This is one of the best vietnamese food I've found up here in the valley (I've Viet and originally moved from OC). The banh mi special sandwhich is really good and is a nice big portion. The bun bo hue is also really good too. I like it b/c the spicy chili is on the side so you can adjust the spicy level (I can't tolerate spicy well). I love the small tiny rice paper egg rolls. Bo kho is also really good too. Overall, you get good, basic viet food at a decent price in a nice clean place. The owner and her sister are also super nice. Service is great. This is my go to place when I'm hungry or too tired to cook dinner. If people are interested in trying out vietnamese food for the first time, this place is a good one to try out first. read more

The sandwiches are tiny and unauthentic. The sauce that came with the tofu vermicelli was basically soy sauce. One pro was the tofu and that was probably not made in house. Not recommended. read more

Bun Me is one of my favorite places to grab a bite to eat. All of their ingredients are always so fresh tasting. My go-to is the steak bun me, but I've also tried pork and chicken which are just as delicious! My friend LOVES the chicken pho! Everything here is worth the try. read more

This really is my go to Vietnamese restaurant. I go here at least once a week because I am in LOVE with with their Bahn Mi Deli Special with Char Siu! Watch out for the jalapeños, I didn't know my first time and my tongue was paralyzed for a few hours. The teas are exceptionally great, and they have wonderful service. Food just ok, BUT- I couldn't believe how HORRIBLE the service was. I've dropped by a couple times for an ice tea & bun mei and it's ok. -not the best, not the worst. It is a little expensive and smaller compared to other places. All and all, I thought it was alright in a crunch until last week. I ordered a Thai ice tea with boba. The tea was DISGUSTING. You know when they over steep the tea and it dries out your tongue, It's almost tanic like wine. Anyway, this tea was obviously gross. I've had it there before and it didn't taste anything like that. I knew something was off. It was old or just not well made that particular day. I asked if they had another batch. The cashier said no. So I asked if I could trade it for a green tea instead - I was literally one sip in- and she said sure. Then up walks a second clerk who said, "Oh we don't do that. We don't take things back. We can give you a 20% discount on a green tea." The original cashier looked at the ground embarrassed. WTF? Are you kidding? I'm going to pour out a full glass of tea and pay you for another drink? This is tea we're talking about, not a rum and coke! I will NEVER go back there. And I don't let my other CSUN friends go there anymore.They lost paying customers over 12 oz. of water and a splash of milk. I was shocked. Worst customer service ever! read more

4.5 stars I don't have banh mi's often... actually I NEVER have them. But after surfing through Yelp and trying to find decently rated places that were also light on the wallet, we came across Bun Me! What a delight and it was even better that it was down the street from us. This place is cheap, the service was literally A-MAZING, the food was fresh, crunchy, and packed full of meat + vegetables. After reading different reviews of this place and complaints by people that the menu wasn't extensive enough, I'd have to disagree. It's true that most banh mi places have a lot more items on the menu, I think the menu was great! There's specials on the wall, which I'm sure they change every day, and there's lots of different drinks on the menu (AND boba!). I had the pork banh mi (it came with shrimp chips which were awesome), and it was packed with meat and vegetables. It was delicious! Joe had the rib eye steak banh mi, which was just as good (and the cashier told us that it was one of the most popular items..I can see why). Both of our banh mi's came out piping hot and fresh, which is a major plus. We also ordered a side of spicy ginger hot wings, which is only for a limited time. I know I keep repeating the word, "delicious" but I have to say it again. The wings were perfectly spiced and the ginger sauce made it way better. The place is very clean, and there's a decent amount of room for seating. The only reason why we couldn't give this place a full 5 stars is due to the fact that, and although she was absolutely great in helping us decide what to order and giving us suggestions, our cashier/server may have just been a teensy bit too "helpful". It felt just a bit too much, although it was appreciated..she came to ask us how we were doing and kind of watched us which was a tiny bit uncomfortable. One of my favorite places to eat until recently. Unfortunately I had to experience an unappetizing experience here. I ordered summer spring rolls and the young lady that was taking my order at the register was wearing gloves. After she was done taking my order she handled my money, the register and the money in the register. She then went back to the kitchen. Using the same gloves she used to handle dirty money and the register, she made my summer rolls! I lost my appetite. This place was okay. The vermicelli was a rather small portion for the price, not much meat. The banh mi (my bf got the deli special) was pretty good, but also small. They also got my order wrong so we had to wait a bit longer, but they gave us a free egg roll so I didn't factor that into my rating. I love their pho. The portion is decent. I say this because there are other pho places in the area such as pho22 that offer a much larger bowl for like $2 more than you would pay here for a regular bowl. But if we're talking quality over quantity, i think you would like their bowl. read more

It has been 3 years since my last review here, and still this is the place to eat. It's not a far walk from CSUN and for me I carpool to csun. So i have no actual transportation to get banh mi. There is another good local spot, but this caters to the students here at csun. My favorite thing to order is the boba milk tea. Wish they had a bigger cup like 32 oz? (hint.. hint) But I enjoy eating here when I can. It's best to eat at here since they have enough tables to sit at. The selection of banh mi here is limited, but the taste is great. I would recommend for any green horn or newbie to get the lemon-grass chicken bun-me. It's a favorite amongst anyone I have brought here to. I have brought my study groups, my friends, my family and they've all enjoyed the wonderful flavor. I even notice some CSUN clubs like FASA (filpino-american-student-association) to eat here when they have board meetings and etc. This is a hidden gem near csun and I hope they remain open! Now one thing that I am kind of disappointed is the flan. their new recipe which seems to sell out better than the last one is not my favorite anymore. I loved their original and 1st flan recipe. i like this place! its super cozy, tiny family run restaurant. a bit hard to find a seat during busy times, but that has never bothered me much. i always rate restaurants based on their cost/taste ratio. here the food is seriously good for the asking price! i have tried their pho( ~$6) and imo the spicy pho is best compared to rest. their chicken sandwich (~$4-5) is also great and can't beat their yelp coupon for boba thai tea. for me its a 5 star! read more

Food is ok, I had one of the viet sandwiches and think they really should put more meat in it. Overall flavor is ok, not authentic enough. I guess the price is ok considering its located in the valley. If you go to Chinatown, a viet sandwich is around $2.50. The place is really small but it seems like they have a huge kitchen in the back that is only used for storage. Service is ok/friendly. Other than that, i might suggest you should also try the Viet Sandwich Express on Sherman Way, i think it is better than this place. read more

Love their banh mi sandwiches. I've tried their steak, pork and chicken, but my favorite has to be the steak. It's so juicy and tasty not as dry as the pork and chicken can be. Also you must try their boba smoothies they are delicious specially the avocado boba. I haven't tried their Ph, but according to other reviews it's just as tasty as their bahn mi. Don't get discouraged by their tiny restaurant because they sure know how to pack a lot of flavor on their food. Highly recommend it!! read more

Yummy! So good. I tried the veggie sandwich and watermelon slushy. Both fresh and delicious. The veggie sandwich was a mix fresh veggies, tofu and spices. The bread was like a bilio and it was great. This place is the best, the food is made with such precision that the taste is equally as good if not better every time I eat there.
