The bartenders are nice, however and if my food wasn't burnt every time I came here the PRICE IS DECENT FOR THE DAILY SPECIAL ONLY!!!! Burke's used to be a fun little local bar with a lot of weekly specials. I can say the food has never been very good, but the deals were worth it. My boyfriend and I recently visited Burke's, after moving away, on a Tuesday. We were both excited for Taco Tuesday, for the awesome prices on tacos and drinks. However, when we walked in it was completely dead and I asked the bartender if they still did Taco Tuesday. She explained they no longer do ANYYYY weekly specials, which includes drinks. So after ordering an over priced drink we asked if we could have quarters for the pool table. Come to find out they took that away too!! No specials, no pool table and a completely dead bar. It is very disappointing to see such a beautiful bar become an overpriced waste of space. As a local to this area I've come here many times before and it's with regret that I say this, this restaurant and bar isn't good. It's not that the place isn't nice, it's just the quality and pricing. I've eaten many of the items on the menu and it's all just very basic bar food with an even blander palette. I thought I'd give it another chance after not going there for nearly a year and ordered the veggie burger minus the bun. It literally was a BOCA patty (which I don't normally mind) but it only had a few peppers and jalapenos scattered on the top and a single pickle on the side with a tiny bag of Lays chips (not optional, because I don't eat Lays). I paid $10 for this meal and even if it included the bun it wouldn't be a substantial amount for any diner. The waitress/bartender had asked me if I wanted fries with it for an additional $2 but I've had their fries and knew they weren't anything special. My boyfriend ended up getting a quesadilla special and his came to $9 and it was only a half-portion. Don't get me wrong it was a decent sized quesadilla but for the quality and zero sides to accommodate either dish really made it lackluster in its presentation and its taste. For the kind of pricing they have and the standard bar food they serve the price is not worth it. I could easily go to bars/restaurants in the vicinity, like Lombardi's Brookeside Inn, The Blackhorse Pub & Grill, or the Jubilee and feel that the quality equaled the cost. The convenience of closeness does not merit the inconvenience of Burke's shortcomings. As someone who loves exploring bars and restaurants all over the coast, I can say this is a place you may want to avoid. The only real time to show up to this location is if you're going to Happy Hour from 3-6pm for their $2 well drinks. Otherwise I highly recommend checking out the other restaurants listed above for a better experience. Other info: Burke's Tavern use to have two pool tables to play and they took those out. They don't have any sort of live music on weekdays or weekends. The selection of craft beers on tap or bottled are few, and the cocktails aren't anything special to rave about. I look for all these elements when going to a bar and find it hard to want to come back. read more

This bar was built a few years back after its predecessor burned down. The interior is nice. No overbearing décor items but trying to tie into St. Patrick's Day and the Irish pub feel. The staff was medium friendly where they weren't going out of their way to be bubbly or chatty but not snubbing you either. The food was an attempt at a fuller bar menu. I ordered the Irish stew on a waitress' recommendation. It was not good and reminded me of Dinty Moore from a can. A colleague of mine ordered chicken wings. When the order came, it appeared two of them still had some feathers on them. The wings and drummies were meaty but you had to get through the mental challenge on the feathers. I had not heard about this place until I saw in ad in the paper for the restaurant. After reading the mixed reviews on Yelp I was a bit leery of going as it seemed there was a 50-50 chance of me being happy with the choice! I will say we ended up being in the upper 50 as we had a great experience. The place is very big and open when you enter - I like the fact that they don't take up every inch with tables and "stuff" - you have space. It was clean; bathrooms included, and had a nice feel to it. The service was prompt and helpful - our server continued to check on us throughout the meal. The food was very good, one of us had the stew over noodles - it was very tasty and I had the Beef and Ale sandwich which was tasty as well - we also had the fried cheese appetizer and that was good as well. A big letdown. I went here after a recommendation from my brother and now he owes me. I should start this review by stating that I used to go to the "old" burkes's before it burned down. When I heard that it reopened I went as soon as was convenient. It is nothing like it used to be in all the worst ways. The service used to be good, the beer used to be cold, and the food used to be memorable. Now it is a modernized bar that can't seem to do anything right. The service was shockingly slow and the food was not good (pathetic nachos, limp wings, cold fries, and uninspired sandwiches). DO NOT GO HERE, I ordered a simple cheeseburger in a group of about 10 people and while food took about 45 minutes to come out. Not everyone got it right away but it all eventually came except mine. The waitress asked me 3 different times if I ordered chicken fingers and I told her I got a cheeseburger, I got my food in a to go box because by the time I got it everyone was ready to leave. Nice looking place but yuck to the food. Burkes used to be a great small town Irish pub. Stopped by for the New York strip, when I got there it was crossed off the menu. Flat iron steak crossed off, so Since there were not many meals on the menu I just ordered the grilled chicken sandwich which was was bad. I immediately tasted and smelled that the chicken was bad. To be very honest I wasn't super impressed by this Tavern. Though the waitress were very nice, polite, and, helpful. They were so understanding and gave a good service! But, the food was only decent. It was too salty and oily. The portions were a good size and the prices were pretty cheap! The sweet potato fries were my favorite! Seasoned perfectly and cooked just to the right crisp and texture! It was a very spacious and nicely air-conditioned environment. The bathrooms were also very neat and clean There was also a very large bar and an "arcade" gaming area. I just felt that that the space was a bit too old, the décor was not very good, and the lighting was a bit too dim. Though, I still truly enjoyed my dinner there. read more

