DO NOT ORDER your thanksgiving meal here!!!! I ordered online to be picked up today for thanksgiving. First it's VERY disorganized. It's supposed to be curbside pick up but was told "it's not happening". When I called the number no answer. Inside the store they couldn't find my receipt and was just told to go at the back of the store to pick up my order. The photo is how it looks like at the back of the store. The orders were not ready!!! The whole point of ordering is to save time. But no we've been standing here for more than 30mins. The line Barely moved because there's only two employees working. There orders were not ready they have to pack each order. If i could cancel I would. Horrible horrible horrible service. PS by the time I got my order, I've been in line for a hour. We love to visit here when we are in town. We were seated promptly. The server was in training. I asked for extra napkins for my grandson and she pointed to one on the table and said you have napkins. I hope she eventually learns the ropes. The food was delicious as always. Awful service. I watched an elderly gentleman walk in and stand for at least 15 minutes before even being acknowledged. The wait staff stood around and bickered with each other and complained of the kitchen staff the entire time. They had people waiting to be seated and checkout, and all were just standing at the counter waiting for food to come out. The restaurant itself was dirty and the staff lacked any bit of professionalism ever possible. I'm embarrassed that I even placed an order here. read more

Food was great....we had an omelet (3meat). Sadly they are understaffed. But we all know since Covid people refuse to work. They had one lady manning the register and seating. She was spread very thin but thankfully people were kind to her as she was hustling to keep everything going. The waitstaff did a great job too and it looked like they only had 2 so they were short staffed in their area too. Not sure of kitchen staff and we didn't see a manager. In cases like today you would think a manager would be more hands on (maybe they were working in the kitchen). It's been a long time since we've been to this restaurant as we don't go to this area often. But I remember the great breakfast goods there when hubby's mother was still alive and lived in this area. HELLO BOB EVANS MANAGEMENT Starting at the beginning of the pandemic we've ordered food from Bob Evans about forty times. Comfort food, you need it so you get it... Call me a glutton for punishment but we've hardly ever had an order arrive (we use Grubhub or doordash) that was correct. Often there are entire meals missing. ALWAYS there is one side or a coffee drink missing. Why do I keep ordering? We like having breakfast delivered. I quit cooking about five years ago. I'm in my sixties and I'd been cooking for 40 years. I was burnt out and now it's just my husband and me so I've been able to figure out how we can eat a healty diet while using take-out and pre-made meals and minimal cooking on my husband's part. It's not that I never cook, it's just that I almost always don't want to. If the order doesn't come to us with everything we've paid for, we easily contact them and they give us our money back as a credit on our next order. Today I got a credit from Doordash that amounted to 18.54. This was because Bob Evans didn't give us the order of loaded hashbrowns that my husband likes to order because he has it for breakfast the next day (usually Monday--he likes to start the week with something yummy). They also failed to give us two coffee drinks - over 4.00 each, and failed to give me my bacon and my toast. It was supposed to be sourdough toast and I was really looking forward to it. Why can't this restaurant get it right? Everyone whines about their businesses struggling. If I owned a business like this I would be hands-on until everyone was trained. What is going on here? Can you not check an order as it comes off the line and check it again before it goes out? That is the only safeguard you have to make sure your customer ends up happy- that and good food of course but you guys have an excellent set of cooks and you know this. Your food is very good. People like takeout. Don't offer it if you're not willing to do the extra work necessary to make sure it goes out exactly right. We, as customers, pay extra for the service. We are tipping the driver. It isn't the driver's fault. It is the fault of the restaurant. It isn't the food delivery service. You stapled up the bag and didn't care AT ALL if you were ripping us off to the tune of 18.54 or not. So, to anyone reading this, clue in the restaurants that you frequent that they will LOSE YOUR BUSINESS and the business of others if they don't figure this out. Manager- check your orders or give someone a raise to do it for you then check their work now and then. Look for a kid who wants to do well and put them in charge of it and then pay them for their good work. Quit putting that money in your own pocket when you are only doing a half-assed job. Build something great instead of mediocre. Take some pride. OR go play golf. Hmmmm????? read more

