Got a nail in my tire and wanted it patched. Since we originally purchased our tires at a Big O we knew we could get it patched for free so we originally attempted the location on Katella near Tustin. After leaving our vehicle there for 3 hours they did nothing to patch our tire because they couldn't find the tool in our car to take the tire off--which was unbelieveable. It didn't take a hard look. Anyway, now hubby is back at work and I have to take care of this with two kids in tow. This location is good for that because it is right next door to a couple of places to eat, a couple blocks from a park, and a couple blocks from a library. So when I dropped off our vehicle I was told it would be an hour and forty-five minutes, (and we were told we'd get a call when the car was done). They didn't look busy when we dropped it off, but when the kids and I returned from the park in exactly that amount of time, they looked pretty swamped. I had not received a phone call so the kids and I sat down in the waiting room. If you have kids and care about what they see, the station was on something completely inappropriate. Also, we sat there for 30 minutes before I saw my keys hanging behind the counter and asked the man if my car was ready--um, yes. We just sat there for an extra 30 minutes as a bonus. They got the job done but they're not going to be respectful of your time. read more

Got to give a big shout out to Big O Tires!!! I was having a crummy Friday when I had learned one of my tires took a hit to a huge nail and therefore could not be fixed, but needed to be replaced. My car must be a magnet for nails on the road. I had taken my car there to get a nail removed and patch a few months ago; was in and out relatively quick and cheap. Fast forward to today, noticed I had a leak in the same tire and another nail in the middle. I took it back to the shop and talked it over with Aureliano. Same deal, got my car on the lift right away and viola they found another nail and took care of it for me on the house! You're the man Aureliano. NEW CUSTOMERS BEWARE! "First come, first served" is not the protocol here. I had the displeasure of getting an oil change/tire rotation this afternoon. First, let me assure you that Brian, the store manager, is very friendly. Second, let me assure you that he plays favorites with customers. I had an appointment at 3:00 p.m., arrived five minutes early, and waited in line to be checked in. After ten minutes of being in line, another customer Tony, who Brian knew, got in line behind me. Brian checked both of us in at the same time, then pulled Tony's car into the garage, leaving mine to sit for 15 minutes curbside. Then--and I don't know what the deal is with those two--I had to listen to Brian kiss Tony's butt for an hour while I waited. Tony was getting new tires and alignment and left ten minutes before my car was finished. So, thanks to Brian, 25 minutes of my time was burned that I'll never get back. Bottom line: if you're a returning customer, power to ya. If you are a first-timer, well, your time's not as valuable, and it sucks to be you. And if Tony walks in when you're there, well, it's the back of the bus for you read more

Being that I'm a female often times taking my car in to receive maintenance hasn't been the best of times. Most cases I'm over charged or told I need so much more than need because I'm not as knowledgeable when it comes down to it. Huge shout out to JOSH - I explained how I took my car to the good year across the street and how they messed up in the air pressure in my tires, the Oil change reminder sticker had the wrong date and mileage on when I needed my next one, and how they were going to over charge me for and air filter and alllll these other unnecessary things. He quickly was honest, reassured me on exactly what I need to get done, and I felt completely comfortable. They worked on my car immediately and they all had great attitudes which was exactly what I needed w/ an unexpected morning I had with my car. Its a friendly place but the competency level is so so. We brought our car in for new brakes. After it was done, the new brakes were very squeaky. We asked and were later told that the thicker more expensive brake pads would not squeak like that. It would have been helpful to know that BEFORE the work was done. We chose to live with the squeaky cheaper brake pads because we didn't want to take more time away from work to redo the work after we already had to go back and forth to trouble shoot. Why didn't they let us know what options we had and what we had to live with beforehand? Then our roters needed work since the car shook when we braked. They resurfaced them but within a few months, the car is shaking again when we brake at high speed. Now they tell us the roters need to be rotated instead. Called another mechanic and they said that resurfacing only lasts about 1 month (maybe more) and now we may need to get new brakes to go with new roters!! This is after taking time off more than once to go back and forth in order to trouble shoot..both regarding the roters and the squeaky brakes. And now it may cost us another set of brake pads. They give discount coupons and the service is friendly, but its not worth the trouble of not getting things done right or satisfactory the first time around and having to take time off work/weekends just to redo things. read more

I often take my cars here because it is conveniently located near a place where I spend a lot of time. What was once great is now completely HORRIBLE!!! Rating them with one star is one star too many. If you can get past the price deception and taking FOREVER to get the job done, be prepared to have your vehicle's interior filthy with oil. This happened with my Lexus last time and even worse with the Honda this time. These idiots didn't even offer to clean up their mess. Bottom line, take you car elsewhere. read more

