I like spicy food and this had me gasping for air. Not my palate. Squash casserole was over-cooked and mushy/greasy with some sort of cheese/butter combination that screamed for the "circular file". Now on to the sauces. 4 choices, which you must choose blindfolded. Because there are no samples like most any BBQ joint that proudly splays their sauces out for admiration. That should have been my sign to run! The server has to explain the flavor profile and you must ask for samples if you're unsure. Spotted the food truck on a nice walk to Forsyth park. The man ( I looked him up and I believe his name is frank!) in the food truck did the most kindest thing for me and my friend. He offered us a sample, but little did we know he hooked us up with a whole plate of food to have and try. WAS THE BEST BBQ I have had in a very long time. The man that served us was so kind and friendly that showed us some true southern hospitality. I will not only be coming back because of the tasty food but for the great service that will forever have an impression on me. I'm usually not one to complain about service as being a former server myself I know sometimes you can struggle but the server we had Venus was TERRIBLE!! :( When we were seated by the host she walked past our table and sighed in annoyance and then waited about 10 minutes before coming by to ask if we'd been helped. When we replied "No" she then took our drink orders but she had a very bad attitude. We only saw her 2x. When we ordered and when we got our food. Both my husband and I started our meal with nothing to drink and ended it that was as well. She never came by to check on us or refill our drinks. We finally had to flag her down after waiting 10-15 minutes after finishing our meal to ask for check and something to drink. From what I saw she was only waiting on 2 other tables so I'm not sure what the lack of attention and attitude was about. We will definitely still come back for the amazing food but will make sure to not sit in her section again! read more

The fries are good here... and that's about it. We ordered two appetizers the fried pickles and the fried green tomatoes. The fried pickles had almost no pickle in them and all bread. And the fried green tomatoes were the exact opposite but they were decent. We waited 45 min to get the drinks we ordered. And over an hour for the food and it was us and 2 other tables... my wife ordered the classic and I ordered the hash brown. When it finally came out my wife ended up getting a hamburger which is not the pork sandwich she ordered. And my sandwich was a fat filled brisket with very little meat... way to expensive for food that is absolutely terrible... but it's a hipster paradise if you like that sort of thing... read more

An altogether disappointing experience. 4 different BBQ sauces and not a single one with any real flavor. The house BBQ sauce is nothing more than tomato sauce and vinegar. (?!) That's not a BBQ sauce, that's just plan lazy and unimaginative. Haven't your cooks ever heard of a thing called "Spices"? The shredded pork was flavorless and dry as a bone, no meat juices whatsoever. I'm surprised it didn't just finish crumbling into dust right there on the plate. The ribs were all tiny pieces of cartilage and no bones. What's up with that? The 3 on my plate and the 6 on my father's plate were all the same; very little meat and they were burned black. It's like they served us the scrap pieces. The biscuits were rock hard, like they gave us what had been sitting out since the day before. Nobody in our group finished what was on their plates. Who serves food like that and thinks it's OK? What an expensive waste. It kind of sucks when the barbecue in Georgia doesn't even come close to being as good as the barbecue in California. I mean, that's really sad. So, don't waste your time. Go to the Golden Arches, the McRib sandwich is far better than this place can make. I expect my one-star review will be relegated with the other 4 one-star reviews in the "unrecommended" section that doesn't affect the restaurant's rating. read more

Not, what I expected from the past. Ordered take out and upon pick up the sandwiches were small ( we ordered large, I would hate to see the reg. portion), the buns were soggy and so were the fries. The bbq was very unflavored as well. Our food had just come out of the kitchen upon arrival and we live less than 10 minutes from the restaurant, so I really don't understand why the fries and buns were soggy. The meals were approximately $13.00 ea., but were the quality of maybe a $5-$6 meal. Ok...Bowtie food is really good. The BBQ Poutine fries are amazing!!! The smoke wings are good too...today though the wings were a lot smaller than normal. They were still good. My friend had pulled pork. She had to send back because it wasn't hot enough but the server brought out a hot fresh order that she liked. I've been to Bowtie before and always had a great experience however.....my friend was turned off that the owner didn't come by our table to ask was everything ok like he did for the other customers. I told her that maybe he was busy. She had to remind me that our table and the elderly white couple behind us were the only TWO tables Bowtie had at that time. No one else was in the restaurant. So as African Americans you can imagine our concern, but again I've been here before. I'm quite sure that's not the case with Bowtie but the owner should pay attention to all customers. read more

This is my new favorite restaurant/happy hour spot when visiting Savannah. Nice, comfortable open air seating at the bar. Extensive draft beer and bourbon selection with unbeatable prices during happy hour. Servers and management know what they are doing and care about the service. But the main reason this is a can't miss stop is the food. You can tell that they pride themselves on everything they serve. I've been here about three times, hoping each would be better than the last. That being said, I do want a small business to do well with its mission, and bow tie has a good mission. I had the bag of hammers the first time- bonus points for gluten free bread! However, the collards were very bland. The second time, I wanted wings- they ran out. I settled for fried green tomatoes. Good tomatoes but they came with a gelatinous sauce that did not accompany well. The third time, I tried the tomatoes, but this time asked for Chipotle aioli. Much better. However, it was a pretty little plate drizzle- not enough for dipping. Also, there was about three times as much breading as tomatoes- and they weren't green! Obviously a variety with a green outside, but part of fried green tomatoes is truly unripe tomatoes. Rarely will I complain about ripe tomatoes- but I like to expect the crunch of fried green tomatoes. Great beer selection, regardless. read more
