The food was great but be careful when dining in here . The waiter increased the tip amount on the receipt . That's very shady of him . Definitely do no recommend dining in here . I did not come in expecting a free meal but after someone fraudulently increases the tip amount and charges me more then expected I would think they would have more to say other then "Sorry well refund your tip" are you kidding? First of all, I ordered boneless wings. A side is included with my order. They have 12 sides but you only get to choose from pickled radish or coleslaw. Yuk! They won't let you substitute any other side (even a smaller serving). I won't ever eat one of those so I didn't have any choice but to skip the side. The boneless wings are more like processed and formed chicken nuggets. They are round, mostly, and are NOT real pieces of chicken. Now to the sauce... I asked for the spicy sauce. Most of my nuggets didn't have any sauce on them! Look, if you're gonna put sauce on chicken, at least make it look like your menu photo which shows the entire piece of chicken covered with sauce. I accidentally found this place and came back today because the food is delicious. However, I don't know if I would come back. The food is great but the service was the worse I've ever experienced. I'm not one to complain but it was ridiculous. When we were seated, we had o wait for what seemed like for3ver for our waitress to greet us and take our drink order. We waited so long, we had already decided on food and ordered everything at once. The food was good but spicy, so we needed drink refills, but the waitress never came to check on us. Keep in mind, there was only 3 other groups in the entire restaurant. I won't say the waitress was rude, but she certainly wasn't polite or friendly to us but politely served another group that came in well after us. After she finally decided to check, we finally got refills and finished our meal. We then had to wait an extremely long time for her to bring the check. I paid and left disappointed. Really wanted to like it. Order takeout. Website is well designed and easy to place your takeout order. Spent well over $100 because we were excited to try many of the dishes. Order double meat for their bulgogi only to receive double order of onions. The meat was swimming around in a pool of not well flavor bulgogi sauce. OTC bulgogi marinade would have been more authentic. The chicken rice cakes were good with a good amount of spice but lacked the rice cakes which are relatively an cheap Ingredient. Ordered half half chicken as well as the boneless. The half half of original and spicy chicken was ok but not what I expect from Korean fried chicken. We really like the chicken from Bonchon. We usually order the soy garlic fried chicken. I have always thought the chicken was crispy and juicy, and the flavor of the sauce was outstanding. You can taste the sweetness, saltiness and a hint of garlicky flavor. We also get the chicken katsu. I would say the katsu is a little bland for my liking. BUT it comes with a katsu sauce and with that, it is delicious! I haven't tried the other dishes they offer, so I can't review those. The ones I've tried though, I've enjoyed them all. Well being the 3 hot sauce guy I want 2 more sauces which the nice waiter told me it will be $.95 each. Really is this McDonalds. I am purchasing a 14.00 meal and you are changing me $.95 for ketchup. I have been eating Bip n Bop for over 30 years and have never been charged for the sauce. I am sorry to the owner, but if you are going to charge me extra because I like my meal a special way then there is no reason to come back. Also $1.95 for a can of pop. WOW! we just stumbled across Bonchon. Obviously carry out only during these times but don't pass this place up. Seems they've only been open for a few months. They have some of the best fried chicken we ever had. I ordered the chicken strips which were REAL Cuts of chicken that seemed to be pounded flat, then breaded in an awesome light crispy batter. The chicken was soo moist. You have three flavor options - Spicy, Soy Garlic, or half/half. I ordered the spicy and it was a very tasty sweet/hot that def stays on the Tongue. My wife ordered "Drumsticks" with the Soy/Garlic which were very tasty and not over powering. The fries are also covered in the same light breading so they are crispy. Cole slaw was solid, as was the steamed rice. Not a huge fan of the pickled radish. In summary, some of the best, moist, flavorful fried chicken we've ever had. When I googled the place, it said dine-in was available, but when I got there was a sign on the door that said no dine-in, and I'm fine with it. I came here to try their bibimbap, my favorite Korean food. The I saw the sign on the entrance that said "listed best chicken wings in the U.S." Quick google search told me Bonchon was recognized by Business Insider in 2019 as "the gold standard for fried chicken." So I had to try their wings, and the host suggested I should try the lunch special of 8 wings with fries. I am now a believer of those accolades. They have other entrees in their menu too, and am looking forward to the time when they allow dine-ins so I can enjoy a wide variety of Korean dishes. read more

Okay I know Bonchon is a chain but the food is just so ridiculously good, it felt right to review it! We've ordered from here countless times via GrubHub and they get our order right every time. Their fried chicken is unreal good - I get either drums or strips and they're perfect every time. How do they make them both saucy and crunchy?! It defies physics. Their potstickers are amazing, their coleslaw is great. My husband is obsessed with their chicken katsu and their shrimp shumai. The only thing I've tried that I didn't love was the pork buns BUT that's only because the spicy Mayo is insanely spicy (for my poor gentle palette, at least). I'd definitely get them again without the Mayo to enjoy the crazy soft texture of the bun. If you're looking for something delicious that's a step up from Panda and a step over from the typical carry out pizza chains, try Bonchon, you won't be disappointed! read more

