Pho Never combo pho
John T.

My last visit was 7 years ago and I didn't leave a review. Here's what happened during my visit today. Ordering system is easy as you specify with the host if dine in or take out. You place your order and pay right away. I guess this deters the dine and dashers. It's nice to be able to choose to eat in a booth where you can enjoy the meal quietly. Decor of the place is nice and the place is clean. They do give a good amount of tripe and brisket; sadly the broth is lacking in depth and the broth is not piping hot. Their broth is also a little sweet. They use little MSG as confirmed with staff/employers. I bit into 1 of the meatballs and the temperature was cold in the center! It's as if they get them straight from the fridge and flash Blanche them because usually meatballs are supposedly simmering on the top of the pho pot. I'm disappointed to say this, but I cannot certify the "Pho" at the establishment. I'm being nice with the 3 stars to not drastically affect the establishments rating. Almost 20 dollars for a large bowl of pho... I could only imagine if I paid lunch special price... could my meal been worse? I still tipped 20% even with the unpleasant meal today. I hope the chefs have a thermometer to check their product before releasing to future patrons regarding these issues.

why did I not come sooner? Authentic pho , beautiful deco and feels homey, Asian flare. Met the owner, Sandy and super sweet . I took the pho home and my daughter loves it. She said " I haven't been to Vietnam yet, but I would imagine that's what their pho would taste like." Definitely going back.

Ordering, paying, and tipping all before you get your food. HUGE RED FLAG!!
Michael B.

My father in law insisted we come here because he said it was really good. He also failed to mention that this was years ago. As soon as we entered we saw a sign saying you had to pay before being seated. Red flag!! Paying before you even had a taste of the food rang alarms in my head. Asking for a tip before service has even been rendered is the most ridiculous thing ever. Alot of places do this and it needs to be changed. Tip after services have been rendered. The workers here at least the 4 that I saw were all extremely young. They looked like they all belong in high school. They were very slow in anything they did. During my whole time here I the resturant the phone kept going off and they ignored it quite a few times. The inside of the resturant nice and clean, no complaints from me. My wife used their bathroom but the door did not lock so I had to stand outside which is annoying and not suitable for any ladies wanting to use the restroom. The food took quite a long time to come out. We sat down for awhile before the appetizers came out. 2 of us got the pho lunch special and it comes with a fried veggie eggroll. It took 15 minutes just to get 2 veggie spring rolls which were fresh and hot. When taking a bite out of them the inside was just mushy veggies and tasted like they were soaked in soy sauce. Then the spring rolls came out and they looked ok. After tasting they were decent. My only complaint about them is there wasn't enough peanut sauce, just a little dish not enough for all of our rolls. My wife ordered the combination fried rice. It came and it looked nice and hot. Upon tasting it for myself it tasted extremely salty. The proteins in it (Chinese sausage, shrimp, chicken) were almost inedible with the exception of the Chinese sausage. The shrimp was extremely over cooked and the chicken was cut thin and wide, like jerky and was just as dry as jerky. My FIL and I ordered the combination pho. The pho was extremely lackluster and was missing some components commonly in combo pho (pho dac biet) it was missing tendon, flank and meatballs (sometimes not always in pho dac biet) The meat to noodle ratio is extremely terrible, had at least 8 bites of noodles left and no more meat. The broth was so bland no flavor at all except for the over abundance of sweetness from the sugar. Being part vietnamese myself I love alot of pho whether its super delicious or just ok. This pho is not even in the "just ok" realm its terrible, its a disgrace to pho everywhere. Even if you are the type to put Hoison/Sriracha in the broth it will not save it. FIL says this place uses to be good but I guess things have changed since his last visit all those years ago. You could pick almost any other pho restaurant and I am 99.99% sure it would be better than here. If you value your time, money, and taste buds please stay clear of this place by any means necessary.

I've been coming to Pho Ever in Gardena for over 10 years, and it's still one of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants! Their food is always delicious and consistent. I usually order the rare steak pho, but this time I tried the tofu banh mi and the sampler spring rolls -- both were fresh and so tasty. The servers are friendly and welcoming, and I love their comfortable booth seating. Unfortunately, they forgot our order, so we ended up waiting about 50 minutes for our food.

For starters the atmosphere as soon as you walk in feels a bit like home. The decor is really unique and in a way transports you to a new place! The booths are really cool and give you and your party a sense of privacy and VIP access. The customer service was really great. Very kind, honest and friendly. The food was 10/10!!! I've never had a Ban Mi like this before!! So so flavorful. The meat was tender and juicy. The vegggies were crisp and crunchy. The bread was toasted to perfection make it possible to dip in the side dish. Holy cow this was good! My daughter usually orders the chicken pho which was delicious but she ended up finishing the second portion of my ban mi after trying it for the first time. Love that she tried something new! We all enjoyed our masks very much, and made plans to return in two weeks to try other dishes! If you're ever in the area I highly recommend. Sandy is an amazing leader doing great things with the place!

