I've lived in Metairie since this place opened and I've never been because I'm never really a big fan of chain restaurants. Bonefish grill has validated my reasons why I avoid chains. The name in itself implies that fish is their main entree option, however, it's FROZEN fish!!!! Bother the sea bass as well as the cobia, which was not completely cooked! Ever worse the asparagus are out of a can and then recooked! The mashed potatoes are 100% from a box whipped with butter and salt. The house salad is the only reason they get one star. Also on a side note a secondary waiter who helped our main waiter almost hit me in the face with the plate as he was carelessly watching. I love this restaurant so much I have to make myself stay away. I think Bonefish has just gotten better and better over the years. I love the seasonal items on the menu because it gives the restaurant some variety that it might otherwise lack being a chain. My favorite item while not a seasonal one is the bang bang shrimp. Another side of Bonefish that you might know about is there willingness to donate to non-profit organizations. I am a part of a non-profit and usually contact Bonefish once a year for a donation. Not once have they turned me down. I thank them for this, and it makes me want to spread the word about how awesome this restaurant is. I went early afternoon .There were maybe three tables with customers.I saw 3 waitresses.One brought our cokes and we never saw them again for a half hour.We got our meal about another half hour later.When we asked for a to go box a different waiter brought it and was walking off so I asked for the check.He brought it to us 10 min later .We paid left the money in the check receipt book and left after he never came back to get it.The table next to us had left before we got our food and their cash, I guess a tip, was still on their table when we left.it looked to be about $15 .I guess they don't care.we could have easily just took it if we were dishonest read more

Man. I should've looked this place up on Yelp when K suggested that we go here. But we were so hungry and tired after having a couple of failures at finding a place to eat (it was Cinco de Mayo and all the Mexican places were ridiculously crowded--bad idea, I know--so we were driving around and finally just stopped here). Good thing was that there was no wait for a table. Bad thing was that the service was terrible. A drink that was ordered with the appetizer did not come until after our main dishes came out. Yeah, they comped it, but seriously?! Maybe my service sensitivity level was up because I was dining with two people in the service industry, but they took forever with everything. I don't know if they were understaffed or what, but there were lots of people dining at this restaurant and not a lot of staff tending to the customers. I am very excited to finally have a Bonefish Grill here in Metairie! I have enjoyed the brand in other large cities and always wondered when it would finally make its way down here... Anyway, the experience we had this evening was excellent. The food, service, drinks, atmosphere - all perfect. We started at the bar where I realized that they have one of my favorite beers, Southern Pecan, on tap... and on happy hour special for $3... I had as many as I could get down in the 15 minutes we waited for our table. As we were being seated, I noticed that the restaurant was packed and got that uneasy feeling that service was going to be slow....... shortly after taking our seats, the waiter shows up and after a brief introduction to the restaurant and the specials, we go ahead and order the Bang Bang shrimp as an appetizer. The serving of 15-20 shrimp or so was perfect for our table of 4, and the creamy buffalo-esque hot sauce provided for a delicious topping on these lightly fried critters. Everyone enjoyed their serving. So, the restaurant remains busy, but our waiter seems entirely unfazed. He makes frequent stops at the table (whilst avoiding undue conversation), fills drinks regularly, and provides a very good knowledge of the menu, complete with fitting and thought out suggestions on food selection and pairings... I was impressed. I ordered the Longfin Talapia Imperial, which is a pan-seared fillet, baked and stuffed with shrimp, scallops, crab meat and lemon caper butter. I had mine accompanied with the potatoes Au gratin side... all of which I enjoyed. The fish was cooked well, the toppings and stuffings were well seasoned, especially the scallops, and the potato's were awesome! For dessert, we all shared the creme brulee and the special, which was a peanut butter and jelly bread pudding. Both were delicious. While we were munching on dessert, our waiter brought over to-go containers for our dinner. He had already provided noteworthy good service, but I was pleasantly surprised and amused to see that the boxes were pre-labeled as to which food items he was anticipating placing into each. Bravo. Now, when I am searching the refrigerator later in the week for lunch, I will not have to open a bunch of boxes to find my leftover bang bang shrimp. This unexpected consideration of my time later in the week really did it for me. Either this guy is one of the world's finest waiters, or BFG trains VERY well... maybe both??? I dunno... Lastly, Ill mention now that I was so impressed with the service and food that I was kind of looking for something to go wrong... its just