I came in around 8:15 and around 9 my car was still parked outside so I asked for my keys and left. This place was pretty empty except two other guys and one fella said he was there "10 minutes before they opened" and his car was still parked waiting to get tires. I didn't see any sense of urgency and or speed so I tool my car to this family owned tire place a couple miles down the street and Omg.. In and out in 20 minutes at half the cost. I called 4 different big o tires. I wanted to see if it was possible to get my alignment done in under an hour. They have done it before. Not this one. The Santa Ana location. After 3 big o tires told me they couldn't get my alignment done in an hour, mishonda told me that she could get it done in an hour if I brought it now. So I did. I get there and there are a bunch of cars there. I ask again, are you sure you can get it done within an hour. You guys look busy. Oh yeah it shouldn't be a problem they said. An hour goes by and they haven't touched my car. She finally says, oh you're here for the warranty alignment. I say yes. Duh. I didn't say duh but it was implied. Again I asked, how much longer is this going to take. Well this bmw is about to go off the rack and yours is next. 30 minutes go by and my car is still sitting there. Why couldn't you just tell me that you couldn't do it within the time that I asked. Why are you so inconsiderate of my time. Especially when I specified multiple times. I just wasted an hour and a half and I got nothing done. Go to another location where they actually will be considerate of your time. read more

I usually buy at Costco but found a deal on OEM tires here for much less. Also got the life time alignment which has paid off since I had the car re-aligned twice afterwards. Technicians have been very nice with nothing to complain about. read more

I am not sure about tire replacement at this place but this is the absolute WORST place for brake service and alignments. I brought in my car for a simple brake pad replacement, and when they jacked up my car I caught the technician knocking my red-painted brembo calipers with a metal hammer (not a rubber mallet) before I stopped him. His actions have left a permanent mark on my calipers. After he took off my calipers and inspected my rear left rotor for a good 10 minutes, he called me into the garage and told me that I needed to replace the rotors too since they had been worn to beyond their limits. Puzzled, since I had just replaced the rotors less than 10,000 miles before, I looked at the old reference manual he was looking at and noticed that he was looking at the specs for the WRONG car. After showing him this, he didn't know what to do, so I had to personally call the dealership and ask them the correct specs. Needless to say the rotors were well within their wear limits. After he finished, I drove home unhappy about my service. After a couple days driving around, as I took a casual look at my rear left brakes, I was horrified to notice that the pad was only contacting the rotor 50% of the available surface area. In other words, it looked like the pad was hanging and about to fall off!! Immediately, I took the car back to them and they said they would fix it right away no charge. Hurriedly, they decided to jack my car up on the flat platform which squashed my car's plastic side skirts. I ran into the garage to stop them as I saw the plastic completely bend and as I heard the horrible noise, but the technician responded "it's plastic, its ok". My side skirt now has a slight crease that is visible when viewed from a certain angle from a light source. They took off my rear wheel and fixed the problem- he forgot to put in a pin that holds the brake pad!! Totally unacceptable. Imagine if I had not known as much about cars and did not catch that mistake..brakes are not something to fool around with. A year later, as I needed an alignment, I decided to give this place another try since it was something hard to screw up on and since my friends recommended (how I "discovered" this place) this particular service at this place . After the technician was done aligning and backing my car out, as I walked to my car to take the keys from him, before I knew it he drove the car off the rack and into the street. I ran out to the street sidewalk perplexed as he drove around the street corner out of sight. After 6 minutes, YES 6 minutes (I timed it), he came back. Demanding an explanation he responded, "safety check". It does not take 6 minutes to test an alignment and I have never heard of technicians taking client's cars out to the road. And this was after I overheard him and his buddy talk about street racing on the street in santa ana. I am NEVER coming back to this place EVER again for ANY type of service. I loathe this place so much I became a member of yelp just to review it. I would give this place a 1 star but then yelp would hide the review!!! read more

Since they closed down the Big O Tires on 17th and Grand Ave in Santa Ana, I have been coming here the last two times. It is also SUPER convenient since it is 1 minute walking distance from my work. I always have a good experience here. When they tell me that my oil & filter change will be no more than an hour, they are always on point! I took my car in at 10am exactly and 10:47am I got the call that my car was done. Thank you Jorge R. and the team for taking care of my car. Definitely my go-to spot for car maintenance. read more

