I can't believe I have never had Bolay before. I have gone twice in the past two days when a friend suggested we go there. It is the perfect option when you want something that will be made quick and is full of protein. The first day I got the lemon chicken bol which I enjoyed. The next day, I made my own regular bol. I picked the pesto noodles, sweet potatoes, lemon chicken, pesto sauce and Parmesan cheese. It was so so good!!! I am amazed that all their options are gluten free as well which is perfect for someone with a gluten free allergy. The service was great and I got my bowl right away. If I feel like splurging, I get the au jus steak as my protein (for an upcharge), but I also really enjoy the lemon chicken. Got delivery and paid for an extra 4 sauces, did not get the sauces I paid for. Bolay is pricey enough and Postmates customer service is useless. I ordered 4 creamy garlic, 4 herb pesto and am missing 3 herb pestos. If you're a higher priced establishment, there should be a very easy and clear approach set up for checking items off to ensure the customer gets everything they are paying for. Bolay consistently offers flavorful, delicious food with very nice quantities for a good price. They have plenty of indoor seating. Staff are always friendly and are knowledgeable about the food and allergens. Most allergens are listed clearly on the menu but just ask if you have any questions. I'm vegan, so I usually get the tofu as a protein. I believe all their vegetables are vegan and to my knowledge they always have been but be sure to check the menu as things could potentially change seasonally. All bases are also vegan, and a few of the sauces are as well. I highly recommend the black rice, the miso tofu, the power beans, and the garlic sauce to name a few. I went with a regular which is the smaller option just because I had not had one before. But I sincerely regret the decision. I should've gotten a large. The ingredients are so fresh. The regular size includes 1 protein, 3 grains/grains/veggies, 1 extra, and sauce. So this made me sad today. I'm a fan of build-your-own bowl restaurants, and with the Orlando food scene a little lacking in this area, I'd been excited to try Bolay (after having learned about it in the local Yelp Talk forum). I finally made it out here, and figuring it would be easiest/best to order one of the pre-designed options on my first visit, I went with the mojo pork. Unfortunately, and very disappointingly, my "protein" was a large clump of pork skin and fat, with maybe an ounce of meat that I had to surgically extract from the mess. I give up pretty quickly, having lost my appetite. The rest of the bowl was fine, but given my letdown, I really couldn't enjoy any of it [sigh]. Maybe I was unlucky, and maybe I ordered poorly. Hooray for Bolay! It was my first visit to this location in Winter Park but second time at a Bolay. My family came for lunch one weekend when we were in the mood for something fast but healthy. Bolay fit the bill. I chose the small bowl, which I chose teriyaki chicken, jasmine rice, roasted potatoes, brussel sprouts, and cilantro sauce. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. My husband got the large bowl and shared some with our son. Our kid loved the teriyaki chicken and sweet potato noodles! The chicken was on the sweet side, but it's definitely a healthier option for a quick service meal. Ordered Uber eats family style meals. The meals came with four cookies. The cookies were soft, 4 with each tray, snickerdoodle and chocolate chip. The Asian tray was good. Lots of broccoli, sweet potato noodles and a TON of rice. Wished for more chicken and less rice. The sauce on it was tasty. The broccoli was not mushy. The Cuban tray was more parted out because the beans are juicy and the meat was separate from the roasted potatoes and rice. A lot of carbs. Came with mojo sauce which was more creamy than oily, and two sides of fresh chopped cilantro. Everything was very good. My coworkers were happy. Food was hot upon receipt and well packaged. Alright alright alright! I get why my coworkers crave this place so much. I'll admit it... I'm not really a vegetable person but someone offered to buy me lunch here, and I'm so impressed. I ordered the teriyaki chicken and wow... what an explosion in my mouth! It was so flavorful. From the cubed chicken breast tossed in teriyaki sauce, over a bead of jasmine/cilantro rice, and a big scoop of roasted broccoli -- it's so mouth watering! If you are looking for a healthy fresh build your own bowl this is the place to go. This location is located inside a shopping center. It's nice and bright and plenty of seating both inside and outside. You can create a bowl 2 different sizes and a kids size. My husband and I chose the regular size, 1 base, 2 veggies and a protein. We added avocado and tomatoes at an extra charge. My only complaint is the toppings are not a large variety. There are only 5 to chose from one of them being potatoes which is more carb base to me. I chose the broccoli and Brussels. They could have been crispier especially the broccoli. I chose the plain white rice and my husband the cilantro noodles. Both very tasty. I had teriyaki chicken and he had lemon chicken again both tasty. The dining room was clean apart from the flies but clean none the less. All in all this is a nice healthy alternative to fast food. Generally I don't review fast casual joints. I just kept getting asked if I liked Boolay. First of all, I had no idea what it was. Someone said it's like Fresh Kitchen. So I decided to stop in today and try it. Before you read too much into my 3-star rating, know that a 3-star rating for a fast casual joint is solid. It's pretty comparable to Fresh Kitchen (FK) but differentiates its offerings enough to not make it too similar. For instance, the smaller FK bowl includes 2 bases, 1 protein and 1 veggie and additional charges for add-ons. Bolay's smaller bowl comes with 1 base, 1 protein, 2 veggies and no upcharges on add-ons from what I can remember. I actually prefer Bolay's small bowl over FK's. Bolay's bases are really good - their forbidden black rice and cilantro noodles are amazing. I also really like their protein offerings but think I like FK's BBQ chicken better. I tried a hodge podge of things, but have since come to realize that my favorites are the spicy sweet potato noodles with beans and mushrooms and shrimp (up charge) - with a garlic ranch-style dressing. The base options are pretty healthy (I got the kale). Then you pick some veggies to go with it. I was a bit disappointed they didn't have roasted cauliflower, but the mushrooms and broccoli I got were really tasty! I got the Miso glazed Tofu as a protein. Overall I just didn't care for it all being mixed together in a bowl. The rice made the spinach soggy and the Brussels were a bit overdone. 5 Stars for a build-your-own-bowl concept that somehow stands out. Bolay is the latest fast casual concept to arrive in Orlando (from South Florida). I have tried all of them in town, since I'm always on the lookout for a quick, healthy option on the run, so I figured this would be similar. That, right there, is a tough barrier to overcome. When bowls have become the norm and build-your-own restaurants are no longer the exciting new thing, Bolay had to stand out to compete with the great local options (ex: Too Much Sauce). With that being said, having ordered takeout and then delivery, Bolay has exceeded my expectations! Ordering online for pick-up couldn't be simpler. And that's a big deal with these places, where calling in and hearing all the options can take ages. I was able to order for pickup at a specific time and even pay online before my friend picked it up. The next time I ordered on uber eats and it was also simple. The food itself is great quality and complimentary flavors. I've ordered the small bol (bowl) twice now and it's been a substantial amount. My friend ordered a large bowl and I think when they are to-go, they look similar in terms of amount of food. It looks like the bowl sizes vary more when you dine in. I've tried pretty much every option and combination (tasted off of my friends' bols) and can say that you can't go wrong. My favorite additions are the kale salad (has a sweetness that's surprising and well suited to any bol), and the cilantro noodles. The chicken and pork are fantastic too.
