I really did not have a good experience here at all tonight. Starting off, i'd like to just say that they got 26 people in for a reservation on very short notice. They we're very helpful while making the reservation, but that's about where the good stuff ends. We get in there, and there's only 18 seats. No big deal we think, and we grab another table from near by. They tell us that they can't take it, and that there's nothing they can really do. 8 girls we're left mortified, standing there for 10 minutes waiting for another table. When we finally get into the table, we are met by a very friendly waitress. There's four of us at the table, and we all give her our drink orders. It's another 30 minutes until we see her again. Once she finally comes back, she asks what we wants to eat. We order a appetizer of nachos, a hot dog, chicken and waffles, and a grilled cheese, and a side ceaser salad. A pretty simple order. Knowing that we are with a large group, I knew that it might take some time getting everyone their food. Maybe 25-45 minutes. It took 50 just for the appetizer. Nachos-Over filled and hard. Looks like they have been sitting under a heat lamp. Tastes gross, like soap. The tomatoes tasted fresh, though, so plus for that. About 30 minutes after that, the entrees came out. Here's what every person had to say about their meals. Hot dog- Under welming, boiled hot dog. Very mediocre for the price. Grilled cheese-your average, normal grilled cheese. fries were good though Chicken and waffles- Burnt waffles, and the chickens breading still had in mixed flour left on the bottom in each tender. Okay taste, okay size for price. Ceaser salad- Pretty good, great dressing. Overall, I wasn't impressed. It was a random winter day turning a hockey tournament weekend, so I wasn't expecting much, but this little? Woo Wee. All I can say is that i'm not going back anytime soon. read more

The food is good, but if you don't feel like waiting a while for your meal, I would look elsewhere. From the moment we walked in, to the moment we left, it was over an hour and a half. And that wasn't because we were talking or taking our time. The first time we went to Bobby Byrne's in Hyannis, we went for lunch and the service was very slow. We figured maybe dinner was going to be better. Definitely not. There is no apologizes for the wait and the waitresses are usually hard to find when you need them. What a great surprise to find this warm, comfortable pub in the middle of a Hyannis strip mall. Could not be happier that we gave it a try. Service was pleasant and helpful. One of the more interesting menus on Cape Cod (so many more choices than just lobster rolls and fish & chips!) Food was outstanding, served quickly and at the perfect temperature. I'm sure the teryaki chicken sandwich would have been wonderful, had it ever made it to my table. After an hour and 3 drinks later, the bartender was surprised when I reminded her of my order. Slowest service I have ever experienced. Decided to sit at a table and waited over 10 minutes before even being acknowledged place was way understaffed and the bartender was like a turtle. Suggestion to management put extra staff on they can't handle the customers . The food is not what it was in the past but we were hungry. We had onion soup that looked delicious but didn't have flavor. Fried pickles we ok. Bar cheese and crackers we disgusting. the quahog was filled with wet stuffing , grilled chicken sandwich was decent. Stopped in for lunch while shopping. I had the steak tip special. Just enough for lunch. Perfectly cooked, the rice pilaf has a soy sauce flavor that I particularly enjoyed. Wife had the classic Rueben and was quite pleased. Relatively inexpensive. Our waitress was Jessica. Very attentive and sweet, everything you look for in a server. I work at an office in Hyannis, so every now and then we get takeout from Bobby Byrne's. I always order the grilled chicken sandwich with the honey mustard. The honey mustard makes the sandwich. The chicken is never overcooked, and I've never had it come out undercooked. They seem to know exactly when it's done. The fries are pretty standard, but that's expected these days. It's definitely a good comfort food place. I've never sat down to eat there, but the hostess is always friendly and has gone through the order with me to make sure it's exactly as we ordered it before I leave. I love this place. The food is very good and the service is just as good. I like the sandwiches the best. The spinach artichoke dip is pretty great ... The size could easily make it a meal. Wasn't impressed with the chicken salad but the chicken BLT is pretty good. My only gripe is that it can get pretty loud on Sundays when the football games are happening .. This place is pretty much as good as it gets. Spent the weekend on the cape and had an incredible mid-afternoon urge for buffalo wings,.. and seafood. This place had it and some! Not the lengthiest selection of wings but why they had fit the mold. I was only slightly vexed assuming a growing impression that the "chowda" was thick and hearty with potatoes more so than clam. Other than that everything was basically 100, our waitress Audina was the wisecracking pleasant type and we played a couple rounds of Keno while we waited. So this must be one of those places that gets their 4 or 5 star rating from fake reviews. I yelped this place before we were invited to a dinner with high hopes, seeing as it is somehow 4 stars. As we sat down we were greeted by a mopey girl who looked like she clearly did not want to be there. I ordered the baked scrod suggested by the people I was with (they are regulars) and got green beans on the side with mashed potatoes. When the food came out, it looked very.. fake. Not sure if that's the right word, but there was no sauce, the fish looked like a brick, the mashed potatoes had the smallest dollop of gravy, and my green beans were ENORMOUS and looked like plastic toys. The portion was revoltingly huge.. who eats that much? Guess it is quantity here instead of quality. Eating the food: My fish was dryer than the Sahara desert. It tasted like a huge previously frozen fish stick. The flakes of fish were hard, like it was on it's way to becoming fish jerky. If it was previously frozen, then shame on you, you seafood restaurant. If it was not, then double the shame on you for overcooking it by at least 10 minutes. I had a few bites as to not offend the people who were so excited to invite me here. The mashed potatoes.. I was so disappointed. I already hated my fish and was completely looking forward to my potatoes. I took one bite and had to force myself to swallow it. They were 100% SPUDS! You know, that fake stuff you can buy at your local grocery store and your kid can help you make in 5 minutes. I know because I have made these in college. Needless to say that was left untouched. The green beans.. by this time I had no hope left. And I was very right about that. The beans were about 8 inches long. Yes.. probably the only time I"ll say 8 inches is a bad thing.. but jesus christ what an unattractive presentation. I tried cutting it with my butter knife, which was fun, and finally got a piece small enough to eat. It tasted like plastic. It was just blanched and thrown on the plate. The spines were still in on both sides of the beans so it was like chewing through string. The skin was hard (as you would expect on an old 8 inch long bean), and there was not a hint of salt. I took back about 80% of my food saying I would eat it later. I didn't, but I think I made some raccoons quite happy. read more