Several days ahead of Thanksgiving, I ordered their Family Meal online through the Bob Evans website. It was supposed to include turkey with dressing, ham and several side items for six people. It actually arrived a few minutes ahead of time, for which I was grateful. However, both the meats and the dressing were missing from the order. The only things that was delivered were the mediocre side orders. It totally ruined our meal. If that was not bad enough, when I called them about the missing main course, they blamed it on DoorDash and said I had to get a refund from DoorDash. DoorDash said since I had put the order through Bob Evans and they had all my information etc, it was their responsibility. I agreed; my contract was with Bob Evans. They created the menu and knew what was included in the order, not DoorDash. After talking with DoorDash, I called Bob Evans once again. The person who answered the phone was very rude and actually hung up on me. When I called back for a third time, I got her again and she finally agreed to give me a full refund and told me not to call back again. I gave them the benefit of doubt and did not call back again until it had been five days and still had not received a refund. I called on the fifth day and asked to speak to a manager. He apologized for my issue and said he would put through a refund. It has now been eleven days, and no refund. Of course I have put through a dispute with my credit card, and eventually will get my money back. Needless to say, I will not order from them again. read more

Much effort went into making their BLT. Bread grilled buttered ala grill cheese. 4 to 5 slices of bacon. 4 fresh tomatoes and green leaf lettuce. Bob Evans is sort of an upscale Denny's, with a more attractive exterior, and we stumbled upon it after giving up on a trek to downtown Jacksonville (traffic). This one was well-run and well staffed: the manager checked on us frequently and server "Adam" was on top of his game, making unobtrusive, helpful suggestions. And one of those suggestions was - oh, Lordy - candied bacon, and it combined sweet and salt in a delightfully heavy, contemptuous-of-vegans sort of way. I had it alongside chicken soup: not-so-Jewish penicillin. I had the three cheese burger: fresh pickles, great bread, and a large, nicely cooked and flavored patty. With a side of unusually well prepared hash browns, it revived my zest for life. My companion had the turkey and dressing, which looked just like the picture in the menu and was just right, with plenty of dressing and bacony green beans. It's so nice to take a wild guess on a restaurant and have it be a winner - it's like finding money in your pants. Or anyone's pants. Well done, Bob. Bill: $34 after tip. Calorie count: Who knows? The service was extremely slow despite not many customers at tables. But they only had 2 servers. After getting a table it took 8 minutes to have our drink order taken. While the waitress "went" to get our drinks she was waiting on other tables. Maybe that's because I ordered water and my wife ordered sweet tea. When she spotted that I was watching her, she finally brought our drinks and took our order. The food took a long time to arrive. My eggs and hash browns were cold. The bacon was thin and bland. I had visited family while visiting Jacksonville FL from Atlanta. The first Bob Evan's I went to was located in St. Louis and have wished we had a location in Atlanta. On the way in town to jacksonville however I noticed Bob Evan's and decided to take my cousin since he's never been. I wish I had the waitresses name, she was awesome. I usually go here to eat about once a week. My grown kids came into town for Christmas and wanted to eat here. It takes about 40 minutes to drive here. We get here and the hostess says it will take 20 minutes. Ok, no problem, as she says there is only 2 waitresses and 1 cook. Looking into the dining area there are 4 tables seated. We ask to go ahead and sit at a table, and she says no, we have to wait the full 20 minutes plus. We asked for other eat in restaurants locally, and she says there are none. We leave. Unfortunately for her we look up many on our phone. We proceed to a place 6 minutes down the road. We were on a waitlist, about 10 down. Told there were 2 waitresses and the kitchen was super busy. We were seated within 15 minutes! We waited about 30 or so minutes for our food and the service was awesome. This was on Monday, December 20 at 5:45pm. We won't be back to Bob Evans. read more

