Keens, Smith n Wolensky or even Black Angus in Danbury. Buyer beware, you'd expect a pair of owners who tout making their bones at Lugers, to understand the value of a waitstaff that doesn't let your water glass level to drop too far before refilling it, to ensure that they're delivering that type of service - Here, management was either absent or doesn't care because the place is packed? The quality of the steak is a mystery to me. Certainly they've sampled their wares as compared to the Lugers they aspire to duplicate? It's impossible to believe that anyone who's eaten at both would find Benjamin's a suitable substitute. At the end of our lackluster dinner we chatted about dessert - based on the complete lack of service, we all decided that we didn't have the extra 2 hours it would take to order and then WAIT for Dessert, or even if we ordered it, whether it would actually come or be right when delivered. With a $500 bill for 4 (as was expected), you expect 4 star service and melt in your mouth steak - If you go to Benjamin's looking for either, you'll be woefully disappointed. The Benjamin steakhouse was honestly disappointing, at least the White Plains location. There were some good things we enjoyed, but no wow factor at all. The lobster mac and cheese (4.5/5) might have been one of the better/best mac and cheese dishes I've tried. The top was slightly charred/crispy and the macaroni was very cheesy and gooey. We also ordered more drinks and dessert at the end. About 40-45 minutes into waiting for our drinks and dessert, we asked for the check. Our waiter dropped off the check before the cheesecake reached our table. I asked him to cancel the cheesecake because at this point, we were unhappy. The steak for 3 was mouth watering, the lamb chops cooked to perfection, the colossal shrimp was indeed colossal and tasty, the chicken was surprisingly good, the salmon was moist and not dried out. Bart was our waiter and things were going good until the bill came. The bill was $1485 We gave Bart $745 in Cash along with 4 cards multiple ppl told him multiple times charge each card $185. This fool comes back to the table and loudly says "THE BILL IS SHORT $160". Everyone at the table was so confused. Bart messed up and charged each card $145. Disappointing!! Last Saturday, I had a disappointing visit when my $73 Ribeye state was over cooked and the whole dining experience left a lot to desired. I was even more disappointed when I received a response from the restaurant about my review. An almost $500 dinner and they not only disappointed me with my experience but also with the way they handle a disappointing guest experience. I been in hospitality for almost 30 years and any good business knows that it's not about the issue the client experience it's how you make it right for them. I have been going to this location of Benjamin Steakhouse annually for Thanksgiving for ten years now. While I can depend on having a beyond delicious meal, service and the general quality of the food has declined over the years. After being seated, it was quickly very clear that the restaurant overbooked and took way too many reservations. People were eating and breathing on top of each other and it was very claustrophobic. Staff was friendly but not very attentive. Serving size and quality of each dish, specifically the appetizers, drastically decreases annually, it was quite noticeably shocking this year. I have ordered the crab cake appetizer for at least the past 5 years and usually would receive 2-3 pretty large crab cakes, this year I received one substantially smaller crab cake, yet the price increased. Ice cream sundae is always a classic dessert here, 10/10 recommend. Steak,crab cakes, lobster mac and cheese and fries were all so tasty. The Thanksgiving prefix is okay- while I am not a big Thanksgiving food fan I have tried a bit of everything (the stuffing is exceptionally good!!) and recommend it if you are looking for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. read more

Right off the bat...the place is pricey, BUT...once you're in the joint, this place is dynamite!! You're greeted very warmly by the people in front and if you have a reservation...you're seated promptly. The waiters were all very kind, nice and attentive. The ambiance/atmosphere is classy and you feel comfortable. Love the fireplace as well! Great dinner menu and great wine list. And...if you want a cold beer, you can have that to. To start with I/We had ordered a couple trays of the cold seafood platter...and they threw in a couple extras for us. It was superb. Then on to the steaks (of course)...a lot to choose from. So we ordered a couple porterhouse and a couple New York Strips all with mashed potatoes, onion rings and peas with onions. Dined in during covid times, and could not have felt safer. They have a huge outdoor tent with tons of outside air coming in and tons of heaters keeping the place warm. This was the best outdoor dining experience I've had this year - as I was warm, yet didn't worry about covid at all. On to the food! Amazing French onion soup and French fries! I'd come back for these two items alone. They also start you with a complimentary bread basket filled with various delicious bread choices. My husband had the steak and I had the burger, and both were overdone. I will definitely go back, but next time will make sure to order my meat a notch or two more rare than I actually want it. I ate here on 08-30 with family, party of nine, for a birthday celebration. The ambience is nice, staff is professional and attentive. For the food everything we ate was really good. For appetizers we had the bacon, clams, and tuna tartar. My only complaint was with the tuna. There was too much sesame oil and it over powered the tuna. For entrees we had various steaks and a few had the sea bass. My wife and I shared the porter house for two. It was seasoned well and cooked to a perfect medium rare. As COVID restrictions are starting to lift (again), one of the things in my sphere that is making a return is educational dinners. I enjoy attending these because I usually learn something new while dining at a restaurant that is new to me. My most recent educational outing brought me here to Benjamin's Steakhouse; while I'm not the biggest red meat eater, I do indulge every once in a while so I was looking forward to gaining some knowledge over some steak. There are a few Benjamin locations in NYC but to my knowledge this is the only one in Westchester. The location is a smidge off the beaten path, not really next to any other commercial establishments and more surrounded by residential homes. The entrance is also a little confusing, because you need to pass through two different outdoor seating areas before reaching the actual restaurant entrance. Once inside, I was quickly shown to a private room where the presentation as being held. The decor was typical steakhouse - lots of dark woods and chunky furniture with a high-end feel. We had a prix-fixe menu with with choices of starters and mains. I decided on the Caesar salad which was good - nothing too outstanding but also not bad. For mains we had a choice of ribeye, salmon, or pasta - and since I was at a steakhouse I went with the ribeye. It's not my favorite cut of beef, but being at a steakhouse I wasn't going to bypass it. The ribeye was good - and HUGE, like wow I didn't expect them to serve me such a big cut with the bone and everything. It was cooked to my liking with lots of flavor. They also gave us sides of fries, creamed spinach, broccoli which were all tasty. The broccoli was definitely the standout since it was cooked with lots of garlic (see my profile tagline). For dessert they served us slices of red velvet, chocolate mousse, and key lime pie which again were all tasty. Service was good, they were on top of it and everything came out in conjunction with the pace of the presentation. I've been to many presentations where we were sitting there long after the presentation was over waiting for food, so it was refreshing to see the synchronous pace. Overall, I had a good experience at Benjamin's. I don't frequent steakhouses too often, but it's nice to know this place is close to me in case I'm in the mood. read more

