I was in LA for some kbeauty events and realized that it was Chobok (one of the three hottest days of the year) so I quickly looked up a restaurant to eat samgyetang at and came to this place. This restaurant specializes in samgyetang and is usually closed on sundays but opened their doors just for Chobok! The chicken was fall off the bone soft and tender and it was cooked to perfection. It has a lot herbs and the good stuff so it WILL make you sweat. Koreans eat this to prepare for the hot summer days ahead to prep their bodies to fight off the heat by eating sweat inducing meal like Samgyetang! I know their quality and ingredients are top tier because it actually made me sweat a lot. If I eat this at restaurants that don't specialize in samgyetang, I don't sweat. I really wish to go back and eat it. Maybe I will go for Malbok (last of the 3 hot days) since it's a Saturday!

How did I only just now come to this place! I usually don't really crave samgyetang but thank goodness my friend did because otherwise I might have never discovered this gem. I'm raving about this place because not only did I feel so healthy from this meal choice but the service was so kind. It feels like an authentic and cozy spot that I should definitely come to maybe at least once a month or so. There's parking, really well done Korean Sam gye tang, fantastic service, excellent side dishes, and refreshing hot tea (brewed from 10 different ingredients!!). Highly recommend.

This restaurant only prepares samgyetang, and they make it well. They served hot tea with the meal and a small plate of banchan. The restaurant is attached to a parking lot, so there is ample free parking available.

This tastes like home cooking! This is Chicken soup for the soul! A best seller just like the books back in day. If u kno u kno. I came here because i was feeling under the weather and this jus hit the spot! Served on a boiling korean mini pot/bowl. Is a whole mini chicken with herbs and rice inside. Its soo nutritious and filling and every bite just reminds me of home cooking. Usually you can taste the medicine in the broth with all the different herbs used in other resturaunts I have tried this dish before but here its cooked in perfection. The food is hearty and warms you up especially if you are not feeling well jus drink the soup. They even serve hot tea for free and they serve it with banchan which is refillable. Soo much in one bowl for $21 without tax and even had left overs to take home. There was a charge for take home container. Plenty of free parking since its in an outdoor plaza. The people were super nice and explained the menu. Not crowded during the weekday at night and pretty chill and quiet when my friend and i came.

TLDR: Tasty Samgyetang, attentive staff, and quiet environment. Amazing spot to fulfill your samgyetang cravings in a quiet environment. Leave feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. :) - - - - - - Samgyetangi s one of my favorite dishes, and I first had it in Korea. As a lover of ginseng and chicken broth, how could I turn this away? The sides here include a normal spread of sides; most tasted as expected, with no notables. At the center of attention were chicken gizzards, so if you're into that, you may be offered more :) For tea, they offer a blend of what I believe is goji berry and ginseng - refreshing and sweet. Their menu is quite a "no frills" petite size, and I had their Han Bang Samgyetang, which is a normal samgyetang with additional shitekae mushroom, goji berry, Angelia gigas, and Liquorice. For an additional $4, I'm not sure if I enjoyed it too much, though trying Liquorice for the first time was interesting. The dish came with a chicken stuffed with rice and sweet potato, too. Salt and pepper are also available to add to your taste preferences. The staff are very attentive, checking in often, and even offered to show me what Liquorice was when I had questions but never asked. With regards to the Hanbang Samgyetang, I felt that it had too much going on. Traditional ginseng and chicken stuffed with rice would be good enough. However, with the addition of all the other ingredients, the flavor profile tilted towards sweet - a tad too sweet. A dish that would have tasted great with a ginseng feature now had too much sugar. If I ever visit again, I'm going for the traditional version!

I was told that in life you need to do one thing well and keep at it until it's perfect. This place lives by this motto and never fails to be the best in chicken soup. The chicken is stuffed with sticky rice and it's very tender. The classic soup with ginseng is great but the one with golgi berries and shiitake mushroom is also amazing. Great service and very friendly owner. Love coming here on a cold cloudy day to warm up!

Don't skip on this place if you want a healing, nutritious meal. From the tea to the samgyetang to the attentive service and calm homey environment. Everything was great. The soup was rich flavorful with a whole chicken stuffed with typical fillings you would expect in this dish glutinous rice with ginseng root, garlic, jujubes, ginger, and gogi berries. You can really feel the nutrients filling up your body as you consume their food. The soup wasn't watery tasting you can truly taste the hours of dedicated cooking. Even the tea was very HEALING.

Great place for samgyetang. Food was great. There's plenty of parking in this large plaza. Service was fast and friendly.

Hearty samgyetang with tender chicken and a variety of herbs. This restaurant specializes in the traditional soup and offers several versions of the soup. Everything there is clean and sanitized regularly. The warm soup is soothing and satisfying especially in a cold winter night. Service is amicable and attentive. They make sure your tea and side dishes are refilled fast, and I always feel welcome there.

