What makes a place 5-stars vs 4 are the little things. While I am so mad at myself that I did not take photos of what we were eating (we were just so caught up in the moment of eating and how fabulous the food (& wine ) was I just couldn't reach for my phone sorry) so a long read here- but basically I wanted steak tartare. Matt the manager happened to be at the hostess stand (Thurs 12/9) when we checked in to this very busy albeit " if you didn't have a reservation you weren't getting in" - whoa ... and he said "I'll ask the chefs" (I of course added (to no one in particular) "there's no way on this green earth I'm getting steak tartare as a special request this evening") Whelp, Chef Alex pulled it off and even took out time to stop by our table! We also ordered a dozen smorgasbord of all oysters on the menu, lobster macaroni and cheese as well as I believe a Mediterranean bowl. Our server's name was Avery and she too was such a delight. read more

Lovely location by the water! My family and I came here to celebrate a birthday, and since reservations need to be made weeks(?) in advance, we opted for a walk-in. We arrived around 4:30pm on a Saturday afternoon, and we were called back around an hour later at 5:30pm (in spite of being told that the wait would be around 1.5hrs). While waiting, we walked along the bay, watching the sun set - not a bad way to pass time at all. The area inside is spacious, with many tables and booths. At night, as expected of those high-end, upscale restaurants, the restaurant is dimly lit. The food was overall pretty great! We tried many dishes and appetizers. I think the best things we got were the lobster bisque and lobster mac - very creamy and indulgent. The ahi poke bowl I ordered was tasty and huge, though not the best poke bowl I've ever had - it could've been a bit more flavorful. The seafood pasta was tasty, but apparently a bit too salty after a while - it was packed with mussels and other seafood, which is great as many restaurants tend to be sparse with the non-pasta ingredients. On the other hand, the cocktails were not so great. The "Endless Summer" and "The Desi Arnaz" drinks tasted like syrup-y sweet soda with the lightest taste of alcohol. (Maybe good if you like your cocktails to be full of sugar...) The Mai Tai was quite strong and coconut-y, better than the aforementioned two. Service was fantastic! In spite of being quite busy all through our dinner, our server Kyle was very attentive. He had a really approachable and friendly demeanor, and was helpful in recommending menu items. Overall, enjoyable experience! We left satisfied, with many leftovers to take back - portions were generous! read more

The view of the ocean is amazing. You can get amazing shots if that's what you're after. The staff were all friendly. The food was pretty good. My friends and I ordered the lobster Mac n cheese and the lobster BLT. The amount of lobster in the entrees was a pretty decent amount. They weren't stingy with the lobster. They give you more seafood than other seafood places I've tried. Also the drinks were delicious. I forgot what my friends order but the next time I go I know I'll order a drink of my own next time. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was I was expecting the food to be a tad bit classier and less simple. Maybe it was the dishes we ordered but I would definitely go back to try their more pricy options to see if they have more of a wow factor. Can't beat the views at C Level and weekday lunch was tasty. All salads include choice of protein; I ordered the kale and squash salad and opted for blackened salmon, which was good but a small portion. Unsurprising, I suppose, since it's the same price as the chicken. Service was friendly, but I was disappointed that my take home dinner (Asian chicken salad bowl) lacked the requested utensils. This dish was a generous portion and traveled well; I would definitely recommend it for takeout. read more

This may be harsh, and perhaps one day I will have a change of heart. Arrived today just after 4pm, Friday. Asked if we needed reservations for Happy Hour, was told there was a 1.5 hour wait for a table for 2. Expected it may be tough to get a table but, really? Been doing HH for 25 years, and this is frustrating. Is there too few tables? No bar seating? The HH is 3:30 - 5:30. Needless to say, don't even think about it w/o a reservation, and really, a res for HH defeats the point imo. Since we Uber'd there, we did plan B, Cafe Sevilla, and there were tons of tables, excellent service, and delicious food and and drink specials. If you get skunked like us, try Cafe Sevilla instead. No stress! read more

this place was absolutely amazing! the service was great. we had told our server, suzy (sorry if i spelled your name wrong!), that it was my aunt's birthday. we ordered food & drinks, then she came along with a slice of strawberry shortcake for my aunt! the view was so pretty from where we were sitting. we started off with the crab cakes and calamari as an appetizer for a table of 4. the crab cakes were delicious! the lobster mac & cheese was to die for. super cheesy and lots of lobster pieces. i absolutely loved the seafood pasta. i tried a little bit of my cousin's and found myself going back for more. i heard the fish & chips were pretty good at this spot, so that's what me and my aunt got! it was so yummy, even the fries were good! i loved everything we got and i'm bringing all my friends here. this is a great restaurant if you're looking for a low key chill spot. read more