how I am. Nothing can be this perfect, right? And I thought I had him when he returned to the table with our after dinner cappuccinos to telling us that the restaurant was out of creme (which is what we requested that they substitute for milk)... got ya! Not really though, because he took the liberty of substituting a mixture of heavy cream from the kitchen and milk making the cap better than it probably would have been as we originally ordered it... so there, a perfect 5 star from me, and a HIGH expectation on my next visit! I love this spot for brunch. I've never eaten here for any other meal, although I've eaten at other locations and it's good but not great. Their brunch deal is one of the best I've found in the metro area: $20 gets you any brunch entree (normally around $10-$13) AND unlimited mimosas, bellinis, and blackberry sangria. They even let you switch up the drinks, which are all tasty, although I'm partial to the bellinis. The food is good as well. I've ordered the bang-bang shrimp Benedict as well as the surf and turf Benedict. Both were delicious, I recommend you ask for a side of their spicy hollandaise. I don't even really like hollandaise but that stuff is really good. The bang-bang shrimp Benedict is their signature appetizer spicy shrimp with perfectly poached eggs on top of English muffins. The surf and turf Benedict had nice, tender pieces of filet with nice sized pieces of lobster-absolutely delicious! Their potatoes au gratin is also delicious and cheesy as well, although they could stand to cook the potatoes longer. Service is consistently on point. Bonefish Grill was exactly what I was looking for after a long day at work. I just wanted something refreshing and simple. I happened to go in on a Tuesday, where they have a special - 3 courses for $14.90, which includes a salad, entree and dessert. Entrees come with 3 different tiers - a couple options which are part of the $14.90 meal, a couple for a couple dollars more and a couple for a few more dollars. Regardless of the choice it's a great deal! I went with House Salad, Salmon with mango salsa, butternut squash and potatoes au gratin, and Key Lime Pie. It was more food than I needed for one meal, and it was satisfying nonetheless. I had considered picking up a take out order, but I'm glad that I sat down to enjoy my meal. read more

Upon a spur of the moment decision my friend and I decided to give bonefish a try. I'm not usually one to try a chain restaurant when I'm so close to the many fabulous original restaurants in New Orleans but I was intrigued by what I had heard by word of mouth. I arrived around 7pm on a Friday night and requested the patio since it was a mild night. We were seated immediately. Our server Nicole promptly took our drink order. We ordered tea and were pleasantly surprised when she brought out lemon and honey with our tea. (Usually all we get is sugar when ordering hot tea) Onto the appetizers we went. We asked Nicole for recommendations and we got the edamame with green tea salt and also the ahi tuna stack. I highly recommend both. The green tea salt was a pleasant change to traditional edamame. The ahi tuna was such a great combination of flavors. When we got around to ordering entrees we asked about the fish quality ( I don't care for farm raised fish, personal preference is all) and was told all of the fish served at Bonefish is wild caught. My date ordered the Arctic Char with dynamite topping. I order the filet with truffle butter and sweet potato mash. Omg everything was beautifully presented and tasted just as awesome! We finished up with a wonderful creme brûlée again suggested by Nicole ( she's pretty awesome at her job don't you think). By the time we were done with dinner we were floored at how excellent our experience was. So much for thinking chain restaurants weren't worth the time. I really wanted to like this place so much more! Unfortunately this review is only two stars based off of food. Service was fine, not exceptional, and not horrible, just...expected, I guess. Our conversation in the car on the way home indicated we probably won't be back. Nothing blew us away enough to give them another try. For the first course we ordered their signature Bang Bang Shrimp, Edamame and Crab Cakes. Everything so far was great! Nice, big lumps of crab meat on the cakes, a suiting remoulade to accompany that, a healthy serving of Bang Bang Shrimp cooked perfectly atop a bed of crisp iceburg lettuce and a full bowl of Edamame with Green Tea salt for tasting. Things took a turn with the entrees. The children's food came out first and the fried chicken fingers were raw. Rather than taking a chance with undercooked chicken again, fish fingers were ordered. I had ordered the shrimp benedict that promised hollandaise and shrimp. Everything was wrong with my order but I was hungry and didn't want to be "that girl", so I just ate it anyways. My poached eggs were over medium, I was served a total of six shrimp (bit on the small side), my english muffins were not toasted and there was no hollandaise to be seen. There was the bang bang shrimp "sauce" but not exactly what I was expecting. My asparagus was overcooked, limp and slightly mushy. My boyfriend had ordered the surf and turf benedict and he too, was less than wowed. The menu also boasted a 19.99 brunch and endless mimosa special but when the bill came, I was charged 12.99 for the endless mimosas and individually