Really impressed with this place. As the pandemic is going on, I did takeout. They were very friendly and helpful taking my order over the phone, especially with figuring out something for my toddler son to eat since he's picky about sprouts and scallions and such. Ordered the Pho Ga, bbq pork & egg roll vermicelli, and bbq chicken vermicelli. Everything tasted fresh, not too salty or sweet, and just tasted clean. The whole family enjoyed the food. The owner Loy gave us excellent service and even made us Bahn Mi (Charbroiled pork, pickled carrot/radish, cilantro, and some jalapeños wrapped in crisp french bread) to order although the dish was not on the menu. Oh it was so delicious. However, the Pho was simply disappointing. I do not know if we came on a bad day or if this is the usual taste, but the soup lacked flavor and the broth just tasted very cheap... I had the mango iced tea and it was the perfect level of sweetness and flavor. My boyfriend had the passion fruit drink and it was AMAZING! What can I say about Pho Ever.... I dont think words can adequately express the food experience I have every single time I come in here. It was recommended to me over a year ago by my bestie and I've been a regular patron ever since. It is hands down THE BEST PHO IN THE SOUTH BAY. It has now beat out Saigon Dish in my humble opinion and Saigon Dish was the spot for many years. For one, the place looks super cute. They managed to turn what looks like a former KBBQ spot into a very aesthetically pleasing restaurant with a Vietnamese motif. Their booths are super cozy and have these woven lamps that provide warm lighting. I love reading about their family history and their mission statement as I wait for my food for pick up. The employees are all very kind, attentive to all your needs and proactive about bringing water or providing food updates. The broth is LITERALLY the most flavorful broth I have ever tasted and their pho is made with the freshest ingredients and brought out piping hot. I went home and boiled my broth so it could be steaming hot. It was perfect. Flavor on point. This is now one of our go-tos from now on. Some of the best pho I've ever had! I got the shrimp pho and the shrimp spring rolls & Thai iced tea (w/ soy). The shrimp is SO fresh and cooked perfectly, the peanut sauce that comes with spring rolls is very tasty and the Thai ice tea w/ their milk alternative is amazing! Took a couple stars away because their egg rolls are a complete rip off. You get two small chicken egg rolls for $6.55. My friend's com bo luc lac was a tad undercooked, but he said it tasted just fine. My com ga nuong was pretty okay. The chicken was a bit dry and somewhat lacking on the flavor side, but the meats that come with these rice dishes are usually so. The mini Thai tea that I bought as an addition to the lunch special was good. There is a Yelp check-in deal, but you have to spend a minimal of $25 in order to get $5 off. The meat and soup are really good, not mindblowingly good, but much better than average, and it stands out as tasting different (the meat especially). The soup is flavorful enough to be tasty but not so strong that you get tired of the taste or feel bad about drinking all of it (less salty taste maybe?) It's easy to have a lot of it. I recommend it. The thai iced tea is also a little different tasting. The coffee used is maybe a little sour, rather than just bitter. I have bumped this Vietnamese restaurant to FIVE STARS, as it is "as good as it gets" for us in this part of the State! But to my surprise, there was a deep vegetable flavor, rich and flavorful. I gave this restaurant a 4 rather than a 5 star review because the service was SO slow. It took around 25 minutes for our order of vegetable pho and bun bo hue to come out. The restaurant was busy, but not so busy to take so long for our food to come out. Other customers around us were already eating when we arrived so it shouldn't have taken that long. Nonetheless, the staff were really nice and accommodating. We just assumed that the veggie pho wasn't ordered frequently and needed more time to cook? Then again, vegetables are quick to cook so I don't really understand the delay. Hidden gem in a bit of a sketchy area. When you pull up into the parking lot in front of this restaurant, it feels like an area you'd definitely want to make sure that you don't have any valuables showing in the car/make sure your car is locked.