Living in Mandarin we try to find some good breakfast spots and Bob Evans has made the rotation. They have a breakfast I like (Farmers Breakfast) where you kinda get a lil of everything, eggs, homefries, bacon ( and they always do my Bacon right EXTRA crunchy!like almost burnt) and a side of pancakes,french toast, or crepes...I usually pick crepes. Bob Evans is a place I avoided for many years and I should have trusted my gut. When it first opened, I remember going for breakfast and wondering if the kitchen used salt for anything. The food was bland and I spent the next few years driving past the restaurant. Not too long ago, we took a chance had stopped for dinner. We had traditional fare reminiscent of a Denny's or Village Inn. It was hot and edible but nothing special. I remember seeing a breakfast item I wanted to try so we stopped in a couple weeks ago. Holy mistake, Batman. For breakfast, the dining room was bustling. We were seated and ordered drinks. As our waiter flipped over the mug to fill it with coffee, I said "Wait!" because the mug was filthy. A clean one was obtained and coffee poured. They had a number of flavored creamers at the table. My table mate didn't like a creamer she tried and our waiter brought a new mug of coffee. Very nice. My friend ordered a traditional breakfast with eggs, ham, home fries and a biscuit. She enjoyed her food although the ham was salty. I ordered multigrain hot cakes and sausage links. The sausage came out cooked a little crispy as requested. But I had plain hotcakes. The waiter admitted the mistake and the proper plate arrived shortly thereafter. But they were gross. I expected the "multigrain" to be in the pancakes but it was just thrown on top of plain pancakes. It was supposed to be granola, sunflower seeds and sesame seeds. The topping looked like it was run through a food processor raw. It looked and tasted like sawdust. The pancakes were really bad too. They were crispy on the outside but thin and almost undercooked in the middle. The batter needed more leavening and salt. It reminded me of glue. I didn't even finish one pancake and my friend tried them and agreed they were horrible. I'm giving 2 stars for our waiter. He was attentive, friendly, and didn't charge me for the sausage. So, if you really want to eat at Bob Evans, it seems the eggs, biscuits, and meats are decent. Avoid the pancakes like the plague. read more

We stopped here this morning for breakfast. The service was atrocious, from the person seating us, who never greeted us, she just picked up menus and started walking and then looked back to see if we were following. The waitress came and asked us what we wanted to drink, my husband asked for coffee and she asked him if he needed cream, he replied no just some plain milk, please. She gave him the strangest look. She came back with the coffee, milk and water for me. I ordered the breakfast biscuit sandwich and asked for the chicken sausage instead of pork products. She told me that she wasn't sure if the kitchen could do that since it was a link sausage. I told her all they had to do was cut it length wise and put it on the biscuit. My husband ordered eggs, bacon, etc. The food came out and was quite good. She left the check on the table and never came back to see if there was anything else she could get us. My husband would have liked a coffee refill, never happened. When we got up to the cashier, we were never greeted or asked if everything good. He never even thanked us for coming in. Except for the food, it wasn't a pleasant experience. Don't think we'll return for a long while. read more

All this time that I've lived in the South and I never ate at a Bob Evans. My friend, who I was with, was flabbergasted and had to fix this blasphemy. He kept going on and on about how Bob Evans is the place to go for comfort food. I ordered a sweet tea and it didn't come out sweet. I wasn't sure if this was by design or a mistake, so I just added sugar myself. I'm not really a complainer, especially if it is something that I can fix, so I just let it go, even though my friend insisted that I order another. Before our meal was brought out, we had some banana nut and apple bread that was so good. It was moist with little chunks of apple. The banana definitely overpowered the apple, but no complaints here. That was some good bread. I didn't really glance at the whole menu, as it was dinner time and I flipped straight to the back to figure out what to eat. My friend ordered fried chicken, mashed taters, and broccoli, while I ended up ordering meatloaf, green beans, and mashed taters. My meal was okay. Just okay. The meatloaf was way salty. I'm not sure if this was from the meatloaf, itself, or the gravy. It wasn't inedible, but I would never put that much salt into a meatloaf. I think there should have been a little more green beans on my plate as well. While we were finishing up dinner, a lady came around handing out coupons for a free dinner. It was instant rollback on our meal, which was rather nice. I'm not sure if it was a spontaneous thing that was done by the employees or if it was just a person doing a "pay it forward" thing. I really appreciate the restaurants that honor veterans with a meal on Veterans Day. I had not been to a Bob Evans before. We arrived this morning and the place was very busy. We were told there would be a 20 minute wait. This is kind of a good sign, right? The host seated us before 20 minutes so the wait was not bad. When we were seated the table was very sticky. We were greeted right away and the server that greeted us came back with a cloth for the table. She gave the cleaning a good try but the table still had sticky spots. I asked about the vet's special and the server brought me the catering flyer. Staff was friendly enough and running around like crazy. They may have been short staffed or something but I think they should plan and compensate for these busy days. I ordered the biscuits and gravy off the vet's special menu with hash browns very well done. My friend had the chicken fried steak breakfast with hash browns well done, and banana nut bread. We had coffee which was good, although even now I think $2.19 is high for coffee but I guess that is a sign of the times. I had asked the server to talk to the manager about getting a breakfast for my father who is also a veteran in the hospital. She said she would. When our meal arrived I could tell right away that the hash browns were not done, in fact, they were cold in the middle. The rest of the food was barely warm but edible. The chicken fried steak was a pre-breaded beef patty and pretty flavorless. The banana bread came pretty much raw and doughy and looked like someone stuck their thumb in it when they carried the plate. The server replaced it with some toast right away and my friend reports that the toast was very good. The biscuits and gravy were good with a good portion of sausage, and the eggs were cooked fine just wish they would have come to the table hot. The server hurriedly brought the check and did not ask if we needed anything else. As we were getting ready to leave she came and said that the manager was up front and we could ask her about the meal for my father. I told her that was ok the food wasn't that great any way. She kind of laughed it off and said "well, ok,". The cashier asked if everything was ok and when I said no, she convinced me to talk to the manager. Tara, the manager apologized profusely, would not let me pay for my friends meal and told me that she would be honored to send my father a meal. She made sure that the hash browns were very well done. My father has mesothelioma from being exposed to asbestos on the navy ships, and was admitted to the hospital last night again. He REALLY appreciated the meal and said that it was all wonderful. Tara told me that they specifically do the veterans day to honor and thank vet's and that we are her customers 365 days of the year and she doesn't want to make an excuse that it is a busy day, to let us have a bad experience. Because of Tara I will give Bob Evans another chance and try the bacon and french toast which really looked good. If you are in the area you should give it a shot I think. read more