charged for my food. So when friends asked us if we wanted to meet them there for a mid-week meal, my wife and I agreed. We didn't realize that there is a special menu for Tuesday night, a choice of 9 different 3-course meals between $16 & $22. We ordered a bottle of wine and an appetizer of Bang Bang Shrimp while looking over the menu. By the time we had finished the first glass of wine, we had decided on our salads and both of us picked the lobster tails with a choice of 2 sides. My wife upcharged on the sides to steamed asparagus to go with the Garlic Whipped Potatoes. I settled for the more mundane fires and cole slaw. For dessert we ordered the macadamia nut brownie with ice cream and Jen's Jamaican Coconut Pie and shared. The coconut pie was better in my opinion. The food was good. The service was great. We tried Bonefish for the first time a couple of weeks ago with friends and it was a major disappointment. The first thing that should've tipped me off was that it was dead on a Thursday night from 7 til almost 10, meanwhile the Don's across Vets had a full parking lot. To start, we had bang bang shrimp, a Caesar and edamame. The bang bang and Caesar were both very good. The edamame was served with a strange salt on the side. It was meh. The real problems arose with the entrees. I ordered the large salmon with lemon butter, green beans and sautéed spinach. I was surprised by the salmon portion to start with. It seemed on the small side and when ordering a large, I expected something close to an 8oz portion like most other restaurants.l and this seemed more like a 6oz. Not only was it a small portion, but it was also a square, thin cut which was pretty unappealing. When I order salmon out, I expect a long, rectangular filet with some thickness to it. It also looked like it had been steamed. I expected it to be broiled, pan seared, anything with some color to it. The entire piece lacked texture and also lacked seasoning. I chose the lemon butter sauce and was thrown off by the color and consistency of a butter sauce. It looked more like a bernaise but didn't have that flavor. The sides were no better. The green beans were under seasoned and pretty significantly undercooked (and I love crispy green beans!) The spinach was the worst of all and was inedible. When I think of sautéed spinach, I think of garlic/ onions/ butter - anything to give some flavor to a bland green. There was none of that. It tasted like they had been sautéed with no salt or seasoning of any kind. It was also served in a bowl and had so much liquid, the way you'd imagine collards to be served. It was like it was sitting in plain water. Everyone at the table had leftovers from their entrees and no one took anything home. The service was fine, the ambience is completely bland and it was a really disappointing meal overall. There's so many better places to have fish in New Orleans. read more

I went here with a friend who was really impressed with his experience so I gave it a try. The interior has an upscale and comfortable vibe but the tables are a bit close together. There was outdoor seating available which I am a fan of but it was really hot when I visited. I ordered the American Kobe beef burger, which comes with cheese and a fried egg on top. For my side I choose au gratin potatoes. I also had a blackberry sangria. They brought some bread with pesto dipping oil to the table while our order was being made, which was pretty good. When the food arrived my burger looked like it was going to be delicious because the brioche bun was beautiful and the presentation was excellent. From what I could see of the egg is also looked great and I was looking forward to cutting it in half and enjoying the slightly runny yolk because 1) that would be really delicious and 2) it seemed like that would be the point of a fried egg on a burger. As it turned out, the egg was overcooked and the yolk was completely cooked through. I have always know fried eggs to have a firm white and a soft slightly runny yolk. The beef was a dark grey color with some pink interior and tasted very plain, not very inspiring for 'Kobe' beef. I don't think the meat had been seasoned at all, it was dry and there was no juiciness to be found. The tomato on top was not even a full slice and it was clearly haphazardly thrown on there with everything else. The au gratin potatoes were very inconsistent, about 1/3 soft, cheesy, and delicious and the other 2/3 crunchy and undercooked. The sangria had a good flavor and was perfect for sipping. My friend felt bad that I was disappointed with the food because he had recommended we go there and had vouched for the place. I don't know if what happened to me is a common thing or not but I might give them another try I just would not order a burger here again or order the au gratin potatoes. read more

