Great burger spot with a few surprises (and great beer)! Visited recently and three of us sampled burgers and fries. We tried the lamb burger, a couple cheese burgers, and both the plain and garlic fries. The cheeseburgers were awesome and totally pleased us. The fries were all super crisp and a nice thickness, with the garlic fries proving to be the biggest hit. The lamb burger was a nice change of pace, but seemed a little dry. Could be it was cooked a bit more than was ideal. They had advertised a sauce, but it was hard to spot. Sending a side of it would have been perfect I think. This stop has started to become a tradition. If one of us in the family makes it to town you have to stop at Burger Me. They have grown!! Since my last visit they have added a beautiful outdoor patio seating. The majority of the place is open air but this really have them the dining space they needed. Tonight was simply the Elk burger. Okay- when you have skied all day in sub zero temperatures enduring the "grill" at Sugar Bowl, almost all hope in burgers is lost. Having said that, me and the family were famished, and fellow yelpers had this place as a solid 4. Again, applying the triad or triangle of excellence, this place was difficult to rate. Note, it appeared on burgers diners and dives at some point, and I do agree that it should have been a feature. However, if I use fair rating criteria, I can only give it three stars even though I want to give it five. Here is what we experienced. First, the service and space. The service is absolutely fantastic and the food came out quick and hot. There was one mistake on a burger, but the starving child was far too hungry to complain. He ended up eating a half of a second burger. The space is cramped. REALLY CRAMPED. I don't know how they would solve this, but the amount of seats is simply not enough. In the summer I would say it's fine with outdoor seating, and it is in Truckee which means it's highly seasonal. Finally, again, a minor issue that always tells a bit about detail, the men's bathroom needed some tlc as some of the walls had graffiti. Not a big deal, but it begs what other details are missed. Hence, 3 stars compared to other similar burger places. Next the food. I had a build a burger with bison on a brioche roll. I added cheddar and a fried egg. The other four in my group had something similar with fries and a drink. The food was excellent. The burger was cooked exactly as I asked, the egg was a fantastic add, and the fries were yummy. The condiments were generous and I really liked the "build a burger" options. And for what it's worth, any burger place that has grey pupon in the condiments understands taste. An easy 5 stars! Finally, the value. For five, the food cost was over $60. That's pricey and considering it was a burger, and a great burger by the way, I don't see the value. I wouldn't see me making this a regular stop. I would go a couple of times a year to get a fix but I don't think it would be in the rotation, which makes me sad. However, if you are on I80, and hungry, it's a good option. For me, I know it's there, and it's a backup option. 2.5 stars. Finally, parking is damn difficult (it's the holiday season at dinner, so skiers are everywhere) but bear that in mind. read more

I went here with my kids and grandson. I had the cowboy burger and ordered it medium. It was an amazingly flavorful burger cooked to perfection, nailing the medium promise. All the toppings added to the glorious experience with the only drawback being that it was over too soon. The fries were crispy outside yet soft inside with what appeared to be maybe parsley sprinkled as a garnish. If you're a fan of the Food Channel, then you may have heard of Burger Me!, a gourmet burger restaurant, located in the charming Sierra Nevada mountain town of Truckee, CA. Burger Me! has achieved quite a reputation among locals, tourist and travelers on nearby I-80, as the restaurant has received national exposure, and it's know to serve the best burgers in town, in a laid-back atmosphere. Thanks to the COVID-19, along Nevada County's rigid guidelines, you can't go inside the dining to order, or dine. The front door is open, and a staff member is at the door to take your order. The restaurant works on what I call the "taqueria" format, in that you make your selection from the menu - to the right of the door outside this photo - you pay for your order, and when your order is ready, it will be brought to your table. The menu, just to the side of the "order door," lists the many varieties of burgers, salads, sides and "Add On's" Burger Me! is famous for. No wonder the restaurant was featured on the Food Network's "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" a few years ago. The once busy dining room is now bare of tables and chairs, and all dining happens outside on the comfortable dining room. Burger Me! is definitely aware of the COVID-19 virus! Truckee is located in the Sierra Nevada mountains at the 6000 foot level, with winters that are cold and snowy, with temperatures frequently many degrees below zero. I wonder what the dining conditions will be this winter? I went with the stock, "Hamburger," along with a side of "Regular" fries. When I'm dining at a restaurant for the first time, I like to start at the "top" of the menu, or with a dish that's named after the restaurant. A plain "Hamburger," along with a basket of "Regular" fries seemed like a good place to begin... All burgers from the "Menu" come with lettuce, tomato, pickles and in-house made 1000 island dressing. All burgers served at Burger Me! are custom made from fresh ingredients. This isn't "fast food," as the burgers are made as the order is placed, so if you're expecting your burger to arrive in a minute or two, there are many "fast food" restaurants in town that would suit you better. Your "Hamburger" starts with a 1/3 pound of all natural beef, cooked to your specification - medium in my case - and your meat patty is season, juicy, and perfectly cooked. The meat patty is placed on a toasted bun, that actually stays intact with you eat your burger, and you'll enjoy the fresh lettuce, tomato, pickle and the in-house made 1000 island dressing. Onion is available upon request, but I didn't request any onion, as I wanted my burger "stock," from the menu. This is an "old school" burger in every way, complete with the 1000 island dressing, as it's juicy, messy - you'll use many napkins - and delicious. The bun and meat are warm, and the lettuce, tomato, pickle and dressing are cold, which is the mark of a superior, custom-made burger, and makes for an excellent burger taste sensation. This burger was so delicious that I didn't add any mustard, mayonnaise or any other condiment. The fries were simply amazing, as they were deep fried to a perfect, golden brown on the outside, and tender, white and chewy on the inside, which is the way fries should be. The fries arrived perfectly seasoned, and they really didn't need to be dipped in ketchup, but the "kid" in me always wants to dip my fries in ketchup. Burger Me! certainly lives up to it's reputation, as it serves an amazing burger, and some of the best fries known to mankind. The burger is amazing, the fries are heavenly, the patio is comfortable and inviting, and the staff is as friendly as it gets. Not sure why it's so highly rated honestly. It really screams mediocre fast food joint. We got a kids burger and the cowboy burger and both were super dry and relatively flavorless. My husband got the fish sando, fish was overdone and the slaw was unimpressive. The ordering at the counter just seems like a nice way to charge restaurant prices, but not to actually serve your guests. Even more, the burgers are around 11 bucks, but don't actually come with fries, so it just seemed a little cheap on their part. The staff made a few mistakes on the order, not worth returning anything but it was enough to seal the deal in not returning. The beer was good, the fries were good, the ranch was good.