French toast was excellent. Love love love their sausage parties that are spicy and flavorful. Bacon was sitting in pool of grease so not so good although it is quality bacon that was very good. We used to go to the Hartley Rd location about once a week. The last two times have changed our minds about going to Bob's. The usually delicious soft rolls were either stale or over-baked. Hard as a rock. The food wasn't up to par either. It took forever to reach our table. Not enough staff to take care of call in orders and dining room orders. We gave them another chance. When we walked in we were told there would be at least a 45 minute wait to get our orders. Again not enough staff. Enjoyed having breakfast at your location(#420) this past Sunday. The food was great the service was good. A little slow but hey it was fathers day and you were very busy. The only disappointing part of the visit came when I went to the cashier to pay for our meals. I handed her my credit card and the table bill. She pulled up the info on the POS and then asked me if I wanted to add a tip amount. I was caught off guard as I had never, in my 56 years, been asked if I wanted to add a tip. That is something that a customer will leave on the table or write for themselves on the presented check. I did not remember the exact amount and I was given the impression(by her action) that this would be the only time I could add a tip. So I told her to add 20%. To a greater surprise, she told me she could not do it that way. A server( a nice young man) watched this whole event. He tried to explain how to calculate 20%. Trying to make it simple, I told her it would be 2x the amount of 10%. She printed the receipt and handed me a pen. What do you know, a place on the receipt for me to add a gratuity. I guess I should not be shocked at her ignorance especially when these days some young adults can't even read the original Declaration Of Independence. You have hired a person, in the position of CASHIER, that presents the impression that she is unable to solve a fourth-grade math problem. I don't know what is worse, her ignorance and the presented attitude she is unwilling to learn from a co-worker or management's vetting of her educational background. While some may view this feedback as harsh, I feel it is an opportunity for management to provide the proper training to help the employee meet and or exceed her position's job requirements. Oh, One more little thing, No matter how bad a day an employee might be having, It is best to thank the customer for their patronage. read more