This is my new favorite semi-expensive place. Great for date nights, birthdays, any type of celebration! Our server was very informative. She suggested an amazing appetizer, the bang bang shrimp, which was delicious!!!! She also suggested their seasonal martini (only available during Christmas, the winter white martini) and that was amazing too!! The atmosphere was so nice, dimly lit for intimate conversations. But able to accommodate bigger parties as well. Everything was so good here. So good we went back the following week with a bigger group (about 9 people) and all tried something different and shared! Prices are a little bit on the expensive side but well worth it. The food is fresh, the staff is ultra friendly and very informative! Food comes very fast also! My favorite part of the whole experience was how educated the staff is about each dish. One question about any dish, and they have a lot, but they know how it's prepared, what wines compliment the dish, why the sauces add to the flavor experience of the dish. It's very impressive to have a server know all these details. I'm sold on becoming a regular here! If you haven't tried it, it's something to look into! Like many others, we do not patronize many chain restaurants, but Bonefish is a notable exception. While we have never had a truly exceptional meal at any of the Bonefish locations where we have dined, we have always had reliably good food with a few modifications for my wife's IBS-D, presented well. The Metairie location was not unlike our other previous Bonefish experiences. I went here for Mother's day. We had a reservation at 5pm and was seated 10 minutes after. Our waiter was MIA for a good 40 minutes. The manager and the host stepped in and got us our drinks and order taken. Despite the rough start, they were able to win us over with their service and food. The spice was just right even for my grandparents. The best would be the pecan Parmesan crusted rainbow trout. Very nice balance of acidity between the lemon butter and cheese. For a chain restaurant, it's anything but ordinary. I was first turned on to Bonefish Grill because of a Yelp event one day; I had passed it before, but never thought to stop because it was a chain so I figured it would be just average food... Boy was I wrong. After the Yelp event, my dad was still raving over the fact he got to sample all these dishes and talk to the manager about their inspiration, so we decided to have our family Christmas dinner there. We made reservations for a Tuesday night and were fortuitous enough to discover it was their special 3 course for like $15, $18, or $21 night! It comes with choice of salad, entree, and 2 dessert options. However, I was craving some bang bang shrimp after the Yelp event so I got the bang bang shrimp tacos while everyone else ordered something off the prix fixe menu. Our waitress Brooke was by far the best waitress we have ever had at any restaurant location I have ever been to, ever (including the John trio at Commanders Palace). She was super friendly and polite, knowledgeable about the menu, and totally didn't judge is when we ordered like 3 bang bang shrimp appetizers when we found out there was a discount to add them on to the prix fixe menu. She was also well-versed in all the food and was able to make some great meal suggestions, and even told us all about the awesome $5 cocktails that night. The blueberry lemonade martini thing was super sweet and awesome and definitely tasted like an adult version of a childhood dream. It does lean on the very sweet side, which I love, but if you prefer a lesser sweet version, their winter cranberry martini is also fantastic with just the hint of sour cranberries! Besides the fabulous bang bang shrimp (which are also $5 an order on Wednesdays!!!! Ahhhh!!!!!), we ordered the mussels Josephine, and extra bread. Totally forgot to mention the free, warm, soft ciabatta bread and homemade pesto olive oil they bring every table... And will keep bringing if you ask them! (which we totally did to soak up the wonderful sauce from the mussels josephine). The mussels were tender, easy to pull out of the shell, and the white butter cream-esque sauce had chunks of tomato, onions, and strips of basil... It was quite decadent! The bang bang shrimp tacos were wonderful, and not just because they had the the decadent crispy plump shrimp tossed in the spicy sweet bang bang sauce, but because the large tortillas were warm and really held up all the shrimp and lettuce, and they were packed full of shrimp. The tortillas really seemed like a mix of corn and flour and were quite sturdy, which I think is the staple of a perfect taco. Add on the fact that they were grilled and you've got a winning combo. My dad got the lobster prix fixe, which I was surprised was only 18, and my mom got the grilled scallops and shrimp, my sister and hubby both got the wood-grilled salmon (which would have been my second choice). Thankfully I'm married and a perk of marriage is being obligated to share your food, so I got bites of my hubby's salmon and garlic mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach (absolutely another food I love) and all three were absolutely fantastic. Despite all of the above, we somehow managed to save an inch or two for dessert (it was Christmas dinner, afterall) and we got to order the ABSOLUTELY HEAVENLY chocolate creme brulee. Now, I had tried this at the Yelp event too, and fell in love with it then, but this was 10000x better. The yelp event gave us a tiny shot glass of the dark chocolate creme custard without the brulee, and it was absolutely decadent by itself... But add that flamed sugar crust and you're on a whole different level. Like... Cloud 9 different level. It was the most amazing dessert I have ever eaten in my life (including Sucre) and my mouth is seriously watering just thinking about it now. My family and I had dinner at The Bonefish Grill in Metairie, LA last evening and the experience was excellent!! Dillon provided top notch service and