Funny how I've never heard of this place before. My work recently catered lunch from them. It was over a hundred bentos. The bentos were huge. There was chicken katsu, bbq chicken, meat jun, mandoo, soybeans and rice in the container. There was so much food that I ate the leftovers for dinner. The food was ok and flavorful. When we got the food it was already cold. I'm sure it would have been much better if the food was hot and the chicken katsu still crispy. They gave no sauces for the meat except a packet of soy sauce. I will have to come again and try something else on my own time.

3.5 Stars!! I dropped off Xmas gifts to my friend who works right across and had about one hour before my hair appointment, made a u-turn and noticed Best Drive-In, I was thinking to myself why is this business sound so familiar?- I had this bookmarked after reading the great reviews, I finally get to try. Later that day, I checked Best Drive-In's Instagram page and found out that they have new owners, October 25, was the original owner's last day. Bummer that I can't compare Best Drive- In's food from original owners vs new. Checking out the menu board they have huge menu selection, bentos, & breakfast too. I read the musubi were popular, great to see that musubi are available in jun, katsu, and BBQ chicken, besides spam. I would come back to get this, if I am in the area again. I decided on the special combination plate, comes with most of the good stuff ( kalbi, bbq chicken, meat jun, fish jun, 1 piece man doo, and zucchini jun) & 4 sides, which I went with seaweed , kim chee, choi sum, and fish cake. Price for this plate $19.98. It was nice of the lady to give me a paper plate ( no charge), when I requested for one. I wanted to make a plate and give the rest to the hubby. The portions are a nice size and I like that they cut up all the meats! The meat jun sauce such small portion size, there is a charge of .25, if you need more. The verdict, I ate real quick- enjoyed the bbq chicken, fish jun, man doo, and kim chee! The seaweed was very sour, fish cake had a funny taste. I was a little disappointed when I asked if she could make the bbq chicken spicy style she said ok, but I guess she forgot so I mixed the chicken with the kim chee sauce to make it spicy. I gave the rest of my plate to the hubby - my meat jun snob other half, hehe, and I asked him the important question- how was the meat jun. I am hoping it will pass but he said it is "ok". Guess not. Overall, the special combo plate was a great choice, I am glad I finally got to try Best and will try my best to stop here again!

    Meat Jun from Best Drive-In

Best Drive-In is situated on Sans Island Access Road - in a long strip mall on the Diamond Head side. It looks like it's been there since its inception. Korean fast casual food. Food looks homemade...I say that as the kim chee has fish sauce/anchovy sauce in it...not to my taste. Requested the regular Meat Jun Plate; this comes with four banchan options. I usually get bean sprouts, choy sum, and kim chee...and this time I got potatoes in (apparently) a homemade mayonnaise. Honestly, it's tough to screw up the sides...and it is good. Kim chee? It is just a matter of personal taste. Meat Jun was fantastic. Thin slices of beef in a sweetend egg wash. I like it thin and not too eggy ( is that even a word ) and Best Drive-In delivered. Two sauces were provided: one was spicy, chili pepper based and the other was sweet, soy sauce based. The former was winnahs. Parking stalls across all storefronts.

My first time ordering Korean food from Best under new ownership and not disappointed. Great tasting Meat Jhun, not too "eggy" and Kalbi was meaty and had nice flavor. The sides were very good. I loved the pickled cucumber so much that I double ordered it plus double ordered the corn. The lady that took my order was so nice she gave me a cup of ice water while I waited. Awesome customer service! It's a little eating area but was clean and had a casual ambiance! I'll be back to try other items on their menu!

I wanted to eat bahn mi sandwich so my husband said cafe diem on sand island access road check out the menu before we go well it was close shucks... so my husband saw this korean drive inn . Walked in and my husband said spicy pork for him. I looked at the menu and I chose meat jun. Both mini plates were good. I was taking pictures from the menu board and the owner I think said no need take pictures I give you menu. Well will be back again. They do have a few seats for dine in.

Was supposed to pick up lunch at Diem 99. It was closed. Both Google and Yelp had them open on Saturday. Well went around the block to Best Drive Inn. My wife went in to place our order. I soon followed so I could take a couple of pictures. Dine Inn area was spacious although it was limited to a few tables. My wife was taking pictures of the menu board when the owner said no need take pictures Igive you menu. Great service with good food. I ordered the Spicy Pork and my wife had the Meat Jun. We both loved what we ordered. Enjoy

The fish jun and meat jun are so much better than other places I've been to. Definitely coming back for these!

