    Catered food!
    Ciara L.

Used Bok a Bok for our 25 people bowling event at UW. This was such a great experience. We were able to order online. I called the store and they recommended what to get and how much to order. We had a constrained budget but actually went under budget and had plenty of leftovers. More people came to our event because we advertised there was Bok a Bok! I which they still had a location in the U District because it was a little tough to drive there and park- but it was definitely worth it. The wings were amazing and everyone raved about the kimchi Mac n cheese!

Original and SPICED HONEY & GARLIC - WET RUB
    Jojo L.

My first time trying and I got the Spiced Honey & Garlic 5pc and original 5pc. It was incredibly crunchy, which was great. However, I expected more flavor and for it to be more savory rather than sweet. It leaves an interesting after taste after, which I didn't like. The chicken were good after the first wing or so, but then the flavors just started not tasting the best. Although crunchy, there was just too much batter that I began peeling it off. The honey-garlic chicken I thought was going to be a wet sauce over it, instead was a sauce that got hardened/caramelized and was a bit too hard to chew. I did not eat in person, as this was a takeout delivery, so I can't really rate the inside of the space or the staff at the establishment. However, the food did come out fast.

    BISCUIT & SPICED HONEY

Really solid and unique chicken spot. The chicken is fried really well so the it's super crispy. The chicken is also really juicy. As for the dipping sauce, I highly recommend soy garlic. I tried the umami BBQ but it didn't taste like BBQ - more like a not spicy buffalo sauce. I also tried their tofu and it has the same crisp as the chicken. The biscuits with spiced honey was also pretty good - you could taste the anise (?) and cinnamon from the honey and the biscuit was a perfect vessel. Overall a pretty solid spot for chicken. Benefits is that there's a parking lot and it's relatively quick.

Bok a bok is a must visit Korean fried chicken joint. I overdid it and had to sample thighs two different ways and a half dozen wings with a bunch of different sauces. I ate everything and couldn't move for over an hour. the thighs were very good but the wings in my opinion were better. It seemed like the wings were brined and the thighs weren't. I could be wrong. The guy at the window was fun and helpful he even cheered me on about being my 500th diners drive inns and dives visit. He hooked me up with a couple extra sauces. The chicken was wonderful but the rice bowl was the surprise. It was amazeballs!!! So thick and filling with sticky rice and cheese sauce plus that loose runny fried egg on top. That's the sleeper hit, don't skip the dirty rice bowl. Loved this place even though it's a walk up window it's not lacking any ambiance. The funky mural on the wall keeps you entertained while waiting for your take out. Bravo Bok a Bok.

2 PC FRIED TOFU - TOSSED IN A RUB

Food - Full disclosure I know this is a chicken restaurant and I am a vegetarian - this review is with all that in mind and context. The fries were really good and so was the kimchi Mac n cheese. The tofu was ok. I liked the jalapeño cheddar wet rub, and my companions loved their chicken. They all agreed the chicken sandwich was the best option. You can order to your table next door at The Runaway. Service - They brought out all the food promptly and it was well-packaged. Love the agreement with the Runaway! Ambiance - We were at The Runaway, which is a punk bar and they brought it over so I can only attest to the awesomeness of trivia at the runaway while we get food brought over.

I want to give this place a 3.5 stars! Cool window order and pick-up only. Takes about 5-10 minutes depending on what you order. The order comes out piping hot with a good amount of juiciness and crisp of the fried chicken. All sandwiches come with fried chicken thigh. My partner had the fire sandwhich and I had the umami bbq. I thought it was on the sweeter side even with the bun. Both sandwiches had a spicy kick. The Umami has great Asian earthy flavors, you can definitely get a good taste of the basil. The buns are great, they hold everything well and they remind me of Hawaiian rolls but much more dense.

    KIMCHI MAC N' CHEESE
    Pratima M.

A hole-in-the-wall spot tucked into the heart of Cap Hill -- they have an ordering window and the food comes out for pickup fairly quickly. They tend to get busy pretty much ever night, but it's never a long wait! They have lots of daily deals including a BOGO mac n' cheese on Mondays and Taco Tuesdays, among others. I stopped by for a quick dinner and they have a surprising number of vegetarian options for a chicken spot -- feel free to take my review with a grain of salt, as I'm here mostly for the Fried Tofu and Kimchi Mac and Cheese. Fried Tofu: A yummy, filling, and flavorful snack -- the sauces were SO. GOOD. Kimchi Mac: Nothing too special, IMHO. The kimchi was good, but the mac and cheese itself wasn't too crazy. You could probably re-create this at home. I would totally come back again to snag a sandwich -- you can sub most chicken items for tofu and their sauces are delish!

