solid 3.5 stars. Drive by all the time, it's a good shortcut and quieter route to Gastown, but I digress. Parking's fine on this one way street, metered parking on both sides. Tried their sticky toffee pudding, and while it's good if you've got a sweet tooth like me, but for 2 average-size pieces and overkill on the caramel, for $7--I just prefer Enigma in Point Grey. At least that comes with ice cream and some fruit lol. but it's in a cool takeout container. Rest of bakery is actually kinda cool, open-style so you see everything they're doing. For the area, it's just not something to keep on going on a regular basis to hang out or to take a stroll w/ a date, that's all. But product is fresh and friendly service. Quite spacious. read more

Cute little bakery located on the edge of Gastown. The whole block smells delicious as you walk towards it. I usually get a slice of the London fog cake and the chocolate coconut cake. You always get a generous slice and the cakes are a perfect balance of moist/sweet. I tried their s'mores cookies yesterday and I'm literally addicted. Two soft chocolate chip cookies sandwiching a gooey chocolate/meringue filling. I don't even wanna know how many calories are in these! read more

i like their london fog cakes. Other than that, everything else's quite average.

I called them not too long before closing really wanting a cake from here for my cousin's birthday the next day. They usually require a 48 hour's notice but took my order anyway for noon pick up the next day. I was wow'd by their customer service. The person who took my order was very courteous even with the short notice and the cake I received was beautiful. Whoever made it has very generous hands. They couldn't even close the box properly (I'm not complaining). The taste was just what I love, buttercream frosting, not sweet, sponge cake, little sweet. Frosting could be a little bit lighter, but I have found my new go to bakery. My experience with them was nothing but full of joy from the phone call to the drive home with their box sitting next to me. read more

Great atmosphere , not a great location. near the east side of town... the carrot cake itself is great, but the cream cheese frosting was lacking flavour, it was very watered down. You get large slices, thats a bonus. I also tried a cookie/cheesecake tart. Lacking flavour again. The salted caramel brownie, I was excited to give that a try. Of all the items this was my least preferred. It had no taste at all. The lavender mocha cake is ideal if you prefer your desserts to be less sweet. staff has been rude more times than not. Especially the one working the front cash. I probably would not return to this location. read more

A chic working pastry shop on the gritty edge of Gastown. A few places to sit inside in close proximity to the open kitchen where several pastry chefs quietly scurry around making delicious and intricate treats.... Of course it's a challenge to pick only one or two treats, but they're all amazingly delicious so you can't really go wrong..... read more

Edited: Finally I was able to try their London Fog cake after the owners contacted me about my previous experience with them. I had ordered the London Fog cake with butter cream. Very delicious. They had suggested to leave the cake out for about an hour before serving. Please remember to do so! I wasn't able to as I brought it to a restaurant, yet it was still delicious. I would recommend their London Fog cake! The earl grey layer was so amazing. To place orders, I would suggest emailing them rather then calling. They are very quick to respond to emails. Thank you to the owners, Slavita and Eleanor, for reaching out to me after my initial bad experience. ********** So unhappy with this place. Friday 530pm rolls around. My friend goes to pick up the cake. No cake for pickup on Friday, this order is for Sunday. ARE YOU JOKING ME? Friday was mentioned 3 times during my phone calls with them.. They had no cake whatsoever near the one I had originally ordered. They offered us a cake that was already cut for a discounted price. So unacceptable. They left us without a cake with a few hours till the party. Not only am I so unhappy that they messed up my order for the cake, but it is so unacceptable to offer an already cut cake. read more

This is by far the best bakery that I have been to in Vancouver. Unfortunately I no longer live in the lower mainland but still make it to Cadeaux with every visit. I am a huge carrot cake fan and order it wherever I go. This was if not the best, certainly one of the best that I have ever had. Not sure what cinnamon buns someone else is commenting on, but the bacon and maple ones are the best I've ever had. The croissants, cookies, and salted caramel brownies are excellent as well. I only wish that I lived closer so that I didn't waste so much time traveling to Cadeaux. read more

Loved the lavender almond milk latte, bourbon lime truffle, and almond crossaint. Friendly service, decent prices. Great ambiance and decor. The only caveat - no wi-fi or outlets! I needed to work on a paper and would have spent more $ and time there if either of those things were available. read more

