She was friendly, informative and welcoming. She made us feel that our business was appreciated. She made certain we enjoyed our meals which we did from soup to dessert! I ordered Togo and got a 15$ salad- this is what it looked like. It was the kale and Brussels sprouts salad. Honestly tasted pretty bleh and I ended up taking 2 bites and throwing it away unfortunately. The lettuce tasted a little old and there was a tiny amount of toppings that it was supposed to come with. Nothing like the picture on the menu of course, not even remotely close. Disappointed in the price I paid for this sad bad tasting salad (and I normally love salad!) At least the dressing tasted good. We gave this location our third and final visit, this past Sunday. All three of our visits were a party of 5-8. All three were lunch visits on Sundays. All visits were this year. The first two visits, the service was okay. The food was hit and miss per plate, but we did not complain. However, this visit the server was horrible, very non-attentive, each person repeated their order a couple times, direct from menu, no special orders, no changes. Every dish was HORRIBLE, from BROWN guacamole, to full lettuce cores in salads. Asked the server for assistance , to no avail, in fact he started sending a young girl to our table to drop of next dish. Yes, from the first person being served the last person was a good 30 minutes later. Requested drink refills also to no avail. I could go on, and on. Asked for the manager, again to no avail, either busy in the back or not onsite. We paid the bill, and as a group concurred never again, Reno location. read more

Waited 25 minutes for a table even though it was not busy and then another 40 minutes for our food. Waiter kept touching his face and messing with his beard which was grossing us up because then he was the one bringing out the plates of food, just felt gross and know you should not be touching your face then handling peoples plate of food or drinks. Even the bathrooms were gross with huge spit balls which were not spit balls on the wall. I think something happened to this place with new management or something because it feels run down with simple things broken that should be repaired like soap dispensers and ripped seat cushions. And customer service and attention to level of hospitality is severely lacking. We will not be back no matter what, I'm afraid what the kitchen looked like from where our food came. read more

They are out of everything so often, I don't think they actually order things in if they just don't feel like it.

I didn't expect this visit to be so on-point but it was exactly what mom and dad needed on their date day. Pro-tip #1: The bar seating really is great. No wait. Don't go for a table/wait for room if there are open seats in the bar anywhere. Service is fast, food is hot and drinks are freshly-poured. Br seating offers good people watching too, and you are close to screens if sports are your thing. Pro-tip #2: If you hear Kimmy is working, definitely ask to be in her area. She was great, and I was serious when I invited her to sit with us. She sadly declined. Overall, she was so friendly and professional and she made the trip memorable. Pro tip #3: If you're a fan of the in-house brewed red ale and also of cider, order a "Jerry Burst". It's a half-and-half of their Jeremiah Red and Berry Burst Cider and its just sweet enough. Pro-tip #4: Order the trip-tip wedge salad. I wanted their caprese originally, but wedge is always good, and then add meat? Heck yes! It was fantastic with the chimichurri on top too- those flavors all mixed so well with the blue cheese dressing and there was nothing else needed. We also had the lemon pepper wings and a supreme pizza. The wings are super meaty/large. The pizza was heavy on the toppings, and the crust was cooked to perfection with that little bit of crunch that is buttery and leaves you wanting more. Pro-tip #5: They have six packs to go, so you could potentially make your own Jerry Bursts at home if you wanted to...Just saying. Can't wait to go back! read more

My daughter and I always have a good experience at BJ's. We decided to try a different location and we still had a really good experience. Service was quick and the server was super friendly and accommodating. My daughter asked for ranch and they only give tiny little ramekins and when she asked for more the server said "I don't know why they serve such small portions now". I keep going back and forth on making this a 1 or 2 star review. The saving grace of this visit was our waitress Madeline. She was attentive, honest, and friendly. Let me start the experience with the drinks. My Tito's Strawberry Lemonade was EXTREMELY sour with very little strawberry. The espresso martini was BEYOND DELICIOUS! One of the best I have ever had. My husband's beer was good: nothing special...just a beer. We did the crispy calamari for an appetizer because our #1 and #2 picks were sold out. It was decent (very large portion), but nothing to write home about. For me, the sauces were better than the calamari. My husband did the crispy jalapeño burger. It was cooked well and seasoned perfectly. Now for the issue that brings this review to such a low score: my entrée. I ordered the Enlightened Cherry Chipotle Glazed Salmon. According to both the online menu and the printed menu, the salmon should come with roasted asparagus fire-roasted red pepper, tomato + spinach couscous. I have had this dish several times (usually it is my favorite) and previously it has always been served looking extremely similar to the menu pictures. Tonight's salmon was delivered with a couscous that looked like it was cooked in a pan that was unclean/had leftovers from the last thing cooked in it. The couscous was extremely brown, and had onions in it. It also had an unpleasant smell to it. This was not edible for me as I AM ALLERGIC TO ONIONS. One of the reasons I normally order this dish is because it does not contain onions. Madeline saw the issue instantly when looking at my plate and notified the manager. When he came to the table he was A COMPLETE JERK! He approached the table, chuckling, rolling his eyes, and saying " I heard you had a problem with our food at this table." When I pointed out to him the difference between the menu and my plate and explained to him I'm allergic to onions, he laughed again and said "well the menu doesn't list all ingredients." He did offer me a new entree, but I did not take him up on it considering his statement was "Well, what DO you want to eat then I guess I can TRY to get you something different" with another eye roll. He did end up taking the dish off of our check since all I ate (could eat) was the top part of the salmon. Which btw- was delicious! Cooked perfectly, was light and flaky, and the glaze was on point! This manager was extremely disrespectful, rude, and was clearly protecting the kitchen while not caring for the patrons. With around 20 years experience in restaurants, his behavior was not OK nor was his excuse when clearly a pan was reused for my dish before being properly cleaned out. Hopefully corporate will check in on this location to put an end to his attitude and before he sends someone to the hospital. read more

