This place is super convenient (I remember the days when The Spectrum didn't have any good coffee aside from Starbucks) BLK DOT is not my favorite - from experience, this place is always a hit or miss and never consistent with their drink quality or taste (not sure if that's just an issue at this location) but they're a good choice if you're desperate for a good bev while walking around the spectrum! They also have an expansive menu with teas, milk teas, and blended drinks in addition to your more traditional coffee drinks. I like their iced spanish latte with oat milk and mint coffee. Don't worry about long lines it moves quite fast. They also have a nice little shaded outdoor patio with a couple of tables and chairs for resting your legs from your shopping spree ;) read more

The ice was delicious and it fell 3/4 of the cup. my Matcha was consumed in 4 to 5 sips. I'm not a fan of coffee but I know coffee lovers love this place. What I did order on my most recent trip was a yummy hot chai latte with oat milk and they're banh mi chicken sandwich. The chai was pretty good not the best I've ever had but good. The banh mi on the other hand was amazing. The bread was so soft and the dressing were just enough. The VTM coffee is sweet, strong, and delicious! I ordered the hot VTM coffee and it was good! If you're not into sweet or strong coffee with a nutty hazelnut flavor to it, the VTM or LVTM is not for you here. This is the only place that serves vietnamese coffee (VTM) hot and it's good - so good! I think I prefer it hot over cold after having it from BLK Dot. My only gripe is that it's pretty pricey for a coffee even though I know that specialty cafe's these days charge a pretty penny for coffee, but $4.65 for a small hot coffee is s bit pricey for me so that's why I took off one star. Other than that, I highly recommend trying BLK Dot especially the hot version of VTM or LVTM which is a lighter version of VTM! read more

Great coffee shop that offers a variety of drinks with their specialty being the Vietnamese coffee. They also offer a range of avocado toasts that are made with freshly baked artisan bread and perfectly ripe avocado. I usually order the regular avocado toast which is thick toasted bread with cherry tomatoes, sliced avocados, black pepper and chia seeds. I've gotten their avocado toasts numerous times and I'm not sure how they manage to get perfect avocados that are nicely ripe and fresh every time. I've tried avocado toasts at many different places but this place is definitely my go to for avocado toast. The avocado is mild and creamy and the cherry tomatoes add a nice subtle tang and sweetness. The bread is crispy yet soft in the center. I usually ask for lemon pepper on the side to add a bit flavor to the toast. I also ordered their Iced Thai Pumpkin Spice which is pumpkin spice Thai tea with a layer of black Vietnamese coffee on top. It has a nice pumpkin flavor and is a good level of sweetness. To me, it tasted like a regular pumpkin spice latte but was still good nonetheless. Since this is located at Irvine Spectrum, there is a large parking lot nearby. Kind of a disappointing experience. I ordered the wild brekkie bowl and avocado toast and it doesn't look close to the photo. The avocado toast had like 5 tiny slices of tomato on it. We didn't even know about this place but wanted an afternoon coffee and coincidentally walked by and saw a line out the door! My bf said it was a sign to try it so we did. We almost didn't because of the line but saw how quick it was moving. We decided to get a Sea Salt Cold Brew and a VTMatcha. They were both delicious but very different. Sea Salt Cold Brew was very smooth and creamy and VTMatcha was on the sweeter side but the flavor was SO good. We sipped each others to balance it out. COVID-19 Order online, or in person at a small window. Ordering online is just using the website and putting in card info, they notify you by email when your order is ready. They set up a table outside with a digital pos machine, only card accepted. Closes at 5pm m-th and 7pm Friday. Really efficient and contactless :). I only get the HVTM/LVTM. The HVTM is a lot stronger in flavor and sweeter, either way I just like to sip on it. Changing ice levels does cost an extra 0.6- $1.2 ( for no/light ice) so don't bother because its pretty concentrated enough to taste good with ice. It can be a bit pricy, but the flavor has more depth than starbucks so its all good. Spectrum itself is very empty with only food places open for takeout/online pick up. There's a lot of nice workers going around sanitising chairs and tables if you would like to sit around while waiting, but most of it is pick it up. At least a lot of parking space :). I just left from this place and was very disappointed. I used to love coming to BLKdot coffee but lately my experiences have not been good. I came in today morning (Sunday morning) and had a horrible experience. My sister and I ordered a cold brew with extra almond milk and a vanilla latte with almond milk. When we got both drinks, they were both wrong. She didn't get any almond milk in her drink and I got a regular latte. We went back to get our drinks fixed and the lady that helped us was very rude. She remade my vanilla latte but gave my sister a cup of milk so she could do it herself which was very rude. The cups were sticky and it was just a mess. We also ordered the caprese avocado toast and she said it would take about 20 minutes. We waited 35 minutes until it was ready and it wasn't even warm. It was still pretty good for the most part but was not sure what took so long? The staff were not friendly and looked like they hate their jobs which is not good for a coffee shop. This place has great coffee and I have been a longtime customer. But the lack of organization surrounding olo/pickup orders is insane. I order ahead to avoid the wait, yet it always takes at least 10 minutes (past the estimated pickup time) to get my order when I can see the drink sitting on the olo shelf. It's one thing if it's not ready, but if it's already on the shelf... it takes 5 seconds to grab it and put it on the counter. This specific location always gives me a problem whenever I go to pick up my order. Despite usually two workers being stationed near the pickup counter, it usually takes 5-10 minutes for one to even look my way and even then, help is not guaranteed. I understand this location gets busy, and it's not always convenient for the workers to attend to pickups. I suggest that management find an alternative (i.e. putting the drinks out already like Philz or having an entirely different section for pickups) that can help both their workers and customers alike. As someone who has worked in food service, I understand the struggles that come with rushes and I don't blame the workers. But this has happened too many times to the point where management should consider making some changes to help their business function more efficiently. read more

However, I thought it was overpriced AF: 3 Stars. Secondarily, the bagel was hard as a rock even though it was toasted: 1 Star. Regarding the ambiance, its your typical order at the counter, wait for your drink set up. Nonetheless, there are limited places to sit: 2 Stars. The service was friendly and efficient: 3 Stars.
