This was our first time at Bulla and it was wonderful. We arrived in time for happy hour and ordered a bottle of rioja wine. For our food we decided to do all tapas. We ordered the chef's board, the tomato bread (can't remember what it is called), grilled shrimp and the ham croquettes. The only thing we didn't like was the ham croquettes, we both said it just tasted like fried cheese (didn't taste any ham). The tomato bread is amazing. Excellent for special occasions, night out with the girls or a cute date night. I brought my friend here to celebrate her birthday and I'm glad I did! I made a reservation for 6pm but was running late due to parking (Legacy shops are a nightmare). Called in and they said they could hold my table for up to 20 minutes! We arrived and were greeted warmly by the hosts and was brought to our corner booth. The menu was extensive with appetizers, small tapas and large plates. We got in during happy hour (From 5-7pm every day!) and started off with the Boujie Palmer at $6. It's a vodka based, oolong peach tea with lemon and lavender syrup. HIGHLY recommended! I'm definitely coming back here just to try this cocktail again! Our waitress, Celimar was very attentive and friendly and helped explain to us how tapas usually works and gave us great recommendations to fit our appetite. We started with the Tuna Tartar and Montaditos. Tuna Tartar ($14) - Ahi tuna, mango, avocado and soy sesame vinaigrette Fresh and wonderfully seasoned! I'd recommend trying this out if you're a fan of raw fish and want to start with something lighter. Montaditos ($12) - brisket, tomato marmalade, guindilla pepper, tetilla cheese You get four bite size brisket on top of a french bread, covered with the marmalade, pepper and cheese. I didn't find this one to be very unique but to each their own. We then ordered the ceviche de Jalapeno and the Arroz Caldoso which definitely hit the spot! Ceviche de Jalapeño ($12) - shrimp, fish, roasted jalapeño, fresh lime and orange, plantain chips Very refreshing and felt like a trip to a tropical island in my mouth! The plantain chips were crisp and paired well with the ceviche. I'd order this again in a heartbeat. Arroz Caldoso ($25) - seafood, chicken, red sofrito, saffron HUGE portion, perfect for sharing! This dish is basically a soupier paella and great for a chilly December night. There's plenty of clams, shrimp and squid to be filling for 2-3 people. All in all, a great experience at Bulla. A friend and I met up for Sunday brunch. I love the concept of tapas and sharing small plates. The inside was clean and the ambiance was laid back. Our waiter Tyler was friendly and pleasant. It was nice the manager came around to check on us. Always a great personal touch. The food was interesting. My favorite was the salmon appetizer. Smoked salmon, cream cheese and truffle honey was a great combination. This was so delicious and yummy. The potatoes grew on me and I like the sauce on top of them. Now the ham croquettes were missing ham. All I tasted was cheese in every bite. The fig jelly was nice, but I was not impressed overall on this appetizer. For my entree I tried a burger. The components on the burger were great. I did ask for no pink and received pink. I would have sent it back, but I made do and ate around it. The burger was ok overall. The caramelized onions helped. Overall I had a decent experience. The white Sangria is worth an honorable mention. The strawberries, blueberries and blackberries were a great bonus. It grew on me and was refreshing. We have a few fav restaurants we rotate, but occasionally we look for something new, and I came upon this gem. First... bring your appetite. You will want to try everything. And everything is pretty amazing. Food is unique and delicious. Service was impeccable. Amanda was fun and kind and high energy. Amanda also spaced out the tapas to make for a better experience. She checked on us at a perfect timing. Enough that we never waited for anything but not so frequently that we couldn't have a convo. Now let's talk about some of the dishes. We started with the chefs board - delicious- to get us started with my red sangria (amazing, and I should've just ordered a pitcher) and the hubs with the Bulla Mile that he loved. After that was the gazpacho (really rich and delicious) and the ceviche (one of the highlights of our meal... especially with the plantain chips). Next up was the meatballs and chorizo filled dates... the dates were really stellar, especially the sauce. Even the dressed arugula with it was really good. Next up (and really, we could've stopped before this but... we couldn't help ourselves) - the grilled steak with mushroom foam (that chimichurri!) and the brisket on bruschetta (so well balanced). By this point, we were stuffed but I never deny dessert. The coconut flan was really lovely and the passion fruit sorbet with it was amazing and refreshing. I've ordered food from this place to go in the past but finally got to dine in during the holidays here a couple weeks ago. If you sit at the bar, you are able to do both happy hour drinks and appetizers - we ended up sitting in the dining room area and were served just the happy hour drink specials FYI. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal and our service was great. We picked a variety of appetizers and a shared board and everything came out properly. I personally did not like the stuffed dates much. On a Sunday, my wife ordered a hamburger and fry's. When the food came to the table they did not bring the French fry's. Later we realized they shorted us. Very poor service the manager made NO attempt to contact us, though we gave them all the necessary information. Very poor customer service! We will not return and we recommend that you do the same, the restaurants attitude shows they just DO NOT care. We will not return nor will our son's family. The potatoes in Mayo and hot sauce is very tasty but is a good tapas to share. The paella looks great and has good portions of seafood but taste ok. I think some spice is missing. The service is great, it's short staffed but our waiter came back more than twice to refill water and take plates away. He also replaced our blueberry pancakes because it was burnt and tasted bitter. I've enjoyed Bulla since they opened at Legacy West, but I'm disappointed to see they've started using cheap oil mixed with soybean oil. Considering the upscale setting of Legacy West, I expected healthier options. Soybean oil is cheap and can trigger many allergies. This change affects my dining choice, and I hope they reconsider using oils that don't contain soy for their cooking because they will lose a big group of people that go there on regular basis. read more

