Before taking my order, Val welcomed me in then did an excellent job of introducing me to the Bopomofo menu/drink assortment and spoke proudly of the fresh ingredients used and hand crafted practice. They use only lactose free whole milk! When she served me through the p/u window, she made sure to encourage me to mix the drinks up a bit before tasting and reiterated that Bopomofo wants each customer to be happy, so they have a 100% guarantee. I appreciated that, but a quick couple of stirs and sips later and I was sending her an enthusiastic 2 thumbs up through the window. The added boba was fresh and chewy and perfect! The black sesame cookies & cream is HEAVEN! Such a treat! The brown sugar pudding milk tea was a perfect after lunch refresher! This is an order and go cafe, located on the 3rd floor of Ovation, facing the main courtyard. No tables inside and you are directed to wait for your order outside by the p/u window. It is clean and simple inside, with some small plushies & toys lining the front counter for a hint of whimsy. I will certainly return for the Black Sesame Cookies & Cream the next time I'm visiting Ovation Hollywood. Cheers! "CC"

Was happy to see this open! Been on my bucket list forever! I live pretty far and was nearby for work I got the whipped honey latte as is Egg salad bun Total was 20 after tip Staff was approachable Inside was super clean! Coffee was super sweet I recommend getting half sweet for the whipped honey latte Egg salad bun was super disappointing I feel like the bun is too dense and dry combined with minimal amount of egg salad made the experience meh. definitely not worth the price point!

We tried around 4 drinks including strawberry Boba, matcha Boba , coffee and milkshake on a hot afternoon. It was definitely worth it. Taste was accurate for our preference with not too much sweet and ice. Boba felt fresh . Would definitely recommend this place to my family and friends.

Bopomofo Cafe is a popular boba shop that was originally founded by Philip Wong from Wong Fu Productions in January 2019. They have now expanded and opened this Hollywood location on Level 3 of Ovation Hollywood. [Parking]: They offer parking validation for purchases of $15 or more if you park at the designated Ovation Parking Garage (Hollywood & Highland). Interestingly enough, I was able to obtain parking validation despite ordering less than $15 which I actually appreciated. Parking with validation is $3 for 2 hours. The cafe closes at 9 PM Monday through Saturday and 8 PM on Sunday, so come before closing time if you are interested in getting validation here. [Ordering]: This spot is more of a grab-and-go location and has no indoor seating. Limited outdoor tables are available in Ovation Hollywood. [Menu]: For drinks, the top two highlighted items are Strawberry Corn Milk and Bala (Guava) Matcha. Unlike other locations, this location serves only limited food items such as the Egg Salad "Bolo" Bun. *** Jasmine Green Tea (Light, floral green tea blend - $6.35): A good drink, but nothing to write home about if I compare it to other tea shops in the San Gabriel Valley (SGV) area. *** Happy to see an above-average tea shop in Hollywood, but please do visit other Bopomofo Cafe locations for the full experience as I think the food at Bopomofo Cafe is better than the drinks they serve.

Overall: 3 stars Very excited to see the expansion of Bopomofo, especially adding some prominent Asian prescrne on Hollywood Blvd. The drinks are as high class as the original, with a bright and inviting menu. The food was a bit of a disappointment, as the menu lacked the draw of the OG and didn't taste good either. (Lychee Pear Blossom: B) - Bright and inviting drink that features a lychee forward palette with floral notes in the background. (Egg Salad Bolo Bun: F) - Unfortunately, I don't think this combo works. The bolo bun was not warm and lacked that beautiful bolo crust on most of the surface area. The flavors of the egg salad and bolo bun also seemed to not pair synergeyically. Food: E Presentation: E Price: E Atmosphere: E Service: +1 Menu: E Insta/Yelp/Beli/TikTok: @amei_eats

Dirty Matcha...can decide between a matcha and a coffee...just get both.

You order on the inside and wait for your drink at a window on the outside. The vibe I got was that the cashier and server just knows their drinks, like they knew what was good and the confidence that Bopo has quality stuff. So I was pretty excited to try. I got the dirty matcha...and it was good. It's not overly sweet and you can taste both the matchs and the coffee in the drink. My family ordered other drinks too and they liked it. It's just a solid choice for the genre of consumption in that area--Ovation Hollywood is bumpin' most of the time.