I had the lunch portion of the chicken stuffed with cranberry cornbread with white gravy and a side of cranberry sauce. It came with mashed potatoes and veggies. I remember when it came out i was about to put salt on it when I thought, "Lemme taste it first." Thank goodness I didn't add salt because it tasted perfect! The chicken was also very tasty. It was literally a mini Thanksgiving meal. I usually go for a sandwich or burger for lunch, but I'm so glad I went with this meal. The service was also good and the waitress and hostess were very pleasant. So if you are getting tired of having clam chowder and lobster rolls, this is a nice change. read more

I'm not sure why I cringe anytime someone suggests Bobby Byrnes because every time I eat here I very much enjoy it. My brother decided on Bobby Byrnes for his family birthday dinner one Sunday recently. We were seated quickly and our waitress, Jessica was amazingly friendly and actually apologized TO US because when she came for our drink order my mom had taken a quick phone call and she didn't mean to interrupt. Working in the hospitality business myself I was pleasantly surprised at this. We all hate when someone is taking up our time on their phone call. But Jessica was very nice about it saying she understood people usually call during inconvenient times. We ordered our drinks while we waited on my brother who was running a few minutes late. When he arrived she took his order and his drink was out very quickly. For an appetizer we got bread and butter (which were made to order since I guess it's not actually on the menu) and kale soup. The soup came out super hot and was very chunky with fillings like beans and Lingucia. I usually hate beans but it's not so bad in soup. The ratio of kale was few and far between but absolutely no complaints about it because I ate it very fast and enjoyed every bite. For dinner I got chicken Parmesan. Other entrees were the buffalo chicken sandwich (customized) and the scallops (i believe. Idk I don't eat seafood). The owner (who I'm assuming to be the owner who was dressed in shorts and a short sleeve who had her young child walking around with her) brought out our food. I'm assuming they were short handed or there was a last second call out and the owner or manager rushed in since she didn't look to be in any discernible dress code. Again, I could care less what you're wearing so long as my food is decent. She was very pleasant. The food was great and I took home leftovers that went missing the next day which I was bummed out about because I thought about how delicious it'd be for dinner while I was at work. The service here was not great. I swear it took almost forever to get our initial drink order. Then it took forever to get the actual drinks. I could have consumed twice as much alcohol, drinking at my normal pace,with more prompt service. The food we got was pretty good, maybe a little short of outstanding. It would have been better had the waitress offered us ketchup for our fries; instead, we had to wait for her to come back a while later and ask. My girlfriend's steak looked a little on the skimpy side but the Cape Cod Reuben I had was pretty good. This place had a fairly broad range of menu options: full entrees, seafood, salads, sandwiches, etc., so with better service, this place could be pretty good. read more