Came here for a dinner on a Friday night. We did make reservations as they were a little busy. It took about 15 min to seat us. For food I had the patatas bravas and the grilled steak small plate. Both were delicious. Next time I would like to try the paella. Our waitress did tell us as soon as we sat down that they take 30-40 min to make so that was good to know. Overall ambiance, service and food was good. Only negative was that in the area we were seated at it was so hot. Bulla has been on my list for ages and finally I had a free day to check it out!! I made my way to the bar which quickly got quite busy but the servers were very engaging and friendly. I skimmed their vino list and settled upon a white blend which was tasty. I also love how they have a 2 for $15 combo on the tapas dishes...they have all of your traditional faves as well as yummy dishes. I noticed the ladies next to me ordered a bunch of different dishes which all of them looked appetizing. I noticed the salmon carpaccio and ended up ordering that as well as the truffle carbonara with the poached egg on top. WOW. I literally would just order that dish on its own without anything else. Very fulfilling and appetizing. The wine list honestly is quite pricey so it is better suited for a date night but the options they do have really do compliment the dishes. The bar is super cozy with interesting patrons so lots to look at and you can get your people watch on! I had high hopes for this place, especially based on the high amount of 5 star reviews. Sadly that wasnt the case. More like a hit and miss experience, like the first time I tried archery. I took basic notes cause I was quite engaged with the company I had. Pixto pork loin - good but could have been better if it was a little more tender. They were a bit on the dry side. Fried eggplant - a surprisingly delightful dish that still doesn't do eggplant texture justice, but the flavors bring me back for more. Ham croquetta - disappointing as it mostly felt like a mushy ball of starch than ham and cheese. Gaspacho - i wish it had more chunky texture, but otherwise, felt like typical tomato soup. Flatbread - ok, but pretty basic. Everything ingredient wise did not feel house made or fresh. Arepitas - great stuff here. Small enough to be considered tapas, yet still substantial in how you feel satiated. Plus the meat they use was well marinated and moist throughout. Tuna tartare with wonton - fantastic choice, as the tuna was fresh, the presentation was beautiful, and the wontons were a greasy treat. Garlic shrimp - nothing special as it felt like frozen shrimp from a bag being cooked in a garlic sauce that didn't have much of a punch or flavor. The majority of the flavor comes from the straight butter that's melted into the dish. Am I ordering the wrong things? Some of the items were great, but half my meal was underwhelming, especially with the prices they chage. Im not opposed to coming back and specifically ordering the paella, but compared to si tapas, this place doesnt hold a candle. More for the ambience than for the food in my opinion. read more

With the tiny bites, try to choose combination of cold and hot dishes to compliment the flavors. Min Must have: Jalapeño cerviche, octopus salad....and the rest , can't really go wrong. The desserts were actually disappointing! The Flan looks great but the taste didn't quite match it...the Churros were meh..guess you can't compare to a street vendor Churros in MX! My parents went here just recently for the first time and were asked if it was their first time, they answered yes. The couples around them were asked the same and they were brought free appetizers. My parents were not. They noticed but were hopeful their entree would be good, unfortunately they ordered the paella, being Spaniards, they heard this would be the place to go for Spanish food but the paella was not good. They did not use saffron in it which is a huge no-no. It also did not contain chorizo, peas, or chicken. They also did not offer bread with butter. Have been wanting to go here for a while. I'll preface this review with stating I've had the pleasure of enjoying tapas on multiple occasions in Barcelona and Madrid. While Bulla attempts to re-create this, they need help in pushing the slow, one item at a time, pace it. Also the food needs to be organized or help in what order it's brought (light, medium, heavy) out. It's like an orchestra. Take a hint from Rye. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the bacon wrapped figs. The octopus was chewy, but seasoned nicely. I'm used to nice big soft rings. The brisket bruschetta was tasty, but bread was way too thick. Ham crochet only stood out with the jam. I'm sure there are other good things on the menu. I would definitely recommend going during happy hour 4-7, which I believe only includes drinks. read more

Normally, I start with the good, but in this case the bad explains the goodness of the good. My daughter and I went in about 3:30. The place was nearly empty. Not an indictment on the restaurants food; it was between meals. What was interesting was all of the tables were set and the place was nearly empty, and the hostess still took a while seating us saying, "I'm going to get your table ready." What??? She could have said, "Eeny, meeny, miny, moe" and sat us anywhere. Okay so she finally seats us and no one come to help us for what I estimate to be 10 minutes. We could see 5 servers and a manager, but no one comes until Jas. And now the good stuff. Our server Jas came to see if someone had been over to take our order. She noticed we had been sitting for a while. When she learned that no one had, Jas went into Super Server mode. She had a great personality, took ownership of the oversight, and gave us great service. Love Jas. She made great recommendations and even told the manager about the initial poor customer service. When coming here, ask for Jas. The food was great. It was tapas style, meaning small plates. We had the garlic grilled shrimp, tuna tartar,montaditos, ham croquettes, and plantain chips.