Ok so where do I start...how about with having to wait about an hour for wings! Wings! How long do wings take? And it was wing nite! Smh. We got one round of drinks and had to wait even longer for the other round. But we were still optimistic for the food. Hoping that the good would at least be worth the wait...NOT!!! Wings were dried! Decided to stop by here for dinner, it's weird that the entrance is in the back. But my boyfriend and I walked in and waited at the door, no one approached us or told us we could seat ourselves. It felt awkward so we just decided to sit at the bar because that's where everyone was. We sat down and were not acknowledged by a single staff member despite being walked past multiple times and other customers being served because they seemed to know the workers behind the bar. It was overall just awkward, after waiting for 10 minutes for someone to help us, we got up and walked out. The staff behind the bar walked passed many times and was having conversations with other people and cursing loudly. Stayed in the area on a long boys weekend. Stopped in on a Friday afternoon at 1pm. This place had about 20 bar patrons and 3 tables sat, so not very busy. Took 45 minutes to get 1 burger, quesadillas, boneless wings, and 3 orders of fries. Garlic boneless were good but burger and quesadillas were nondescript and blah. Steak fries were just cut up potato in huge slices- terrible. Would not go back even if the wait for food was 1/4 of our wait. Go somewhere else if you are in a hurry! read more

Have been here literally dozens of times, not because I like it, but because there is nothing else in the area. From the awful food I can only gather that the owner takes little pride of ownership. Rude. Slow. Only had 1 waitress on for a Saturday. We arrived at 12:30pm, got our food at 2 pm. Watched customers that came in after us eat and leave. When food arrived it was wrong. Only comped the fries. When discussing with owner the problem he said "who cares if you waited an hour and 1/2 for your food, you ate didn't you?". We him we expected more compensation. He said how about if he calls the cops on us. Said go ahead. He then cut the bill in half. Obviously this is his practice, since the waitress told me if we make too much fuss about poor service and bill he would call the police. And she told us this before he even got involved. Met friends there last night for dinner. Place is very nice looking. Big parking lot and very spacious inside. Waitress super friendly and quick. The place was not crowded. Ordered the popcorn shrimp appetizer and it was good. We also ordered the Iris nachos (they stunk), fried asparagus (inedible) and fried mozzarella (bland). The kicker was the bruschetta. Oh my word it was horrible. Too much balsamic vinegar. The tomatoes were black. The person in our group who had two pieces ended up throwing up and the rest of us had stomach cramps all night. The rest of our food was marginal. The pizza was undercooked. The burger was overrun with onions. The fish and chips were passable. All the fries were limp and old tasting. I'll add to the fact that the original Burke's was a neighborhood bar with food type restaurant with no pretensions; it served some of the best food in the region. I didn't even want to give this place any stars, but I had to in order to write a review. Two waitresses working the week between Christmas and New Year. Absolutely ridiculous. We waited over an hour and a half. People we're waiting longer than us. Asked for a manager and was told he is on vacation. If you don't have the wait staff or man power. And you want to vacation on a week where you know it's busy at your establishment close the place down. Will never come here again and we are locals. I don't understand the low rating. We've been here twice recently. One of the best burgers I've ever had. Excellent Reuben sandwich. Onion rings are amazing. The wings were great too. My friend ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich and requested it on a wrap instead of a roll. They were happy to accommodate his request and he said it was one of the best wraps he's ever had. If you're looking for some decent food and a drink Burkes is great. Perfect little bar in a small town. Could be an incredible spot for locals but the staff is always pretty low standard. It's the only spot close enough to home for us to really enjoy. Tonight we came for the super bowl, 2 bartenders got off shift and sat at the bar. 2 girls yelling profanity and being obnoxious. A blonde and a Spanish girl. I'd be a dedicated local if the bar was managed better. Our poor bartender Kendall. Some of the bad reviews do have there merit. I have experienced some of the same things from the bad reviews like bad food and long wait times for service. I am a regular that came back because of the atmosphere and good beer, but recently, over the past couple of months, the service has gotten a lot quicker, and the food is now awesome! The atmosphere is friendly and the staff offered excellent service. The food tends to be undercooked. I ordered wings and fresh cut fries the wings were bloody inside and the fries were hard and undercooked. Wow!!! I haven't been here in a year and I'm glad to see that burke's tavern has still got it. Got excellent service from our waitress Danielle and Kerri the manager was great too. We ordered beef and ale, a chicken Parmesan, spaghetti and meatballs. Even though it was not on the menu they fixed it with linguini instead. The food was warm, and the lava cakes were delicious!! Burke's also has a wonderful atmosphere in which everybody is jolly. This atmosphere and great food and service is what keeps us coming to Burke's tavern! read more