Love this place the cashier/server was very friendly and helpful ( forgot to ask his name) . The service was fast and I tried his recommended drink " Matcha with guava" was so good and refreshing! The place was clean and cute!

I've always wanted to try this spot and thankfully I noticed it while I was here for a work conference at the hotel. The space was clean and bright but super small. The staff is friendly and quick. I ordered their blueberry matcha for an afternoon pick me up and i would give it a 4/5! Pretty tasty, refreshing and I would order it again.

Overheard while sipping my drink: "Boh poh moh foh. Mofo?!". There's no mofo here I assure you. It's "buh puh muh fuh," the Mandarin phonetic system mainly used in Taiwan to teach children Chinese characters. I kept that to myself though and resumed sipping my Black Sesame Matcha Latte (upgraded to L because it's never enough). The drink was smooth and full-bodied with the rich, nutty taste of black sesame paste. I was craving their famous grandma's braised pork belly rice bowl but there's no kitchen at this Bopomofo Cafe location. I guess we're not in San Gabriel anymore, Dorothy. Indeed we are at Ovation on Hollywood & Highland, worlds away from the gushing milk tea rivers and burgeoning boba trees of the valley. That you can find some legit craft boba drinks here now? Progress. Come see what it tastes like.

Lychee pear fruit tea with boba

You know as an Asian kid of immigrant parents who always had the dream of seeing someone of your race on the big screen or at least in media? I was one of them. Growing up, I was also a frequent watcher of Wong Fu Productions. Hearing Phil opening his roots for every one to enjoy in his hometown made me sad because I never make it down there... until now! Except I didn't plan it well because I should've went to the OG instead I went to West Hollywood because there was a Dave & Buster's (hahaha). SERVICE: The worker there I guess was being kind with his honesty and transparency but he kept um stating every drink was too sweet or was not good. QR code outside to be scanned for the menu. So I ended up with the PEAR AND LYCHEE FRUIT TEA per his recommendations. I personally don't like lychee in drinks so I might be biased (I like the fresh fruit but I can't stand the canned, concentrate, etc version). The boba was not good at all. It was soft, mushy and some bits still had hard inner bits. I asked for less ice and half the cup was ice. I requested 25% sweetness and the cup tasted full of sugar. AMBIENCE: hahahaha there were folks prepped and ready to order until they met the service staff in which they left without ordering and with disgusted looks on their faces. Brightly lit. Modern decor. Nobody stayed which made me not want to stay so I can't say much. Located in West Hollywood / Ovation Hollywood building. Getting from point A to point B was slightly confusing with the numerous escalators and very slow elevators. Don't know if bopomofo validates parking because I utilized 4 hours of parking for $3 thanks to D&B (must spend minimum $15). Would I come back? Definitely not to this location but certainly their OG as it seems the delicious food is there too.

    Jinxuan Guave Oolong Tea
    Shirley W.

626 represent!! I've visited their OG San Gabriel and their Cerritos location, so it's pretty cool to see how they opened one up in Hollywood Ovation. I'm glad that they also VALIDATE here! They validate on orders $15+, which is like two large drinks. The shop is pretty small, it's basically just the concept of grab & go since there's not much dedicated seating around. It was pretty empty when I first ordered, which we got the Jinxuan Guave Oolong Tea, part of their Summer Menu. Luckily it didn't take too long, so service was pretty good here. Taste test, the tea overall is pretty nice! I thought it would be more of a 'cleansing' type of tea, but definitely something more fruity. Although, the guava flavor isn't' that strong, but it just kind of tasted like a sweet drink. Happy to see that there's solid boba in the Hollywood area.

    Egg salad pineapple bun

This was nasty. I heard about bopomofo because I loved wongfu but I'm glad I'd didn't drive to the valley for this. It's cold pineapple bun that's rock solid. The egg salad might be good but I can't tell with the ketchup. Super sad this sucks because I wanted to love it.

    Bopomofo Cafe in Hollywood
    Juliana T.

