If I could give no stars I would. This is a horrible place! They don't put any warnings anywhere about them using PEANUT OIL in their cooking. We just ordered take out through a gracious friend of ours and he is deathly allergic to nuts. He started reacting after a bite and I called up to ask if they used peanuts at all. "They told me no, not at all". I thanked them and hung up. The signs weren't lessening, and his significant other takes up her phone and calls in posing as a corporate office organizing a catered event. She explained many of the employees suffer anaphylactic and can't be anywhere near peanuts. THAT was when they decided to tell us that they use peanut oil in the cooking. They lied out right and my friend is now having a horrible night just from the littlest bit entering his system. I for one am never ordering delivery or eatting here again, and if you have anyone in your family even remotely allergic I would steer clear. I hope they get shut down to be honest! read more

I ordered online using doordash. Restaurant got my order right and my order was as expected. I ordered fried rice noodles with shrimp. There really wasn't sauce of any kind so was very bland. Thankfully there was one packet of duck sauce to give it a little flavor. Shrimp were cooked well and not overdone. First experience where the doordasher wouldn't bring my food to my hotel room and I had to meet him in the lobby....there is no limitation in anyone using the escalator...so that was a nuisance. read more

Went there today with a large order and their food was horrible! The biggest disappointment was their fried rice which was not fried rice at all, it was just soggy "orange" looking white rice and some mixed vegetables in it. The egg rolls were the exact same ones that I've once purchased at the Dollar Tree store from their freezer section just out of curiosity and treated the exact same way, I kid you not. I will never go back to this place again, don't waste your money here! All of their food was disgusting. I like other people don't understand the four to five star reviews. read more

O Brothers Noodles where art thou? Probably not the tastiest lunch special you'll find in town, but easily the most affordable. Cheap enough to keep you from pulling out an hour's wages during lunch break (if you do please contact your local labor union), and tasty enough to make that PB&J your wife packed you look pretty dang inadequate. read more

It's cheap, it got an authentic feel to it, but that doesn't mean it's all that great. Got takeout, ordered Chicken Skewers and House Lo Mein. Total came to 15 dollars, but that was a big meal and they offer very inexpensive combos. You can get dinner for 7 bucks from a combo plate from what I saw. The Skewers were good, I enjoyed the chicken and it was seasoned well. A skewer platter of 4 was a lot of chicken. Thumbs up for the appetizer. The Lo Mein however, was bland as bland gets. It was mostly all noodle, and the meat there was... questionable. The chicken was basically stark white, and didn't have quite a chicken texture. I'm not going to say that it was something it shouldn't have been, but in all honesty it was not the same chicken as the Skewers, and it wasn't flavored at all. The beef and shrimp were okay, but the dish didn't have nearly enough vegetables or seasoning or spices to balance it. I had to add salt, pepper, soy, and sriracha to make it edible. Overall, it's an inexpensive Chinese restaurant and you get what you pay for. Is it better than Panda Express? I suppose you could argue it. If you're from the east coast and want a more at-home takeout experience, Brothers will do the trick. But otherwise... it's okay but somewhat forgettable. read more

I really wanted to be able to give this place five stars. I mean there are so few places to find fresh, handmade noodles in this town. Combine those with fresh ingredients and there is much potential. I have, however, just not been wowed with the flavors or textures of the food. Maybe I have just eaten at one too many Chinese buffets. On my first (takeout) visit I asked what their specialty was. The answer was... dumplings. The dough for those is also handmade from, I assume, the same dough as the noodles. I opted for the pork filling. The dough was tender and they were fresh and fairly tasty but I was expecting more of a flavor bomb than I got. As Ming-Min L. says, the dipping sauce is basically dolled up soy sauce. I got a broccoli and beef with fried rice for my wife. She let me taste it and, although the ingredients were fresh, it was also short on flavor. I will say that the price was right on that - $3.99. For $5.49, you can get two items and either steamed or fried rice. The second visit (also takeout) I tried what they call fried noodles. I call it lo mein. Whatever it's called they give you a ton of it. I got it to go and when I opened the container at home I was shocked at how packed it was. The ingredients were fresh, the meats were not overtreated so they were not mushy. I did, however, sense some slight mushiness to the noodles. I know they were fresh and maybe I am just more used to dense boxed noodles you cover with spaghetti sauce. It's probably just my lack of understanding of authentic Chinese food. My only truly valid critique was that I had ordered my food extra spicy. I wasn't getting that, so I added Sriracha for some more punch. I do give them four stars because I am, indeed, a fan of this family run business. It's in my neighborhood and I hope they stick around... sooner or later I am bound to break free from my buffet ways and see that these Brothers know how to use their noodle. read more

