Browning Collision was selected as our chosen auto repair shop after getting into a car accident. Our Toyota Prius got sandwiched, and most of the back bumper was practically gone and had a few scratches in the front. Since our vehicle was inoperable, a tow truck from my Mercury insurance took it there. They evaluated the damage and we got a quote for about $8000 total (all covered from the at fault driver). Initially, they finished repairing the back damage within a week. However, once we went to pick up the vehicle, we noticed that the front damage was not addressed. We pointed it out and Albert reevaluated and got a new quote from our Mercury Insurance. They fixed everything within 2 days. So, it took about 10 days total from the moment it was dropped off to final pick up to complete everything, which is pretty fast in our eyes. Insurance paid for all of it, even our $1000 deductible. Meaning it was free for us. We had some normal wear and tear driving throughout the year, but because of this one incident; they fixed all damages, so we practically felt like we left with a brand new vehicle. The only complaint I have was the slow/lack of communication between our car insurance and the repair shop. I had to proactively call the auto repair shop to update on the status of where my vehicle was located, what the timeframe of repair looked like, and who would pay what. Other than that, Albert (our adjuster) was great! He was friendly and professional. Good service! I'm just glad I didn't have to pay that price. read more

The overall experience was amazing the check in process the keeping me "in the loop" the quality of work performed everything was as it should be. Unprofessional and unresponsive liars...the "Manager" named Abby claims she ordered parts for my vehicle, however my insurance never approved the estimate. So obviously they would not waste their time and money on parts they are not positive would be covered. All lies... To begin with, I made an appointment for an inspection, and when I arrived there was not an estimator available for my appointment. The worker at the front desk proceeded to take pics of my vehicle. Come to find out he didn't take the correct pics so the original estimate was denied. I never received any calls from this establishment with any updates about what my estimate being denied nor did they communicate with me that they needed additional photos. It was always me calling to find out the next steps. In the end I'm taking my vehicle to a different shop for work to be done. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE. Quote was quick and easy. Got insurance agent to approve work and dropped off the car. The expected two week repair seemed to be smooth with text updates daily saying it would be ready on schedule. The Friday of pickup they closed without a call telling me to pickup my car. I called the following Monday and they said it would be another few days a part didn't arrive. Two weeks later without any further text updates my car was ready. On pickup I pointed out a few mistakes chipped and scratched mirror that looked worse than before they swapped it. Rear spoiler was loose two of the four fasteners were holding it on. My car got a replacement part with an ant infection. The car was crawling with ants. The right front door no longer locks or stays latched shut. If you want sloppy work that takes more than twice as long and requires multiple visits to resolve issues they create this spot is perfect . read more

CARSTAR was able to evaluate my vehicle within 3 days which I was expecting 5. During the whole time I was aware of what was happening with my vehicle. I was able to see how much my insurance would cover and what I would be paying out of pocket. Henry was great with his communication, I appreciate all the help that the staff provided. read more

