    So cute

I feel like five stars not even enough. I had a breakfast sandwich mind you I ordered the breakfast sandwich at 2:30. I didn't eat that breakfast sandwich until midnight. It was delicious at midnight so if I would've ate that breakfast sandwich at 2:30 it would've been off the charts. Most of the reviews of that I read was about the burrito. The cook told me how he does everything that guy is amazing very friendly will definitely be going back.

Now I'm only reviewing one item and the service I received here today. Which was awesome by the way. My friend came in to buy a breakfast burrito and decided to share half with me today. We asked the chef to cut it in half for us because we were sharing, and they cut it and gave us separate sauces. We pass by this location a lot but I haven't had a chance to try it. My friend betrayed me one day, and she tried this spot without me. Good thing she did because this burrito was delicious . It's hard to get us to try new places sometimes. After eating my piece I was a little upset I didn't get my own. Salsa was delicious and spicy and I love my spicy foods. The service was kind and brought cheer to my morning. Although it is a small establishment it was the cutest. I will def come again to try other things.

Came here for the breakfast burrito and wasn't disappointed - very nice and the salsa they give on the side went very well. My husband went with the breakfast sandwich which he enjoyed. The employee running the place was very nice and chatted to us while she made our breakfast. Took it to eat outside the State Capitol. Would definitely come back and try more items.

Stopped by Bistro Bravado and ordered the breakfast burrito, and it definitely delivered. The portion size was large and filling, especially for the price, which felt very fair for the quality and amount of food you get. Flavor wise, everything was on point. The burrito was savory and rich, and the salsa verde really brought it together adding a nice acidity and a bit of kick that cut through the richness perfectly. Service was top tier from start to finish. Friendly, efficient, and made the experience even better. The only downside is the space itself is a bit small, so it's definitely more of a grab and go or takeout spot rather than somewhere you'd linger. Overall, great food, great value, and excellent service. I'll definitely be back.

Omgggg had the best breakfast burrito made with love at Bistro Bravado! Just a block down walking distance from the Hyatt Regency with glowing Yelp reviews i had to check out!! Was greeted by 2 adorable children eating outside! Put in an order for the breakfast burrito. The interior is cozy and designed like the woods. Nice benches to sit on to wait for ur order and a relaxing water fountain. The chef made my burrito with love and i love how generous their salsa verde is!! I love salsa!! They also have other condiments like ketchup, cholulu hot sauce (yum) and tabasco. Enjoyed my burrito at the hotel! Plenty of egg, potatoes, and sausage!! Pairs well with the salsa verde and there is plenty for the whole burrito! I especially like love the crispy outside. Thank you so much and i def recommend!!

    Fajita salad and compostable silverware!

Really great spot for a quick bite to eat near the Capitol building. Plenty of healthy options and portions are great. We had the fajita salad and the chicken gyro bowl. Both were delicious! Everything tasted really fresh and the jalepeno ranch on the fajita salad had a little kick to it, which we enjoyed. I was very impressed with their compostable silverware. Food was prepared quickly and there was plenty of outdoor seating with umbrellas.

EXCELLENT breakfast burritos. The salsa verde is also amazing and you can tell it's made fresh. I think it was $10 for probably the best breakfast burrito I've ever had... soooo good

This was about a 6-7 min walk from my hotel, stopped by when I was on my morning walk and ordered a breakfast sandwich. They were out of the arugula which i was sad about but the sandwich was really good and their ingredients taste pretty fresh.

    Chimichurri Cold Cut Sandwich
    Gabrielle M.

The chimichurri cold cut sandwich is a 10/10!!! No notes. They use fresh ingredients and the bread was so good. I really liked the crunchy onion strips too, added some crunch. It's a very small spot, and when I stopped by there were only two people working both the counter and prepping the food. I ordered ahead and got in and out super quick.

Definitely a hidden gem in the Downtown Sacramento area! This place is walkable distance to my work's building, so already gone multiple times! I ordered the breakfast burrito and this boy was big and just $10! The burrito came with scrambled eggs, bacon, breakfast sausage, onion, bell peppers, and breakfast potatoes. If you're coming with a friend, I would definitely recommend sharing or just have an extra portion for leftovers! Service is great and everyone is super nice. I would definitely recommend for an easy, delicious, and cheap breakfast spot!

We especially loved the bruschetta and the Kobe beef carpaccio. The deviled eggs were also a great starter. For our entrées, the ribeye was cooked perfectly and incredibly flavorful, and the Wagyu burger was just as tasty. We wrapped up the meal with the bread pudding and crème brûlée, and both desserts were the perfect sweet ending to an amazing dinner.

We decided for our last night all together we would pick a highly rated one for a special meal. Magpie Cafe right in downtown fit the bill and we were thoroughly impressed by everything. We ordered just about every special plus many other dishes, some multiple, from appetizers through to desserts. It's in a beautiful area of the city, open to the street and green park. We opted to sit outside as it was a lovely evening. The beer menu had some regional favorites, all small and well chosen. For food we went all out, and I'll let the photos speak for themselves. Everything was so colorful and presented beautifully. Highlights were the pickles, fried asparagus, anchovies, and croquettes. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable about our dishes, she added to the experience. If you're in the area, this restaurant is worth a stop. They even have a cafe in the airport!

