I love black sesame, I love matcha, why not put the two together? You would think that the black sesame would over power the delicate flavors of matcha but in a latte this works really well! Normally, I would say most boba places are nearly same. I ordered a milk tea with grass jelly which is my standard drink at these places. I wasn't expecting much but the grass jelly here has a really good texture and has a little more chew than normal. It doesn't sound like a lot, but this separates it in a good way and makes its memorable. The flavor of the tea is great too with the right balance. And it's the three things I crave, banh mi, egg rolls and smoothie/milk tea. When I stop by here, there is usually metered parking around. Also, a rip off parking lot across the street. The first time I went here, I wasn't sure what I wanted to try since my usual favorites didn't exist here. Being a huge boba fan, I am very picky on how I like my drink as I hate powdered teas. The best is when it's fresh and that is how I view this shop. I think since this place is a "soft opening", they didn't have the rhythm of time of how long it takes to get a drink out when someone orders two and food. My first order was Jasmine MilI tea with oat milk and Thai milk tea with oat milk (25% sweet for both). The second time I went here, I was allowed to try the coffee jelly in the Viet. coffee milk tea and though I love coffee, I don't like the jelly. I think it's because it's too sweet for my taste and it reminds me of drinking black coffee with just sugar which I can't do. I never ordered this type of drink before so I didn't know what to expect. A new favorite of mine that this shop has is the M8 which is a Hokkaido Milk Tea with the caramel boba. I never had a caramel drink before like this either. I would probably ask for 25% sweet on this one as it was a bit too sweet but I still enjoyed it. I can't wait to go back and order this one and I don't know if I would want the boba each time though I do like how their boba is nice, soft and chewy. I find adding boba as a mood thing like you're in the mood to chew on something with it but sometimes you're not. The shop is really clean compared to other boba shops and I like how the second time I went, the drinks came out faster. I love how the cashier was really helpful and he is very kind. I like how the drinks come in a nice size than selecting if you want a regular or a large. It's like enough without being too much or too little. Also, you can get "stars" for their reward program which I know a lot of shops do not offer this. It's a nice perk and I hope that they stick around after the "soft opening". I'm ready to binge on more boba and then some at Boba Binge! Located on Webster Street in Oakland's Chinatown, Boba Binge is actually the newest purveyor of boba in a neighborhood that has an abundance of boba options. What sets Boba Binge apart from many of their competitors is that beyond the drinks that are associated with boba cafes, they also sell a number of food items including Vietnamese sandwiches, better known as Bahn Mis, Popcorn Chicken and Vietnamese Egg Rolls. What brought me on a recent visit to Boba Binge was a few errand runs in Oakland's Chinatown and as I managed to find street parking, I thought to myself that since it was a warm day, I should enjoy what Chinatown has to offer and see what boba options that I yet to discover in the area yet. As if something was calling me, perhaps it was Boba Binge's well kept exterior and bright interior that was beckoning me to become a customer. After walking around and seeing no other boba establishment as festive and inviting as Boba Binge, I was back! The beverage menu at Boba Binge is separated into categories including Freshly Brewed Tea, Fresh Fruit Tea, Salted Cream Cheese, Tornado, Milk Tea, Matcha, Caffeine-Free, Vietnamese Coffee, Smoothie, Slushy, and Brew Your Own Tea, where you can select your own brewed flavor of tea and milk option for your own unique combination. Since it was a warm day, I opted to order from their Salted Cream Cheese section of their menu, and there was something about their Thai Tea with Salted Cheese that was calling my name, so I opted to order this drink with an extra topping of Grass Jelly. For a friend who I was going to meet up with I ordered them a drink as well, and since they were a fan of anything strawberry, I opted to order them a Strawberry Banana Smoothie with the shop associates recommendation of an Egg Pudding topping. They also were nice enough to honor my Yelp check-in deal by giving me 10 percent off of my bill rather than the 5 percent than the offer was listed as, which was wonderful. So with two drinks that each had their own topping, my total bill was $11.70 before gratuity was added in, which was fairly reasonable and in line with what their many competitors in the area charge. It did take a brief moment for my drinks to come out, as they craft each of them by hand with their own unique set of ingredients as my Thai Tea came out first with its aromatic Thai Tea topped with a layer of creamy salted cheese foam when mixed with generous amounts of grass jelly. The Strawberry Banana Smoothie took a little while longer to come out as it was being blended on the spot and I was able to try a few sips and did not regret ordering this drink with the Egg Pudding as it was the first time I ever tried it and it was less gelatinous than the grass jelly and resembled larger chunks of mango but slightly softer and of course tasting slightly eggy but not too overpowering. It was the perfect compliment to the Strawberry Banana Smoothie as it was a combination that I didn't even know I needed in my life! I cannot wait to come back to Boba Binge and actually try some of their food items as many people were picking up third party orders of the Banh Mis and they so nicely prepared that I wouldn't mind ordering a sandwich to go with my frosty beverage, this time one of their Tornado drinks which look blended to perfection topped with perhaps coffee jelly, which I didn't even know could be a topping! At Boba Binge they have some truly original flavors, prepared with such detail and thoughtfulness. Here's to hoping that their continued success leads to more locations throughout the Bay Area! read more