First at the time of pick up because they said our vehicle was ready. Our 5 minute test drive where a browning representative was present didn't alert us of any issues. Upon arriving back to the body shop. My fiancée walk in the office to pay our part if the invoice. While I stood outside. What luck just two days prior I did a complete visual inspection of the vehicle and it seemed ok at that time. That was that time. As I walked to the front of the vehicle I noticed it was involved in another accident prior to the test drive. . Can you believe that ? I walk over to the office as they were paying and I informed them. They could believe it themselves. They confirmed it was involved in and accident and provided us with a rental. They were great on that. They fixed everything themselves at no cost to us or the insurance company while providing us this a rental. I give them 5 stars for that. After we got our vehicle back it took about a week for the issues to be noticed. Vehicle goes to the right when driven. There is a loud humming sound that was never there. All lights inside the vehicle turn off while being driving. The odometer the dash board everything turns off. I was lucky enough to record this. My video on my iPhone clearly has the time and date so they can't say it's another issue that happened afterwards and they are not responsible. When we took our vehicle back can you believe they told us they will not honor the warranty. I repeat I was told they will not accept the car back and will not honor the warranty given to us by them for the work done by them ? My Confidence in this shop has crashed away. I've received repairs here a few years ago so when I got hit this was obviously a choice to try again especially with the connection to Browning Mazda where bought car from. The service was great then and repairs were done good and timely. But...I was wrong and a complete change of management and staff for the worse since then. This review is based on the estimation process as I ended up choosing another body shop. First estimation, arrived at time of appointment; 1p that was scheduled with them on the phone. I arrive, and no estimators around because they were all at lunch. I wait in lobby for 20-30 minutes. Finally an estimator arrives and takes estimation and photos with insurance information. He was not friendly and definitely wanted to go back inside to go about his day. Couple weeks go by and insurance contacts me and they are waiting on estimation and photos. We get on phone with the receptionist and they have no record of my visit or estimation...WTH...so schedule another one. Second estimation, I get there and go inside. The manager is outside talking to workers outside so she definitely sees me go inside. There is no receptionist so I am waiting for 10min, while manager still outside laughing, so I just reach over desk to get the form to fill out. When receptionist finally arrives and takes form, I wait even longer although a scheduled appointment; they are waiting on an estimator. The whole time in lobby waiting I can hear pure unorganized chaos mess. Manager was constantly very loud yelling from her office orders to workers and constantly paging outside workers to come inside for issues. I could hear them talking about so many issues from a car should've been totaled cause insurance cost limits to a lot relating to they don't have the parts yet. There was also someone calling to speak to manager on why parts taking so long. The manager tells receptionist to tell them she is not around and to call back in the morning for a part update. This was the repair shop that was chosen as part of my insurance company. From my experience there is no way I would ever go back to them or would recommend them. They are very irresponsible, don't get back to you on a timely manner and don't about what your going through. I call my estimator several times a day and he doesn't get back to me. When I do get a hold of him, I get the same story on why my car repairs are delayed. I have no transportation for work and the estimator keeps telling me that he can get me a loaner car, that he has a customer coming in and he'll have a car for me in a day or two. It's been a month and I'm still waiting for a loaner car. I was told that my truck would be ready by September 16, 2022. I received a text on Friday, September 9, 2022 and Monday, September 12, 2022 that my truck is on schedule to be completed by September 16, 2022. On Tuesday, September 13, 2022 I receive another text message " we are nearing completion. If we encounter any delays we'll call you. Then on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 I receive a text message saying, "we have updated your estimated completion date from 09/16/2022 to 09/23/2022. Yet I received no call from my estimator or anyone from the company regarding the delay or about getting me a loaner car. With the experience I've had so far with this company, I'm not going to hold my breath that my truck will be repaired by 9/23/2022. read more