Went while visiting San Diego to celebrate a birthday. We were wanting someone waterfront. The view is fabulous, you see water and downtown San Diego. Everyone from the host to the manager are customer service oriented and helpful. Started with artichoke fritters, while not what we expected were good. I had the filet mignon and it was great quality, but next time I'll ask for the green butter on the side as it was too much for me. Overall, it was all we were looking for in dining in the water. read more

Okay, I treated myself. Excellent views of the San Diego skyline and with great food to match. I thought the service was excellent and I really have no complaints. I went out at a great time, it was happy hour. I got a lot of nice appetizers and a wonderful Baja fish taco main entrée and only spent $60 so I think I did pretty well. The red sangria is awesome and I'd recommend grabbing a beer while it's happy hour as well. This place is fantastic definitely will return. read more

Summarizes the food culture in San Diego quite well (aside from yummy Mexican, of course) - Very basic American food (lots of sandwiches, chips, and fries). But... the view and ambiance make up for it. Worth the splurge just to experience it once. Be sure to ask for a table right off the water in your reservation! read more

The hostesses here need to fired or get a talking to. We called in advance and they said the wait was 15 minutes and that we didn't need a reservation. Arrived and were told it's a 2 hour wait. The food was delicious and cooked just right. The ambiance was also amazing. But the hostess did not leave a good first impression and should really be trained better. read more

Really enjoyed our trip to San Diego & dinner at C Level. It gave us great views of the city skyline and the food was delicious and reasonably priced. We started out with the steak skewers as an appetizer, along with a glass of wine and a cocktail. For dinner, we got the salmon and ahi tuna, we finished with the cheesecake and everything was just so delicious. We ended our evening with Prosecco. We did make reservations in advance & got a perfect view! Highly recommend if you're looking for a date night dinner! read more

THE VIEW IS AMAZING. You can see downtown San Diego and the surrounding waters. It's super pretty and relaxing! The food is great! I ordered the linguini with clams and loved it. They are very generous with the clams! I couldn't see the noodles at first because there were so many clams. I wouldn't order this if you don't want to spend time removing the shells though because there's a lot haha My friend ordered the lobster sandwich. It came with the lobster bisque. He said it was very filling and flavorful. It was gigantic!! Tip: ask for the tables on the edge closest to the water! Such a beautiful view! read more

Came here a few times and the food and ambiance is always perfect . The last time I came here was a few weeks ago and they couldn't find the reservation ( they made it work and seated us) a day later my wife realized she made it at another restaurant with a similar name so I'm really happy that they still seated my family even though it was jam packed in there. We visited this place around Dec 2021 for a dinner. We had a window table by the water. The view was stunning. The lights from the City of San Diego were shining and reflecting from the water. We ordered the Lobster Mac and a burger. The food was also not bad, but just a little too creamy for our taste. Friendly services and good interior design, but fancy but comfortably casual. Overall, a place we will consider coming back or recommend to our friends, hence the 5 stars. read more

Dahling... this place screams San Diego. I had a great Saturday afternoon lunch at C Level.we were told the wait was 15minutes, but we were seated within 5 minutes. Our table was perfect! Ocean view.. beautiful view of downtown San Diego and the Coronado Bridge. I started with the mussels and littleneck clams. Omg.. the flavors in this dish were outstanding. The clams and mussels are saluted In Arugula, chorizo, caramelized onions, Pinot Grigio and a onion cream sauce. It's served with two pieces of toasted buttery brioche bread. I honestly wanted to pick up the place and drink the sauce... but.. this place has "cloth" napkins so um .. no.. LoL. All my clams and mussels were opened and cooked just right. That sauce has a lot of flavor. You will definitely find ways to finish it without picking up the plate and downing it. I also had the healthy skirts in fire salad. It's served with flat iron steak, arugula, avocado, cucumbers, blue cheese, and a spicy vinaigrette. Very good salad if you like spice and wanna eat lighter. Personally I think for the price, the salad could have been a little bigger, but overall, it was good. I also tried the blackened fish tacos. Again.. C Level was on point with the flavors. It's comes with 3 tacos and a side of black beans with a avocado cream sauce. The fish was mahi mahi and cooked just right. The pineapple salsa adds just the flavor combination. I would highly recommend C Level especially if you have family or Friends in town and are looking for a restaurant with good food and a great view. I take away 1 star because service was extremely slow. We were done with our Appetizer and waited about a half hour for our food to come out. Note: there's no Valet during the day so you can park anywhere in the lot. read more