On July 22 I called in an order for lunch/breakfast on the online system. From my experience. Don't order online!!!! You won't get your money back if you have a problem. Our family used to order online every Sunday. So we are long time customers. When my husband got the food and brought it home it was all wrong- missing a roll, missing carrots with my daughters meal, missing sour cream and scallions with the border scrambles. So I got back in the car and returned the meal. The young man at the desk - Justin? (Not positive) said 'is your meal wrong I have your bread, we tried to call you' I said, yes but we also don't have the carrots. He said 'I'll have to get someone to go get them' after 15 minutes I say 'are the carrots still coming?' He says 'I'm the only one working here and I can't go back there right now' I said this is horrible service I just want a refund and I need to speak with the manager. So Shawna apologized and then realized I had an online preset and said she wasn't sure if the refund would even go through since it's a different system. She told me to call her the next week I'd i haven't received refund. I called her and she said she has to have gmanamger email corporate. Here we are August 5th with still no refund. This is horrible service and even worse follow through. We still haven't received our refund and I'm hoping that bob Evans around the country arent this poor in customer service. I just tried to leave customer service an email on their contact form on bob Evans.com doesn't submit the form. The phone number says they are there from 7-10 everyday to take calls, no reps can take your call. Ridiculous. Will never eat here again or trust their staff, general manager, corporate or brand again. read more

The one time my gf and I tried eating here was a COMPLETE WASTE. The food we ordered all of it came out cold. No hot food here. Luckily when we told the manager, he comped all of out food. We probably won't go back, my husband and I went there for our first time ever visit, I had called ahead to make sure they were open, they were. I had biscuits and gravy, my biscuits were like they've been out awhile, the gravy was not hot and I had to send it back to get it heated. My husbands eggs were dry and his home fries were NOT done. Bob Evans is a nice chain but the local one that's less than a quarter mile from my house is nice. Personally, I go there after a night of fun to recover and revitalize with some coffee and a beastly omelette. The wait times are usually non existent and the employees are on the ball. I even had the pleasure of going in there and a police officer requested a specific waitress help him. As someone who comes from the customer service field, I knew there was a rapport there and that is a great thing to have. We ordered biscuits and gravy expecting the traditional southern dish of white gravy and sausage atop one to three biscuits(depending on biscuit size). Instead we received brown gravy on top and it was disgusting. The rest of our table was only mildly pleased with their food. Came in with the grandparents and I was pleasantly surprised by this place. I had never been here before so I didn't really know what to expect. Our server was really friendly and was really patient with our family considering that we had two small kids and to elderly grandparents who are always unsure of what to eat. Our server let them order from the lunch portions and pretty much told us the whole menu is game. Their prices are very reasonable. Anywhere between $6 and up. I ended up getting the pot roast which didn't look too good but once I dug in, the taste was pretty good. Was it the best I ever had? No but was it tasty? Yes, and the mashed potatoes were plenty and the carrots were sweet and yummy. My only complaint was that I wanted more carrots. They bring an endless supply of bread which is great for me but sad for the hips! Their banana bread was good and so were their dinner rolls. The kiddo ended up getting the kids turkey dinner and the portion was so big that I couldn't believe it was a kids portion. The best part was that she actually ate it! Overall I definitely enjoyed coming here and plan on going back again. This place isn't a must try but if your looking for village inn meets IHOP then this is the place for you. :-) read more

This was my first time ever in a Bob Evans. From the moment I entered, I was enticed my the posters in the entry advertising their seasonal appetizers. A few more steps and I would find a display of candy and fresh baked goods. We were seated by a friendly hostess and served by an energetic waiter named Mark who delivered high quality customer service from beginning to end. When I suggested am interest in the blueberry bread, he zealously and immediately brought samples of both their blueberry and banana breads for us to try. Both were delicious. We both ordered the Sunshine Skillet with gravy in the side and substituted turkey sausage for pork. It was a right sided portion for a reasonable price. So in all my life I have never made into a Bob Evans until just the other day. We were looking for something a little different than the norm and recently a friend recommended Bob Evans so we stopped in. My Buddy ordered "The Big Breakfast" which actually should have been listed in the kids menu. This thing was a totally oxymoron, it was the smallest big I have ever seen. I ordered their Smokehouse burger and let's just say, the flavorless burger patty was overshadowed by the terrible overly liquid smoked chipotle sauce that went on the burger. Needless to say, in all my years I haven't missed anything and in all my future years I won't be back! I did keep it at 2 stars because the service was actually really good and everyone had a smile and was friendly... The food was just terrible and wasn't a good value. read more

I agree with Nathan M. My country fried steak meal was very average at best. I could have did a better job with the microwavable version. There was nothing spectacular. This was my 1st time visiting this restaurant. I won't try any more dinners from here. Maybe I'll try the breakfast next. read more
