I have always wanted to try this place as I get this craving every now and then for Chinese food and seafood. Luckily, my wife's childhood friend was in town and wanted to "milk a buffet." My wife and I seized this opportunity to try Buffet Star. The three of us arrived at Buffet Star at about 11:15 AM on a Saturday for lunch. We were not sure if they offered crab legs or any other seafood options at lunch, but on the weekends for the price of $15.99 per person, it is seafood ALL day! Talk about a deal! Seafood included crab legs, oysters, lobsters, mussels, and shrimp. Unfortunately, they do not really fill these very often and when they do there is always a swarm to the buffet line. The other options we thoroughly enjoyed were fried chicken wings, (fresh) papaya, and the soft serve ice cream. I believe my wife made six to seven trips to the buffet line and definitely milked the buffet. It's hard to get a refill of your drink if the server is no where in sight ! This place used to be great but, now, they are going downhill. I went there with a friend on November 1st. We arrived after 3 pm. They said it was still lunchtime. I went to get some sushi but there were small frying gnats on the sushi so, I used one of the utensils to kill one of the bugs. It landed on a piece of sushi. They looked at me real strange, came towards me and took the killing utensil. They did not replace the piece of sushi. Later, I went for seconds. I saw that they had crab out so I grabbed a plate and I went to wash my hands because the utensils were greasy. When I got back to the table they came and seized my plate of crab. I told them not to take them because I had just sneezed on them before going to wash my hands. They took the plate away. I asked them not to serve those crabs to unsuspecting people. Next, they put out signs to mark new food selections for the dinner and the crab was one of those selections. For the first time ever, I did not leave a tip. This place is not very clean, it has bugs and they leave the lunch time food out too long with bugs flying around it and they then let it serve for dinner. Also, the bathroom was dirty and there was no paper to dry your hands. People were coming out dripping and heading back to the buffet. **Danger- Caution- Alert*** I found a piece of metal in my shrimp. Be careful eating here!! The manager was made aware of the metal and said it was from the metal scrubbers in the kitchen. He said sorry about that and then walked away and then... this happened... I'll never return here again. After countless great experiences in the past, tonight changed my opinion of this place forever. The Manager caused a scene over an unpaid adult check upon leaving. Our table had 6 adults, a 1 year old and an 8 year old... But the check was rang up for 7 adults. After clearing it all up and he realized that he told my husband that the kids were free and that their staff had made a mistake, the manager got very angry and was shouting loudly about the unpaid check. This was unacceptable given that it was all his own mistake in not properly ringing up our check and failing to listen when my husband clearly told him he was paying for two adults, an 8 year old and a 1 year old. He did not listen and said kids are free later admitting that he thought the kids were babies and this is why he said kids are free. The venue served a variety of sushi and your usual Asian menu buffet. Having plenty of seats instead of adding "more" variety on their menu was what management concentrated on which was a downside. The dessert side is in need of a lot of love and attention. The set up of the area looked like it was almost forced in. I use to like going here. The price is good and the food is okay. But after tonight's experience, I hope they improve their customer service. My family and I got here an hour before closing (arrived at 9pm and they close at 10pm). Which gave us about an hour or more to eat. There was still a lot of people there and more people coming in. We got our food, went back for seconds/thirds. Still enjoying our food and it was about 9:30pm and the servers started cleaning up already and even putting the chairs away on the tables. I take my grandpa there to eat at least every other month. We have now gone there for years and enjoy it. We usually go during Sundays lunch time and it can get quite crowded because of people going there after church. They have a fried food, sushi and salad bar. There are noodles, clams, ribs, rice etc as well. You also have the ability to let the chef cook the raw ingredients infront of you.