Pretty mediocre overall. The shrimp was the best thing we had...they were LARGE and tasted fresh. The asparagus was also quite good...cooked properly and seasoned appropriately. The steak, while having a pronounced, dry-aged flavor, doesn't seem to be good quality meat. I've rarely experienced the amount of gristle and tough textures in dry-aged porterhouse. The potatoes were clearly sitting around for a while before they were served to us. We had to ask for bread and butter (?) For the cost, I would not go back here. Top notch steak with top notch service. Been to a handful of steakhouses and Benjamin tops my list. Took my parents to celebrate my father's birthday. Start with the calamari! It's incredible. Ribeye for the boys, mom had the lobster tails. If you can find a partner that enjoys meat the same way, I recommend the Porterhouse for two. I've been trying to get to Benjamin Steakhouse for quite a hile now, and finally made it there yesterday. I had really been hoping to get there around my birthday, but as I rely on mss transit, and Benjamin is only open for lunch on weekends, that's a bit of a challenge, as it limits me to Saturday, as I'm on a street where the bus doesn't run on Sundays. So yesterday, I finally made it there (very little thanks to a bus that was almost a half hour late getting to my stop) and was only a few minutes late getting there for my reserved time. Thankfully, the staff answring phone is excellent, the guests get seated promptly, and servers are very quick at taking orders, delivering beverages fast, and bringing food out promptly. Even though I as there after pm, the restaurant was nearly full from my vantage point, and the staff all appeared to be on top of their service. I ordered something a bit unusual to order at a steakhouse, but for me it was part of an ongoing quet: find the best philly cheesesteak in Westchester. And since the Benjamin has one on the menu....here I was. For taste, it did not disappoint in the least. While not served on a traditional hero roll, the roll it ws served on had a firm enough crust yet soft enough bread to complement its filling nicely. The thinly sliced real steak was cooked to order (I ordered it medium), was very tender, and mixed expertly with cheese and onions, which were both notable in the flavor they added to the sanwich, but barely visible as they were completely mixed in with the meat. Complementing the sandwich was a side of possibly the best fries I've had in my life so far. If you had to imagine a perfect blend of Mcdonald's crispy french fries and the fresh cut fries at five guys, then add the perfect amount of seasoning, you'd get these fries. Nearly as large as traditional steak fries, these are so much better. Crisp, thick, fresh cut, perfectly seasoned french fries. Add to this a diet coke, and it was far and away an excellent meal. The only downside - paying nearly $37 for this, not including tip. It's worth it as an occasional treat - I can see doing this once a year - but not something I'd make a regular habit of. But definitely a meal to look forward to. Quality and service - 5 stars. value - 3 stars. And that's how I get to 4 stars. read more

It been years since hubby and I graced the doorstep of Benjamin's. Not because of the food but because of a not-so-great dining experience with an inconsiderate neighboring table. Tonight though, with baby and stroller in tow, I was able to secure a quiet table away from the fray and hubbub of the main dining area so as not to have a repeat of our last visit. First off, I gotta say that their valet is on point; always top notch service and never a long wait. Our hostess gave us table options for which table would be best suited for us, which was thoughtful. We opted for one all the way in the back of the dining room, out of the way. Niko was our server and he was awesome! We were having a special dinner tonight, for my son who is going off to complete his last year in college. We always take him out before he starts a new year and this time he chose a steakhouse. I can only name four steakhouses near us that are good; Jake's is unnecessarily pricey, Ruth's Chris is overrated, never been to Morton's in White Plains and Benjamin's was great from we last remembered and we always meant to come back. We opted for the steak for three which is basically ok ne and a half porterhouse steaks. They came to the table sliced and sexified. We paired our steak with their lobster mac, broccoli and asparagus. Everything was impeccable. I was even able to request a special dessert be sent to the table and Niko set up a cute congratulatory dessert plate for my boy. We did pecan and apple pies. It was great. They were very understaffed for a Saturday. It took 2 hours for our main course to be served (table behind had same issue). The manger was no where to be found to explain the delay. Staff just kept saying sorry. We went for my mom's birthday (noted on OpenTable) and staff never brought a cake we requested to sing happy birthday to her. My sister asked staff 3x to bring a dessert with a candle, but it never came after we waited for an extended time. It was impossible to track down our main waiter throughout dinner. Our night ended with the staff just saying sorry over and over for not bringing a cake and for the food coming late. Depressing way to end the evening. So the food was good ... steak was very good. Space was nice. With that said, the most overpriced food and drink spot I've been to in a long time. Not here to bash but 5 people had calamari, steak tartare, dozen oysters for appetizers. Two drinks (mostly wine) each, three had steak and two surf and turf, dessert for 4 and two coffees: $780. NOT including the tip. Almost a $G with tip cuz it ain't the waiters fault.
