It's not just about the food but the service too! We arrived right as they were opening. I am not one to enjoy being a part of the first few customers at opening time only because the staff can be trying to get the work groove on. Let me tell ya, the staff always have it dialed with pleasantries and courtesy. We had four orders all combos and they came out perfect!! It wasn't crowded of course but it was the effort put forth at the lull of the day that impressed us ... at that time. We come back to the car to head back home to Sacramento and my car's battery was dead. The front patio was filled with gawking guests intrigued by our issue with no willingness to aid, just look on and talk, talk, talk. In any case my husband went in to ask if anyone there working may have jumper cables and we had the manager on duty and two employees assist. Thankfully it was a short moment out of a busy time of day that the assistance was needed but it spoke VOLUMES!! This is our third time visiting Burger Me (Truckee location) and it continues to be one of our favorite places to eat when visiting North Lake. I eat very strictly gluten free and have always had reliable gf buns at Burger Me. This time we were staying at Northstar and drove just a few miles after placing a phone order. The lady who took our order very obviously knew the entire menu back to front, and she was very attentive to our preferred customizations. First, my little sister (11) got the kid's grilled cheese on sourdough which came with a side of fries. My mom got a cheeseburger with no thousand island sauce. My partner and I both got a hamburger (no cheese) with no thousand island on a gluten free bun. Grandma had the fish sando sandwich, and the lady on the phone asked if she wanted it fried or blackened, grandma decided on blackened. We added a side of fries, onion rings, and sweet potato fries to share. I have included pictures of our food (except the regular fries, those were quickly gobbled). We left immediately to drive from Northstar to the restaurant and the food was ready right when we arrived. Luck was on our side, we got a parking spot right in front (parking is usually difficult at this location). The only thing that wasn't perfect is that the kid's meal was supposed to have a juice box and we forgot to check for it when we left with the take out. Luckily the sister didn't mind, we had drinks at the hotel. It was a very convenient, great dinner after a long cold day of skiing. Grandma was extremely pleased with the price, too. I like that they use local, all natural meats but overall this place didn't do much for me. The meat was way too seasoned (salty) on both the beef and the turkey, and both burgers were overcooked so they were dry. Buns were good but the onions rings were cold. Maybe their timing was off today. I would give them another try. PS the best part was that the kid behind the counter, whom I really hope was stoned, spelled Marshall "Martial." Put simply, the BEST hamburger joint in town. Many a times have I driven past this restaurant with its quirky location, but always found a reason to skip it. Maybe it was the thought of paying the Tahoe Tax for a hamburger, when I can just drive down the hill and get the tried and true In N Out for a few bucks. Whatever the reason, this place has escaped me. Until now. My mission - to order the house hamburger and nothing else. I can save those fries for another time. My order - hamburger with grilled onions, lettuce, tomatoe, pickles, and dressing. $7.01 including tax. Result? Yes folks, this burger has made it into my top 5 hamburgers of all time. And you wanna know what put it over the top??? Was it the perfectly cooked beef, nice char on the outside and yet still moist inside? Maybe. Was it the flavorful onions and yummy dressing? Perhaps. No my friends, it was the incredibly moist, spungy hamburger bun that sealed this deal. So many places take the bun for granted, but this yeasty treat was the most delicious carbohydrate I have eaten. The tables are filthy and I'm not sure but I think I saw one of the cooks working the cash register and then straight to meal prep - without washing his hands... Be prepared for parking difficulties when you plan how long it will take to get there to pick up your order if you're doing take out -- street parking was *packed* at 1:30 on a Saturday afternoon. Covid -- everyone inside had on masks, and you were helped at the doorway (no entrance for customers). There were tables outside for outdoor eating, but it was pretty full, so we didn't stay. Super cute old fashioned burger joint with a "gamey" twist: elk, bison, and (Gyro) ground lamb burgers in addition to the more classic hamburger and turkey burger. We ordered the Truckee Trainwreck and Elk burgers with strawberry and brown sugar cinnamon shakes, and have VERY Happy and full tummies! I ordered the Reuban hamburger (pastrami and saurkraut on a hamburger patty), and shared a small order of onion rings with my bf. Most of the tables were dirty and the place wasn't super busy. I really enjoyed my burger. I thought it had good flavor. The onion rings were too oily for my liking, but I'm not a huge fan of onion rings anyhow. Horrible! Ordered online and yes I may have gotten there 7 min before my pick up time but they still didn't give me my order until 10 min after my pick up time. It's not like they were busy. The cook was taking a break and the rest of the staff was standing around. In the meantime, my medium burgers came out charcoal well done and the fries were also over cooked and too salty. Maybe if they weren't just standing around and the cook eating his popsicle in the kitchen without gloves or a mask, they would have gotten the order right. All the cashier could say was sorry. I've been here twice and both times it did not disappoint. I last went back in April with my bro-in-law after partying all weekend in Tahoe at a partner's bachelor party. Again, I found out about Burger Me through Triple D. I made up my own burger from the myriad choices of meat and toppings they offer which include bison, ostrich, and turkey. I had a blue cheese, bacon, fried egger, with all the other usual toppings. Good and juicy and requires 2 hands to hold. I added my own mayo/chipotle sauce and it was jammin'. You have to order the onion rings here. They are the best. You get big rings and they have an excellent crispy crunchy taste to them. They have big windows to enjoy the forest/train views and they always had sports on the tube too. read more

