Tucked away in alphabet city is this small shop. It has a few tables and bar seating. The server is fair in that they won't serve incomplete parties. I came here on a Saturday night at 7pm and was told it'd be about a 30-45 min wait if I wanted a table but I'd be seated immediately if I opted for the bar seating, so of course I opted for bar seating. The menu isn't huge but has decent variety, albeit majority of it is fried something. Since this place is known for fried chicken, I ordered the chicken little plate at $12.75. It took about 35 minutes for food to arrive because it was quite busy but totally worth it. I had the excitement of a kid who just got a new toy when my food came out. There was a wing, drumstick, thigh, biscuit and fries. The chicken were all very juicy. The skin was crispy and flavorful. I only lamented I didn't order more. The fries were crispy and flavorful without being dry. The price wasn't too bad either and I throughly enjoyed the chicken, although I have my reservations if it's the best fried chicken. My daughter saw this place on Tik Tok and since we were going to NYC we decided to give it a try. We decided to order just one sandwich just in case it was disgusting. We ordered the chicken cesar wrap. If the chicken were hot, this wrap may have qualified for at least a 4 but since the chicken was just sort of warm, it gets a 3. Also the wrap was dry. Was searching for dinner while pet sitting in the neighborhood and had heard the chicken caesar salad wrap here was all the rage, so I decided to try. I can't believe it's taken me this long to have Bobwhite Counter! We ordered for delivery on a Monday night and were not disappointed. I had the Fried Chicken Sandwich and X had the 3 piece Fried Chicken. It came with a biscuit and he added fries. I also ordered a side of mac & cheese. Both orders of fried chicken were extremely moist and tender on the inside - and crispy on the outside. Being that I am dietarily restricted to being pescatarian when there isn't any availability of halal meat I imagine that I would feel differently about the food if I was able to eat the chicken, but alas I could not, so I had the catfish sandwich. I really liked the sauce that came with the burger (in fact the sauces here are amazing which I do indeed appreciate) but otherwise wasn't really floored. It's a decent enough burger but nothing I would get again or necessarily recommend. The fish fillet itself is very thin and it's not by any means breaded with the same as the chicken burgers. I imagine flavor wise it would've been a lot better if it had been the same batter as the chicken by the looks of it. The Mac and cheese was really bland and the portion was really minuscule for the ~3.49ish price. This establishment is a pick-up type of spot, no indoor dining unfortunately, but the orders are made so quickly! I found out about this place from my co-worker who claimed the crispy chicken sandwich was better than a few well-known chain restaurants. With a bold statement like that, I just HAD to test it out. So there was no surprise when Bobwhite was suggested during one of my weekends of celebration. A small alphabet city location with eight high tops for 2, window seating for 4 and counter seating for about 8. They fill up quickly, so there may be a wait but trust it's worth it and they move quickly without rushing anyone. As first timers the wonderful Alexis took us by the hand and walked us through the best way to order and get a little taste of everything they offer. Now, realistically we couldn't order everything our eyes devoured and still be able to button our pants and walk out but his suggestions were more then helpful and might I add spot on. We decided on the vegetarian plate which is made up of sides and the catfish plate w/ one side of Mac n cheese. Both come with the amazing biscuits and we order a piece of chicken à la carte all to share. It was the perfect suggestion and a way to sample most of their small but perfectly done menu. Everything was soo good and delicious no conversation required during consumption. You know when everyone gets quiet at the table, that's the unanimous signal that the Grub is GRRREAT! This chicken place is a little off the path. A good find, small place, about 6-7 tables and bar seating. The have 2 beers on tap and a few other drinks. They have chicken by the price and plates. I split a plate with a friend for around 13$. They give you a leg, thigh and wing, a buttery biscuit and a side. I'd recommend the Cole slaw and biscuits were really good. The wait staff was attentive and they even let us do separate checks at the end even though we never asked. The only negative was we were a 4 top, and we had a 5th show up and the staff told us we cannot Move a chair. So they had to stand or 30 minutes. The largest table is 4 top. The chicken is a little on the small side (could probably be eaten in 2-3 bites), but there's usually 6-7 in the plate so it makes it not feel like a rip-off. It tastes really great. It's the perfect mix between crunchy and chewy that makes it satisfying to eat. The Mac and cheese was definitely pan-baked, which will probably draw some contention from the burnt edge haters. (You know who you are.) I personally LOVE pan-baked Mac and cheese, it definitely tastes homemade. Same with the biscuit. Not golden brown, but it's very buttery and chewy and is a good way to balance out the crunchy chicken. Freshly squeezed lemonade was the cherry on top of my Southern fried meal. This is fried chicken vs grilled but the texture of fried, also fried chicken is the best. And it is SO SO GOOD. The chicken is perfect, so flavorful and crispy.