It's a waste of bok choy honestly and the dish would be better with full bok choy pieces between the rice and egg. They couldn't even provide me with a side of bok choy because they pre-chop everything. As our dessert, we ended up splitting the Ultimate Sticky Bun. It is unfair how delicious this was! Condensed milk, strawberries, and lavender ice cream. Soo happy we decided to set one aside for dessert. There's a reason these sell out quickly!

A few hours later, I began experiencing an allergic reaction, confirming that I had been exposed to crustaceans--likely because the oysters were indeed fried in the same oil as the prawns. The following morning, I called the restaurant to verify their frying practices. Without mentioning my allergy, I asked the hostess if the oysters and spot prawns were fried in the same oil. She checked with the kitchen and confirmed that they were. When I then spoke with a manager to report the dangerous misinformation I had been given, the situation only worsened. The manager attempted to deflect, claiming the hostess was "confused" and thought I was asking about a gluten allergy--despite me never mentioning gluten. It felt as though the management was more interested in covering their tracks than addressing a serious safety failure. After a hesitant and insincere check on my well-being, the manager promised to investigate and call me back once the server was in. It has now been over a week, and I have heard nothing. If you have a food allergy, I would strongly advise against dining here. The lack of basic safety protocols, combined with a dishonest and dismissive management team, makes this establishment a significant risk.

We go back to verify this age limit, and it's there... one TINY line 2 scrolls down on the page, WAY beyond any of the information needed to just book a table, which is the only thing Open Table is used for. Complete waste of time for a poorly advertised bar with zero helpful staff on a dumpy street by the airport.

