Good food & Great service~ The food was yummy but I'd suggest adding roasted garlic into the omelet would make it tastier! Outdoor seating & front parking is always a PLUS! As we have our dog with us all the time and visiting your restaurant for the first time allowed us to have a breakfast date which we haven't been able to do in a while & it was nice to sit down and talk. The staff was incredibly friendly and created a warm, family-oriented atmosphere - I believe we met all of their hosts and even the owner Alex who introduced himself and spoke with us. We truly appreciated being checked on, although the only thing I'd advise is that once your customers get their food and you have asked if everything is OK 1-2 times, to please allow your customers to enjoy the food.. We were approached almost every 2 minutes by different hosts, the owner and another maybe co-owner Fidel - constantly being asked if everything was OK or if we needed more coffee which was asked in total about 8 times (not exaggerating as we were asked by different people lol). We felt as if we were being monitored the entire time and couldn't enjoy our time to eat and talk. Again this is just a feedback & advice to allow your customers to enjoy the food and the company or family they are with. If they are not looking for staff or any help -- Maybe check back every 10 minutes. We drive by this cafe so many times we finally got to try it. I heard Cabrilla Park Cafe used to be in another location, fire broke and they ended up moving to this location. The inside is nice, not as large as I thought it would be but still plenty of tables. We were seated right away even on a busy Sunday morning. We ordered French toast, biscuits and gravy, and chicken fried steak. Order didn't take too long. The biscuits and gravy was disappointing. Seems like Hawaiian rolls instead of biscuits. Super soft, broke apart easy. The gravy was a bit salty, and not much meat, looks like bacon instead of sausage. French toast was delicious, nicely caramelized on the outside, not too soaked in the egg mixture. I asked for strawberries and cream but got strawberries and whipped butter with it. Not too angry still tasted good. The chicken fried steak was good, huge plate, huge serving. Overall the experience was good, service was good, they came to refill our coffee too. read more

Highly recommend Cabrillo! I came here on a Sunday at 8 and there were only a few other diners. If you've been to Skilletz in Niles or been in this general area, the ambiance is just like that - family run, homey vibes. The service was exceptional, the man at the front and our waitress checked in multiple times asking about the food and for more coffee. They were very inviting and warm in general! Our waitress recommended the carnitas omelette and it was great. There was so much food that I only finish half of everything: the eggs, avocado, sour cream, potatoes, and my buttered sourdough. Everything was delicious, great texture and seasoned well (especially the pico, which was bright with lemon). Potatoes were crispy and soft inside, delicious. Wish the omelette was a bit more fluffy, salty, and buttery but it was literally huge anyways and tasted great especially with the carnitas. Sourdough was good, toasted perfectly and nice and soft with the butter on it. There were two slices with my order - portions were just huge here so I'm very happy. Our group had the omelets and it was sort of bland. Not very memorable or delicious. I would most likely not return to this location because the food wasn't very good. When I go to the restaurant or cafe for brunch the primary item I order is steak and eggs. At diners or restaurants I've eaten different cuts of steak. As I looked at the menu I was delighted to see tri tip and eggs. I ordered that item and requested the steak to be cooked medium rare. Instead of home fries I choose hash brown to be cooked well done. For toast I chose an English muffin. I ordered Buffalo chicken strips as an appetizer. The first item to arrive was the Buffalo chicken strips. The chicken strips were really sauced as I was worried if the breading was soggy. There was a slight crunch. The next item was the tri tip and eggs. The hash brown had the golden tint that reminded me of hash browns at fast food eateries. Lately at diners or cafes when I order steak to be cooked medium rare the steak arrives as medium or medium well. Unfortunately the tri tip at Cabrillo Park Cafe was grilled medium well. In addition the tri tip wasn't flavorful. I used A-1 Steak Sauce to dip the tri tip steak in. The French toast and breakfast burrito are great - but my lunch favorites the Hawaiian bbq sand. and the Philly cheese are my go to. And they will serve them any time of day! The service is always top notch! It's a family owned and run place and everyone is always so nice, and the food always comes out FAST! My kids love coming here and I actually get to relax when I bring them here. Stumbled upon this place and ordered the ham and cheese omelette. Personally, it was okay, nothing special. There were bits of ham in the omelette and I wish the ham slices were bigger. The cheese was also outside of the omelette instead of inside which was different and as a result, I didn't get an equal taste of both the ham and cheese together. TLDR: Local cafe with potato pancakes (latkes)! My wife and I LOVE potato latkes. Not only are they healthier than hash browns, they taste better too. At least it's unusual! It's hard to find them in the supermarket, so it was a total delight to see them served here! My wife ordered the Ham Pancake Breakfast. That's the one that comes with the potato pancake, and half a croissant. I'm not going to make the same mistake I did with a previous review. My wife THINKS the croissant resembles the ones sold at a large bulk warehouse store..... Anyway, it also comes with a delicious cinnamon butter, but we had that on the side, as my wife is allergic to it. The ham breakfast... was not prepared in the way we expected. We thought it would be similar to Peg's Breakfast (in Reno), where they give you a big slice of ham steak and some eggs on the side. Instead, what she got was some kinda scramble, with eggs, cheese and diced ham all mixed together. It wasn't bad tasting, but when the idea doesn't meet reality... well it can be a bit jarring. She didn't recover from it. I had a breakfast burrito. It's my go-to breakfast dish, if they ever have it. I really really liked the way they did it. It was pan seared on both sides, so the outside tortilla was toasted and crunchy. Inside the filling was fluffy and abundant. The one thing i didn't like was the salsa. It seemed to be just Tapatio-like salsa. It was very liquidy and tangy... but I was EXPECTING a more chunky home-made salsa, with fresh herbs. Ahh well... UNlike my wife, I recovered and just ate the burrito without the salsa. The coffee was surprisingly strong. It wasn't "coffee-flavored" water. I think given the fact this is a local hole-in-the-wall, we will forgive some of the shortcuts they used. I saw that the owner really helps run the place... getting food, taking orders. It's good to see a hard-working family make it. I really like the variety and unique things they offered to the breakfast scene. It's too bad it's a bit out of the way for me, or else I would come here more often. But as it's quite a trek, it's doubtful we'll be back. But if you are in the area in the early morning, this place is definitely worth a visit! read more

Si! was the answer. a waitress came by to confirm my order. seating inside is a mix of booths and small tables. outside seating inside a tented section. walls had pics & artifacts displayed. walls painted dark red. faint music in background. offerings: breakfast, Mexican breakfast/food, burgers, sandwiches, waffles, French toasts, combos, benedicts, omelets, sides, salads, pastas, appetizers. eats: menudo (15.99) mix of hominy, tripe, beef feet. -white onions, chili pieces, dried oregano on side. -red broth was filled with hominy, tender pieces of tripe & a partial cow foot. -bowl was fulfilling, probably amongst best eaten. haven't had it recently. -manager asked me did I want it packaged to go.
