3.5 stars really. It's a more upscale bar & grill with a small bar and a large outdoor patio. I've been here about a handle of times now and food hasn't disappointed other than the salmon I got. That was dry and needed more seasoning. It also lacked freshness which was a turn off. I stick to salads here - they're quite hefty and the seasoning is always well balanced. The bartender was attentive when we've sat at the bar and the drinks were well made. As for dinner seating - we had a bad experience once. It was for a large party of about 12 people and we had two elderly persons who shouldn't have been seated at a high top. We made sure we were going to be accommodated for a large party but when we arrived, the hostess told us we could only have the high top. What the heck are reservations for then? She was not helpful and pathetically solemn, which set the mood out wrong from the start of dinner. Other than that, it's been generally a mediocre experience, but Sterling doesn't have much to offer so I will be coming back. It's not my first choice, but it's not my last either. It's clean, modern, generally good food with a tad of crap service at times but overall, not something to boot yet. read more

Went here for lunch with some friends. It was mid afternoon so it wasn't busy. The hostess and server was very mindful of food allergies and it came up multiple times. If I had a food allergy, this is where I'd go. Service was great. We ordered the General Tso's cauliflower and half and half wings to start. Both of these were delicious! I would come back just for the cauliflower dish. For our mains, we got the shrimp and lobster pasta, chicken risotto, salmon with rice and broccoli, and haddock with rice and broccoli. Everything was tasty and you could tell because the table was quiet. I'd highly recommend the shrimp and lobster pasta. Finally we ended with the creme brûlée and a chocolate pudding. I had hopes for this place but was unimpressed. Our service was terrible. We were a table of 9-10 in the bar area at happy hour. Our server would disappear for long chunks at a time. We ended up going to the bar to order. Ambiance if the room we were in was nice enough but nothing special. Food prices were good until you got the order. Had a great time here with my family! It was my second time here but this place has become a real staple for us. They have great American food which I crave once in awhile. Our sever was nice but she had a hard time answering our simple questions we had about the menu. For appetizers we had the Firecracker Shrimp and Bread Service. The Firecracker Shrimp was good but mainly tasted of sweet chili sauce. Although, the Bread Service was amazing. The bread was so soft on the inside and the outside seasoning was great. For my entree I got the Filet Mignon and i through enjoyed it! It was cooked perfectly and the bone marrow butter was a real nice touch. Updated review, lowering to 3 stars for takeout. Crab cakes were completely shredded and not delivered with sauce. Very dry. I would expect for a $44 entree that the crab cakes would be somewhat in tact. On a positive note, the spinach dip was delicious and the chips they serve with it are extra tasty. Lots of gluten free options. For the price point, there are more reliable places I can order from, so probably won't door dash again. At some point I'd love to try this place in person. read more

OMG what a SPECTACULAR MEAL I had delivered from Burtons, WOW! This was by far one of my FAVORITE meals I've had since moving to Virginia over a year ago, and I didn't even have it at the restaurant! I can't even imagine the meal being any better than what it was, but I am not determined to get to dine in at the restaurant VERY SOON! I had the Scallops abs Corn appetizer for a starter and those scallops were cooked to PERFECTION! And the corn .... I could've literally slurped it right out of the to go container because that's just how divine it was! For my entree I went with the Mediterranean Salad and added on Grilled Shrimp. The salad had the perfect balance of all of the perfectly sliced and diced veggies with mixed olives and the dressing was a homemade olive oil based herbed vinaigrette which was so good I saved some to pour over my salad tomorrow! OH and the grilled shrimp were perfectly grilled and lightly seasoned and the TAILS WERE OFF!!!! That's HUGE because most times the tails are left on and I have to spend time while I'm salivating removing the tails, yet Burton's put enough thought into removing the tails for me so I could get right to it and cut those shrimp right on up onto my salad. Had a great experience at Burtons on Charleston SC and had high hopes for a nice dinner here Took a long time to sit despite many tables being open. Then our drinks weren't made right - "we ran out of tajin" - even though there is a grocery store right next door. Tables cleared slowly. Slow service. Piecemeal delivery of ordered items and very little follow up. Manager didn't have much to say when these were brought to his attention. We usually really like Burtons for its reliably good food. The dry rub wings are blackened and delicious. Pretty great chicken/artichoke risotto. Prosecco on tap. There seem to be some recent changes that are a disappointment, tho. The "adult chicken fingers" are dreadful. Bland and cornmeal-dry, with no dipping sauce (at $21.80). Their bronzed shrimp are tough and an expensive add-on to a basic chopped (iceberg) house salad ($29.35). They reduced their prosecco pours by about 30%. It's just weird. read more