I literally haven't seen a lunch special for $14 ever since I've moved to LA five years ago. I couldn't believe it and had to take a picture of the sign to let my friends know I've been indulging myself in various Vietnamese restaurants in LA and the South Bay, and by far, this one stood out as one of the most authentic. It's a no frills restaurant aka not much ambience, but the food makes up for it. All the servers are nice and sweet, a little shy because they're early twenties though!

What we got at 12:10pm 8/18 see next pictures of what it normally looks like!!!! This was not mild

Unfortunately we loved this place but as of today NO Thank you. We had an incorrect order and the restaurant staff refused to replace it! We have ordered here a ton of times and I have receipts. But today was an insult! grabbed lunch for myself and hub got the food and it was tasteless & not mild brisket pho isn't clear like chicken broth and if you know you know the brisket pho is dark red and flavorful. We tasted it and said ohhh no waited until they reopened. Wait staff refused to replace it and offered chili oil. Also accused us of eating the food. Like wait are you SERIOUS it's terrible. This sucks because I had a great convo with the owner manager! Unfortunately handling loyal customers this way isn't ok! Sad we will have to move on! Good luck

Ph Oxtail. Flavorful!
Julio V.

Just enjoyed a pretty good bowl of Pho at this location! We got the spring roll sampler, shrimp and oxtails phos. All were great! Really enjoyed the pork spring rolls and the peanut sauce. Flavorful in the soups. Unexpectedly sweet but goes well with the spiciness. Oxtail wasn't fall-off-the-bone tender but still pretty flavorful. The location has a traditional look and feel. A bit smaller than expected but we got sat right away. Service was good and attentive. Will be returning to try other bowls!

Fat from two pieces of oxtail
Jenine Y.

The pho here is decent. Soup had a good flavor. I ordered the oxtail and they left way too much fat on the pieces. Otherwise it was tender. The service was great.

Came in to: 1)satisfy a pho craving 2)catch up with a friend As someone who is picky about their pho ever since trying various pho restaurants in different countries, this did it for me. A broth that's rich, but not overpoweringly so; and meat that is cut expertly thin. The meat's texture pairs perfectly along the soft noodles. Served with classic pho toppings, it was a bowl that left me wanting to come back ASAP. Also the ambiance is very "hidden-gem-esque" with tables sectioned just partially out of sight to give the vibe of some privacy! Great for having bonding conversations over a bowl of hot soup! Went in around dinner time on a weeknight and it was not too busy. The staff was prompt in getting us seated in a nice spot and checked in occasionally to ensure we were taken care of. I can't wait to go back!

Delicious food and flavor, large portion sizes, fantastic service, and casual ambiance, nestled in an unassuming strip mall in Gardena -- this is a hidden gem for Vietnamese food in the South Bay!

Ananza H.

I've been here before and had a great experience the first time but my experience today was so bad. I came in around 1:30 and the food is great, always fresh and hot but the service for lunch today was absolutely awful. The young girl they had working was TERRIBLE as she did not greet me and had a lackluster attitude the entire time. She should not be working here. It was like she was sleep walking, would be on her phone, and it would take her 10 minutes to do simple tasks. The kitchen was also SO slow. This is typically a place I come to for a quick service and it took them 25 minutes to bring out my pho and an extra 10 mins to bring the singular APPETIZER egg roll. Did I mention it was empty!?? There was no urgency and absolutely no one was in there. (See photos) Management needs to get serious about their customer service. These workers are making this place look bad. You can tell when the owners are there and when they aren't. Staff today was terrible and treated customers poorly. Ugh do better!

Limited bean sprouts

I think it's new owners. Now you have to order and pay before you step inside. We order the lunch special. First they brought out the bean sprouts with basil. Basil was old and the amount of bean sprouts were for 1 bowl compared to other pho restaurants. They brought out the egg rolls next then it took 27 mins to get 2 bowls of pho. There were only 2 tables with customers and they already had their order so not sure why it took so long. Pho broth was good but there was no tendon in either of our combo pho. I ate the eggroll and pho and honestly I'm still hungry ‍.

Anyone know if the dinning room is open again, yet? I stopped going a while ago, because Pho to-go is just not the same to me.

YES THEY ARE OPEN JUST HAD LUNCH THERE LAST WEEK.

Any gluten free options?

Most items here are gluten free, if you don't use soy sauce.

