It looks like Bread and Barley changed up and slightly improved. Still hit or miss with Top notch craft beer choices. They carry a lot of the mainstream craft stuff that in my opinion is crap. Once in a while a good ipa pops on the menu for a day or so. Food is good with Brussel sprouts done right! Flash fried and slightly salty.. yumm Burgers are good too, as is the mac and cheese. The beer list is impossible to read, they need to change that to bigger fonts on the TV with better background colors, right now it's useless and makes you squint. read more

Great selection of beer, however the food department is lacking. Nonetheless the service is needs improvement. Came with a party of 20+ which took up about the entire restaurant and our server was too lazy to walk around the dining area to give us the check and rudely tapped my boyfriends shoulder to hand it to him. The food we got was really good. We got the English Pub burger and pork belly sandwich. The beer was also good. The staff was friendly as well. We really liked the environment. Only 2 things we didn't like is that we weren't told if you change the side, it's an extra price. It was on menu, but didn't notice until after the fact, and when ordering we weren't told this. From the moment we walked in this place was great. It's a small pub but with a nice crowd. We came here to watch the women's World Cup and left completely satisfied. Not welcomed at all and kinda bummed about it! The waitress took an order right behind us and came back 3 minutes and told us "kitchen is closed". Really upsetting because no one welcomed us let alone told use when we walked in at 10:40 that the kitchen was closed and waited three minutes to tell us to say kitchen is closed. Didn't even introduce herself or was sympathetic. I also called at 10:46 to ask when the kitchen was closed and the individual said the kitchen was closed and I asked again but what time does it close and she said 10:45. Why do you have to be so lazy to not want to take our order? Why do you got to be rude in person and over the phone? I can't even leave a review on food or beer... sucks! Simple and Sweet This place is definitely the place to visit in downtown Covina. They got some killer beers ,killer food and overall a great place to hang. I went with friends to celebrate and walking in, you feel like you've stepped into a beer hall. The best decor was the giant American flag. Nothing like MURICA while double fisting beer with friends. The highlight of the night for me was the portabello mushrooms. Maybe i'm a sucker for mushroom fries but !*$# these were freaking good. The garlic aioli just adds more fat to a subtly fat dish and fat+fat is always a recipe for success. The pork belly poutine was tasty too but i wish there was more pork belly. The belly on top was fall apart tender and well seasoned. I'm not even sure why the waitress brought a knife when we could tear it apart with a fork. The entree i ordered was the blta sandwich and i thought it was alright. The tomato jam in it was a bit too tart and the toast was too charred for my taste. Next time I'll order something else. Lastly i tried my friend's beer which was some strawberry one. That might have been the best beer I've ever had. It tastes like a good belgian ale mixed with strawberry syrup. It may not be for everyone but i certainly enjoyed the $^#@ out of it. The service good and the wait staff are all friendly. The price can vary depending how much you drink and eat but i think it's fair for the quantity. I'll be back to try their other goodies and for them portabello fries again! read more

(3.5 stars) Came by on Halloween with an old co-worker. I loved their selection of craft beers. I'm still a newbie when it comes to craft, but fortunately one of the servers helped us out a bit. He matched our preference in beer, so it worked out. We also ordered a side of fries to share. Really good! Their fries are very reminiscent of In-N-Out fries, which turns out to be quite delicious with a beer. Despite their friendly service, one of their servers kept checking up on us. I had the grilled cheese with fries and an amber ale, and he had the bacon burger with sweet potato tots and a dark chocolate stout. The grilled cheese had a lot of other flavors, and I kind of wished I could taste the cheese more. The berry wheat toast was good though, and fries were nicely seasoned. Bf's burger was juicy, and the blue cheese added a nice element without overpowering the rest of the flavors. His beer was surprisingly good, and not bitter like other dark beers can be. Service was friendly and efficient. I could see myself coming back with a group of people if we were looking for a casual bar to hang out in. We walked into the door and were greeted with a warm welcome. The bartender came to our table immediately and offered suggestions on draught beers. We ordered Avery Maharaja. We were given ample time to look the menu over and choose. We got the house made chips with balsamic and Gorgonzola cheese, the tempura portobello mushrooms, and fish tacos. The appetizers were brought quickly, followed by the tacos. We loved both the tacos and chips. The mushrooms were a bit strange. The consistency and sauce didn't seem to go well. I've never had fried mushrooms but I was not a fan. Other than that the service is on point. The decor is simple and lovely and smells of fresh cut wood when you walk in. We went for Tuesday happy hour - however, though their website says happy hour lasts until 6:30, when we got there at 6 they told us it had just ended.