I've been to Burtons Grill & Bar a couple times and it never fails to disappoint me. My first ever dish that I ever got from this restaurant was Lobster & Shrimp Pasta at a whopping $38! The price tag is a bit pricey on this specific dish but what can you expect if you want a good dish in the United States. The pasta had a good portions of lobster and shrimp. On my second visit at Burtons I got the Pappardelle Bolognese and that was also very good as well! Also there signature wings starter is SOOOO DELICIOUS I almost want to say the expression "it's to die for." I highly recommend getting that as a starter if you're struggling to pick one and are a chicken wing lover like myself! In all the times I've been to Burtons I never had an issue with their service it's quick and the waiter's have always treated me and my family fine. read more

This one pains me to write because we had a great dining experience, EXCEPT..... I called to make a reservation for a team lunch--party of 8. The consensus amongst the group to dine here was derived from Burton's Allergy Commitment as one of our team members has food sensitivities to gluten, dairy, and eggs. I have visited Burtons a number of times and, because of her, I was thrilled to share this culinary experience with her--hoping it would be a new 'go to' spot for her and her family. Anyway, back to the reservation. I called right as they were opening at 11:30. I was a little nervous about making such a last minute reservation the day of but I figured calling was better than nothing. No answer after a long wait so I hung up. To my pleasant surprise my phone rang and Will apologized for missing my call and asked how he could help me. Okay, that was cool! I made my reservation, he asked if I needed any GF menus and I said I would need one. He asked if there were any other allergies, I said 'gluten, eggs, and dairy'. He noted it and I am beyond impressed and excited at this point. We arrive at the restaurant, quickly seated. Our waitress immediately asks about allergies and our friend shares hers (gluten, eggs, dairy). It is noted again. My friend orders the GF bread service. It arrives as did the (wrong) order of wings that needed to be sent back for what we actually ordered. She was later asked to verify whether the GF buns for their sandwiches had egg. Yes, eggs so that was a hard pass. There were a couple more misses by our waitress where we had to correct her but thankfully we caught them before orders went in this time. Still, everyone is happy. I must say, the food was delish and we all left overall pleased with our experience. Fast forward. My friend calls a few hours later and says she's been ill since she left the restaurant. She called and it turns out their GF bread service DOES contain eggs!! C'mon, people!! All I'm saying is that if you advertise and brag about having an allergy commitment, you do all the things to APPEAR to be a safe space for people with allergies but don't Do the things you SAY you are going to do--what are you doing? #falseadvertising What if this was truly a life-threatening allergy? I'm not saying this is a bad place. I will likely return but ONLY because I don't have the same safety concerns that others may have. My hope is that my review helps the next person where food allergies, and even sensitivities, really matter. UPDATE: I received a phone call from the same (awesome) manager, Will. He apologized for our experience and seems very committed to finding any breaks in their service. I was accused of having a fake ID here and was spoken to like I was attempting to break the law. I was given a frankly BS reason for this behavior by someone who called themselves a manager. After venting to another restaurant nearby that this happened, the owner and I pulled out our IDs (mind you, both issued in 2024) and they looked exactly the same! Maybe someone needs to renew their TIPS certification. Will never go back. Since I can't figure out another reason why I was singled out with this ridiculous level of scrutiny, I urge other people of color to follow my lead. Wanted to check Burtons Grill out since I heard good things about it. We came here for a family lunch one afternoon. The restaurant was pretty empty so that wasn't a very good sign. I must say I was very impressed with how they are able to accommodate so many different food allergies and/or diets. And they definitely make it very known before they take your order. My daughter has a peanut allergy and her food came out on a different shaped plate to distinguish her allergy. The service was outstanding. The food was okay, not bad, but not something to write home about. I'm not sure I would go out of my way to come eat here again though. read more

