Now this is what you call a proper happy hour! We went during their HH on a Friday afternoon and not only were we seated inside with an amazing view, they were super attentive and made sure we were able to order from all menus. Their HH menu features bites and drinks and I enjoyed how the food ranged from shared plates to individual tastings. If you're staying at the Hilton on Harbor Island they also offer free transportation to here which was amazing. This is a tried and true establishment on Harbor Island and I loved the entrance and front landscape. The staff were all wearing white button downs and constantly checking in. My husband and I came here to celebrate our 8 year anniversary and I thought overall the food was delicious 5/5 but the service was a bit lacking. For starters my husband let open table (reservations) know we were celebrating and to have a good seat for us outdoors and we initially got sat in the middle in between a lot going on outside where we couldn't even see the view. Maybe we should have been more clear but the issue was resolved after we asked specifically for an ocean view table but the front said it'll be a 30 minute wait and we were happy to do so since we're coming from out of state. For drinks I ordered the mai tai and my husband got an IPA. Then for our meals I order the lobster & fontina blt which I thought was good but they filled the sandwich less practical and for more presentation since the filling was pushed to the front and it kept spilling making it hard to eat so I ate it with a knife and fork. My husband ordered the seafood pappardelle pasta and it was delicious. The seafood tasted fresh but the bread was a little stale. The ambiance was good, it's always amazing to be near the water and the view outdoors at night was breathtaking. But I don't know if it was just because they were closing and wanted to hurry but they kept slamming and clinking the dishes together when putting them away at the bar area behind us. We had friends in town for our wedding and decided to meet here for happy hour before going back home and I am glad we discovered it. There were plenty of options of appetizers to enjoy with the table as well as cocktails. They also had a few beers and wines on happy hour so it was nice to have a variety of things to pick from. My favorite items were probably the coconut shrimp and the calamari. Any seat in this place is a great seat whether you are inside or outside. Parking have to valet since the self parking is limited. The view of the San Diego port is breathtaking and the outdoor seating during the summer was amazing! Food that we got was the salmon with vinaigrette cucumber salad with squid linguini and friend got a sangria with Mac and cheese. The wagyu infused old fashion is delicious. We had fun chatting with our guests next to our tables. We also got the banana, white champagne and raspberry sorbet and I must say the banana flavor is growing on me. Cocktails had great flavors and the Bloody Mary came with a veritable salad poking up out of the glass (2x shrimp, peppercini, celery, +++). Sangria was just OK. My entree: lobster mac n' cheese local organic greens, candied walnuts, fresh herb vinaigrette Absolutely fantastic! Gooey mac 'n cheese with a geneous amount of lobster meat. Two of my favorite things in marital bliss! A huge portion too! I was able to get two additional lunches out of the leftovers. The little salad with it was good too. We came here for dinner while on Harbor Island in San Diego, and while the location is beautiful and the service was excellent, the food unfortunately didn't match the experience or price point. I ordered the Parmesan Chicken Piccata, and it was underwhelming. The chicken filet was very small--about half the size of my palm--and not what you'd expect for the cost. The broccolini was overcooked, with some pieces burnt on the ends, so I could only eat a few bites. The mashed potatoes tasted like they had been sitting under a warmer for a while--not fresh. My husband ordered the New York Strip, and our friend ordered the center-cut filet mignon (butterflied). The red wine glaze on the strip was good, but both steaks lacked seasoning overall, which was disappointing--especially for dishes that should really stand out. He did enjoy the mashed potatoes more than I did, though. The drinks were good--we had a Chardonnay, a Strawberry Fizz, and a Mai Tai, and those were all well-made. The standout of the night was our server SAUN. She was amazing--attentive, professional, and checked on us at just the right times without being overbearing. What really stood out was how she made recommendations--she didn't just tell us what she liked. Instead, she asked thoughtful questions (like whether we prefer tart or sweet) and tailored her suggestions based on that. That level of service is rare and really appreciated. One thing that caught us off guard was that when we tried to place a to-go order, we were told the kitchen was already closed around 9:30 PM. For a restaurant in this area, that felt unusually early and a bit inconvenient. I also haven't been here in a couple of years (last time was for my husband's birthday), and I noticed the menu is pretty much exactly the same. I'm not sure if that's meant to be consistency, but it honestly feels like it could use a refresh. Overall, the biggest thing this place really has going for it is the view. There were only 2 of us, so they were able to seat us at a "partial view" table which was absolutely fine. I've been wanting to try this restaurant for a couple years and now that I'm back in SD I was able to. Upon arrival when we checking in for our reservation there were 4 hosts and they were all standing there awkwardly and staring at us. They didn't greet us till a few moments passed with neither party saying anything. Our server was great, attentive, and friendly. We got two cocktails and they were both really good. We started with the Wagyu Tartare and it was okay the potato chips were overly salted, stale, and we could barely taste the tartare. We also got the Wagyu burger and Lobster Mac n Cheese. The burger was really good! We would get that again, as well as the