Solid all-American steakhouse located in Mill Valley. It was about a 25 minute wait for an order placed at 4pm on a Saturday. They were crazy packed when I stopped by to pick up my order, and reservations are highly recommended for the weekend. Their bar seating is first come first served, but they were already fully booked at that time, and the restaurant was also fully committed that night. Overall, this was a solid meal, and pretty reasonably priced in this area for the portion sizes. Staff, Food, Ambiance AMAZING! Stopped by the Roadhouse for a quick lunch last Saturday. We sat in the bar. It was a really busy day and extremely crowded in there, however we were served quickly and with a smile! The food was top notch for a last minute lunch. What a great place to stop and have an excellent meal. Relaxed and comfortable this true Northern California roadhouse eatery is like a step back in to old school great food with good service. Since I was solo I at the bar it is very comfortable environment with great people on both sides of it. My bartender was also my server and he was a true professional at his craft. I started with the soup of the day, a New England Clam chowder was absolutely spot on and even perhaps a bit better than the traditional version, robust hearty with nice bites of clam in every spoonful toasted croutons with nice smoked bacon it was outstanding. Next I went for the Wedge salad it was a bleu cheese lovers paradise, bits of avocado, micro greens and pancetta and loads of fresh bleu cheese with each bite, again another solid choice for my early evening dining experience. The market fish of the day was my choice for my entree and what an exceptional choice it was the grilled Seared Swordfish was like a finely prepared beef steak about 2" thick and cooked to near perfection. Tender succulent and juicy it literally melted in my mouth while eating it and the medley of seasonal squash and quinoa was a great compliment to my meal. The fish was as I said near perfection. All in all a great meal with true old school NorCal feel to it that feels more like a dinner with friends than eating at a restaurant. I guess that's part of why this landmark eatery has been on the map so long here. The best brick oven roasted food. Everything is alway delicious here. We have been going to this place for years and the Brick Chicken never fails and always taste deliciously consistent. The Beef Brisket was amazingly tender and smoky and the Wagyu cheeseburger was outstanding. The wait staff was a bit subpar and not that attentive on the afternoon of 6/19/22. They offered us bread, but forgot to bring it and wasn't brought to our table until we got our meal. The waiter blamed it on the busser, but if he had checked on us, he would have known. Have been sitting on this review, cant specifically say why, have eaten here 5 or so times past few years and while I want to love it, just keep getting this "meh" feeling when I reflect on this place. Most recently we went for my son's Birthday as his Mom loves Buckeye having previously lived nearby in Sausalito - we sat in the bar for dinner, which for me personally is a much better experience versus the dining room. There are only four or five tables in the bar, and though it gets busy its just more warm and welcoming than the main dining room. As others have mentioned it is white table cloth, and definitely not tank top and board shorts scene which is a good thing in an elevated casual establishment. Our waitress was good, professional and present to check regularly though oddly distant if that makes sense. Skirt steak was good, Old Fashioned was good, Son loved his steak and desert so theres that. We had previously eaten in the main dining room perhaps a year or so ago, much more formal and dare I say it, somewhat uptight. Each time the food was good, staff friendly, yet, maybe because its played up so much, maybe its the premium cost and hype for what I would consider a better than average experience, maybe it was desert missing the mark... or perhaps its the Marin "scene" aspect that I personally don't vibe with. I came to introduce my boyfriend to the seared ahi tuna salad and oysters Bingo (which never disappoint) on our way into the city to a show at the Opheum. We also had the savory croquettes (which were left with flavor to be desired) and the lamb ribletts which I found delicious. It has been around since i was a kid so that means a lot. I had the smoked duck which was out of this world in a huckleberry sauce. My nephew got the pork ribs and he loved them. We had reservations at 4:30pm. When we got here, the place was already very full, which was surprising because it was so early for dinner. The place was decked out in Christmas decorations and felt very festive. Service was pretty good- friendly without being intrusive. We got the oyster bingo and smoked chicken wings to start. I felt like the skirt steak was a little tough but the flavor was nicely smoky and had a bit of a spicy sauce on it. The beef brisket was soft and tender on a smooth bed of horseradish mashed potatoes. The baby back ribs had a lot of flavor, but after a few bites I thought it a bit salty. The maple leaf duck was ok, but it would've been nice if the skin was crispy and not so fatty. The dessert was butterscotch creme brûlée and a baked lemon pudding. Came for my Wedding Anniversary, though I really didn't feel like there was anything to celebrate with the state of infections, deaths, people hurting due to this COVID pandemic. You arrive at your designated time, park your own car (yep no valet~you forget all the layers that COVID knock out), There are markings all the way in to keep people spaced apart, although no one was there but us and the greeter at the kiosk. The doors were open at the front and all the way through the restaurant to the back. All the tables were spaced far out. Each table had their own heat lamp. Your table had a pump of Hand Sanitizer and everyone working there is in a mask. Once you are sitting at your table, it does feel strange to just take off your mask at your table. After ordering a cocktail! (Perfect ice breaker)~ then you realize you are in a sort of space bubble there at your lone table and your one server or 2 bringing you food & drinks. This situation we are in is just horrible and I can understand those who will NOT eat out whatsoever. We all will make the best choices for ourselves. What I do know is that we should not miss our celebrations, be it at home or going out. I felt quite safe and normal for once and it was a psychological break through for me so I was so glad that the Buckeye figured this out and same with my husband.
