Amazing authentic Italian pizza, personally my favorite in New York City! This is a different kind of pizza compared to a regular Neapolitan and I haven't found any other place in the city that is able to make it the same way. The crust is light and crunchy, making it so incredibly good! Five star all the way, from the dough to the quality of the ingredients. I also love they carry a rare beer imported from Italy which I also have never seen anywhere else. The place is super cute, with dimmed lights, beautiful decor and very cozy. Summary: food good, last experience with host enough to send me elsewhere in the neighborhood. Family and I have eaten here once and ordered out several times and have enjoyed the food so I was feeling pretty good as we strolled over on a Thursday evening around 7:15. It looked busy but with only one group ahead of us we decided to wait to speak to the host. After a bit of a wait, he indicated that it'd be about 5 minutes. So we stuck around, but 15 minutes later I asked him what it was looking like. At that point he said he was sorry but we had to wait for one of the parties to leave and he didn't know how long it would be. I was...disappointed, particularly because there WAS an open table for four that had been split up to seat a couple who had arrived after us. When I pointed that out he said that they had a reservation. I mean, I guess maybe but none of his actions prior to that added up. He claimed he only said he'd reevaluate again in 5 minutes...but I was the one who had to check back in with him. Anyway, food good. Host is either not on his game or discriminatory or something in between. Either way I don't think we will be back. read more

You want the real deal small restaurant with really good food and really good service? This is your place. How can you not love this place? You sense the love in the food and what these guys are trying to do. This place is tiny and cramped. The neighborhood is loud in the summer. We wondered into this place on a Saturday afternoon and got to experience the best Pizza I have ever had in NYC, and that is saying a lot since there are so many amazing pizza joins in town. We split a white pie with roasted potatoes, rosemary, artichoke, mozzarella and Parm. The crust was perfectly crispy and the favors were so incredible together. Service was good as well and the waiter was very warm and welcoming. I can't recommend this place enough if you are in the UWS area you NEED to try this pizza! read more

I have ordered from here a few times based on a tip in the West Side Rag. It is expensive to order but in general things were good. Tonight I received an order that with delivery fee and tip was about $70. Upon arrival was a pizza with a large piece missing. It was cold and looked as if someone took it off of someone's table and put it in a box instead of making one. I do not think the delivery person was at fault here although I cannot be sure. The box was seemingly untampered with, and was taped as it normally would have been. You can imagine seeing what looked like a partially eaten pizza that I did not want to touch anything else in the order. Thankfully after talking with the site through which I ordered they refunded me the full amount. I will never order from here again. Just as well. $70... read more

What a joy it is to eat at tiny neighborhood place Bosino on upper Upper West Side. Salvo and David make everyone feel at home. And now with outdoor seating it's easy to eat in. Food is sublime. Arugula with artichoke salad was perfect. Pizza is light, thin and tasty. Tiramisu and Machiatto to finish it off. And look at their coffee artistry. Can't wait to go back and try the pasta. Came here primarily to try several pizza options and wines. The Tartufata was good, and the Elisa was even better than I expected. Reminded me of pizza combinations I would have when I was back in Italy. The wines I had were also good (the Grillo from Sicily, the Prosecco and Pinot Grigio). The service was attentive, and the server did his best to accommodate the outdoor conditions, which were colder than expected. We chatted in Italian about the conditions and he turned up the heat to get it warmer. A few things that need to be worked on: -The heat lamps were very helpful, but every time a car passed by, a gust of wind came into the outdoor area, and it meant my food getting cold faster. As much as I like the design of the seating area I was in, it could use some work in blocking out that annoying issue and letting in so much cold air too. I understand there needs to be ventilation and there should be, but I have seen other outdoor set-ups where you aren't as exposed to the elements. I also hate feeling like passers by are right on top of you, gawking at you while you eat, which is why I would not recommend any of the seating on the sidewalk, and apparently, everyone else felt the same, as no one took those tables. -My meal at the end was interrupted by one of the workers smoking a cigarette nearby and blowing all of his smoke in the direction of the outdoor dining area, so instead of picking up the scents from my wine and food, I got to inhale his cigarette smoke. He apologized, but should've known better. Despite these issues, I enjoyed the meal overall, and will probably return, particularly when it is warmer. It was colder than expected today, and on cold days, there is no way I would eat outside here being so exposed. They may want to think about that going forward, as just about everyone that ate here wanted to eat outside for adequate ventilation. read more

Pizza and Pasta Gem in UWS Bosino is a quaint restaurant just steps away from the 103rd St subway station and a short ride from Columbia University. The food and service are excellent. The pizzas remind me of my trip to Naples -- tasty with wonderful combinations you cannot find in other Manhattan restaurants. The gnocchi were little pillows of heaven and the tortellini were light and seasoned perfectly. My family could not stop raving about how good it was. We had the best dinner here (3 adults and 2 kids) on an early Saturday evening. Salvo, our waiter, topped off our wine, gave us an extra meatball so everyone would have one, and was so absolutely charming and lovely overall. We got the meatballs (ok), eggplant parm (great), gnocchi (solid), margherita pizza (solid), veggie pizza (great), bosino with pesto/pistacchios (outstanding). I'm lactose intolerant and am picky about when I will torture my body with dairy; however, I will take all the lactaid pills to have the bosino pizza again. A great new date night spot for UWS! This restaurant has awesome, very fresh, authentic Italian food. Not fussy, not complicated - just accessible, warm, and classic dishes served by a friendly staff in a cozy location. There's something for everyone, and it's just...easy. The gnocchi is to die for, the eggplant parm has some of the best red sauce I've ever had, the pizzas are so nice and the wine list is really lovely. The decor is hand-painted by a local artist, and the family feel at this place is not to be missed. Had high hopes as I live in the neighborhood and often had pizza from their predecessor Buchetta. Ordered takeout with my boyfriend and noticed they increased the prices of the pies and everything else on the menu which I didn't mind, but upon eating at home felt that the quality of pizza decreased quite drastically. The tartufata was dry, crust kind of cardboard texture and the mushrooms were scant and floppy on a sparse amount of cheese. My boyfriend also felt disappointed by the quality of pizza especially with the price. Every component let me down unfortunately, and was a far cry from the old pizza served. Decor and service was beautiful but I really felt like they chose style over substance. :/ read more