Passing through town, stopped to check out Bopomofo after hearing so much about it on IG. This location in Hollywood is meant to just be a pick up spot. They only had egg salad sandwich, beef noodle soup and a chicken salad. I hoped for more options. Guess I'll have to check out the other locations for the fuller range of food choices. I originally wanted to get dinner here but ended up with just a drink. I got a Strawberry Basil Ginger Lemonade. It was too late for caffeine. I really enjoyed it! I like that they can adjust the sweetness. I asked for 0% sugar. They mentioned any sweetness is natural sweet. For me, someone who doesn't like sweet drinks, the drink was still quite sweet. I can't even imagine what it would be like at full power. It was refreshing, though. Can't wait to try other offerings at some other locations.

In addition to their expertly-crafted pastries, Sweet Lily offers a great variety of French dishes and packaged food items. My group ordered the Sugar Beignet, Raspberry Croissant, and Coffee Croissant - which were all wonderful. The Raspberry Croissant had a not-too-sour fresh jelly filling and was definitely the crowd favorite, but the thick, latte-flavored filling in the Coffee Croissant made it a close second place. The fresh-squeezed orange juice at $5 felt like an absolute bargain, and the Cappuccino was also well-executed. The real stars of the show were the entrees, though. Both the Avocado Toast plate and Croque Monsieur truly tasted like a trip to France. They were hearty and full of flavor, without feeling too heavy. The Sweet Lily twist on Avocado Toast includes melted mozzarella and slices grapes, which really elevated the dish! The potatoes and salads that came as complimentary sides were a welcome surprise, and just as craveable as the entrees themselves. I truly don't think there's a bad thing to order here, and I look forward to returning to this bright and welcoming spot to try more!

Been wanting to try this place for a while and my son said he did as well, so we made a lunch date…read moreout of it today. It's kind of off the beaten path, where Ventura becomes Cahuenga. Near Barham and on the way to Hollywood. They have a few metered parking spots out front, but I went in and asked if they had their own parking and Mehdi told me they had a couple of spots in the alley behind the building, so that's where we parked. It's a cute place, not too fancy. They refer to it as a Boutique Pastry Shop. There are some snacks/knick knacks available for purchase, along with a refrigerator of drinks towards the back. The left side of the space is the coffee bar and the right side has the pastry cases and food menus. This is where we placed our order with Mehdi, who was pleasant, nice and knowledgeable about the menu and all the pastry items. I was talking to another employee, Gabriel, and asking him questions about the omelettes. He talked me through a few different options and he was also pleasant and kind. I decided on the Veggie Omelette (add mozzarella +$2, and side baguette +$1) with a Decaf Latte (+$0.75 for Oat Milk). My son ordered the Chicken Caprese Panini, which came with Pesto and Mozzarella Cheese. ($17). We also wanted to sample some pastries and we got 1 Nutella Beignet ($5.50), 1 Caribbean & 1 Red Carpet ($8 each), 1 Pear/Almond Tart and 1 Raspberry Tart ($6.50 each). Our total for everything including tip was $91.59, and I'm still kind of in shock over it! This place was SO EXPENSIVE!! Mehdi plated our pastries for us and Gabriel immediately got to work on the omelette and panini. We sat down at one of their many tables and got situated while we waited for the food. It was pretty empty as we were there around 3pm, an hour before they closed. There were two other tables being occupied while we were there. They had nice pop music playing, ranging from 90s-00s songs and artists. There were some nice twinkly lights above us along with the regular lighting of the restaurant. The space was also very clean, but I noticed some wear and tear on the tables/chairs. Once Mehdi brought our food out, we got to eating. My omelette also came with a small side salad with balsamic vinaigrette and some potatoes. I think everything tasted good, especially the omelette, but the potatoes were a bit too greasy for my taste. I also think the portion size was too small for the price. This statement goes for everything we ordered. It was all extremely overpriced for the portions they're offering. My son said his panini was just mediocre and bland. He opened it and added a bunch of salt to it. It was also very skimpy on the chicken, about 4-5 tiny slices inside. Moving onto the pastries, the Pear/Almond was my favorite. It wasn't overly sweet (actually, none of the pastries were), which is what I prefer. It was very delicate and tasty. I also had a bite of the Caribbean which was delicious. They went well with my latte, which tasted very good. I will be trying the rest later. My son had a bite of everything and liked the Caribbean and the Nutella Beignet, saying the rest were just average. I didn't use the restroom but my son did and said it was spotless clean, stocked with toilet paper, paper towels, soap, and room spray. The trash was empty, floors and counters were clean. They have one men's and one women's restroom and it's spacious. They began closing down the place about 5 minutes after we finished our bites and nibbling. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience by any means, but I don't think I'll be rushing here anytime soon to try it again. It was just outrageously expensive for what it was. I understand the cost of ingredients, labor, etc it takes to produce pastries and viennoiserie, but I just don't think the quality matched the prices. Just my opinion. I would say the service was great, both Gabriel and Mehdi are great employees! I may or may not come back. We'll see.