I was pleasantly surprised and impressed at the quality of food, presentation of food, and exceptional service! The staff were friendly and attentive, but were not overbearing. This spot had a modern east coast feel, with upscale food presentation. It was very clean too! We started off with a side garden salad that had a mustard vinegerette, which was to die for. Although I would have preferred romaine, the ice berg was fresh with a nice crunch. There were red peppers and cucumbers that were evenly chopped. I had read reviews that mentioned you could choose a size for your dinner entree, but when I asked I was told it's no longer an option. I ordered the crab stuffed haddock and it was to die for. I'm actually craving it again as I wrote this! It came out as a large piece of haddock. This this thick, flaky, perfectly cooked white fish was topped with a large portion of crab. It wasn't heavy or too buttery, but literally a perfect combination. It was sat beautifully upon jasmine rice and thin string beans. I was a bit worried about the jasmine rice overpowering the fish, but it paired perfectly. This was around $25. My hubs ordered the special, which was an avacado, crab and swordfish entree. While the tastes I snuck were delish, I don't think it was as good as my crab stuffed haddock! At $34 I thought this was a bit pricy for the meal in comparison to mine. We had also asked for bread, but they don't serve it; however, the server said there was a cheesy bread we could order. I think it was off-menu. We were shocked when it came out - chunks of bread smothered in cheese in a small cast iron bowl and a side of garlic pesto dipping sauce. It was incredible - ask for this and you will be so happy!! My husband and I went for lunch and were absolutely delighted. My husbands steak was cooked to perfection with wonderful flavor and my scallops were to die for! Staff was very attentive and friendly! Great selection of New American dishes with specialty dietary offers available. We've dined here several times in the past - inside and out. We prefer the cosy outdoor seating as it is very comfortable, spacious, dog friendly, with a pergola structure that offers sufficient shade for most times of the day. This visit we ordered a dish we love and always order as an appetizer: Point Judith Calamari. It is a perfet version to a very common dish, made so by the addition of delicately fried crusted hot peppers with cherry pepper tartar sauce. Of course the calamari and squid portions were generous and more than enough to satisfy two hungry people (just as an appetizer though, not the whole meal). For a main course we chose Caesar salad with white anchovies and Crab crusted Haddock to split. Our order came split for us with two dishes each, which was a very nice touch, and complementary. Both main courses tasted fresh, delicately seasoned, and beautifully presented. The portions were ample and satisfying. We had just enough room to share a dessert, and boy did we pick a good one: their version of Key Lime pie was a feast for the eyes and the stomach! It is a common dessert, but this version was really outstanding. We highly recommend trying it. There is something for everyone on the menu, but it does not come at the cost of the food quality - quite an achievement which is why we think they deserve a five star rating. read more

We went without a reservation around 5 on a Saturday and were seated almost immediately, but definitely recommend making a reservation because it started to get busy shortly after we arrived. To the food. Burton's is a super option for people with food allergies. I am on a very restrictive diet right now, but their expansive gluten free menu still had several options that I could choose from. I got a Maxx burger, customized to my diet, and it was divine. Super juicy and the gluten free bun was actually tasty (a rarity)! My husband got a short rib grilled cheese and didn't put it down after the first bite. We also got wings as an appetizer; those were perfectly cooked and well seasoned. No room for dessert but the selections looked good. Mark, our waiter, was great. Very efficient, polite, and mindful of my food allergies. I appreciated his thoughtful questions to make sure that my order would come out right. .5 off for not having a gluten and dairy free dessert and for not having stevia (it's my go-to sweetener) but that's just a nit picky note.
