definitely a whole in the wall place in my opinion since i could easily pass by and not ever see this place but it was overall good. their service was better than most places in the area and very friendly! the food was good for the most part and their bun bo hue in particular is more flavorful than other places around so i recommend trying this place out if you're interested in trying this dish! but i don't think i would recommend this place during the weekend considering how small this place is. Their Bun Bo Hue is hit or miss. Sometimes the soup is flavorful, savory and delicious... and sometimes the soup is bland and essentially flavorless. I wouldn't really recommend getting any of their other items since their Bun Bo Hue is what they're known for, so you're better off getting any other dish at another signature location. read more

Don't expect to come here for an enlightening dining experience. You are in the heart of Westminster so you'll get less than mediocre service, no credit card payments, and a strong whiff of something foreign (in this case, mum - shrimp paste yum!). Five stars for their dank Banh beo and their savory bun bo hue that truly hits the spot on a cold and rainy day! The bun bo hue broth is flavorful and the veggies are fresh! I've been coming here a few times a month for the past year now. Other places made me like bun bo hue, but Bun Bo Way made me absolutely fall in love with it. Sometimes I crave it on Thursdays, when this shop is closed, and on those days I take the chance to try out new places. Every single time, I am left disappointed, but then I realize that honestly it's just because Bun Bo Way is in a league of its own. Taste is (to a certain point) subjective but I root for this place like someone roots for their favorite sports team because their broth is SO good (rich/flavorful and has depth, not just salt/msg) and consistent; the texture & taste of their huyet/blood cubes is perfection; and I haven't been able to find their noodles anywhere else (it's not cooked from packages like other places). Their broth never leaves me with a headache or thirsting for water like other places do. If I really had to think of any negatives, it would be that in the past year the portions of my broth have become a bit smaller than before. Recent rain had me craving BBH like crazy. I was planning to stop by my usual place but recently the reviews for that place has not been so good. So I decided to try this one! I placed a to go order through the phone. They picked up promptly and it was easy to order. When I arrived(~15min) my meal was waiting for me at the counter. I paid and left. I ordered a large BBH with just the meat and pork blood cubes (my fave). The broth was vibrant and flavorful. Honestly, I think this is the best BBH I've had from a restaurant, especially with it being to go and I probably ate it about 45min after it was prepared. I can't rate the spiciness because my tolerance is pretty high but they do give you satay if you would like it spicier. My favorite thing about this place is that I can order the BBH without the pork bone because I usually dont eat it and it's a waste. The staff was really friendly in my short encounter with them and it was pretty cheap, my large bowl was $9 even. I would love to come back here to dine in and see how it is :^) read more

My friend took me here since she wanted to eat bun bo hue. Please be careful when parking your car here, if I were you I would park several blocks away and walk instead of parking my car in this lot. My coworker brought me an order of banh beo to-go for lunch. The wafting smell of fried shallots, green onions, and freshly ground shrimp made my mouth water. Nom, nom, nom...I was surprised the box made it back in one piece since I might have dug into it well before. It was probably a good thing that I didn't go pick it up then. Normally I would order the banh beo chen, which comes in the saucers that they steam the cakes in, but seeing as they probably would want the saucers back, I just ordered the regular banh beo. But there it was, in all its delicious glory. Thin circles of rice cakes smothered with shrimp, onions, and shallots. All it needed was some fish sauce with fresh spicy chilis to go with it. Luckily, they pack that in the box as well. Word to the wise, be careful while transporting it since fish sauce will stick up your car if you spill it on the upholstery. Yum! It was worth the wait. I have been a loyal customer of Bun Bo Hue So 1 for many many years. When the flavor is good, it is VERY GOOD, but they suffer from inconsistencies. Some days the Bun Bo Hue (BBH) is good, some days it's a bit bland, but I've still come back because they provide good service, reasonable price and flavor. However, this past weekend was the final straw and we will no longer be coming here. There are just TOO many options to be served the portions that they serve. I bought some take-out BBH for my mom and she doesn't eat the pork blood or the pork hock, She only eats the meat and cha. When we came home, there were only 3 slices of meat and 1 small roll of cha (about thumb sized) cut into 2. Additionally, the bean sprouts and vegetables that came with the Togo were so small in portion. It is not like the Togo price is cheaper yet we are given so much less. This is just a ripoff. Do yourself a favor and go to the dozens of other Hue places to get your BBH with a good portion. read more

