The pulled pork "Saigon" is excellent. The rib tips and brisket is excellent. No sauce necessary. That is a mark of good BBQ in my opinion. The owner works behind the counter and has great attention to detail. He saw a larger than acceptable stalk of coriander on a sandwich going out and stopped and fixed it before calling out the order. The pride and attention to detail shows in everything. They shout out a thank you to every customer as they are walking out. They are all trying very hard to provide excellent customer service and satisfaction and it shows. Great job! read more

We were introduced to this little place several years ago by some friends and we really enjoyed it but it's quite a ways from home and we never seem to be in the area at meal time. We finally made it back! The last time we went we had heard they were going to increase the size of the restaurant. It was small and quant before, and often crowded. I was a little nervous that it may have lost its vibe. Just as before, you place your order at the counter and wait for them to call your name when your meal is ready. I ordered one of the specials that evening, nachos with pulled pork. My husband order another entree, something with rice & our son got a pulled pork sandwich basket. I didn't like that some of the seating was in an area just inside the door where everyone looked over you to read the menu & it seemed not many others preferred that either. We found a table off to one of the side areas to sit. Surprisingly the drink station was self serve & they still had the sassafras tea that I loved the last time we went... I think I had 3 glasses, yum! Our food was all delicious! The nachos order was ginormous so I asked my husband to help me eat it and he took his meal home to eat for lunch the next day. Our son devoured half of his sandwich and admitted it was great but he was full.. next time we will order the smaller version. -don't forget to ask for pickles when you go pick up your order! They have homemade pickles and will give you a little side of them if you request them and they are very good. My only complaint was that the tables seemed to have some issues. What a last minute find for dinner and turn out to be the best BBQ in this area. I had the Buccaneer and boy the flavors danced in your mouth. The potato salad was great with a little kick. Everything I've had there has been excellent. The smoked brisket is my favorite but the sausage ribs and chicken are great as well.

First time visit. Brisket was good- better than the pork which had big chunks that weren't tender enough. Cole slaw was flavorless, very blah. Wish I'd gotten something else. Disappointing. Went late on Sunday evening to try this place out with my mom and wife. Was not expecting this place to not be a real full sit down restaurant. Plus I ordered the root beer float.Didn't take too long to get our meal. The meat fell right off the bone of the ribs, they were Delicious! I'm pretty picky about how I like my beans and slaw, they were right up my ally, those too were delicious. OMG the mac and cheese.... DELICIOUS! I ordered enough so I could have lunch for work the next day. Over all the meal was pretty good. Now for the explication of only giving 3 stars..... the place was kind of dirty. Especially the bathroom. They give you a take home plastic cup with the root beer float, so I went to the one and only bathroom that was available to rinse my cup out for the ride home. There were cobwebs everywhere and they place just looks like it isn't kept up well. Like no pride in the establishment at all. The place could use a good professional cleaning service. I made the mistake of looking up once I sat back down at my table. YUCK. If they place is that un-kept, I'm kinda scared of what the actual kitchen might look like. We were told by a recommendation that they give a pretty good size portion for dinner. We didn't feel we were given that generous portion with our order, for how expensive our dinner was. Heard good things about this place and work provided some lunch from here so we ordered online one night for dinner. Tell you what...the baked beans look NOTHING like what's pictured on their website. Online their photo looks incredibly tasty with bacon and brown sugar, what we got looked like canned pork and beans. Not bashing pork and beans, but that's not what we were expecting. Can't believe I have never ate here before. Went twice prior to this review. Food is awesome and you really need to try the place. Well worth it. The value is there and the quality is there too. Only issue we have is the placement of the trash can next to the utensils and such. There was a large back up of a bunch of people trying to leave putting there trash away into a small hole in a plastic can lid. Nobody wants to get sauce on them after they just cleaned up. A local BBQ place with a full parking lot is usually a good sign and that proved to be the case once again as I tried Big Hoffa's. There was a healthy-sized line inside that moved at a bit of a slow pace and someone put in a really big order before I put in my Amendment w/ garlic rolls and mac. I was getting kinda cranky (I maybe waited too long to eat) as a few of the people after me got their food first, but eventually it did come and wow it was worth it. The fresh ingredients in combination with the slow-smoked meat and sauces really elevated it to something fantastic. The garlic butter rolls were at least as good as a certain Beef House out in western Indiana and the mac and cheese was solid. Oh, and the sassafras sweet tea was killer. Friendly welcome as we entered the place, I said we were first timers... grabbed a menu by the front door and was told when we were ready to order we could do so as the front counter. This is my favorite BBQ place in all of Indy! They have a great menu and the pirate atmosphere is so much fun! This is a place that we ALWAYS take our out of town guests too!