Simply put, if you want basic customer service, a good experience, to have your car returned in a timely manner (did I mention they had it for 3 months?), and to have your car returned actually fixed properly... DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE. Don't get fooled into thinking this is the dealer, it's just a contractor of some sort. They don't even do all types of work at this place. Do NOT take your car here if you expect speedy service or even a call back for the status of your car. I'm fully aware that the pandemic has left things less than desirable for working conditions. BUT this place has dropped the ball in every sport! I hadn't approved work on my car yet my bumper was removed and awaiting parts?!? Make that make sense???!!! I went from one agent who got promoted passed to another agent just to go BACK to the lady who go promoted.... As if this was a good use of time. Then I was promised my car OR a loaner by a December 9th... it's currently December 15th and I still don't have a vehicle to drive. I was told my car was in the "paint department" then a week later they tell me they are waiting for parts which are nationally on back order. They need to get there s**t because this is extremely rude to leave me hanging with no car for thanksgiving my birthday holiday parties and general Xmas shopping. After a month and a half in, this shop still couldn't get the job done right. At first I thought by bringing my civic si to Browning Collision that I would rest easy and have a piece of mind... I was WRONG! Prolonged after prolonged and more delays I began to lose my patience. I had this gut feeling that I had made a bad choice by choosing this shop I wondered why it's taking this long to complete a moderate repair/install job? My car had an unfortunate incident were it hit the side railings on the hwy after some as***le swerved into my lane causing me to veer hard to the right side to avoid contact with his vehicle. It had left damages to the right side of the car starting from fr fender, pass door, rear pass door, rear quarter panel and of course it threw the alignment off. So I made a decision to bring it to Browning Collision located in the Cerritos Auto Square. I chose this shop because it was conveniently close by to where I live. To make the story shorter almost after two months without my car Browning Collision has postponed and prolonged the deadline of repair completion nearly the same amount of time they held my car. Turns out the alignment test failed at the end! No shit?!?! Any professional mechanic shop would FIRST tackle any mechanical issues before repair of any cosmetic damages!!! Holy shit!! Not only they did not address the main problem first, they failed to do the job right! I picked up my car, after cruising around to get the feel of my car back I hear metal rubbing coming from the right side! I'm so done with this shop!! Now I'd have to bring it to another shop to get it diagnose and repair. I chose to give this shop 1 star for completing the cosmetic repairs by replacing it with new parts and the superb paint/blend job but as far as mechanical repairs stay away. Looking at the paperwork 48hrs of labor was docked to complete the repairs yet they held my car for nearly two months!! read more

Had my car repaired at Carstar and it was done professionally and looked like new when done.

I read the other reviews on here and despite seeing all the negatives I went against my better judgment and went here anyway. What an absolute headache it was to attempt to deal with this shop while my vehicle was in. I'd be hard pressed to try and find a time where I've spent this much money at a place just for them not to even be able to take a phone call. The service representative I had was polite and friendly, however not once did I get a status update call without me first having to call 3 times and leave messages with whoever the receptionist was that moment, or just have them transfer me to the individuals answering machine without even checking that they were at their desk and able to take a call. It was next to impossible to get a hold of the guy. And no one else can tell you the status of your vehicle except the one person coordinating it's repair apparently. I will say the repair work they did turned out excellent and I'm very pleased with how it looks. That's the reason they're getting any stars over 1. This experience would've been much much better if the customer service had been even somewhat professional. I even inquired with my service representative and they claimed they're "growing" but it's very clear they're short staffed and it's definitely affecting the customer service. read more