Parmesan fries that came with it. The fries were cooked and seasoned perfectly, crispy on the outside and soft in the center. The mac n cheese was good, we could definitely taste the lobster, we thought it could have been seasoned more, it lacked over all flavor. The ambience of the restaurant was nice and intimate, with a good view of the bay and downtown. Nothing stood out enough for me to want to come back unfortunately. Looking at the prices beforehand, I was worried that the food would be lacking in quantity or taste, but after my experience, I think that this restaurant is good value. The seafood pasta was my favorite. At first, I thought that pesto pasta would be super basic, but it ended up being more of a pesto cream sauce. It wasn't super heavy and the variety of seafood was a plus. The Lobster Mac and Cheese was very rich! Im glad that I was able to take bites of just lobster. Other places incorporate the Lobster into the Mac and Cheese too much, where you barely get any meat and just lobster flavor. The fish and chips were good and the fries were crispy. Parking is valet starting in the late afternoon. But I came on a weekday for lunch so it was normal self-parking in the lot. Service was okay. I made a reservation and we got seated in a reasonable amount of time. However, we had to wait a while to order, since our server wasn't around and the other staff members were less attentive. We tried waving to them a couple times (to two staff walking by and to a staffer who stands in one place and looks at the tables). Also, my party had a birthday, and we specified that on the reservation. There was no acknowledgment of the birthday, so no gesture or dessert by the way. Loved this restaurant from start to finish. First we were greeted by staff and brought to our table outside. It was a beautiful day overlooking the water. Although bright outside, the shade covering was fantastic. We started with: Iceberg salad with crab meat-- sounded very good but not as great as I expected. Kale salad- I'm not a fan of kale salad but this was surprisingly my fave dish. There sweet potatoes were cooked nicely crispy and soft inside. Ceviche- delish! Artichoke- amazing!!! Crispy on the outside cheesy artichoke inside wow ! Bloody Mary's-- good, presentation could have been better. 5-stars for the view I made a reservation 30 minutes before sunset - and although I couldn't see the actual sun set, I could see the reflection on the skyline buildings which was stunning. You may want to wear layers as they don't turn the heat lamps on until later in the evenings and the temperature is a bit cooler by the water. 5 stars for the QR-code on the coaster - if you Sign up for their rewards you can apply the 10 dollar code to your meal when before you pay for your check. 5 stars for my server. Also I couldn't snag a table by the window - I would have had to wait an additional 15 minutes. 4 stars for the lobster bisque- it was delish! 2 stars for the 5% charge on your bill on top of your meal. 2 stars for the coconut shrimp - it was dry and not flavorful. Also the vegetable portion it sat on top of was not tasty either. Also the tables are too tall for the chairs so you feel like you need a booster seat. Oh my gosh, where do I even begin with this restaurant. We made late reservations at 8 pm, and were immediately seated. The hostess said we came at a great time, which was definitely the case! We were seated at the BEST table in the entire restaurant, with an unobstructed view of downtown San Diego. Absolutely SPECTACULAR! The view wasn't the only thing that was spectacular! The food was incredible, and I mean that with every fiber of my being! We ordered the Brie to start. It was oooey gooey inside, and paired perfectly with the jalapeño jam and crostinis. There's even a pear salad for a nice palate cleanse after finishing the appetizer. For the main courses, I ordered the cedar plank salmon with squid ink linguine. After I took a bite, I literally couldn't even speak. The flavors were pure PERFECTION. The salmon was perfectly crisp on the outside, and flavorful and juicy on the inside. The linguine was the star of the show though, boasting a pasta sauce that is out of this world. I can't even describe it. It's slightly creamy, full-bodied, and peppery. The sauce paired with the squid ink pasta was to die for. I will think about this meal for years to come haha. My husband ordered the seafood pappardelle, which was ENORMOUS and full of seafood. Mussels, white fish, scallops, shrimp... it was all there. The pasta is a wide noodle, and everything is layered with their pesto sauce. He loved it a lot and had to REALLY try to finish it. So come with an empty stomach! My husband also got a gingerbread old fashioned. The gingerbread flavor was very mild, but the cocktail itself was superb! Once they did, they both had water concentration as if they had been sitting at the bar for a while. When the drinks cost +$18, that's very disappointing that it took almost 30 min to get them. I really liked how they offered the option to swap out fries/chips for a salad instead. Recently I have gotten tired of eating through a mound of fries with my fish and chips. Having the side salad option instead is a total game changer. You leave feeling nowhere near as heavy/greasy and you still get to enjoy some nicely battered and fried fish. They do a great job here with the panko crust! Some places try to do the beer battered version and you can just taste the beer notes on the fish which are not very pleasant. I booked this place as a nice belated birthday dinner for myself and a fellow Gemini friend. Our significant others came along as well to treat us out! My Seafood Pasta was a bit on the oily side (since the base was Pesto). But what made up for it was that there was a good portion of seafood mixed in! It definitely can be shared. (8/10). From what I heard from my group, the BLT salad was good. My boyfriend added the chili flakes from my pasta to give it a kick. Our one friend said the lobster mac n cheese had little to no flavor so she did have to ask for some hot sauce. After that she loved her dish. Overall we'd rate this place a 8/10.