The latte was perfect and not that horrific sweetness that tends to be the hallmark of most places these days and the lemonade was fresh and perfect for a lightly sunny drive over to the West Side. I knew I had to have the English muffin from the moment I saw it. We requested it simply toasted with butter and jam and shared each half. I wish I had a dog to sit and enjoy my time there as they offered free drip coffee refills. Maybe that's where I'll be later this week as I'm definitely coming back, and soon!

The cortado was solid, though not one of the stronger ones I've had. Presentation and latte art were decent, but there were some visible micro bubbles and the surface had a noticeable two-tone appearance rather than a fully integrated, glossy texture. The drink was also served hotter than a cortado should be, which made it difficult to pick up the coffee's character at first. As it cooled, some pleasant citrus notes started to come through and the drink became more enjoyable. Overall, a solid coffee shop with great atmosphere. I enjoyed the experience, but I think better milk integration and a more appropriate serving temperature would have elevated the cortado quite a bit.

It's really no frills and you're one with nature sitting on a picnic table enjoying your coffee and cookie, or pie, lunch, etc. Great service, good food and beverages! I didn't indulge in anything too heavy, because we were meeting up for lunch, but to get a bite in post hiking was worth it. I would do it again!

A little respite after a Ferndell Trails hike is such a nice thing to look forward to. The staff here is always SO nice! I've been a couple times now and they handle long lines with friendliness, patience and grace! I have been so impressed with how nice the staff always is here. I've had iced teas and cold brews here that were excellent. Foodwise, I love that they have a wrapped hot dog called Snake Dog! So random but that was my oldest sister called me growing up lolz and I had to get it! It's a great lunch time option. It comes with some fruit, too! My favorite breakfast option is the Egg in a Basket. It's SO delish with the pesto and protein packed which is great for ending a walk through the Griffith Park trails. I like sitting at their outdoor picnic tables for a bit and taking in the nature after getting my drink and eats. It's fun camping type vibes here and just so relaxing. Love The Trails!

You literally face the remains of a departed motel (complete with abandoned rusted car with a construction cone on top, like a birthday candle) and it literally looks like something out of a post-nuclear war, apocalyptic Mad Max film. You have to see it to believe it. I wish I had taken a photo. But don't let the insane view stop you from coming here. The drinks were delicious and the food is absolutely top tier. Our avocado toast took some time to prepare but it was worth it. It looked like a work of art, with smashed avocado, herbs, feta cheese, micro greens, radish shavings, and other goodies on top. It was very good. The other food we observed here also looked insanely good. They have beautiful bagel sandwiches with the reddest tomatoes I have ever seen, beautiful breakfast burritos, and other gorgeous open-faced sandwiches. Frankly, I would come here for the food alone. There was plenty of street parking on a Sunday morning. This is Sunset Boulevard, and I am sure it gets busier on weekdays, but you should be able to grab parking somewhere. Don't miss the Mad Max graveyard across the street.

It was not on their menu on display, but they had it. I finally decided to try their chocolate croissant as well since I missed out the first visit I had. Service here was friendly as well. Both of my items were really good. I believe there is only one size for drinks, and this works for me. Croissant was really good though; I have a lame theory that when they have chocolate drizzle/or some other unnecessary topping such as powdered sugar on top, they're compensating for something and here, this was not the case. It had plenty of chocolate inside, and it was delicious. The sole thing that will make the cocoa taste even better is cold weather, which we don't really get so I'll settle for cooler weather. Both Javista's have provided great service in addition to food and beverages; it's a no-brainer I'll be back at some point...