So I got my hood redone (blended) and it's probably been a couple months since the rework. They got me a rental since it was a warranty job, but man...I was so miserable for 3 days with that sad rental. I couldn't wait to get my car back. The person who took care of me made sure I was happy with the job. He was cordial and sincere. (My only gripe is that the pink pen marks they made on my car with NR for no repair was still a little left around my car.) 2 months later I found another pink spot and a faint shadow of it. But either way they fixed my issue and I'm glad it's all done. I just hope it lasts. Btw the manager wasn't really much help at all and actually his attitude over the phone wasn't really good. I want to start by saying that this has been the worse and most disappointing experiences I have had with a business in my entire life. I went as far as reaching out to Matt Browning and never heard back from him now I know why his management team are so terrible because it starts at the top. I took my Jeep because my light bar was stolen and in the process there were scratches and the cowls were broken. I was under the impression this would have a quick turn around but I was very wrong. I was told that they needed to paint all of the areas as they could not just blend in the color and the Door, fender, and pillars would need to be completely repainted and the cowls would need to be ordered and painted as well. Three weeks later I was told the Jeep was ready and when I arrived the craftsmanship looked as if this had been done in the back of someones home there were clear coat pops all over, Swirls, Wrangler decal missing on the fender, clips on my front seat and the tint on my front driver door was scratched. I returned as requested and I dealt with the the most unprofessional, vulgar, unrefined, inarticulate so called Manager by the name of Rudy. This man is not a manager or leader he represents the Browning name in the worse possible way. This man couldn't show any sort of empathy he is lacks interpersonal skills so badly he couldn't properly introduce himself. 4 times I had to go back and email Matt Browning and Omar Demoss the man in charge of this body shop. I received 2 calls from Omar and never heard back not even to follow up on how things were, now things were making sense this is the culture that is cultivated in this company and they can care less about their customers. I have emails, text messages and photos I can share if anyone is interested but the purpose of this email is to warn consumers to not come here or do any sort of business with them unless you want to be disappointed and have false expectations of your vehicle being ready when it is not. One thing I will mention is that there was only one person worth mentioning that did a good job and that is Armando the estimator. He took it upon himself to make things right he did what management could not and that was confront the problem and fix it. My car was towed from my home to Browning Carstar because it was not drivable. Then basically sat there for a week. They never even did a visual assessment to give to my insurance. The contacts also had poor communication and definitely no sense of urgency. I ended up getting my car towed to another establishment and had same day estimate and response. Also I was charged the towing fee from Browning even though they did absolutely nothing with my car. Actually that was the best service I received, when it was time to collect my credit card info. I encourage everyone to go somewhere else for their car repairs and would give zero stars if that was an option. It's just not worth saving some time and money going here- I've surely learned my lesson. Had a damaged antenna that needed to be repaired and while I was purchasing the part from Acura, they recommended CarStar for the installation/roof repair. Armando at CarStar reassured me they could install the new antenna and pop back up the dent in the roof no problem in 1-2 days. When they informed me my car was all ready for pick up, I thought I was all set. When I picked up the car, the brand new antenna already had some scratches on it and there was a significant gap between the antenna base and the roof. I called back Armando the next day, and he said "oh yeah, we couldn't repair the roof, that would cost extra". WTF, u didn't think to notify me while you were installing the antenna that the roof needs further repair before you put everything back together? I honestly think they just hoped I wouldn't notice the gap. I said ok, how much more would it cost and how long it would take. He said something like $800 more and would take another week. I asked if there was a rental available, he said he'd put me on the 'waiting list' and call me when its available. Well, he never called and when I tried contacting him, he never responded. This place is a scam. I ended up getting my car repaired somewhere else and wish I would have gone there first. They even said CarStar damaged my brand new antenna when they were trying to install it and I agree because there were scratches on my brand new antenna when I picked it up that wasn't there before (I checked the part when I picked it up at Acura before I personally handed it over to CarStar). Waste of time, money, and never ever again. Please don't give this place any business, they don't care about doing a good job and will cut corners where ever they can. read more

Mario and Ken are the best estimators Ive ever encountered. This is by far the most efficient collision center I've ever used to repair my vehicle. The customer service is impeccable!! I have had no issues with this establishment whatsoever I am a repeat customer and it's the family like environment that brings me back. The owners should be very proud of the support staff that they have especially during these rough times. Ken and Mario have handled all of my claims expeditiously. The quality of work is outstanding! Every repair that I've had done at Browning Carstar Collision has resulted in my vehicle looking as if it was brand new from a dealership. There's also a receptionist name Ashley who always has a pleasant demeanor and is very courteous. If I could write this business 10 stars or more, I would. This is the worst collision center. Every time we have to come here because of warranty issues we receive our car worst off. The first time they needed to fix our side back panel that was peeling off. It took them over a month with no rental car. They would avoid our phone calls when we would ask about our car and never return our calls when we would leave a message. Then gaslight us and say they called and never got a hold of us. The second time we came back was because the initial repairs of our side panel didn't hold up and started peeling off again. It took another month to fix but we got a rental car. However they discovered minor scratches and charged us almost $700 in damages. When we got home we discovered our "fixed" car had our back up sensor was unplugged and hanging out the back, we have our check engine lights on, our steering wheel is chipping from sun/heat damage and we have a gnarly scratch on the front of my car that wasn't there before. If you can go anywhere else for warranty issues I recommend it. read more