I have been missing samgyetang since our trip to Korea. Let me tell you, this is the best samgyetang I've had in the States. It tastes almost like the beloved samgyetang shop in Busan. So this shop specifically specializes in chicken ginseng soup so if you're looking for other appetizers and dishes, I suggest you go elsewhere. The restaurant is quite large with a private parking lot in front. They have a lot of large tables so this would be a great spot to take a bigger party. When we walked in, we were immediately greeted by the owner and they seated us promptly. They were so warm and friendly. BTS videos were running in the background which we enjoyed during our meal. I ordered the traditional #1 samgeytang and the first thing you notice is that it comes out PIPING hot. The metal pot keeps the soup warm but also takes a long time to cool down so be careful on your first few bites. I burned my tongue because I was so eager to devour it. The soup broth is herby, light, and more on the bland side.. that is until you add some salt and break down the chicken. That's when all the real flavors come out and blend seamlessly together. The chicken tears apart so effortlessly with just a spoon. You really don't need to use any muscles. The rice quickly becomes porridge and adds that nice starchy addition to the meal. The chicken meat was incredibly tender and soft. There are lots of small bones so do eat carefully. I also enjoyed the bits of sweet potato too. All in all, it was a fantastic dish especially for $20. Each order comes with a tray of small side dishes: raw carrots, jalapenos, onions, kimchi, some kind of chopped meat, radish, and spicy bean paste. The side dishes were very simple yet served as light palate cleansers. At the end of the meal, I laughed and joked that the best part of the meal was the tea. Well, half heartedly it was. The tea was so comforting and delicious. This was the perfect meal after a long rainy drive from the Bay Area. The food was so comforting and the service was so kind and welcoming. Thank you for your hospitality and we will see you next time we visit So Cal!

Perfect healthy and comforting soup for my cold. It helps with your cough, throat, immunity, etc etc We came on a Saturday night and appreciated their huge parking lot that is shared with the plaza. Found a spot right in front! We got to pick our seat and the food didn't take too long to come out. I liked the banchan plate, it was cute and unique. I also liked their herbal hot tea that was ginger and cinnamon (a combo I wouldn't have thought of but it was delicious)!! The soup was delish but it's a chore to pick out the chicken bones so be prepared! I felt they were friendly but not over-friendly like other ratings are saying.

What seemed like a deceptively simple bowl was one of the most delicious and flavorful meals I've had - I'll be thinking about my bowl for a long time. I got the plain kalgaksu, mainly because it included pork potstickers. The anchovy broth isn't fishy (which I was concerned about), it's deep and full in a way that's hard to describe. It penetrates the noodles and potatoes well. The broth is similar if not the same between most bowl types. The cold noodles were also delicious, which a couple of my friends ordered. Quite large portions, as just about everyone had to take some home. They also have bibimbap if you're craving a rice based meal instead. I can't wait to come back - maybe not on a Saturday night next time so I don't have to look so long for parking!

I really wanted authentic Korean food that was not kbbq and not tofu and this place delivered! This restaurant is in a small strip mall. The strip mall has other Korean food options. They have a valet parking system of sorts but we didn't pay, we self parked. The attendant told us we were fine. It was approx 9pm when we arrived and also a week night. I have no idea how much valet parking is here. We were a small party of two. Upon arrival, we were notified they were out of RICE. Um..what?? That's a good problem (for them to have) but not for consumers. I feel this really limited our options to just soup. I honestly didn't want soup but there wasn't much else we could order. The bowls were large and came out piping hot. It was a satisfying meal and not too heavy. The price point was on the pricey side. Our waiter told us business has not been the same post covid. Some dishes are between $40-$60. I asked for a soup and they were able to make it less spicy. My friend got a soup with dumplings in it. He put a good amount of soy sauce to give the broth some life. Also, the banchan is on point. We asked for a refill and devoured the second portions. If you wanna impress friends with Korean food, bring them here! Its a casual place.

If you're searching for some of the city's best pork, then those in the know will bring up Ham Ji Park. For 2 decades, generous platters of pork ribs and pork neck stew decked every table. Now, our Korean friends lament the loss of their favorite pork joint in the city. The Koreatown proper location is located in the Royal Plaza mini-mall, just a few blocks off bustling Wilshire. Discounted parking is available in a lot across the street from the Chevron gas station. From the street, the entrance is flanked by potted plants and an enclosed street-ery. Inside, stainless steel chairs are pressed up against wooden tables, each outfitted with a metal grill. Oppressive fluorescent lighting shines down on the stone grey walls, which are left undecorated apart from a few flatscreens. Multi-lingual chatter blends with the sizzle of platters. I visited with some friends for a weeknight dinner, and about half of the tables were occupied. We shared a spread of grilled platters and sizzling soups. The meal began with a carafe of barley tea and a mostly standard spread of banchan. Across our food, the best dish was the signature Charbroiled Pork Spare Rib. The ribs were flavorful without feeling gamey, and the meat was complemented by sweet caramelized onions. The pork ribs handily outdid the good-not-great Charbroiled Beef Short Rib. Lastly, the Milt and Cod Rose with Vegetables stew was fishy and briny, appropriately flavored for the Korean palate. The service was appropriately attentive, although I would've appreciated more intentional refills of our banchan ramikens. The rib plates cost upward of $35 each, while the soup was just under $30. The portions were hearty; a single entree platter could reasonably feed 2 moderately hungry bellies. It's a shame to hear that Ham Ji Park has closed; I'm kicking myself for not trying their pork neck stew earlier.