I agree with other reviews that the way you're welcomed to this place is somewhat odd. Still, we gave it a chance. First time I ever had a cold bibimbap on a cold stone bowl. It baffled me. Except for that, kids enjoyed the their food. Service is okay and can be improved. Food took longer than usual and was served 40 minutes after. Hopefully, it's just the adjustment everyone is doing because of the pandemic. Reason why 3 stars instead of 1. Not sure we'll ever go back again. I make a vote to replace KFC to forever be known as only Korean fried chicken from now on because the fried chicken here is insane! I love the spicy flavor here most, although the sweet soy sauce and garlic flavor is really good too. Unfortunately those are the only fried chicken flavors they have but what they lack in variety, they make up well in execution. You can choose your flavors to be half/half, all spicy, or all soy garlic flavored and we chose half/half. What makes this fried chicken so unique and delicious is the skin. It's almost been fried and glazed to the point of candifying the skin, which makes the chicken incredibly moist and the skin retain its crispness for ages even after you've received your order (though I reckon they might suffer if exposed to steam so watch out if you're doing take out). You have a choice of choosing between cole slaw or pickled radish cubes and I would go with the radish, they cut through the fattiness and sweetness of the chicken with a very refreshing crunch! We also ordered the korean tacos with bulgogi which we highly enjoyed, each order comes with three. My hubs who is Korean said these gave him instant nostalgia of a Korean burger he used to love as a kid and had never been able to taste again after moving to the states! They're served with a soft flour tortilla, coleslaw, and your choice of chicken or bulgogi. One note though, we were looking at the available sides and saw that the kimchi being offered is $3.25 for the serving which is mind blowingly expensive for kimchi, that amount of money is nearly enough to get you an entire 24 ounce jar! It's usually offered as a free side with nearly unlimited refills at almost every Korean restaurant so seeing it offered for so much was incredibly jarring lol read more

Food is pretty good. I like how crunchy the wings are, but once you get into the meat side not so flavorful. The coat comes right off without the meat or skin. Once the coat comes right off you will see the pale chicken skin...not so appetizing looking. Unlike most wings I've eaten when you split them or bite into it it gives you all the yummy flavors and the coats is totally attached to the chicken skin. Didn't really like the spicy wings. Our tongue was burning even our scalp itches, that's how spicy it is. I think it needs more flavor. it just tastes like spicy wings with no flavor, i still like the crunch. I was in the area doing some shopping with thw wife and she suggested we eat out. I had spotted a sign that said Korean Fried Chicken. Never had it before. Sounded good. Walk in and it is a clean, not greasy smelling, inviting space. Hostess was friendly. Waiter was friendly enough but disconnected from the start. He asked we wanted something to drink. Wife said yes, strawberry lemonade? Waiter said yes we have that. He brought her a can of minute maid regular lemonade. No biggy, we decline and opt for water. We order a small wing/drum combo with Korean BBQ and a half and half sauce which I believe was soy and ginger or something.. Wife got the Japchae and we added the seafood fried rice. We talked and compared meals and give 5 stars on taste and flavor across the board. I had the coleslaw w the chicken and we both thought it was the best coleslaw we have had. It is a creamy, crunchy on the sweet side kind of slaw. I'd come back just for the slaw. Of course, they give very little. The chicken was moist, not greasy, and crispy. Not a southern fried chicken crispy. This is like a deep fried or pressure fried coating, like a thick crispy coat of chicken armor. Sauces were tasty but I suggest having them on the side as dipping instead of coating the wing. The sauces didnt inspire me to continue to want the next one. The drums are good size, almost full size. Good value w the slaw. The Japchae we felt needed more beef. It seemed like it had one or 2 pieces of visible meat and a shred hidden here and there. Not a big fan of glass noodles but overall a tasty dish and a fair portion. Our fried rice was not fully cooked. Not certain if that is by design or simply not cooked long enough. Still edible and flavorful. Here too we felt it lacked seafood substance. Overall we recommend as a try. Not my first pick next time, but in a pinch, I'd eat here again. And the robot that brings the food to the table was pretty cool. Made for a more efficient dining experience. Probably should have tipped it, instead. read more

This was one of my favorite places back in Boston. Always amazing. It was one of the few places I missed when I moved to Illinois. Now I see they are popping up all around Illinois. Was so excited to pick up my favorite soy garlic chicken today and the Kimchi bacon fried rice. Chicken is still outstanding and taste just like I remember. The Kimchi fried rice was very tasty but slightly different than the BonChon back home. I am used to rice being a bit spicy and the bacon cooked more ( bacon was fairly undercooked) Back home they used to put an egg on top but no egg this time So I give the chicken 5 stars and the rice 3.