The fish jun and meat jun are so much better than other places I've been to. Fish was perfectly cooked, soft and moist, meat was tender and well marinated, loved the type of batter they made with, the texture is not floury or starchy like other places'. Definitely coming back for these! Yummy The lady there was super nice, so friendly and helpful, the service during this purchasing experience was above and beyond! I really appreciate her and her way serving customers! May God bless them! I pray that this business will continue to flourish and continue to serve the community with delicious food and great hearts and attitude!

One of my favorite drive ins. The staff is so nice and welcoming. They're ALWAYS busy. Their bentos are awesome and for the price, worth it! But the spicy pork is my ultimate favorite!

Got the meal with Mexican pizza and 2 crunchy taco supremes. Baby ate some of a taco and decided was too difficult to eat so I ate that. She ate a piece of Mexican pizza. The rest came home. I think it's not as good as I remember... but we shared the leftovers the next day and I think I like it better cold. Like cold pizza. Hubs got a gordita which he always likes. Regular taco. And a crunchwrap. He didn't really like the crunchwrap. He said it's boring. I think it just has too much tortilla and not enough filling. The workers pretty nice...quick to go fix the bathroom. Bathrooms fairly clean. Defibrillator thingy in a metal box on the wall...saw a worker pick something up and stand up right into the corner. OH.MY.GOD. Not sure why it's where it is...stuuuupid. I have no idea what they are thinking having the dining area not be open 24/7 like the drive through. If they just made the whole restaurant open 24 hours, it would be a lot easier... Instead, mobile orders are picked up at the drive-thru OR you stand outside and wait for your order, which by the way, doesn't seem to be started UNTIL you arrive! Pointless. If you go after their dining room closes, be prepared to wait in a mile long drive-thru line, regardless if you mobile ordered or not... OR bang on the door to flag down an employee to show them your order on your phone. Basically, you'll see a long ass drive-thru line snaking onto Beretania and a bunch of people waiting outside if you go after hours. Honestly, it seems like they are being cheap by not scheduling more workers on the night shift... Poor employees look so overwhelmed!!! On top of that, make sure you check your order before you leave because they once forgot to put a whole ass order of Mexican Pizza in the bag!

The chicken skin had a nice crunch to it and the meat was juicy (not super oily, but juicy.) The mashed potatoes and gravy weren't bad. They were not super fluffy but a little more on the dense side. (Nothing bad, just dense.) The gravy was somewhat runny with just the right amount of saltiness. The spaghetti was surprisingly good! It's been a few years since I've gone to a Jolly Bee and I had imagined the spaghetti to only be sweet and savory. It was actually pretty good! (Not in an Italian way though. It was a little spicy, which I loved! I wasn't expecting it to be spicy so it was a very pleasant surprise! It was a tad sweet...just the right amount! (There isn't a 3-piece combo on the menu, but the server was kind enough to accommodate my request for an extra piece of chicken.) It came with a container of gravy that made me wonder what it was for, immediately. Then I remembered all the commercials and YouTube videos where food reviewers either slathered their chicken with the gravy or they dunked it into the gravy. I was so hungry that I forgot for a few seconds that the gravy was for the chicken, thus I drank most of the gravy!! The dining area is constantly cleaned and draws a diverse crowd. Because it is at the beginning of downtown it does attract some homeless people as well. But, that's life in the big city, right? When I went to the restroom I found it amusing that a male Jollibee employee was changing his shirt. It seemed he was done for the day. Overall, it was a pleasant meal. I arrived around 5:40 PM, but getting into the parking lot took longer than expected because of the very long drive-thru line and limited parking. Once inside, I waited about 5 minutes at the counter before anyone acknowledged me. I was the only customer waiting inside. I even stood near the online pickup area for a while, hoping someone would ask if I needed help, but several employees walked by without acknowledging me. Two cashiers looked in my direction multiple times but continued their conversation instead of checking whether I was waiting for an order. I finally interrupted to let them know I was there for an online pickup and gave them my name. Unfortunately, there seemed to be confusion about my order. One employee pointed to another, who then pointed back to the first employee while continuing to prepare food. No one was able to tell me whether my order was ready. Thankfully, an employee wearing a different colored shirt (a manager I'm assuming) noticed I hadn't been helped. She immediately apologized, asked for my name, checked on my order, and informed the kitchen that more chicken needed to be prepared. Shortly after, another manager also stepped in, apologized, and helped get everything together. I finally left with my order at 6:09 PM, nearly 40 minutes after my scheduled pickup time. The food was fresh, delicious, and the restaurant itself was clean, which is why I'm giving 5 stars for the food and cleanliness. However, this isn't the first time I've had to wait an unusually long time just to be acknowledged for an online pickup. In the past, my food has at least been ready once someone finally helped me. This visit was different because not only was I ignored, but my order also wasn't ready. I understand that restaurants are fast-paced environments and that unexpected staffing shortages can happen if someone calls out sick. However, there appeared to be plenty of staff working during my visit. My concern wasn't the number of employees--it was the lack of communication, urgency, and teamwork. I believe additional customer service and workflow training could help employees become more productive and ensure that customers, especially those picking up online orders, are acknowledged promptly. A simple greeting such as, "We'll be right with you," or "Let me check on your order," would have made a significant difference. Good communication goes a long way and leaves customers feeling valued, even during busy times.