I'm always a fan of authenticity and, aside from the standard "American Chinese" fare that is a restaurant's (in this part of the world's) bread and buttah, Brothers has some genuinely tasty authentic food. Without a doubt, the dumplings should be on your list of things to try, as well as the beef noodle soup. You'll find the dumpling skin a good mixture of soft and chewy, with the fillings being hearty and not overly salty--my favorite is the egg, leek and shrimp. They are accompanied by dumpling sauce, which is just fancied up soy, but completely necessary and appropriate. The noodle soup hits the spot with its clean broth and sizeable chunks of meat. I've also had the house fried noodles which are a good, shareable portion and not overly oily. Although I haven't ordered it, it tickles me that that the comfort/kid food item "tomatoes and egg" is on the menu! Squirt some ketchup on it and it takes me back to being five again! I also haven't tried any of the lunch special items, but they seem to be a good deal (see previous review or check my menu pics). The restaurant is fairly new so I'm not sure if the interior will always stay so plain, but it's a simple setup: clean with scant decor. Helpful pictures of some dishes on printed banners if you need a hand deciding. They seem to keep it a bit warm in there so dress down if you're going to be slurping up hot soup! Lastly, I just want to say that I love seeing good Asian food outside the sphere of campus-town. Keep it up, Brothers! You're our new neighborhood spot! Update: oh yeah! Pork rib bone soup is it! All the great freshness of the beef soup everyone raves about but with tender pork rib meat (bone in, obviously) flavored traditionally with a subtle taste if Chinese five spice. Like many of the recent reviews below, this used to be our favorite take out place in Tucson (heavy emphasis on used), so much so that we were willing to drive 50 minutes round trip for food when we moved to the other side of town. Now, it seems they have changed management, or their food suppliers, or both, and the food is incredibly underwhelming and a far cry from what it used to be. The biggest disappointment comes from the dumplings and the veggie lo mein. The dumplings used to be hand made and authentic. Now, they are doughy with very little filling and taste as though they came from the frozen food section of a grocery store. The lo mein used to have thin noodles, lots of veggies mixed throughout, and great flavor. When we opened our take out container from our last visit, there were a few steamed veggies on the bottom of the container, and the noodles were thicker than normal and an odd yellow color uncharacteristic of lo mein just plopped on top. Disappointing all around, and we will no longer be eating here. Please, go back to your old ways so I can be in dumpling heaven again! read more

I read the reviews prior to visiting this place which is right across the street from where I live. Most of the people are completely right that this place is awesome! Like many of my fellow yelpers, all I ask is for good food and good customer service. I could really care less about the ambiance or anything like that so this place is perfect. I do not usually go to places within an hour of them closing because its just rude, but I went to Brothers on a Saturday night at 8:45 when they close at 9:30. (I had been meaning to try them for a few weeks now) My husband and I ordered the pork/cabbage dumplings, Mongolian beef and chicken fried rice. (I know, not very adventurous) but everything was so good and so fresh. We sort of peeked in the kitchen and saw them hand rolling the dumplings like right when we ordered them. And they tasted so good! The chicken fried rice was simple, yet very flavorful. The Mongolian beef had fresh, crisp veggies and tender beef. Our total bill was around $25 and we were gone by the time they closed, so I guess not only was the food fresh, but it was fast also! I definitely recommend this place! Can't wait to go there for lunch because the lunch specials look pretty awesome also. Please try them out because we can' keep them open if no one goes there! read more