    FRIES

I ordered for pick up, standing at the window. The cook sees me and ignores me to keep talking to the guy on the window. Guy at the window ignores me until the conversation is over. I got the dry franks red hot wings and they're extremely salty due to the powder. Each wing is caked in it and inedible, I don't think they tried them before they put them on the menu. The fries are unseasoned and there's nothing but small bits in the package. Not coming here again.

TL;DR: Bomb quick-fix no-fuss K-chicken; sides are good but focus on wings Can get really busy with no parking during prime meal hours (and late night) but otherwise super easy to find and place orders on their ipads or on the phone Love the Fish Sauce and Salt & Vinegar wings! These are our go-to wings and we usually supplement them with the OG (crispy) and ranch dipping sauce The crisp holds up surprisingly well both for pick-up and delivery and does not sog down too much in sauce for the wet wings. Although we're both Team Flats, we're also Team CheaperOption so we went with dealer's choice on the wings and were pleasantly provided a good mix of both Sides were good not great: Sticking to the fries and biscuits w/ honey (hit or miss on moistness) - The kimchi mac was too saucy and the macaroni itself was overcooked and mushy - On the other side was the Bowl of Shame rice bowl - weirdly dry and undercooked rice Bok a bok is always a go-to for lazy cooking days and party trays :) Cheers, Bok a Bok!

    Juju W.

Crunchy chix sandwich made by this hole in the wall establishment. It was ok, however, the fries were awesome - a light crunchy outside covered the soft potato inside. The rice bowl w kimchee and poached egg was not worth eating. Mostly white rice topped w an odd cheesy sauce and poached egg.

SESAME SOY GARLIC SANDWICH and The Firecracker Sandwich and chicken 1 PC OG THIGH
    Fumie W.

tried the Sesame Soy Garlic Sandwich and The Firecracker Sandwich and chicken 1 PC OG THIGH. the fried chicken sandwiches were good but the buns get pretty soggy with the amount of sauce they put so eat it right away. there is an order window and sandwiches takes about 10 mins. they're open on labor day and no line!

I consider myself a fried chicken connoisseur . I love well seasoned juicy chicken. I have debated folks about whose wings are better and all sorts of other fun conversations. So that is the context for my comments about Bok a Bok. I LUV BOk a Bok. Here are the things I love - 1. crunch- the batter makes the chicken super crunchy on the outside 2. Yet juicy- the crunchiness doesn't at all take away from the juiciness. Have you ever but I to a crunchy and dry piece of chicken . Yuck!! Not here 3. The sauces- one such variety. From sweet to spicy and everything in between- they've got you. 4. The Tots tho- tots!! Yes tater tots. Well seasoned with the option to add sauce. Mmmm mmmm good Not everyone in my house agrees but when the choice is mine- it's Bok a Bok everytime.

    Noah B.

Better then chick-fil-A *spicy chicken sandwich 4/5 *chicken strips 4/5 *fries 3/5 -Spicy Chicken sandwich is a real sandwich that will actually fill you up. Nice big juicy chunk of chicken with the right amount of breading and just super moist. The spices make it pretty hot but not crazy overpowering. That kind of chicken sandwich that has enough chicken that comes out of the bun and really feels like bang for your buck. -chicken strips are nice and crispy with enough breading to give you that real chicken strip crunch and nice seasoning to the batter. -fries were pretty average but I guess you don't come here for fries.

The clams and mussels with Lao sausage were hands down my favorite dish - so savory, unique, and packed with flavor. I know it would be something my mom would have loved to try! The collard greens with neck bone meat were another standout. Every bite was unforgettable. The wait here is no joke, so I highly recommend making a reservation. I think we waited an hour and half to get seats for two, but worth it! We were fortunate enough to be seated after closing, and despite the long wait, the staff remained incredibly kind, welcoming, and accommodating. Their hospitality made the experience even more special. So shoutout to the staff! The only dish that didn't wow me was the trout - it was a little mild and could've used a squeeze of lemon to brighten the flavors. But honestly, everything else was some of the best food I've had in a long time! And I am a real foodie. If you appreciate cultural fusion, Communion is an absolute must visit in Seattle!