Worst dining experience at BJ's ever! 1). Quoted 20 min wait upon walking in, but received text message after walk-in that wait would be 35 minutes. 2). After being seated, we waited 15 minutes until I had to grab a host. I noticed other tables were greeted immediately getting their drink orders in, yet we were ignored. After bringing this up to our hostess, the server stated he was never told about our table...yet he was the server for that area...??? Total BS. 3). Because we had several minutes to look at the menu, we placed our appetizer, drink, and dinner order immediately, say at 6:15 p.m. There was one update from our sever about the kitchen status, and by 7:00 p.m. still nothing. Food came out shortly thereafter, yet, nothing to boast about lukewarm food (really for burgers, chicken tenders, pasta) after waiting for a while. Felt neglected by staff which should not happen at a restaurant. Too many red flags with the horrible customer service experience, and we should have left earlier. The server apologized and said he would grab the manager, yet they were AWOL. Paid the mobile bill and left. Anyways, we'll be avoiding this establishment like the plague, so caution when deciding to dine there. read more

I am visiting here in Dayton and my Dad likes BJ's so we are here having lunch. My Dad had the soup bowl and house salad. I ordered the salad with strawberries it had chicken and mandarin orange slices and pecans. There were hardly any pecans or strawberries the salad dressing wasn't very good. We ordered an appetizer with our drinks my dad had a beer and I ordered an ice tea. The ice tea was way to strong and we ordered the appetizer a head of our meals, my dads salad was served way before the appetizer arrived which by the way the avocado spring rolls no flavor at all. I have been to BJ's before in different cities and I have to say I have yet to be impressed with the food. The atmosphere is nice but the food is nothing to write home about. I am sad to say that this one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. To start, it took over 20 minutes after we were seated for anyone to come over to acknowledge us. We ordered our toddlers food first so he wouldn't get hangry but his came out 15 minutes after ours. When our food was brought out, we let the server know that we only had one set of silverware for the table of 5 people that we had. She then came back with one more set of silverware and 2 more napkins. She said they didn't have any more silverware and asked if we could share. We thought she was joking but she wasn't and left the table. I ordered a salad and the lettuce was wilted and the other veggies in it were hard. The grilled chicken on the salad was good so I ate that. My husband and mother in law both ordered pizza and their food was good which is the only reason for the 2 stars instead of 1. I've never been asked to share napkins and silverware at a restaurant and was floored that it happened at a large chain like BJ's. Super disappointed and won't be back anytime soon. read more

It's an average restaurant-average food, average service-which is still good, and I'm giving them an average rating. We had the ribs and jambalaya. The kids liked the ribs but not the coleslaw. The jambalaya was good but not worth $23. It's a clean restaurant and I like their beer selections but overall not somewhere I would visit-unless the grandkids ask me to! read more

Pretty good food, and good service. We came in for dinner and it was pretty full so we sat at the bar. We had the potstickers and they were pretty good, I didn't really like the sesame seeds on top but personal preference. Usually when I go to BJ's I get the rib-eye with bacon jam. Today I opted for the double pork chop with bacon jam and it came out pretty good. You can't go wrong with the bacon jam, it's my favorite topping. Pork chop had a light tiny crust which was pretty good and it's a pretty thick. Had a side of mashed potato's which was creamy and fluffy. My partner had the Italian chicken parm and it was crunchy and cheesy. Overall great experience, and friendly atmosphere. read more