Can I ask for the seafood or shrimp pho with vegetarian broth?

The options are between vegetarian and beef broth here. Just be aware that the seafood and chicken pho are served in the beef broth unless you state otherwise. 😁

I'm not able to call them for some reason, but is the vegetable broth gluten free?

Yes, both noodle and the broth are Gluten Free

Is this business under new ownership?

Nope, it's still the same old us. My father and I are just working on our franchise location in West LA. So I apologize for the unfamiliar faces, but my sisters, Veronica, Josh, and the rest of our great staff are there holding down the fort. I hope…

What are the best spring rolls?

Try the grilled pork sausage spring rolls. :)

Probably an unpopular opinion because all the reviews I see state it's the best they've had and i just didn't taste that. We didn't even finish it. The worker the second time I went wasn't the friendliest either. Parking is great since it's part of a big shopping center. There's tables & chairs outside as well where you can eat, which is where my kids & I ate. Tables are shaded so that's good.

We ordered the galbi combo with spicy tofu. Soup was under seasoned and inedible. The galbi was the cheapest flaken cut you can buy at the Korean market. Its was fatty and full of gristle and was not cooked and was raw in the middle. The staff in Korean were bad mouthing and so sour working there it was sad. If you under staffed and unhappy then go to the back and scream and cuss but Why are you so sour and make sure the customers can hear you while passing by with the food and complain it's too busy ? There was one elderly lady maybe in her 80s with possibly her two daughters. They were sitting there for at least 45 minutes when the waitress came up and said I just want to double check your order that's when they realized that the waitress didn't even put their order in they were saying in Korean that please don't leave. Granny is here and we will get the food out as soon as possible and yet as they were leaving the table, you can see them with a smirk on their face. It was disgusting. The worst part is isn't actually even over there must've been a table of 20 across from us celebrating a birthday and they were there before we were and they must have been served at least an hour after us and the waitresses were so rude to them. I felt so bad for that party, but they looked so laid-back. I don't know if they really even noticed or cared. We ended up trying to pay for 10 minutes to get out of there and finally just got our own containers from the weight station a plastic bag and as they saw that we were leaving they finally took our payment Maybe this was an off night maybe there was a different cook in the back maybe they were so busy that they just couldn't pay attention to flavor any of their food or cook it thoroughly. Maybe they were short and someone called in for staffing. All I know is everyone with the prior reviews seem to have great service and food, but this is definitely not what we experienced and definitely not what the table behind us or the table in front of experienced This was by far hands-down, the worst experience. Hopefully this never happens to you cause we'll never come back.

My date and I were craving some long overdue Korean BBQ and we were in the perfect area to grab…read moresome. We gave this place a try because we were excited to see they have Rice Wine here (since most of the mainstream KBBQ places didn't have this), and we were satisfied beyond our expectations. Parking: A very small dim lot next to the restaurant. Right below the small sign that sits above it. Ambience: We came on a Saturday night (7:00pm) expecting busy wait times but we called in and there was no wait! We were immediately seated. It's a very small restaurant, the booths are big enough to fit a family but bigger parties may need to call in to see if space is available. The vibes are especially different from most bigger and popular places but this qualifies as a hidden gem for sure. Service: Quick and nice! Second time coming to a place where they cook it for you at some points and serve you. They check on you often enough and were quick to see you get all that you ordered. Food: Absolutely nothing I've never had before, we knew we wanted brisket and pork belly, we skipped out on the combos + intestine sections bc of this. Luckily our two meat combo qualified us to also receive a soybean paste soup, steamed egg, and corn cheese for free! We additionally added rice paper to our order for a small charge. The menu is vast and I would like to come back here to try their different meats. I have never had a more flavorful brisket in my KBBQ experience before and the pork belly was thick enough and had that chewiness texture that made it so enjoyable. Employee was nice enough to inform us that the soup + steamed egg are carefully cooked with real flavorful ingredients, so expect high-quality. We didn't go into this place expecting AYCE since we believe places that offer à la carte specializes in quality, so please come with the same idea if you choose to go here! Regardless, our small bodies were filled by how much food we received! Overall, I gave this place a chance despite its smaller reviews, smaller atmosphere, and a generally smaller presence this had in comparison to its competitors. I would suggest you do the same too!

The broccoli beef had a nice flavor, though I wished it had a little more meat. The chicken chow mein was the weakest dish for me: the noodle texture was great, but the overall flavor didn't stand out as much as I expected. Ordering was easy and the menu was very approachable thanks to the pictures. The restaurant is on the smaller side, which actually made it easier to get a server's attention when needed. Food also came out pretty quickly. The ambiance is straightforward and comfortable -- nothing fancy, just a solid neighborhood restaurant.