It baffles me how anyone can give this place more than 2 stars. I came here three times since I like the items on their menu but each time was a bigger disappointment than the last. Cons: - POOR QUALITY OF FOOD; the chicken was BLACK because it was so dry and they actually microwaved it before pour sauce all over it. Tried their sweet and sour "fish". There was no fish (seriously), just stale fried dough with a thick slop over it. I cannot even eat one piece of it. The chicken dishes came with chicken that was BLACK, due to microwaving and it sitting in the freezer too long. Everything tasted like the first time someone tried to make a dish and failed miserably at it. - VERY LONG WAIT TIME. I ordered a beef noodle soup. Took 20 minutes. I heard microwave beeps. A few pieces of beef and some veggies, and the rest was a big ball of poor quality noodles. - PRICES: yes they have very low prices for lunches. I paid over 8 dollars for a bowl of noodles consisting nothing more than few pieces of beef and all noodles which were terrible. I paid 13 dollars for fish that obviously came out of a bag and mostly consisted of pre-fried dough and sauce. Pros: NONE Unfortunately this seems to be another asian restaurant where the owners overly skim on the food quality hoping their patrons wouldn't notice what they're doing. Well.. I came here hoping to try the noodles about a month ago. As a vegetarian, I was so bummed to find out that they used beef broth in all of their noodle dishes. Fortunately, my boyfriend was able to try it, and he loved it. On the other hand, they make an egg-cellent (punny much?) garlicky Chinese eggplant dish. It was served family-style over a hot bowl of rice. What a treat! As a side note, their dumplings can be custom-ordered to accommodate vegetarians. You just have to order it 30 minutes ahead of time. I came here last week and it was a weird experience. I came here to pick up some food for lunch and I had the sesame chicken and noodles; it was good, but a little oily. When coming in, the staff didn't seem as excited as I thought they'd be, the server never really made eye contact and made me feel a little out of place. After a couple of hours, the food even made my stomach feel a little icky. (This is a review on their take out, never went and ate inside of the restaurant, but stepping in, it looked a bit empty. When we ordered for delivery, we were told 30-40 minutes. At 1 hour we had to call to check the progress of our food. There was an undisclosed $2 delivery fee, it says that NOWHERE on the menu they stuck on my front door. My wife and I each got the General Tso's combo plate with fried rice. She added an egg roll, and I added the hot and sour soup. The egg roll was small(about 1 1/2 inches at best), undercooked, chewy, and basically inedible. My hot and sour soup was not consistent. It tasted like something out of a box. Some bites were spicy, some tasted like cardboard. There were very little vegetables or anything in the soup, it was mostly broth. The chicken was oddly small pieces, very soggy on the outside and chewy on the inside. If this was even actually chicken, it was frozen about 5 times over and felt gross. Neither of us finished our chicken, my wife had 3 bites. Out of sever hunger from the long wait time (considering we live around the corner) I ate MAYBE half my chicken. The sauce was not very good. General Tso's is supposed to be spicy, this was rather bland. The fried rice was decent, except for the chunks of raw onion. I love Tucson, but good Chinese food has never been its strong point. Enter Brothers Restaurant. All I can say is FRESH DUMPLINGS YES YES YES! This is a Northern China-style restaurant. I lived in Harbin, northern China for some time -- Brothers is legit! As other reviewers have noted, go for the dumplings and noodle dishes, all made fresh by hand. I'm a big fan of the pork-filling dumplings (Brother's flavoring on those is fresh and bright, mmmm so good!). My husband likes the beef filling better. The seafood ones are great, too. Honestly, just order all three fillings, can't go wrong ;-) I've also tried a good chunk of their menu otherwise and been pleased. The hot and sour soup in particular stood out -- a nice, deep broth without being thick and starchy. If you've only eaten off the lunch special menu, I recommend trying out some of their other stuff. Their lunch special menu is a little limited -- mostly American-Chinese-food and not the full spectrum of delicious tasties you can get on the full menu (but hey, can't beat the price). read more