We stopped by for dinner here in South Reno on June 25 2024, after deciding to never visit the Sparks BJ'S ever again ( See my October 2022 and June 2023 reviews at the Sparks location). We sat ourselves in the bar area and after perusing the large menu, we decided on the deep dish pizza appetizer and the Hickory Brisket sandwich. The pizza would have been more enjoyable if it had arrived hot instead of barely warm, but it was tasty. Warning : the Hickory Brisket sandwich should ONLY be ordered if you are REALLY HUNGRY....this meal is beast- like, and delicious. I noticed that the music volume and selection was pretty good- seems like Management read someone else's review a few weeks earlier? Our waitress was super- she seemed to be the only one taking care of all the bar area tables, which did not seem fair to her. That would explain the lack of any drink refills, but she was super nice and tried to be everywhere at once. Oddly, I always note servers' names,but the name on the receipt says "Sara B", and I could have SWORN her name tag said "Kayla" or possibly some other name. I guess I'm losing it! After three hours at the Apple store and a trip to Lush, both, also in the Summit Sierra shopping center, we decided it was time for dinner. We've always loved BJ's! The meat was cooked perfectly, the fries, as usual, were really good, and the Pizookie was a Pizookie! Need I say more? I love that they have sealed ice cream cups that you can take home if you can't eat your Pizookie, and know ahead of time that you can't. That made traveling home a lot easier. I highly recommend the avocado eggrolls too! Even when I try to pass them up, I just can't! Will power is lacking. read more

Friends of ours wanted to get together and the place we wanted to go was closed on a Monday so we decided to give BJ's another try. I wasn't too enthused about going as the last time, the food and service were subpar. Well I guess management listened and made some changes and really stepped up their game. Since it was happy hour, we ordered drinks and appetizers. What struck us was how many things were on happy hour prices, which were more than reasonable. All of the things we ordered came quickly, and they were far better than the last time we were here. The only quibble I have, and it is really minor, is the noise level can be a bit high when the place is full. Still, it does make the mood lively and upbeat. Haven't been to BJ's since the start of the pandemic. The menu has been extremely truncated, which is unfortunate because the variety was the biggest reason we go. The food was decent. I had the hickory brisket bacon burger. It was juicy and the bacon definitely crispy. My husband had the kale Brussel sprout salad. It had grapes, cranberries candy pecans, blueberries and goat cheese and no kale. We both felt like the Brussel sprouts didn't make a lot of sense and didn't bring much to the plate. Maybe we'll wait again to come when the menu is expanded again. It's too expensive for what you get. read more

I've only been to the Sparks location once and I found their menu interesting; so we figured we'd give the Reno location a try. Our party ordered some sliders with fries, Margherita flatbread and an order of fried calamari. For our entrees, a few people order the grilled chicken fettuccine Alfredo, one ordered the classic Prime Rib dip. New Orleans Jambalaya and a full rack of baby-back ribs. For dessert, we received complimentary chocolate chip and strawberry shortcake pizzokie, plus ordered a spare sugar cookie pizzokie. All the food tasted great and the portions were huge, so there was plenty of leftovers. But more importantly, the service was exquisite; I wished I caught the young man's name because he had the patience of a saint and his good humor made our dining experience truly positive. read more

We went here last night during happy hour, which is from 3:00-7:00pm Mon-Fri and 9:00pm to close, Sun-Thurs. We arrived at 4:45 and there was plenty of seating in the bar area, which was nice especially since it was a Friday night. We order 2 mini deep-dish pizzas, which are half off during happy hour. I order the great white, which had grilled chicken, creamy alfredo, mushrooms, roasted garlic, parmesan cheese, and seasoned tomatoes. I was somewhat disappointed when it arrived. There was hardly any sauce on it and barely any toppings. I felt like I was eating only bread with a little bit of chicken on it. I asked that it be extra well done so that the bottom would be nice a crispy, but there was crispy at the bottom, oh well. My husband ordered Bj's favorite mini-deep dish which had, housemade meatballs, pepperoni, Italian sausage, mushrooms, green bell peppers, black olives, onions, and seasoned tomatoes. His pizza was better and filled with toppings. It's a classic/safe choice. We also ordered Bj's Kickin Chicken, which had crispy fried chicken, spicy sriracha slaw, chipotle mayonnaise, dill pickles, toasted parker house bun, fries, sriracha, and creamy sriracha aioli served on the side, and a side of BJ's signature coleslaw. The chicken sandwich was really really good. The chicken was crispy and the toppings complimented the sandwich. The fries were also really good, super crispy and lightly battered. The coleslaw had a little bit too much mayo on it, so that went untouched. But I would order this again. If you haven't been here, they also have a wide array of beers on tap, and their pazookies are a definite must-order! If you come here on a Friday night, come earlier so that you can beat the crowd or make a reservation. I think it's safe to say that this would also include Saturday night and most likely Sunday night. read more

I had lunch at this restaurant today. It was packed and doing a brisk lunch trade. Even though it was crowed, it was not loud and conversing was easy. We chose to sit at the bar as there was a 15-20 minute wait for a table. The bartender was personal with a fun attitude and most efficient. I ordered the lunch special (bottomless soup & salad) and had the Cesar's salad with clam chowder which was delish! The lunch specials are $13 and come with a cookie Sunday, your choice on cookie and flavor of ice cream. I had the chocolate chunk cookie but decided on no ice cream so I could take the cookie home. My friend had the salad with chicken and strawberries. Both of us were very pleased with our meals. Definitely a good place for lunch! read more
