We have been coming here since we have lived in Eastlake. It's been 2 1/2 years. Miguel was the best server I've ever had. He was great with accuracy, his personality, prompt. The busser was fantastic too. Prebussed our table and gave coffee refills. Food is always good, kitchen never disappoints. Very impressed. Biscuit was dry and crumbled when touched, gravy has zero flavor and you never get enough to enjoy the meal. You have to pay for extra to cover the other half of the biscuit. I took my daughter here for a brunch outing. It was a busy holiday weekend but the wait honestly wasn't too bad. Only 20 min. I gave them my phone number and we walked the plaza while we waited. As soon as I got the text our table was ready they seated us right away. They did have to move us to accommodate a larger party but it was fine since we hadn't ordered yet and the manager on duty said she would take care of our drinks. The table they sat us at hadn't been wiped down yet it was still sticky and had crumbs but wasn't too bad. The server we had was super quick, and made sure we understood the menu. My daughter ordered the acai bowl and the smoked salmon avocado toast, and i ordered the Border Benedict. She loved the acai bowl, the toast was a little soggy but the salmon was on point. The Benedict i ordered was mid at best. The carne asada had no flavor, the poblano sauce didn't taste like anything and the poached eggs were well done. I has to add salt and a bunch of hot sauce to taste anything. I got hash browns on the side that we probably the best part of the meal. I also ordered a bottle of the champagne which is an amazing deal $21 and a side of OJ. My mom lives here in Eastlake which is why we chose this place, but I think I may take more time looking thought the menu the next time I come and most likely will ask for recommendations because the plate I chose was a 4/10 at best. Upon checking out and paying I noticed they had not taken the drinks off the bill and they had overcharged for the bottle of champagne, the manager stepped in and noted they had charged me incorrectly. I would say the 2 stars is a little bit gracious of a review, but I will give them props for getting the basics down. Great location since there are not a lot of brunch spots in Eastlake, and they share a huge parking lot with other businesses in that strip mall. They're also easy to find, the menu is simple to understand, and you can be on the waitlist through Yelp. However, the food was pretty underwhelming. My mom and I both ordered the Mom's omelet with mushrooms, spinach, cheese, salsa, and other things EXCEPT for seasoning. It was the most bland omelet I have ever had. The portions are overwhelming, but there's absolutely no flavor in that plate. The hashbrowns were dry and again, no seasoning let alone a grain of salt. I had a muffin with my omelet which was the only item I finished on that plate. We also ordered chocolate chip pancakes, and that was actually delicious. Again, the short stack is a huge portion. I also had a cafe latte with oatmilk. I love that they have oatmilk as a non-dairy alternative. The latte was good, but it was so small for $5- not worth it! Now for the service...sadly, we received poor service. We still tipped with the minimum 15% but honestly, I'm someone who can overlook mediocre food for memorable service. The service was even worse than the food. Our waitress was timely when it came to getting our order. However, she gave my mom a nasty cup for her tea. The cup had lipstick stains on it...Also, she never offered us waters. I literally had to ask for water after we had finished our meal. She accidentally charged us for 3 meals. And she never checked on us when we got our food. It was the most underwhelming experience ever and not at all worth the price. read more

We have friends that live in the area and they prefer this location over the other one in Chula Vista saying the service is better here and the food is ready more quickly. Since I no longer live in the area I took their word for it and our group of six had breakfast here. We only had to wait 10-15 minutes for a table at 9am on a Sunday, which was surprising. The service was quick and friendly and our food came out fast. They have a big menu to choose from and everyone really enjoyed what they ordered, with our coffee cups refilled promptly. read more

First time trying the Broken Yolk in Chula Vista. It's not convenient. It's a couple of miles. Dennys is practically 100 yards from my front door. Couldn't be more convenient. Bottom line: Dennys (NO BUTTER, NO BUTTER, NO BUTTER) is out. Even if Dennys were free, The Broken Yolk would get all my business going forward. They offer quality and value. Dennys most definitely does not. Suggestion for Dennys owner and management: take every worker to TBY for breakfast or lunch. Take each person a few times. Let the differences sink in. One more thing. TBY has breakfast "specials" from opening at 7:30 until 9:30. They make eating there no more expensive than Dennys. Just did a to go order on Uber eats and asked for extra gravy with my order and never received it but was charged for it. This is the second time this has happened to me recently ordering here. The cup it came in was the cup I usually get when I order just regular gravy. The gravy also wasn't filled all the way in the cup only about half way and the bacon is pretty much completely burnt. Getting disappointed in this place. It seems like recently I've been having problems with to go here...