Our party of six ventured into the establishment known as C-Level. Its magnificent view was the first thing that greeted us, creating a backdrop that highlighted the harmony between exquisite dining and the beauty of nature. It deserves the highest praise. Our server, Anthony, was nothing short of exceptional. A consummate professional, his knowledge of the menu, quick wit and genuine care for our dining experience truly elevated the evening. Now, on to the food - let's start with the appetizers. The Coconut Shrimp was well-executed, the horseradish-apricot glaze and the accompanying mint and basil gave it a refreshing twist. The Wagyu Ribeye Tartare was, quite simply, a treat. The combination of avocado mousse and salt & pepper potato chips enhanced the taste of the quality beef, presenting a balanced palette of flavours. The French Onion Soup, a classic dish, was done justice with the use of a good quality beef broth and brandy. The gruyère cheese on top was perfectly browned, making it a superb rendition of this hearty dish. The Organic Baby Greens were a riot of colours and textures, brought together brilliantly by a balsamic vinaigrette that was sharp, tangy, and well-balanced. We also sampled the Shellfish Offerings - the Oysters on the Half Shell were fresh and succulent, reminding us of the ocean. The Seafood Platter was impressive, presenting a diverse selection of sea bounty that was both visually enticing and delectably fresh. For mains, we delved into the chef's special, the Healthy Skirts On Fire Salad. This was a spicy and sumptuous dish, the skirt steak was cooked to perfection, and the salad was fresh and bursting with flavours. The Lobster & Fontina BLT was an upscale take on the classic sandwich, featuring a succulent lobster and whitefish salad on a jalapeño-cheddar sourdough. The accompanying sherried lobster bisque was simply divine. The Lobster Mac 'n Cheese was a comfort food elevated - the lobster was tender, and the cheese sauce was creamy and flavourful. The Fish & Chips, a classic dish often subjected to misuse and mediocrity, here received a treatment worthy of its lineage. The Alaskan cod was crisply breaded, and the coleslaw and hushpuppies were solid accompaniments. The parmesan fries were a nice touch, adding a bit of the unexpected. The crowning jewel, however, was the Seafood Pasta. A lavish feast of seafood scattered across al dente pappardelle pasta, the dish was an opulent array of tastes and textures, rounded off by the punchy pesto cream sauce. All in all, C-Level provided a stunning view and an equally impressive dining experience. It's a commendable spot with great service, deserving of a solid 4-star rating. Was very excited to come here to celebrate my wife's bday and based on the Yelp reviews, thought this would be the perfect place. Reviews were on point, view and the food was amazing. Unfortunately, our server and her negative attitude towards us ruined it. After about a 30 min wait for a party of 2 to sit outside, we had an amazing view, great ambience with island live music playing. We were excited. When the busser came to give us water, he was also very friendly (forgot his name). When we let him know we were ready to order, he went to grab our server. All smiles turned to confusion as Nicole came to us and basically stereotyped us from the get-go. Her lukewarm/disappointment in getting a young asian couple was apparent as there was no warm greeting, no "what are you guys celebrating?" no "have you been here before, can I recommend something," etc. After taking our orders we probably saw Nicole twice thereafter. And the sad thing was, there was an older caucasian couple seated next to us, and Nicole was as bright as could be with them. Constantly checking on them (the second time she came by we had to get her attention while helping the couple next to us smh), small talking with them, etc. My wife was upset. Not wanting to ruin her bday, I didn't make it a big deal, but inside I was fuming. We did nothing wrong to her, ordered a bunch of food and drinks...it was disappointing. It was obvious she either straight up disliked asian people, or stereotyped a "young couple" that would tip a low amount (btw my wife and I have been servers in the past smh). Anyhow, obviously never coming back and we will tell all our friends and family how one server ruined our experience there. I am writing to express my profound disappointment following an appalling experience at C Level in San Diego on July 6. I've dined in countless establishments over the years, and I have never encountered such disrespect and unprofessionalism. During our visit, the bartender named Eric took our order. In the course of friendly conversation, my husband made a casual remark about the recent federal proposal regarding tax-exempt tips. Eric abruptly responded by saying he would no longer speak to us, then literally turned his back. We were stunned. What followed was even worse -- Eric began walking around the bar and telling his coworkers that we were bad people, clearly sharing negative comments with the hostess, servers, and other staff. It was humiliating to sit there and watch ourselves be gossiped about by an employee who was supposed to be serving us. I approached the manager to express my concerns, only to be told that Eric had already spoken to her, and she said that we were now "tainted" and should move to the sister restaurant in the same building if we wanted to enjoy a good meal. That kind of language is absolutely unacceptable and escalated the situation instead of resolving it. At that point, we chose to leave entirely. I followed up by calling the corporate office two days later. The representative I spoke with was kind and understanding, and I appreciated the acknowledgment. However, receiving a $100 gift card for what was a humiliating and disrespectful experience felt dismissive and inadequate, especially given the emotional impact and the lost trust in your brand. I expected better from a restaurant with C Level's reputation. I'm sharing this not to simply vent, but in the hope that it leads to better training, accountability, and a reminder that treating guests with dignity is non-negotiable -- even in the face of casual political conversation. read more

