Just in town for the weekend. Service was excellent at the bar. Very large bar area. The problem with the bar is when eating there, there's a large lip that just doesn't allow eating at the bar to be super comfortable. Typical irish bar decorations. I bet this place would be a blast on St. Paddy's Day! Drinks were solid and we didn't have to wait long. Smashburgers were mid. Just kinda tasteless and no real smashburger crust. Their pickles were phenomenal though! They have a few claw machines and several other video games to play which I always enjoy. Would go back to see how their late night weekends are! read more

There were hardly any people in the place, yet it took us over an hour since we sat down to get our meal. It was a weeknight and around 5:45. The food ordered was average. How long does it take to make a grilled cheese sandwich and ladle out a cup of soup? And the ambience? My bad, but I thought it was an Irish pub, but it really gave off vibes of a refurbished VFW. Have been back to this place about 3 more times. Every time the food seems like it's cooked by someone else. Unfortunately the food was disappointed more each time. The server/bartender was ok except for the last 15 minutes where we didn't know where she went and we wanted to pay to leave. The music was at a decent level so you could still talk to the people you're with. I do notice the place can get loud with more people there and it's as if everyone is yelling. May try this place again for drinks or fries, but it's a Toss up on the other foods read more

Fantastic !!! We are staying at Kalahari and decided to get take out for dinner from here for our family and it did not disappoint. The Ruben was delicious and fresh, the tots were crispy, the kids approved of the chicken fingers and the beer was cold while we waited for the order. Would definitely order from here again. We had stopped at two previous locations for lunch in Mt. Poconos before we settled on Burkes Tavern. Don't be surprised when you walk in...it IS a tavern. But as far as taverns go, very clean and the service was top notch. They couldn't have been more attentive and courteous. Love good customer service, and this was that! I had the Bavarian pretzel and the mini pierogi. The pretzel was the BEST pretzel I have ever had - and I'm kinda a pretzel aficionado. Great place for a casual meal and a cold one! read more

Wish they had 0 stars, made this account just to talk about how horrible this place is. Not because of how the place looks or the food but the rude, disrespectful bartender. We tried to take in consideration maybe there is something wrong with her brain but we don't think that's the case, she has a case of hating life. Got disrespected from the second we walked in. We are all over 21 and respectful and from a different state and got question about it and we showed are ids and she had a very hard time reading so my brother gave her advice where the date was at and she responded she could read with rude remarks. We tried to order a cocktail she swear she couldn't make it, two girl walked in and she jumped to making cocktails. Than at the end my father had to leave so he tried to pay for his bill she just charged him for everything without letting him know than gave rude remarks after her tried to tell her we are all separate and she couldn't help him. Came here with six 17 year olds after snow tubing. Everyone was cold and starving. This place has a nice tavern feel, the staff is very friendly and the food was just the gastronomical meal we needed! Large bar, many tv's with sports and a cute faux fireplace in the middle of the restaurant. Will come here again if ever in the area. read more

Four stars for being a cool tavern. Although they serve mostly typical bar food fare, it's better than most you'll find in the Poconos. Years ago, this place was destroyed in a fire and the rebuilt it to its present glory and is a fantastic sports bar now. The servers are terrific and very interactive. The food is actually very good compared to most bars or taverns in the area. Yesterday, I ordered the Fish Po Boy and was impressed. They make a good sandwich. I'm not sure what type of fish it was but it had nice flavor. read more

Definitely didn't experience anything from the previous reviews! Service was fast and friendly. My boneless wings with the sweet and spicy sauce, also the triple b sauce, were fantastic. Others had the Reuben (excellent) with tots (yum!) and grilled ham and cheese (fantastic)! Beer is cold and reasonably priced. They also have a kids menu. The atmosphere is that of a fun bar, I really liked the kind of Irish tavern feel, bar was clean and beautiful, and nice little arcade (bring quarters) and juke box! read more

I've been told by locals that they just aren't nice to anyone but their regulars because they want to keep it their regulars & don't want repeat business from outsiders. Not sure if that's true or not but, they were really not helpful and rude none the less. I gladly paid for the wings no problem but, good customer service would be to at least help me to pay my bill in a reasonable time so that I could leave. It shouldn't take a 1/2 hour after a broken tooth to leave. There were only 3 people at the bar and maybe 1 table in the restaurant. Horrible customer service and wait time was ridiculous. read more

Waitress was nice but the food was disgusting, my burger tasted reheated and my mom chili tasted like it was from a can.

Stopped in on a Friday night with a group of 8. Staff was quick to put a table together for us and our server Maddie greeted us and told us it was her first night. First set of drinks took a bit but food came out quickly and correctly. Maddie's helper ( did not get her name ) was great grabbing some napkins and condiments that were needed. Typically bar food , nothing special but drinks were reasonably priced and staff made it a great night for our group. Will be back. read more

As a regular customer The Guinness stew is excellent and you can get some good entrees but sometimes it's a hit or miss and if you complain you have to watch who is on because they are just down right rude. They are convenient and do make some great items but as a regular customer my husband and I were treated so badly when they screwed our order up that I will think twice next time and that was by one of the waitresses and the cook finally the manager on duty Jenn had to handle it and the other 2 still wouldn't shut up with there rudeness. Pocono pub... used to be something special some time ago, now it's like a TGIFridays. Which is fine, it's an enormous tavern. Rebuilt a few years ago, it's still like new inside. It's loud, even when it's empty. If it were on a ski lodge, it would be perfect. We still enjoy a few drinks at the bar... Food is greasy and mostly fried bar grub. The French fry Friday is a great deal and they are good! The Staff looks like they rolled out of bed or fresh from the gym. No energy in the place. If I could leave 0 stars I would. I went in for a quick bite. The place had people in it, but was not crowded. I sat at the bar to expedite the process. It seemed like half the stuff on the menu was not available. I settled on a turkey club. After 50 minutes, the bar tender finally decided to check on me and asked if I was ok. I said that I ordered my food almost an hour ago and I still didn't get it. She shrugged her shoulders, said there's only one person working in the back, and then said "I don't know what to tell you." I then stated I didn't want the food any more and to close out my bill. Good wings and burgers. Usually the service is great but went tonight and despite being one of 4 tables with two waitresses it took forever to get service. We considered leaving but decided we didnt want to drive any further. That was a mistake. Hard to get the bartender to pay attention to anything but her phone.