The Grilled Ahi fish sandwich is incredible...like really, really amazing: A thinnish slice of grilled ahi tuna that is entirely enough to match and balance the whole wheat bun, topped with sriracha / red cabbage slaw, mixed greens and a mouthwatering smear of wasabi mayo. Change the name to Fish Mer right now!!! Also had a small side salad for $3. This is my new Tahoe value favorite because it is a total bargain, totally not small, totally tasty, and a total treat. Working in truckee recently and decided I needed a burger. Now there's quite a few places around town to get one but we decided to stop in here. Lots of seating with outdoor area option with heated lamps. Pretty cool basic ambiance. Restaurant was clean. Menu has everything from elk, to beef to vegan options including ice cream and beer. Decided to go with the burger on the chalk board which was a stuffed burger. Has five cheeses, jalapeños, bacon and greens with tortilla chips. Fries were nice and abundant. Nice crispy crunch and soft as well. Pretty much perfect. The burger was disappointing though. Little to no flavor, charred taste, bacon had no flavor ( how does that even happen). Jalapeños were nice and spicy though. Overall it gets a three out of five due to it being a burger place and that was the worst part of it. We went here about a few weeks ago since it was a Triple D destination. I had the Bison Burger and onion rings. The burgers had bbq sauce, melted American cheese, jalepeno peppers, lettuce, tomato and their special sauce and I added bacon (for an extra charge). I was a little underwhelmed by the burger in general, I feel that it was average in both the tasting and visual departments. Maybe I should have added a fried egg on it too. I had to order the onion rings since they are homemade - they are one of the best I've ever had! The rings were huge, hot and crispy. The soda pop and all burger condiments - mayo, mustard, ketchup, relish, peppers and raw diced onion are serve yourself. All items, except kid' meals are a la carte. I probably should have tried the shakes, but really wanted to concentrate on the burger and rings. Overall, the place is clean, the staff is nice the wait time was minimal. If we are ever in the area, I may give it another try, but I guess I was disappointed in the overall taste experience. read more

Decent burgers, yummy fries, okay vanilla malt. We had a bbq pulled pork sandwich and lamb burger. The pulled pork was covered with pieces of jalapeno that added a nice kick but the bleu cheese was a bit unusual. At least the balance was decent between the flavors. The lamb burger came with a cool dill cucumber sauce that was yummy but just not strong enough. We ended up slathering this burger with ketchup just to give it some salt and extra flavor. The lamb meat itself was good though. The fries were good although not that memorable. The vanilla malt wasn't strongly malted but was decent as a vanilla milkshae. Overall, using 2 stars as our average, we thought this place was decent at 3 stars. read more

My husband and i shared their BBQ Bison Burger and Sweet Potato fries. We asked for the burger with no cheese, with jalapeños, and with grilled onions - very delicious! Their Sweet Potato Fries were better than most others we had, and the Garlic Sweet Potato fries our friends got was even better. Next time I'll go for the garlic version since I am a garlic fan. My son's Grilled Cheese Sandwich from the kids meal was made out of a small burger bun and cheese - he ate most of it, so it's kid approved. The apple slices we got with it were very sweet. The downside was limited seating - I felt like I was dining Hong Kong style, with people hovering and obviously waiting for our table. We arrived at 11:30am and did not have any trouble finding two tables for four adults and three toddlers, so go before the rush. The second downside is just that it's expensive - our shared burger, fries and kid's meal cost about $14 - but lucky for them I'm willing to pay more as long as the food is of good quality! The tables were clean and not sticky, which is sadly sometimes the case with places like burger joints where hands get messy from holding your food. Burger me? I don't think so, I know it can be hard to find good food in Truckee but this is a total miss. I know I am spoiled San Franciscan and acknowledge that completely. The burger was edible, but seriously dry. The rest of the food was so so. The onion rings were as greasy as possible. The garlic fries were garlicky, all fine and tolerable, not awesome. The service was a nice for a burger joint. I was initially put off by the fact that the girl taking my order seemed to just barley get it right. It took substantially longer than those who ordered after is and it came out somewhat wrong on a few counts. SO fail for service, not a huge deal but overall it sort of was a joke. Dinner, drive in's and Dive's came here, Guy likes the Italian stallion (heart attack) sandwich, probably better than anything else they have to offer.