I am determined to find the good hole in the wall restaurants. It is truly a hole in the wall but very accessible so for me that is great. The only real thing that matters after that is the service and the food. We went to the counter when we got there cause it is basically a takeout place with tables. They asked if we were taking out or staying and of course we stayed. The menus were brought over promptly. We weren't given a fair chance to look at the menu before asking what we wanted. I go on these lunches about once a month or so and it is a very leisurely lunch so we are in no rush. I say that to say we can be slow. We did order dumplings right away. I asked if they can do half orders so we can get two different kinds but was denied. We also then ordered beef with broccoli. We decided not to get an additional dish after we saw the woman walk out with a dish which was a good size. The dumplings were pork and a smallish size. It was ten dumplings for the order. I wasn't keen on the dumpling sauce so straight away had my friend get us some hot pepper oil which improved it greatly. The dumplings were ok nothing to write home about. Next we tried the beef and broccoli which also needed the hot pepper oil. The broccoli and beef had an odd taste. It wasn't a bad taste just odd. The food was very reasonable and you can even get a lunch special for $3.99 for one dish choice and I believe $5.49 for two dish choice. The portions were good in my book and I am a huge eater. The pricing was perfect. Overall if I lived in that neighborhood I would use it as a takeout joint just for a change of pace or laziness. The food was fairly bland and just ok. I don't even know where to start. Months ago, this was my favorite place to grab lunch in Tucson. It was this odd hole-in-the-wall place with amazing food, great portions, low prices. Their dumplings were literally one of the best things I've ever eaten. About a month ago, they must have changed ownership. Since then, their menus have gotten fancier, the decor a little nicer, and the staff no longer has trouble with English. Also, the food has gone intensely downhill. The fried rice is more appropriately described as 'yellow colored rice', undoubtedly sourced from a frozen instant rice product. The entrees for the lunch special have become decidedly unimpressive; for example the Mongolian Beef is more like Mongolian Onions with a tiny amount of mexican-style green chilie beef. At least they lowered the price, I guess. I'm afraid of what happened to the soups and dumplings. I don't even want to try it, and spoil my memories of those perfect leek-egg-shrimp bundles of yum. If the proprietor reads this; people dont come to authentic (for some value of authenticity) ethnic restaurants to get a better price than fast-food equivalents. They come for amazing food. You used to have amazing food at an amazing price. Now you have mediocre (at best) food at a price that isn't cheaper enough to entice me not to just go to Panda Express or something. read more

Let's start off with the customer service first. I'm really big on great service since I've worked in the industry for several years. They had excellent customer service. They made my husband and I feel very welcomed and made great suggestions. Even offered to show us what certain items on their menu looked like so we can see if we would like it or not. The food. I was so excited to see that they served chicken curry. I have been craving curry and trying to find a place that serves it the way I like is hard. It was perfect. They didn't overload the sauce on the chicken which is a plus. Only thing I would of liked or suggest is if they added a little more spice to it. My husband got the beef noodle soup and the noodles tasted really good. I love that they make them by hand. The broth had so much flavor. If I ever get sick. I know where I'm ordering from. I recommend this place for a cheap but good lunch. A bit salty but worth the high blood pressure. One critique: their hot and sour soup could work on the "sour" part and add some more chinkiang vinegar... I'll even take some white pepper for the "spicy" part more too. Waiting for my takeout order so I figured why not, been here 3 times I believe I'm adequate to write a review. I base my standards on different scenarios. If it's a fancy restaurant, you'll get judged differently then a fast food, etc. This place reminds me of nyc Chinese takeout. Yea, the broth definitely isn't freshly made beef broth. Tastes more like hot water and soy sauce...pass! I also tried their fried fish dish, which was one of the most expensive items on the menu, and because of the price difference it means very few people probably orders the dish...which means their fish is prob. frozen, defrost and then made SOO knowing all this, why did I order it?! Well, I didn't look at the price when ordering...lesson learned! **One last thing for management...the last time I went there was no A/C, just a rotating fan(while waiting for takeout, I coincidentally sat at the only table the wind from the fan was hitting and it was still hot. Really nice place overall! Visited tonight for dinner with the family. After leaving Seattle to settle in Tucson, we've been on the search for a quality Chinese place and finally we found one. The highlights were definitely the dumplings - we had the steamed cabbage and pork - nicely spiced meat and the dough was just right in the middle of doughy and light. We also had the pickled pork noodle soup, the shrimp noodles, shrimp noodle soup and the house fried rice. Pickled pork was top notch, the noodles were hand drawn and nicely chewy, the broth was great but the shrimp could have been fresher. The fried rice had lots of veggies and had a nice touch of the wok. Also had the hot tea with nice, friendly service. We'll be returning for comfort chinese food with a heavy hand of authenticity. read more

My boyfriend & I got a wild hair for Chinese take-out and found this place on Yelp. It was spur of the moment on the way home so we just skimmed the reviews. I saw several mentions of tasty dumplings so we quickly ordered Beef & Celery dumplings and Leek, Egg & Shrimp dumplings. Not sure if they were steamed or fried, they didn't ask and we didn't know yet to specify. I wish we had taken the time to read the menu longer!! We didn't bother until we sat to wait for the food. Curry Chicken (in either form?) sounded great but we will be back! The dumplings are a keeper! Leek, Egg & Shrimp were the favorite we will order again.