The drink contained gin, strawberry syrup, and fresh lemon basil. It was light and refreshing and the perfect spring summer drink. Then we had the baby eggplant which was marinated in a soy glaze. It also had some sort of peanut sauce base. This was a delightful bite. Both of us were very impressed. The presentation was gorgeous. Clearly still on my eggplant craze. One of the reasons we went to Magpie was for the trout dip. In a shocking turn of events, they didn't have it. I think it was an old menu. Maybe their winter menu. This was a bummer. Instead, they had a salmon dip. We got that, and I wish it was more flavorful/smokey. Normally, I'm not a smokey seasoning person, but I think it goes nicely with fish. The chips though were really good. I love a kettle chip. I thought they would be thicker, since the dip was thicker. I'm glad they served the dip with the spoon. We also had the stone fruit salad. I was shocked it didn't come with a cheese, but after I tasted it, the creamy yogurt successfully filled that void. Once again, the plating was gorgeous. I think the peaches were good, but I can tell that later in the summer, these peaches will be even more delectable. I think the pistachios were an excellent choice to this salad. For my main course, I had the painted hills flat iron steak with a Chimichurri sauce and crispy smashed potatoes. The steak was well cooked, and with the seasoning of the chimichurri, it was a delightful bite. Sam had the gnocchi with pesto and fresh tomatoes. The gnocchi was fluffy. Both she and I thought that the pesto was good, but we both wish that we wish there was more of it. I love pesto though, so I am always going to think that. It came in dollops, rather than mixed in, so I think that was part of the problem. We also had to get dessert. I had the ice cream sandwiches. They were made with lemon thyme shortbread cookies with vanilla Guenther's Ice Cream. I wish it was a stronger vanilla taste or a flavored ice cream. The cookies were too good though. Sam had the lavender panna cotta. Normally I am not a huge panna cotta fan, but this one was delicious. It had such a strong lavender taste, in a good way. It kind of tasted like I was eating lotion because of the thickness of the panna cotta with the lavender flavor.

Their patio area is really cute, and they have plenty of seating both outside and inside. The only downside was the service. It took us over 15 minutes just to place our drink order, and then it took a while for our drinks to come out. Since it was a warmer day, it would've been nice to have water on the table right away. I actually received my food before I even got my water or the drink I ordered, which was a little disappointing. The good thing is once we finally placed our food order, it came out really fast! I ordered the Mexican Skillet, which comes with eggs, chicken chorizo, onions, peppers, pepper jack cheese, guacamole, tater tots, and a tortilla. It was really good! The only thing I felt it was missing was salsa. I think having salsa on top or even on the side would have made this dish even better and added that extra flavor it needed. We also tried the Chicken and Waffles, which came with southern fried chicken, pork sausage country gravy, a Belgian waffle, pecan butter, and maple syrup. The waffle was delicious, and the pork sausage gravy had a really good flavor. The portion was also very generous. I was only able to eat about half of my meal. Overall, the food was good, and the restaurant itself is really cute. The patio is a great spot to sit, especially on a nice day. However, the service was the biggest downside of our visit. Even after finishing our food, it took a while for our server to check on us. After getting our check, we also waited quite a bit for our to go boxes and eventually decided to just ask for them at the front because we had been waiting so long. The restaurant wasn't packed, so I'm not sure if it was just an off day, but I do think it's something to keep in mind if you're coming here. If you're not in a rush and want to enjoy a slower brunch, it could be a nice spot. The food was good, but because of the service, I'm not sure if I would come back.

Ella is an upscale restaurant with a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere. I felt perfectly at ease wearing shorts and a polo, which speaks to how approachable the space is despite its refined reputation. Although I didn't order an appetizer, the staff surprised me with a complimentary cup of soup. It was delicious--rich, balanced, and a thoughtful touch that set the tone for the meal. For my main dish, I ordered the Crispy Fried Half Chicken with roasted garlic. It arrived with a small bottle of their house‑made hot sauce and was served in generous cuts: two drumsticks, a wing, and a breast (or thigh). The batter was beautifully flaky without falling apart, and the chicken itself was juicy, tender, and perfectly cooked. The crisp coating practically melted before giving way to a light crunch, and the hot sauce added just the right amount of subtle heat. Travis mixed up what could very well have been the best Old Fashioned we've ever had. It's not my preferred cocktail, but if more were like this one, that may be another story. I opted for the Kumquat Kiss, which was delicious and different. Besides that Old Fashioned, the Hash Brown Lyonnaise really stole the show. Pillow-light hash brown sticks (how did they do that?!) with a scrumptious onion dip with crispy shallots and finely chopped chives. This is one of my top happy hour dishes of the year. Just wow! Try it yourself and tell me you don't agree. The Grilled Prawns missed the mark for me a bit, although the husband liked them. Tasty, but just not as much of a star as the other dish. Only suggestion is to have a happy hour menu for bites as well as beverages, as is found on the website. This would help avoid the need for staff to present a dinner menu (which admittedly, I was confused by) and acknowledge that the first course options are all available but at no happy hour discount (which felt a bit awkward for all involved).
