I had some problems there. The service was good, and the employees were very professional and polite. The biggest problem I have is the theme of the restaurant and the quality of the food. The restaurant's theme is meant to give tribute to the part of the Forrest Gump Movie when the main characters go out and create a successful Gulf Shrimping company. However, when the food came out, I quickly recognized what kind of shrimp they were using, and it was of a very poor quality. I have a lot of experience in the restaurant business, and I know that a lot of the cheaper restaurants buy these shrimp from fish farms in Southeast Asia. I asked the waiter if he knew where they bought these shrimp. And yes, he found out that they do buy these shrimp from Taiwan. I know that sounds picky, but considering the major theme of the restaurant is to give tribute to American Gulf shrimp fishing that was highlighted in film, and they don't even use Gulf shrimp. Came here for a Contiki included dinner while travelling the East Coast. Got the Mama Blue's Southern Charmed Fried Shrimp- since I couldn't not have shrimp while at Bubba Gump's! Came as a casual meal of hot, crispy fries and cocktail dipping sauce. We also got drinks- had a Margarita lime which came in a huge margarita bowl/glass with an upside down Corona bottle in- which was good fun. We ordered two corona Rita's with two spicy chicken pastas and they were so filling and the drinks were ON POINT!! This was our Anniversary meal and first time at any Bubba Gump Shrimp establishment. The staff was very attentive and helpful. Our server was prompt and efficient even though this place was extremely busy. We had the equal of the Fisherman's platter. It was well done and tasty with plenty of sauces and they even brought extra. My wife suggested we tell our server it was our anniversary and he recognized us and brought a special cupcake to our table before we left. I really liked the fun decor and themes. We came in and sat at the bar. We ordered drinks and food. Received them at a reasonable time. I ordered ranch for my chicken. It never came. Continuously waves down the bartenders. One bartender gave me the "one minute finger", but never came over. We had to ask the host for service. My food was cold and I still had no ranch. I tried to wave down the bartender again for ranch but now another drink too... Still no service. We asked the host to get the manager for us. We explained our experience to the manager and he was smiling and laughing. Very unprofessional. When I ordered my chicken I was asked "fries or mashed potatoe?" As if it came with it. My check claimed my fries were an extra $5... if my side is extra then I need to be told so. Or asked "would you like to ADD a side?" ... overall worst dining experience I've ever had. read more

I went mid afternoon on a Wednesday. I sat at the bar because I was told that was the only seating available, although I could look around and see plenty of other seating available, but whatever...wasn't even greeted by the people running the bar area, I had to wave them down after a few minutes to place my drink and food orders. Food came out in a timely manner, but was just ok, nothing spectacular. Little overpriced in my opinion but I get it's Miami, and you're paying for the novelty of the place too. A couple of my friends and I decided to check this place out since it's located right at the beginning of the Bay Side Market... also super cute that it's a Forrest Gump theme. We were seated immediately. Got to our table that's when our experience went down hill. Our waitress did not have great customer service. She was so pushy and kinda had an attitude with us. We had our "stop" sign up because everyone at the table ran out of drinks and no one stopped for 20 minutes- we ended up flagging someone down. At the end of the meal our waitress went to grab our bill and mentioned "the tip was not included." Weird right?? We're all mid 20s- early 30s... we know how checks work. Bar service is horrible and Shawanda is a hot mess. All we wanted was a glass of water without a side of attitude. She acknowledged the fact she was giving everyone a hard time but fails to realize I'm not here for a hard time, but for food. As she is yapping away and doing nothing with customers on the opposite side of the bar, her counterpart LaTasha is running in circles trying to take care of everyone at the bar and every other order from the restaurant. Thank you LaTasha for making this our first and LAST experience here a decent one. Shawanda can take a few lessons on proper bartending and customer service from you because she is bound to get someone seriously sick. Now let's talk food sanitation for a minute. Receipts should NOT be placed across the top of a poured beverage, mixing cups should be rinsed in between drinks, ice could not be manipulated inside of a glass with your bare hands after handling food and money, drink garnishments (lemons, limes, etc.) should not be handled with bare hands. Oh Lord.....Shawanda just cleaned a spilled drink off of the floor with her bare hands and paper towels then rinsed them off, literally, with a splash of water....no kidding. This girl needs to go before she gets somebody sick. Again, many thanks to LaTasha for taking good care of us. The food is lack luster and over priced for sure.
