Well after much anticipation and glowing reviews from other members of my family. I visited establishment for the first time this evening. We didn't get off to the best start when we asked for smoked cauliflower, and were promptly told that it's out of season. How do you think about this is I don't believe the cauliflower, broccoli, or green beans are in season right now? Are multiple servers behind the bar struggled with any type of answer, & blankly looked at us when we said "can't you go to the produce store next door?". if you don't have the ability to smoke the cauliflower in house then perhaps it should be removed from your menu. That's my guess. Maybe if your restaurant model is fresh products, perhaps that nicely done daily menu printed each morning with only the freshest ingredients would be the way to go. I'm sure this is a fine restaurant, and will be very successful, but I think there's a little bit of a growing curve we'll give it another six months and try it again. read more

Today was our first time trying Bolay in Winter park. There wasn't a crowd, just a few tables filled. The food was okay, my kale and quinoa was very sweet, a little too sweet for my liking. My boyfriend got the miso tofu, he liked it but toward the bottom of his bowl he found a little black hair in it so that was his stopping point. Not sure if I'd try this again, for our bowls we paid almost $25. The water was a little steep in price for a small bottle of water. I hope it's better if we try again another time! read more

Bolay doesn't even deserve 1 star, actually it doesn't deserve anything at all. In all truth the place is filthy there's flies everywhere near the food where they serve the bowl's. I seen an actual "roach" which is truly disgusting! I immediately walked out when I seen it. Also I'm not even sure they properly even clean in the back. I spotted a dirty oven that they use to cook our food which is gross. And the front is so rude to guest sometimes, whoever is in charge needs to make a change or has to go! I really love Bolay, it is a great place to get a quick, healthy meal. All of the combinations are delicious, I really love the quinoa base and the kale salad base. The veggies are all perfectly cooked and seasoned. My only gripe is that I eat mostly a fish based diet, and on my very first trip to Bolay (a week after they opened), I was told they didn't have Ahi Tuna yet, but it would be there soon. Well I have gone back at least 5 times and I ask about the Ahi Tuna, but no one seems to know if it'll ever end up on the menu. I always have to settle for shrimp or chicken (I have a soy allergy so I can't have tofu). I really really hope they add Ahi Tuna to the menu soon, it would absolutely change my review from 3 to 5 stars and I would eat there much more frequently. read more

I really enjoyed my meal at the Winter Park Bolay! My husband and my friend came here after their grand opening and the staff and operations were great. The food is fresh and made to order. This location doesn't have all the options such as the Morrocan basmati rice or the ahi tuna but the options are still plentiful. I had the Jasmine rice and it was not only flavorful but the texture was good. The veggie sides were also cooked and seasoned well. The service is extremely efficient and the serving sizes are generous-- today I got a large bowl knowing I'll have leftovers for lunch tomorrow. I honestly can't speak to the preparation of the meat but the kale and black rice bases are phenomenal without being overbearing, the veggies are perfectly seasoned (in love with the mushrooms) and if it was legal I'd marry the minted tomatoes. Bizarre first experience. Food was good but service was horrifying. Please train your staff that it's ok to throw away and make a new bowl if their hair falls in it while being created behind the counter. At the sauces dept I let the girl know I could see a long hair in my bowl. She saw it, pulled it through my food and said "sorry about that" and proceed to stare at me like I'm going to eat it still and to pick my sauce.