Unfortunately, very mediocre. I did not have a great experience here. Service was slow and portions are small, which is why prices are very reasonable. I had bun bo hue and che ba mau. The bun bo hue had no spice and I had to add pepper on the side which altered the flavor of the broth (which seemed a little too sweet). In addition, I was disappointed that the cha was just cha luo and not a special house made one that is normally done at restaurants like this. I was also disappointed at the very small portion of side vegetables and the consistency of the noodles (they were varying short sizes and hard rather than chewy). Since the small bowl didn't leave us full, we all tried Che ba mau (tri-color dessert). Again, while prices were reasonable and the flavor was good, the description stayed true to form and there were only 3 types of beans in the dessert (usually, there are other items like jello in there). While on vacation, I stopped by here to try the BBH. I'm originally from San Jose which is known for its vietnamese food so maybe that's why I didn't like the taste of this BBH as much. The broth is alright. Not fit for my taste personally. The noodles are a bit overdone, kind of really squishy. I wouldn't say I recommend this place but I also don't discourage coming here if you're craving some BBH. Since I'm not a local around here, it doesn't fit my personal taste but it might for you. My Vietnamese friend took me here to try banh beo for the first time ever, and I loveee it! For non-Viet people who are as confused as I was, it's an appetizer that comes with 9, yes NINE, small dishes of thin rice crepe, topped with minced shrimp and other yummy goodness. You drizzle a little chili sauce on top, scoop it out, and eat it in 1-2 bites. I usually can't handle spicy, but this sauce is a must. Pros: Strong broth, could've been a bit spicier, with soft noodles Cons: Not enough meat and the meat that they did give was pretty chewy, service is quite slow (we had to wait a good while for our food to come out even though it's already made in the back), they gave a dinky sized plate of veggies. My go to place for bun bo hue for two main reasons: their thick homemade noodles and their homemade chili paste. No other bun bo hue place serves this kind of noodle which are thicker and more al dente than the usual noodles, I love that. This is how authentic bun bo hue noodles are supposed to be, not the nasty soft noodles other places tend to serve. And their chili paste is to die for, one little spoon of this can have have you screaming and breathing fire...seriously. This is hardcore chili and it makes the otherwise bland broth into something spectacular. Be prepared to have a runny nose. What makes it even more awesome is that you can buy a jar of the chili paste for a lil over 5 bucks. Its worth it, I have one in my fridge and it tastes good with anything, especially soups. There are definitely other places that have way better broth, meat, and veggies. But I'm a noodle fanatic, so I always come back here for the noodles. As for drinks, their Nhan Nhuc - longan drink is made daily, its refreshing and not too sickly sweet like some places are. It balances out the spiciness :) read more

I also was on the search for BBH and i messaged one of my OC friends to ask where i should go to get some. She said her mom really liked this place so i had to check it out. The restaurant is completely a mom and pop place. I got the BBH here and I have to resonate the same stuff in some of the other reviews on here. The broth flavor is a bit lacking, the meat portions aren't generous, the veggie plate is skimpy BUT you're paying about 25% less than the other bbh places. There were still people coming in when i sat down and they've been around for awhile so maybe there is something with them that i'm missing. The Banh Beo tiny plates were good though. Came here to try this place for lunch because of a friends suggestion. I ordered the Bun no hue with beef, tendon and pork sausages. When it came out, I could already tell by the color that it wasn't going to be flavorful enough. It did not have the rich dark red broth that gives it that flavor. It was really bland that I had to add a ton of chili sauce and fish sauce to make it a little bit more edible. I feel like there wasn't a lot of meat in there either. There are definitely better Bun Bo Hue places in bolsa, so I wouldn't really recommend coming to this one. read more

This place has been here since forever so says my aunt. One of the first restaurants in the Vietnamese area and whatever they are doing it's working. The moment you pull up to the parking and start walking to the restaurant you can smell the shrimp paste which is when you know it's authentic in taste. The beef is cooked to perfection.