5 stars for the view! Unfortunately for me, a view does not fill my belly and the food was not so good. Had my waitress been attentive, well she would have noticed that I took one bite of my raw Kobe burger and left the rest, because, well it was RAW and i ordered it medium rare. I can eat a little raw, but this was so raw it almost jumped off my plate and ran away. A good waitress would have questioned why I did not eat my burger and maybe offered to bring me something else. I did not want to complain so I said nothing. Normally I would have said something, but I was in a funk and really did not want to make a fuss. The artichoke appetizer the waitress suggested was soggy and greasy. I ate one. We left the rest behind to be tossed. The Lobster bisque was it's saving grace. i loved the lobster bisque it was excellent with a juicy hunk of lobster in the middle. The fish and chip combo with hush puppies was served luke warm and stale. It was gross. The bloody Mary was nothing special, too tomato-y. As we sat there looking at the beautiful stormy skyline of this great city, well we watched the worst storm I have seen here come in. The waves started crashing up against the building the wind was blowing so hard that "stuff" from the ceiling was falling in our hair, food, and drinks. We thought the roof was going to blow off. Fearing for our life, we fled into hurricane like weather to our car. This place is truly amazing! I've had 2 experiences here so far and overall it's exceptional in every way. Let's talk about THE VIEW! You can see downtown, Coronado bridge, the navy base, sea lions, sail boats and soo much more. The view alone is worth the visit. And parking is free during the day, awesome perk! They have indoor and outdoor seating. Out of town friends love when we take them here! And we've had quite a variety of things on the menu so far. Seafood Bloody Mary - OMG you have to try it! Lobster Mac'n'cheese - yumm yumm, it has big chunks of lobster in it and is super cheesy Lobster bisque - wow, some of the best I've had Lobster and fontina BLT - huge toasty sandwich filled with lobster goodness and a side of lobster bisque Nut crusted Brie - gooey warm Brie and super addicting Fried artichoke hearts - good, but not the best I've had; I prefer bigger chunks and they served it in smaller bites which means more breading and less artichoke, served with aioli Coconut shrimp - really good, I was pleasantly surprised Everything crusted tuna - crusted, seared and tasty They have a great menu and food has always been on point. After picking up my friend from the airport, we were both starving and decided to check out yelp for some local places to eat, C-level popped up at the top with lots of good reviews so we decided to check it out. We were seated immediately upon entering by a friendly group of hostesses, and the view we had at our table was absolutely breathtaking. Right on the water with all of downtown San Diego in front of us. Our server, I believe his name was either Jason or Justin? ( younger guy, clean cut, brown hair) was very friendly, funny, and helpful while guiding us through the menu especially when it came to the wine list. I had an Italian wine that he recommended (superb) and my friend had a glass of Chardonnay. We started with the Brie cheese, which was delicious! My friend got the skirt steak salad and I got the lobster Mac and cheese with actual chunks of lobster in it! We ended up splitting everything, (portions are huge) and had lots to take home for later. But the real spotlight of the meal was the mudpie.... It literally towered over the table! Humm, where to begin? Delightful bowls, excellent beverages, above ordinary service, comfortable atmosphere, within reasonable cost, that basically totals it up. We were seated within about ten minutes, which was not bad at all considering the time of day we arrived. Soon my party of 5 had drinks in our hands and quickly after made it to round 3. Maybe someone made it to four before everyone else. We ordered a few dishes and shared our bounty with everyone. Sorry to my bf but I couldn't keep my fork off his dish. I think that he was enjoying the drinks more than he was liking the plates we requested. The waitress was really pleasant and relaxed going with my, on occasion loud group. We were out celebrating a new engagement. All of the food items that we put in orders for came out altogether and that's deff a great thing. Usually, I am the person to get the last plate. Nevertheless not here!!! I think next time I will bring my sisters to enjoy the food and less drinking. I'm pretty sure that if I get the same waiter as before they will have a great time with my group again. She was cutting up with us and just overall a great wait staff. it's 2022 -- how don't you have milk substitutes lol. anyways, moving on... started w the mussels and fried artichoke, probs the best part of our lunch-- can't complain there. for entrees i had the med bowl (it came out super pretty, great presentation) but overall 4/10. my mom had the skirt steak salad, both of our meals should have come with a spice level warning because we were both shocked. don't get me wrong i have a pretty high spice tolerance but i had to dish out the peppers they were using and leave them on the table. my mom said she sweat off all her makeup. we talking hotter than habanero hot. also my lentils felt undercooked. my mom was so stoked for desert, pineapple upside-down cake. she always raves about how they make them fresh.... well we got ours and she was so sad. it was very spongy and dry, like it was stale and not hot out of the oven. circling back when we first got there we tried to get a table outside, no tables so i settled for inside with the fruit flies. i've eaten here before and it was good, but this time was major meh Do: mussels + fried artichoke, order the pineapple upside-down cake fresh Don't: sit inside with the flies, order the mediterranean bowl read more

Ate here on a recent visit to San Diego and had the worst meal I can remember in the last 15 years. I can see why people like to come here - big portions, nice views, friendly servers. We had all of that, but the food was inedible. Started with fried artichokes, which should have been called fried batter with artichokes. Made barely edible by scraping off most of the fried batter. Other starters were the lobster bisque, which was dreadful, and French onion soup, which had a huge layer of bread on top and very little soup or flavor. We had a roast beef French dip sandwich, with incredibly fatty and gristly beef in a pretty nice roll, with peppers and cheese. The jus served on the side tasted like canned beef broth that had all flavor surgically removed. I could barely finish half. We also had their fried crab cakes, which were mostly bread with some overworked slivers of crab thrown in, all deep-fried to a dark crisp. Simply inedible. Our server was very nice and great waterfront views made the experience not a complete disaster. This is probably a decent place for drinks, but if you care anything about good food, you should avoid it like the plague. read more