Little overdue of a review but here we go lol…read more. Diners has been a staple for my family & I , and I'm sure many other families on island for YEARS. Our family's go to was always Cheeseburger and yellow sauce with fries! As time and society evolved , so did Diners, since they became "Upscale" and added more things to their menu. I have tried their Grilled lobster plate more than once from their Upscale menu in the past and I think during that time it was $15? Not sure if it's still that price, but for that price it was a winner! Lobster + salad and rice ? What more can you ask for since that's basically a steal in today's economy. Anyway , I was in the area recently and decided on diners for dinner. I was really craving ahi katsu, unfortunately my go to spot was already closed since I decided on dinner a little after 8pm ish? So I thought .. well diners has ahi katsu supposedly .. why not give it a try. I wasn't expecting much since it was Diner's BUT needless to say.. their ahi katsu is DELICIOUS. Seasoned well and cooked to perfection! I love the sauce they drizzle on the katsu. I should've asked for extra sauce on the side had I known it was gonna be yummy! But that's something to keep note of on my next visit in the future. I definitely would order this plate again! And continue to adventure out on their menu lol. A tip to keep in mind : they do have signs posted by their windows to be patient when ordering because they do take a bit to make and give you your order since they are always short staffed. And there's normally alot of people waiting or ordering since lots come to this establishment right after work or in between work or just simply there for a bite to grab. So prepare to wait .. but sometimes you can be lucky where it doesn't take as long. It does truly depend on time and the day I guess. Also one last thing, my personal opinion , I think Diners is worth grabbing food from. Whether you're hungry , in the area or wanting to grind. Some people have mixed reviews or bad experiences but me personally , I always had a good outcome. Oh also before I forget their steak is delicious too (LOL) , never ordered it for myself but I shared some of it with one of my relatives who ordered their steak before. Give this place a shot!

When I heard that their current spot at the Ward Center was closing, I was so bummed but knew I had to make one last visit bc it is unknown if I'll get to eat their bomb food again. They are forced to close due to the demolition of Ward Centre for redevelopment. They are just a small mom & pop shop at the ewa end of the mall, a limited menu, friendly customer service, reasonable prices, & ono food. I've eaten here twice and I am just wowed! I don't have a favorite item on their menu because everything I've tried has been great. Smash burger - the best I've had - for only $10.25, you get a double patty with their house sauce, lettuce, tomato, red onions on a toasted brioche bun. I added swiss cheese for 75 cents & subbed red onions for grilled onion for 50 cents. It's a pretty big burger & very juicy as well as messy. Plenty of napkins are needed for sure! Shrimp burger - ono! It's on a brioche bun and the shrimp is formed into a patty with a very light coating, not a totally breaded patty. The patty fills the whole bun so you get shrimp on every bite. Also served with lettuce, tomato, & red onions. The garlic aioli sauce makes this a tasty and flavorful sandwich. Butter lobster roll - I had this on my first visit and the price is a little steep at $23.90 but it was surprisingly one of the best lobster rolls I've ever had. It's not a big sandwich. The roll is not even 6" but it is packed with tender pieces of real lobster - 3.5 oz - topped with melted butter. The sandwich is a little on the salty side but was still ono. Lemon tart - had this on my first visit but didn't see it on the menu this time. It had homemade lemon curd in a sweet tart topped by whipped cream for $5. It was a good sized dessert easily shared by two. Overall, a great place to eat, ono sandwiches, reasonable prices, and friendly customer service. They do sell out of items early so best to get their when they open. Everything is cooked to order so sometimes the wait can be 10 - 15 minutes, but it's worth the wait. I did inquire where they are moving to and was told they are still looking. I sure hope this little place continues to stay in business because they have something good going. Support local!