This is definitely not a place I can recommend to anybody. I went to Carstar after a collision based on AAA recommendation. Their job was to fix the front end of my car after it got hit on the driver side. I got my car back within the timeframe I was given. While driving on the freeway a few days later, both the engine splash shield and the left front wheel liner flew off and almost hit the car behind me. I pulled off the freeway, saw some liquid coming out and was advised by AAA to get it towed back to Carstar. I talked to Carlos and he promised to give me an update/estimate, but never got that call. He didn't even apologize for what happened either. I had to hound this guy for an update and this happened twice. When I finally got the car back, I talked to another guy to get an explanation of what happened and what they did this time around, and this is when my opinion of this company got solidified. This is basically what I was told: I must have hit something big for the liner and shield to come off. There are tons of clips there to secure the liners, so it shouldn't come off all of a sudden. It could not be them because they secured all the clips. When I said I didn't hit something, he basically repeated the same thing about how there are a lot of clips in there so it shouldn't have come off. I asked that if I did hit something, it had to be something kind of big and substantial. After all, these liners and guards are supposed to take a little bit of hit, right? And if I did hit this "something big," wouldn't there be some kind of scratch or dent on the fenders and bumpers they just replaced? It looks clean and spotless to me. And if he does believe that I hit something, then we can conclude that it was my fault those liners came off, right? Then how come they're not charging me for this work? I mean, they're not a charity foundation. We went back and forth and I realized that this is just going around in circles and this is not going anywhere. He will not admit that it is possible that they did not secure the liners properly and they will not apologize. Seriously, if they just apologized in the first place, I would have been ok with this. Miffed, but not enough to write this review and just chalk this situation as just one of those crappy things that happen. Anyway, I got home and decided to a have another look at their work. Guess what? They did not replace the engine splash shield. There's nothing there. I contacted AAA and informed them of the situation. But I was fuming at this point and seeing that this is probably easier for me to replace on my own, I took care of it. The missing piece was less than a hundred bucks. I'd rather spend that than deal with them again and waste more time. So folks, my recommendation is to don't go here. Even if they're a AAA premiere body shop, my experience with them is way below premiere. And next time somebody recommends a AAA approved place, I'll just ignore that part. read more

They couldn't find the appraisal and also didn't even know who actually looked at the car. They asked me to describe the individual who helped me?? I guess they don't file by customer name. Worst customer service ever make sure not to pay them up front or they'll definitely take there sweet time. Lack of professionalism is a definite. They seem frazzled with the work load. If you've taken too many cars...?maybe don't take on more than you can chew. And don't bother getting stuff done once they've delivered the car even though it was rush and missed work that took 5 weeks to do for a 2-3week job at most. You'll be stuck making all the phone calls that they should be making. What's the point of taking it to this shop if "one" becomes a unpaid employee?? This place is ridiculous and I wish a million times over that I just would've taken it to my own shop instead of listening to my insurance company. Things were slapped together and I've noticed. And I removed parts to install properly, only to find a bunch of foot prints all over the "newly" painted parts! I'm sure if I go down the invoice list...I will find inaccurate parts and more frustration. Please take your vehicle elsewhere, you'll be better off and not deal with incompetence. read more

I called in to this shop with a situation regarding my paint job. I was asked if I could come by and show to Ken Colston. He took time out of a busy schedule to try and get the spots off the car. It worked. I brought back in on scheduled date and was called when complete. The car looked brand new again. He was polite,professional,compassionate and kind. I was so impressed with the care and concern for my Mazda. I will go nowhere else, recommend this shop and highly hope that Ken gets some juice from this review. read more

I recently got into a car accident and went to Browning Collision to the guy who my wife, friends and I have gone to for years, Anthony Guinn. At first I contacted him at his old repair place Caliber Collision in Carson only to found out that he was not working there anymore. Thank God our friends found out that he was now at Brown Collision. Once again, his service was just outstanding and our car repair experience was amazing... It's funny, I told Anthony that he is the "Nordstroms of auto body repair" and that my only gripe with him is that he did not tell us he left Anyway, if you need auto body work, I would highly recommend CarStar Browning, but just ask for Anthony!