Jeff (store manager) did a poor job of communicating the cost of repairs. Brought my son's Toyota in for tires and alignment. Had them check brakes. Estimate was $599 (no problem with that). Jeff called me about an hour into servicing indicating that rear brakes needed replacing and all the fluids should be replaced. I asked how much to do all the work. He indicated $1,077. I told him a bit much for an old Toyota, but to go ahead. When I came into pay, I was told the total was $1,676!! I was furious. Jeff explained that when I asked how much to do all the work, he thought I was only asking about the additional work. This is where I feel I was majorly ripped off. If someone asks "how much to do ALL the work", you would expect a bottom line price, not just the additional charges. I'm giving him one star because he issued a $250 credit for the confusion. While the gesture was appreciated, I still find his explanation very misleading and I suspect I'm not the first to run into this here. Caveat Emptor. read more

Liars! Liars! Liars! On 6/26/12, the manager told me that my minivan needed to have the transmission fluid replaced for $159 and the power steering fluid for $90. I went home to look at my previous invoice from Big O tires, dated 2/17/12 and they had previously done these exact services for my minivan!! I've been coming here for the past 5 years and have received excellent service. I purchase the warranty with my tires, so that if anything ever happens(and it does) I'm covered. Today I rolled in to get my right rear tire repaired because it was losing pressure about 2 psi a day. David who was running the sales floor area was exceptionally helpful. Although I only came in to have my rear tire looked at, he informed me that my front tires had extreme wear on the inside tread, so bad that I was on the verge of a blowout. This baffled me because I was at Midas less than a month ago and they did an inspection of my vehicle and didn't say anything in regards to my tires. It gets worse though. David approached me and told me that my front pads and rotors were shot... All of this wear and tear isn't necessarily visible, but failure of the tires and breaks in my case would have led to a very unsavory situation David took the time to break down why I needed the repairs didn't try and force a sale, and was genuinely helpful. I didn't expect to spend the amount of money that I did today, and with a wedding right around the corner I'm a bit strapped financially, but driving a sports car requires special care and maintenance that one simply cannot put off. I made David aware of my situation and he was able to work with the pricing a bit. I appreciate the fact that he went out of his way to help me out, get the repairs done in a timely manner, and get me on my way. ill keep coming here. It's not the closest to my work or home, but the service is well worth it. As a side note, today as I was entering the sales shop after waiting outside, a disgruntled customer was literally yelling at the staff because she apparently does not understand that the people who work at Big O Tires are great at repairs but they are by no means mind readers. David and the staff handled the situation professionally, even offering to reimburse her for her taxi. However, their attempts to rectify the situation were futile, I applaud their efforts in attempting to deal with what one can only call a bat shit crazy mess. read more

I just had my tires replaced at Big O, and while you would think this would be a review on the service I received, it's about the experience I had inside while waiting. Don't get me wrong, the service was great, but how they handled themselves with a rude father and son was even more amazing. This kid comes in with his father and is instantly belligerent to the guys at Big O because he wanted a specific tire for his car that Big O told him they couldn't get. This kid kept getting increasingly louder and nasty. Then when Big O told him that they told his father they couldn't get that tire and the father agreed he was told that, the kid said to his father, in a very entitled manner, "you didn't tell me that!" Then the father took over and was instantly belligerent with the guys at Big O and demanded the "actual cost" of the tire and demanded a price match. The father kept stating that he didn't want to be screwed over and how does he know that the price he paid for the tire was the actual cost? These men that work at Big O kept their cool, never raised their voices, tried to explain, tried showing them what was being demanded, etc. When the father started cursing that's when we stepped in and said something, then the father's tone went down. It astonishes me how people raise their children now, with no respect! The guys at Big O handled theirselves very professionally! Honestly, if I would have been one of them, it wouldn't have been pretty! We even told the guys there that if there were any issues and that father were to complain to corporate about them to call us because we witnessed the whole thing. Good job guys! read more

They had the best deal for tires that I could find. So I gave them a three. When I got there they took my car and told me an hour. Got back a little after the hour and figured I'd have to wait. However, I noticed that the guys were standing around chatting and my car was sitting in the air still without tires on it. About 30 minutes later my car was done and he drove it to the back ( I noticed others drove the cars around first but figured maybe he didn't want to keep us waiting longer). Then I preceded to wait again as the guys stood around talking again. I decided to walk inside and stand near the counter and then they realized I was waiting. He apologized but they could be a little more courteous when it comes giving out completion times and following through. read more