Best cakes in Vancouver! We have ordered birthday cakes from Cadeaux twice, and each time they have been perfect The entire process from ordering a cake to picking it up is a breeze, and the cakes are both beautiful, and delicious. At our party last weekend almost every guest asked where the cake was from, and either asked for a second piece, or took one home with them. Chocolate cake tasted like rich chocolate, and the vanilla buttercream was not overly sweet, and had pronounced real vanilla flavour. The perfect centrepiece for my birthday party. Will be my go to for all parties from now on. read more

I was recommended this place by a friend, and couldn't have imagined a more perfect place to order my wedding cake. The price was extremely reasonable for a serving of approximately 60 people and the cake turned out exactly as I had hoped. I ordered a two tier (9 layers - 5 on the bottom, 4 on top) carrot cake with butter cream frosting and in between each layer was an apple compote and caramel drizzle. My guests loved it so much, there was none left for the next day. My husband and I wanted our cake to not only look pretty, but taste delicious. I think Cadeaux Bakery delivered just that! This bakery is utterly charming - I haven't fallen in love with any bakeries from around the city yet, and this one is just so inviting. It's been open for about two months but I'm sure word will spread about it quickly. With its snowy white interior and fresh flowers displayed on the shelves and on the tables, it's quite reminiscent of Parisian bakeries. They sells coconut macaroons, cakes, cupcakes, cookies. I tried the salted caramel and cheesecake brownie as well as the goat cheese croissant. I could actually taste the salty caramel topping and the croissant pastry was perfectly flaky and toasty. The open concept design of the bakery means every part of the kitchen is exposed for the visitor to see. The only problem is the reception in the shop isn't the best so the debit/credit connection can go out of service. Bring cash to be on the safe side. I work close by and look forward to trying all the other treats - it's priced fairly similarly to Coffeebar, maybe a bit less expensive, but I think the treats are a bit more special here. read more

Finally came to Cadeaux Bakery after hearing so much about their cakes. We came on an early afternoon and the shop was empty, so it was nice to have the whole place to ourselves. We order two drinks and a few desserts. I had their London fog and it was good. For desserts, we had a London fog cake, a blueberry panna cotta, and a Paris Brest. The London fog cake which I was looking forward to turned out a bit disappointing. I'm not sure if it is because they cut me the end piece, but there was too much cream yet the cake was still a bit dry. I couldn't really taste the "London fog" in the cake too. However the Paris Brest was quite tasty. The pastry was light yet had a good crust, and the cream in between wasn't overly sweet. The blueberry panna cotta was not bad, it wasn't as smooth as I preferred but I enjoyed the actual blueberries added in it. read more

I was on the search for a slice and I have to say I usually end up at black rook on Hastings, but today I strayed and let me tell you it was worth it. I went to Cadeaux bakery today and ordered there 'salted' caramel brownie and there 'salted' pecan truffles, my first thought when I took a bite out of the brownie was there isn't a hint of salt in this, how is this a salted caramel brownie? and so I moved on to the 'salted' caramel truffles and there wasn't even one grain of salt in any of the six truffles and the caramel had an awful burnt alcoholic taste. I sarcastically said to my boyfriend 'these truffles are so salty' and he took a bite out of one and said this isn't salty at all here taste mine and then he realized I was being very sarcastic. Please do not call your brownie or truffle salted caramel if there isn't even salt in the recipe. Other then that the brownie itself tasted like it was made out of box mix and the peach muffin my boyfriend chose tasted dry and average, I would not recommend this bakery its not worth going into the area for this subpar quality. I love salted caramel and went there specifically to try there 'salted' caramel fair and it was awful, never again. read more

Me and my wife were walking downtown on this ugly wet day and this place caught our eyes so walked into Cadeaux bakery, Saw all these treats and then we noticed there was a couple at the front of the line in the bakery with a dog on the leash and we both kind of looked at each other and said "is this allowed", then this girl with tattoos came from behind the counter to front and started petting and playing with the dog, it was jumping all over her and to our surprise, she went back behind the counter and started serving customers without washing her hands, we were just repulsed about what we saw and walked out. There were other people in there bakery and I don't no how they didn't feel sick after seeing that while eating there treats, its one thing to let animals in the store witch is sick enough where food is sold and another to play with them and serve customers with out cleaning yourself. we will never go back, don't even care if its good, first impressions are a big thing to us and that blew it.