attended to our every need. It was my first dining experience there and I will definitely make a visit each time I am in town visiting family. The portions were of good size, and the food was delicious. We had the Bang Bang Shrimp as an appetizer--a must have. I ordered the corn chowder with crab-totally tasteful! As our entrees we ordered a BFG burger, fish tacos and shrimp tacos. Oh, may I add the margaritas are to die for and the ambience gives it a great atmosphere for a pleasant dining experience. Great choice for an overall dining experience! First time trying this place and the food was good. I had the Pork Chop with Procuitto & Fontina and I enjoyed it. I also had the pumpkin lava cake which I think is named wrong. Lava cake typically means when to cut into in, something from the middle flows out. This was not the case. It's basically a mini bundt cake with cream cheese in the center hole. Although the cake had a good flavor and tasted good, it was over baked, dry and just fell apart in crumbles when I tried to cut through it. I will definitely try this place again. read more

My experience here was so lovely. I went as a last minute Valentine's Day dinner with my boyfriend. Around 8:45 we walked in and got seated immediately! That was such a pleasant surprise. Also to our luck it was Wednesday, which is half of appetizers (bang bang shrimp, hello!) I had to stop myself from ordering two. Their cocktails are priced normally but I went with the cheapest one, blackberry sangria. It tasted like fruit punch that makes you woozy lol. For dinner I ordered the tilapia imperial, which is fish stuffed with crab, scallops, shrimp, and multiple cheeses. Heaven. Soft, cheesy potatoes au gratin. Tender asparagus. I was completely stuffed. We also ordered the lava cake. Our bill was just $100, which honestly seemed like a steal. Service was on point (Isaiah). My mother-in-law invited me out to dinner, and she wanted to pick a place where she knew I could enjoy the food. Bonfish Grill did not disappoint. The atmosphere is nice, though nothing to write much about. I appreciated having the tables spaced far enough that you can have good conversation. Service was great; our waitress was attentive and very friendly. Happy Hour was still going on, and you're allowed a shorter version of that menu when you sit outside of the bar area - but at least that's something. We each ordered a glass of wine, and then started in with the Bang Bang Shrimp. My MIL doesn't usually eat shrimp, but she ate these! They're great! Super flavorful, and very filling. Much larger portion size than I would've thought. We each ordered a fish dish with different sides for our entree so that we could share everything. My dish was the Cod Imperial and while I thought it was delicious, not sure that I would order it again - a bit too rich in the cheese department for me. My MIL ordered the Crab Crusted Cod and that was not only delicious, but definitely something I would order again. Delicate in flavor and well balanced. The sides were pretty good; spinach was very flavorful and not overcooked, mac & cheese neither of us really loved, mashed potatoes though were our favorite. CW talked me into going here for the 'bang bang' shrimp. I don't understand how this is a Korean-inspired dish, since I have never once had any iota of a semblance of this type food in Korea. Ever. Anyway. Our server was great, and the blue Caribbean drink was phenomenal. LOVE IT. The bang bang shrimp left much to be desired, however. It was salty and basically tasted like Mayo+sauce. Or maybe my taste buds are too simple for this - either or, I wouldn't return unless it was for lunch, when there are different offerings. Arrived early for my reservation. Was promptly seated. After 10 minutes or more and not being acknowledged by any server I left. As my party was walking out the guy who seated us actually said, I hope you enjoyed your food and have a nice evening. Should have seen the look on his face when I told him we were never waited on. Meh. I remember when this place was first open, I was really excited. My favorite go to items were the fried calamari, bang bang shrimp, and the Josephine mussels. I went here for Christmas eve dinner and the food was a little disappointing. The Josephine mussels were just a overpowering sweet, watery mess. I remember I used to love to dip the sauce with the complimentary bread. This time, I had to squeeze lemon and add my own pepper and salt to adjust the lack of flavor. It seemed like the sauce was missing ingredients or seasonings. The ceviche we ordered tasted a little fishy. The flavor of the ceviche lacked that citrusy seasoned flavor that I am used to. I had to add more squirts of lemon and salt to it. The chips were good though. Don't waste your money on this on. The boyfriend ordered the Chicken Cobb salad. We have dined at Bonefish grill often since it opened. Quality of the food and the service has been going down. We received a 20% off email so we decided to try it again. We were very disappointed. We wanted the salmon special and the bang bang shrimp tacos. The shrimp were bland and after sending the salmon back twice because they would not "cook it all the way through", we decided to not let them try again. The manager made excuses, but that didn't cook the salmon. To top it off, as a Dine Rewards member, I was not given credit for the shrimp tacos. Didn't want to give them 1 star.