Boba Binge is a new boba spot that has opened up in place of what if I remember correctly, used to be a Chinese medicine shop, on a corner that is basically right across from where i-Tea is (pretty daring to say the least, lol). The shop certainly looks nicely renovated, as the color schemes, the decor of the inside, are all slick and clean, which as much as I love ya Oakland Chinatown, stands out quite a bit in this particular location because of it. First things, first. The pricing here is going to be a bit more expensive than the other shops in the area, including i-Tea. They also use the tall slender cups, but then again, all the other places around that aren't i-Tea and actual boba shops do the same, so certainly not like they're the only ones, but bang for your buck consideration just keep this in mind whilst in Oakland Chinatown. They are more than just a boba shop though, as they also have banh mis as a part of their offerings. So you can have a bite and a drink on the go if you like (oh yeah, did I mention they don't have sit down available here yet?). The banh mis are also a bit pricier than the Vietnamese bakeries abound that also sell banh mis, but the ones here actually look pretty decent, so might give it a shot next time as it's still reasonably priced, as they should be considering their location. The staff here are friendly, albeit, it was mainly just the owner (I assume) that I dealt with directly. There was a slight hiccup with my drink, but he was more than willing to help resolve the issue without any problems or hoops for me to jump through. Definitely a sign of great customer service and willingness to make sure the customer is happy. So let's get to the drinks. There's not a ton of options here, but there's enough options that everyone should be interested in at least something being offered. They obviously don't have the extensive options like i-Tea or Golden Tea Shop, but it's enough for your casual boba drinkers. I decided to go with the passion fruit green tea today, with boba. The passion fruit green tea was actually quite nice. I think if I were to compare it with i-Teas passion fruit green tea, it's pretty much on par flavor wise, though I feel that Boba Binge's passion fruit flavors are slightly better, as you can tell that they put a bit more of the flavorings into their cup as well so it's fruitier. Their passion fruit does have seeds in it, but for someone who doesn't like passion fruit seeds in their boba, this was very, very minimal and I barely even noticed once I started drinking. The boba here was also good. Definitely more on the QQ side than not for boba. So, will I be back again in the future? Yes, I'll probably pop by again in the future, especially if both i-Tea and Golden Tea Shop have a line of people waiting to order/on their drinks. Since Boba Binge is new, it probably doesn't quite have as much traffic yet, but out of all 3 locations, it is hands down the nicest one decor wise. There aren't issues with credit card use here, which is a big plus as the other spots needs a minimum use or else they'll charge you a fee. I mean, no credit card fee or minimum charge in Oakland Chinatown? It's basically like finding a unicorn. Flavors are great for what I did order today, and boba was nicely QQ. And honestly, the way the owner (again, assuming) was willing to help fix the slight issue for me without question is always a plus. read more

After every order you can hear her walking to the back huffing and puffing, talking shit. The boba was tasteless. There was nothing ceremonial about their match. Real ceremonial matcha is bright green and full of flavor . Theirs was giving Temu and almost looked muddy. The popcorn chicken had absolutely no flavor at all and was accompanied by a sriracha which made things even worse. Solid boba! So many choices in toppings and variety of drinks! All avo drinks use REAL avocado! There also Vietnamese egg coffee which is something I haven't seen that often. Assam milk tea was flavorful and delicious! Easily becoming one of my fave spots in Oakland. I typically opt for the Vietnamese Egg Coffee and it is DELICIOUS. Super creamy and packs a kick too which helps me stay alert throughout the day. Thought oh maybe it's just a piece of green tea leaf. The closer I looked the worst it got. There are pieces of moldy looking brown things and 1 black floater that looks like an ant from afar but when you look closer it looks like lint with a piece of hair attached to it!!!! You can't go wrong with their Chicken or Pork sandwiches. I don't know what recipe they used but the meat is so flavorful and tender. Service is another five star.
