If you have all the time in the world!! Then this is your place!! Lol My experience at this place was a really bad. I was really looking forward to eat at this place , but this was a total fail!! To begin with, my husband had to run a block or so to get cash out of the nearest ATM cause they only accept cash!! The good thing is that they had a lot of empty tables so we were seated right away. We were seated at 11:15 am and soon after were given water and coffee. ...I was like excellent! But like all good things, that moment didn't last long because we never saw our waitress until much, much later. Waiting for our food to arrive was getting ridiculously long. How long does it take to whip out chilaquiles, chorizo and eggs and a waffle? So we waited and waited and waited and nothing!! While we waited for our food to arrive, we obviously drank our coffee, and getting a coffee refill was another challenge, it took like 15 - 20 minutes!!!! we keep asking and asking for coffee to no avail. I don't know why it took so long since the place was not busy at all!! I guess they are trying to save on coffee!! We waited for more than 45 minutes to get our food but it never arrived, so we got up and left!! Yes I did! Why do we feel that we have to stay when the service is terrible!! Since I can't rate the food because I never tasted it. from what I saw, the food looked processed. Meaning the beans appeared to be from a can etc. The meat dishes looked over cooked. I don't know, it didn't look appealing Another downer is that is the cash only business. The place looks dirty because all of the tchotchke that they have on the walls. First time coming here after driving by it nearly 3-5 times a week. I was skeptical about the food here from previous posts. Ordered the Bun N Burger special Omelette. Sautéed chunks of steak, green bell peppers, diced white onion, melted cheddar cheese with guacamole on top of the omelette with homestyle potatoes and toast. When my food arrived i was impressed. They are not stingy at all with the portion. I swear the omelette was literally packed with chunks of steak. The steak was real good and surprised how tender the meat was. Only part id change are the onions, possibly grilling the onions would make the dish so much better. The homestyle potatoes were good and the guacamole was a bit runny but still delicious. They have a small parking lot on the rear, as well as street parking. Price was decent, but i like it because it is literally minutes away from my house. Arrived and seated around 9:00am and once we left around 9:45am more people were starting to arrive. Most people seated around us were eating the Mexican plates and they looked delicious. My husband has been coming here for over 20 years and loved it. Me, on the other hand, can take it or leave it) He went recently and asked for a refill on his soda. The lady (the older one) snatched the bill away, came back with the soda and an updated bill. My husband was confused that they charged for a soda refill and asked the woman. She rudely told him that it says it right on the menu. He said he didn't want the refill then and she said "Nope, you gotta have it now." And charged him. She was very rude. This place was a mixed bag. The server was polite, but terse when interacting with us. The breakfast food was good to pretty good, but overpriced for what you got, especially compared to comparable other places. However, one of the main issues was the service. It seemed that not only did regular customers, which is normal, but all customers of the same ethnicity as the workers/owners? got served ahead of us, but also our order took at least twice to three times as long to come out even above waiting for others to get their orders taken first-we are not of the same ethnicity as the owners. Even if unintentional, the experience made us feel discriminated against. This negative experience, plus the cost will probably keep us away for good. Early morning breakfast is usually our go to they are often pretty busy so I suggest you go early.they are open until 3pm only but offer breakfast, lunch and dinner options. NO REFILLS ON DRINKS!!! The horror... Let me start off by saying, I was expecting much better. For being around as long as it has, you would think that Bun-N-Burger would be a great place to get a burger and fries. Unfortunately, that was not the case. There really is no way to mess up a burger and fries... unless said burger and fries has no taste or seasoning at all. I was really perplexed at the lack of flavor in my food, it was the first time in my burger-eating existence that I couldn't taste a thing at all! And it wasn't just me, my friend thought the exact same. My burger was a great deal at just under $7 (not including the drink which DOESN'T come with a refill!) My friend ordered the $5 grilled cheese, which only came with a pickle spear. No fries, nothing! So he ended up spending a lot more than expected. The grilled cheese was nothing fancy, just two pieces of toast with a slice of melted cheese in the middle. The parking situation isn't anything to write home about either. I was surprised by this old school diner on Main Street. The walls adorned all this old memorabilia from the 60's and 70's I think. They only accept CASH. The prices seemed very reasonable including the fact that I purchased their lunch special of a burger, fries, and drink for only $5.50. I was greeted promptly by the hostess and was sat immediately at the bar. In no time, I got my freshly made burger and fries. I was really impressed by their service and the freshness of the food. I would definitely come back here again. It is the real deal, unlike the other "diners" on Main Street if you know what I mean. Their parking lot is really tiny behind the restaurant. Also, it is hard to maneuver if you park towards the end of the lot because you would have to back out a considerable distance to exit. Used to come here all the time in high school. Haven't been here in a few years. Stopped by for Sunday lunch with the family and was not disappointed! The place still has wall to wall picture of Elvis, Lucy, coca cola and much more great stuff to keep you occupied during the short wait for your food. It was busy, but we were seated right away. The waitress was friendly and got all of the orders right. We had chili cheeseburgers, fries, pancakes, eggs and bacon. The chili was just as good as I remember. Not award winning but delicious! I was pleasantly surprised to find extra tartar sauce in the bag - I got my order to go. I've been in search of a GREAT chile rejellano since arriving in San Gabriel. Who knew I should've been looking at the Burger place?! Perfect! Exactly way I love chile rejallanos. Just enough golded egg batter to cover the pablano chile with lovely WHITE cheese on the inside. Service was always fast and friendly and you really feel thrown back into the 50's with the decor. After Covid, I was thankful that this place had outdoor dining available. The sidewalk seating was a catches a little too much sun during the day. But they also had a tent and 2 tables set up in the small parking lot. I asked the lady if that was my correct change and when she said "yeah" I knew I was getting short-changed.
