This is another touristy restaurant along Universal city walk. It's pretty good food for an expensive price. I've been to other locations before and they were slightly better. We ordered some drinks and some Calamari for an appetizer. It was good. For our main courses. it was Shrimp New Orleans for me, and fish and chips and the strawberry salad with chicken for my daughter and wife. My shrimp had flavor but was over cooked quite a bit, but after a long day at Universal, I wasn't feeling up to sending it back. My daughter enjoyed her fish and chips. The same with my wife's salad. Superrrrr patient (we had an insanely huge party of 20) and he's so detail oriented, super funny, amazing with the kids and went above and beyond. Wife and I grabbed a bit at Bubba Gump after a day at the park. We've been to Bubba Gump before and haven't ever had a bad experience. My wife had the Beyond Burger and I wish I had taken a picture, the size of the patty blew my mind when they brought it out to her and she said it's an amazing burger, she really enjoyed it. I had Forrest's Seafood Feast and it was quite tasty. The fish was well seasoned and cooked, I really liked the seafood hush puppies, the shrimp were alright they were basic fried shrimp to me. The sauces that came with it all were great and added nice flavor to the dish. I did order a drink from the bar and it took quite a long time to come out. I ordered it just before the food arrived and I was nearly finished before it came out. We also asked our server about trivia and she kind of brushed it off and said that's usually done in the main room. I guess because we got sat in a small section off to the side we're excluded from that? It was a bit of a bummer but none the less the food was good. read more

Such a fun place! We were walking around the mall area, looking at all the shops and attractions, and thought we could get dinner here as it seemed more quieter, quicker service that evening. The restaurant is definitely a tourist attraction and the decor is all Forrest Gump related, which is amusing and seeing the quotes on the walls as well as familiar faces from the movie. The waiter seemed a bit over his shift and was nice to check on us here and there; the person at the end with movie trivia was a lot of fun as well & interacting with the crowd. My friend and I went on a Saturday. Had just left universal and figured we would stop in for a shared plate and a drink. We sat at the bar, ordered, got our drinks. 2 guys sat on our left, and another on our right. We hadn't noticed that the guys on our left had not yet ordered, but were already eating. The guy on our right then got his food, and we still had not gotten our order. The bartender came over realized we had yet to get our food, walked away and came back to let us know our food was given to someone else. Any Forrest Gump ANYTHING I absolutely love because 1: He loved Dr Pepper like me! And 2: It's the one of the best movies universally! that we all loveMy go to when we eat here is usually their shrimp caesar however their fish and chips of chicken caesar salad (with a Dr Pepper of COURSE) and these dishes do not disappoint either! The service is awesome! One of my favorite things about this restaurant as well is the San Francisco one the servers will do is play a Forrest Gump trivia where they'll go around the table and ask questions about the movie. Lol it's super cute, I hope they never stop doing that it makes it so fun! The Ambiance is either chill or busy. No in between, but no matter what they will ALWAYS make sure you're taken care of! Myles was hands-down one of the most fun, attentive, and genuinely kind servers we've had in a long time. My husband and I shared the shrimper's heaven, clam chowder, and a side of mashed potatoes. The shrimp were on the smaller side but cooked just right! The clam chowder is decent, but not the best I've had. When we arrived, we were seated right away and it was a rather quiet place to eat at, although we did come for an early lunch. If you're into Forrest Gump (as I am) and into kitsch (as I am) and corporate restaurant chains (as I am) and tourist traps (as I am)... then this is your idea of a great time! The place is a hoot, completely massive and overwhelming and that's saying something given that it's smack dab in the middle of Universal Studios CityWalk and all the insanity that comes with. So, in the middle of all this you can expect that the food isn't the star of the show. I got something called the Fisherman's Platter, or something like that. Essentially a lo-fi version of everything you get at Malibu Seafood: fries, fried fish, shrimp, seafood hushpuppies. I think I was supposed to get tempura shrimp and some other varieties, except I got tiny fried shrimp that tasted about as rubbery as you would expect. The fries, meh. But the fish was genuinely tasty, and this is my first time getting seafood hush puppies, but it will most definitely not be my last! My dinner companions got mahi mahi with lobster butter. That dish was so good it almost felt like they were eating at a different restaurant. You can get validated parking -- please remember to write down where you parked or you'll get hopelessly lost! The service is top notch. There are red and blue signs at the table. One calls a server, the other sign tells the servers not to bother you. I've forgotten which is which. Old age... it happens to the best of us, sigh... All in all, my kinda place, but your mileage will definitely vary. read more

Made a reservation for a group dinner on Open table. This was for an annual friends get together, and we had finished watching Wicked For Good at the AMC before heading to dinner. We arrive 9 mins early for our 730 and the hostess was surly and rude, told me I didn't have a reservation. I pulled up my confirmation on OpenTable and she finds it... but tells us we have to wait until our reservation time to be seated. Mind you it's now 723 and our reservation is for 730. We were a Benetton group... meaning we were all minorities: Asian, Black and Hispanic. The hostess made us wait 7 minutes before seating us. A male assistant manager came up and I asked him if we could be seated as it was now 5 minutes to reservation time. He seemed puzzled and sat us right away. We walked by empty tables so I'm not sure what power trip the hostess was on... The waiter was nice enough and was able to split our check into 3 so that was very nice. Food came out quickly but was missing a sauce that took forever to come out. We asked 3 times for it before it came out. My stuffed shrimp was okay. I should have stuck to the coconut shrimp. Waiter never came back for refills either. My friends shrimp boil was not cleaned properly with lots of intestines left despite being split down the back. No refills were offered and I honestly didn't care to flag our waiter down bc there was no saving the night. This place is for tourists 100% and the workers here probably do the minimum because they figure they won't get repeat locals... and guess what? They are right! I won't be back! read more
