This was a memorable experience, as it should be. We were having a celebration and appreciated the excellent service as well as the steaks and sides. My daughter wanted a baked potato. something not on the menu. The waiter offered to acommodate her without hesitation. Hint: If you are not familiar with upscale steakhouses, expect tp pay $100 per person minimum. With appetizers, drinks and deserts, it will be much more. We finished at about $130 each. If you're a meat lover, and you wanna celebrate big, then this is the place to go! They are famous for their steaks, but the seafoods are amazing too! The lobster bisque was the best I ever had! Very classy dining room with an old-fashioned charm. For a larger parties, you could ask for a private room and they will assign a room hostess to take care of everything for you. Our hostess Julie was wonderful. The Kona coffee crusted steak had a great aroma and was very tasty. We tasted a variety of their meats, including lamb lollipops, but I think their filet mignon is the best. Nice dessert menu as well. Our hostess recommended their crème brûlée topped cheesecake, however, I think the crème brûlée was just a very thin crust on top of the cake. Still one of the best steaks and service in town. Always cooked right and sides are top notch. We came in for the Generous Pour and I dislike how they keep changing the rules around what you get. First time around years back you could pick which wine you want and just get as much as you want. Then it was finish one and you get the next. Now it comes in stages with the plates. I was not impressed overall. I am going to visit another location to compare. I want to give it another chance. I need to see the wow factor. I tried the Garlic Shrimp no garlic flavor. The shrimp were cooked well and presentation was great. Oysters Casino looked great, but fell short. They were cold and I know they are broiled. It was as if they were left sitting before they were brought out to me. Very lackluster and blah. Cocktails were AMAZING. I definitely will go back for drinks. I just love coming here on Christmas Eve. The food is always delicious and reliable and the service is attentive and friendly. I usually stick to the same items I loved but this time I decided to try a different dessert. Their warm apple tart is so so good. It's a mix between a cake and pie. Absolutely loved it. This review is for the capital hours - capital grille happy hour. It's M-F 3-6pm. After arriving there was a private event in the bar/lounge area so we were seated in the dining area. Our waiter was pleasant and attentive. The service was good. I decided to try the Peach Bourbon Smash cocktail and Cast Iron Garlic Shrimp for food. The Peach Bourbon Smash cocktail was strong and tasty. It was also reasonably priced at $10. I'd definitely go back to get this cocktail or try another one, maybe the old fashioned. The Cast Iron Garlic Shrimp was ok. It really was seasoned well and overall lacked flavor. So for the happy hour at Capital Grille, I'd suggest you skip the food and enjoy the cocktails. read more

My husband and I have come here twice for our anniversary, skipping a year in between. Both times, we had fabulous customer service and incredible food. I would love to name a particular server who stood out, but every worker we've interacted with has been great. The vibe is really cool - think dark academia - though can be a little dark when the sun sets. The lobster mac n cheese and balsamic steak are delicious (I lowkey dream of them lol). Bleh. Capital Grille has gone down over the years. At least here in Dallas. Both the Uptown and Plano locations are sadly not worth coming anymore. What used to be one of the best steakhouses has turned into a corporate chain let down with everything tasting and feeling like the lower quality of standards has been replaced from what used to impress us many years ago. We used to make an effort to visit Capital Grille in different cities when we traveled, but now, there is so much competition that really pushes them out of any high caliber rankings. The steaks were mediocre at best, the apps and sides were miserable and the service was a bit weak. The decor feels outdated and the dingy carpeted floors didn't help at all. The restrooms were also out of soap and paper towels. Sad. Won't be visiting again. read more

Our waiter (gosh I forgot his name) was incredible- such a sweet guy with 3 girls and a boy.. so attentive, so kind. The food, obviously not his fault, was for the most part not good. The oysters were missing the little fork that you use to put the toppings on (saying this to help restaurant). The caramelized onion dip tasted like sour cream, very one-note, was expecting something more where you could actually see the caramelized onions themselves or something more complex, for the price. The calamari we could tell was frozen. The corn we ordered had huge chunks of white onions in it and was not good. Seems like it was canned. The seabass that I ordered was so overcooked and chewy, it was inedible. Brussels were ok but lots of them were still whole and just boring. The porcini and balsamic peppercorn crusted ribeye however was INCREDIBLE!! Overall, if you're paying this much for a meal, you don't want previously frozen calamari. You want fresh. His service made the celebration even more enjoyable, and we would absolutely request him again on our next visit. The stand outs from our menu included: Lobster and Crab Cakes: wow, these were just delicious with chunks of lobster and crab. They disappeared quickly! Pan-Fried Calamari with Hot Cherry Peppers: also a winner, perfectly fried with a light, crispy batter. Loved the heat from the cherry peppers. These were good leftovers heated up in the oven. Wedge with Bleu Cheese and Smoked Bacon: their bleu cheese dressing is creamy and rich. Ohhh so good. Also loved the texture and smokey flavor of the bacon chunks. Pan-Seared Sea Bass with Shiitake Mushrooms, Asparagus and Miso Butter: this was magic, simply magic. Porcini Rubbed Bone in Ribeye with 15 year Balsamic: nice crust, incredible flavor and tender. I was so disappointed last night. The restaurant is in dire need of some updates (carpet, paint, etc.) but that wasn't the issue. The drinks at the bar and the service was great as always. It all started when an older male staff members was overly "friendly" with a female staff member. It was not busy and not crowded yet he was constantly hugging and touching her and in her space. We didn't think much of it at first until seeing the complete cringe and disdain in her expression. My wife ask if she was okay and felt safe. She said she would be okay and that was just how things were there. My wife decided to let the manger (Paul) know about the situation. He completely failed in his response. An appropriate response could have been "Thank you for bringing this to my attention and I will be sure to address". Instead he said that couldn't happen because he knew the guy and he was married. Clearly no married man has ever abused his power before! Even after explaining further Paul doubled down with the denial. I'm not even saying the male staff's actions were intentional, but they were problematic nonetheless. Paul's inaction is setting (or continuing) a dangerous precedent that is harmful to the restaurant as it relates to staff, customers, and the Capital Grille brand.