There were people waiting outside when we got there and only a few tables were seated. They seemed to space out the seatings to give the kitchen time to prepare food for the tables. We had high hopes as we love Southern food. We ordered the Sweet Potatoes Hoe Cakes, Mac N' Cheese, Classic Greens, UNC's Wings, Pork Chops, and the Grilled Berbere Steak. The Hoe Cakes were the best 4/5 but tasted like buttery cornbread, good, but nothing special. The Mac N' Cheese was 3.5/5 and were tasty and very cheesy. The classic greens were tasty but came in a small ramekin 3/5. The UNC's wings were okay, tasty and crunchy, but we've had better wings at dozens of restaurants 3/5. The pork chops were decent but dry 2.5/5. The steak was a bit fatty, gristly and bland 2.5/5. A three rating being average. Service was attentive but nobody bothered asking how the food was or we would have openly told them. For the price, there are much better options elsewhere. Don't waste your time, money or stomach on Communion.

Unfortunately, tonight's experience was extremely disappointing, specifically because of the service we received from Darlene. We tried the shrimp yakisoba in addition to our wings and mozzarella sticks and unfortunately did not like the flavor of the yakisoba. The frustrating part is that Darlene only asked us one time if everything was okay--and she didn't even come to our table. She asked while checking the thermostat, and at that point we had only eaten our wings and some mozzarella sticks. We had not even tried the yakisoba yet. We waited approximately 15 minutes for her to come back and check on us, but she never did. I eventually went to the counter to get a box. Since she never came back to our table, we also went to the counter to pay, which is different from our previous visits where we were checked out at the table. We explained to Darlene that we didn't enjoy the yakisoba because of the flavor. Instead of simply acknowledging the feedback, she responded rudely that we needed to tell her when she checked on us so it could have been fixed. That was frustrating because she never checked on us after we actually tried the food. How were we supposed to tell her we didn't like something when we hadn't even tried it yet? Then, when I went to tap my phone to pay, Darlene said, "But you're not paying for it, so it doesn't matter." I told her she was being rude, and rather than de-escalating the situation, she began arguing with me and made it seem like we were somehow at fault for not saying anything during the first time she asked. We asked to speak with a manager, and Darlene told us that she was the manager. We weren't upset simply because we didn't like a dish. We understand that not every menu item is going to be everyone's taste. What we expected was basic customer service and an opportunity to actually communicate our concerns. Instead, we were blamed for not reporting an issue that we literally hadn't discovered yet, followed by a rude response when we attempted to explain it. The wings are still excellent, and we've had good experiences here before, which is why tonight was particularly disappointing. Unfortunately, Darlene's handling of the situation left a much worse impression than the food itself.

Closing at 12 AM on weekdays and 2 AM on weekends, it is a pretty reliable place to enjoy with alcohol and Korean bar food. They're known primarily for their chicken though - their wings and boneless chicken are primarily advertised on their menu. We ended up getting both of these to try, with their signature sauce. Both were pretty solid. The wings weren't the crispiest, but they were very meaty - each one was quite large. The sauce coated each one without dripping too much, and the signature sauce, which isn't quite yangmyeon and tastes a bit more like sweet and soy rather than sweet and spicy, is decent but unmemorable. The boneless chicken was similar. It was very meaty and saucy, but missing much of that crisp and powerful sauce flavor, opting instead for more of a milder approach. I did still like this though. More importantly, both these meals worked as shareables to be consumed over soju. They did an excellent job of functioning within their purpose. The price for the chicken is decent, but I will note the price for alcohol is pretty crazy. 18 dollars for a bottle of soju? Overall, even though its not the main purpose, you'll have a good time with the chicken here. 7.75/10

Some of the best wings in Seattle. I had a snack size (5pc) of the original (naked) wings. Juicy and perfectly fried. I think the best way to judge any wing is how good they are without any sauce. I'll try some more flavors later. Good banh mi. The bread was excellent. However, the "grilled pork" option was puzzling. Tasted good, but was more like a char siu than a traditional lemongrass grilled pork. There wasn't any char-grilled flavor. It was still good though. Nice crisp crust of the bread without being too sturdy, if you know what I mean. Lots of other stuff on the menu I want to try. I didn't go for any of their house-made drinks. But I'll at least try a lemonade next time. Very pleasant and ample seating. A few outdoor picnic style tables and some nice tables inside with big windows. It's a nice space. My only gripe is the usual one. Seattle prices. The wings plus banh mi and a soda came to $30.50 with tax and tip. (I did have leftovers for later, so I did get a meal and a half out of it). The tipping options START at 20% on their point-of-sale (POS) tablet. There's probably a custom option, but I didn't bother since I normally tip 20% anyway. But it's a little pushy to start your tipping options at what is usually the upper limit for most people. This place is solid. I'm sure it's a godsend for tenants in the nearby apartments. And being centrally located, it's really not hard to get to. Next time your going to or from the eastside via I-90 bridge...go a few extra blocks north and get your grub on here.
