He diagnosed the issue, evaluated the exposed piping, and was able to identify the exact location of the leak. Shortly afterward, he informed me that he did not have the proper materials with him but assured me that if I was comfortable with a $2,000 repair, he would return the next day and fix the problem. The technician returned the following day and began the work. Not long after, I received a call stating that the pipe underground was "outdated" and that the only solution was to run an entirely new main water line from the street to the house at an estimated cost of $20,000. Needless to say, I was shocked. Just one day earlier, I had been told with confidence that the leak could be repaired for $2,000. I informed the technician that I would need time to consider my options. At that point, he stated that he needed payment for the work already performed, so my wife wrote him a check for $1,000. When I returned home later that day, I found that my concrete had been jackhammered, my lawn had been torn up, my drip irrigation line had been cut, and a sprinkler line had been damaged. In other words, I paid $1,000 to have my property left in worse condition than when Orange Coast Plumbing arrived. Based on my experience, this felt like a classic bait-and-switch tactic designed to upsell a customer from a $2,000 repair to a $20,000 replacement project. I ultimately hired a third-party plumber who evaluated the issue and successfully resolved it. In addition, I obtained three separate quotes for replacing the same main water line, and they ranged from $7,500 to $9,900. That is a far cry from the $20,000 price quoted by Orange Coast Plumbing. Before posting this review, I made multiple attempts to contact management to discuss and resolve the situation directly. Unfortunately, my concerns were not addressed. I would have preferred to settle this matter privately, but since that effort went nowhere, I feel obligated to share my experience so other homeowners can make informed decisions. Both jobs were done with the skill and attention to detail of a master plumber. Price was competitive with others in the area. It's been over a year since the leak repair and everything has held up perfectly. The shower drain rough-in was centered exactly where it needed to be and completely leak-free. I'm fairly handy myself, and Andrew has always been willing to share helpful pointers along the way, which I really appreciate. Coastline Plumbing has become my go-to plumbers. Whenever Andrew is on the job, I can relax knowing the work is being done correctly and built to last. One thing to expect: Andrew was upfront about this from the beginning, but Coastline typically doesn't patch drywall or plywood after plumbing work, so you may need to hire someone separately for that part. I think that's standard for plumbers specialized in their trade. In my case, I patched them up myself.

I posted a comment on JIT's webpage and no one bothered to reach out. I wonder how many people that plumber has scammed out of significant money. Add another - as he was leaving, he remarked that we didn't have a pressure regulator on our incoming water line - I told him we did have one but we had it removed - and then he started low-key arguing with me saying he didn't see any evidence one ever existed. I remember when Justin had a small business and he was awesome. Be wary now, their plumber appear to have a reason to upsell as much as they can. Not the kind of plumber I want to deal with.

He explained what he was doing and what other services may possibly be needed (without any sales pitch). Thankfully, a basic clean-out did the job. $150 when other quotes were at least $180. After talking to a couple of plumbers that we use in the Custom Homebuilding company I work for and making no progress, I remembered Crandall's and decided to give them a call. Since it wasn't an emergency, I scheduled the appt for a Monday morning. After explaining the situation, I was told the team would be out with a snake and camera equipment. Hector worked diligently to diagnose the problem. They were able to get a great understanding and explained the issue and repair, and provide a quote within minutes, which due to how well it was explained and showing me the video images, I quickly approved. They said they would start the next day. After asking if I had any other issues, I had them change out a cartridge in one of my showers that was stuck due to non-use. Day two was excavation and discovery, and even with all the complications, Hector calmly explained that he anticipated most of it and even with a couple of related issues, he said he could handle it all. Work included jackhammering a footing and removing a large tree root, that were crushing my main line, installing a two way clean-out, replacing the damaged section and hydro-jetting my entire mainline. All major work was done in one day, but they did have to come back on Wednesday to back fill and cap off the clean-outs. When they were done the area was just as nice as it was before the work. We discussed the ongoing maintenance to assure it doesn't get to this point again, and after 10+ years of being on my mind, I finally feel good with the plumbing issues with my home.
