Heard much about cafe 86 but never got a chance to stop by this Tustin District location until now. Off the bat, the store had a great cafe vibe, chill and mellow. There's a good amount of tables inside, some stool seating near the front to watch people walk by, and a couch where you can relax with some friends. Service was very friendly when I walked in and when I order the classic Halo Halo, I could tell that they took time to make it with lots of care. First impression of the Halo Halo was that it tasted very refreshing. Despite all the ingredients inside, it was not overly sweet. The Ube ice cream had great flavor, the slush base provided that refreshness, and the textual contrast of the cornflakes providing that perfect crunch was actually the star of the dessert for me. Round it out with some flavored jellies at the bottom along with jackfruit and you have yourself a well-rounded dessert. I can see myself coming back here to try their other offerings (including their $3 special on certain teas...)

This place is located in the district. Amazing place. Reminds me of the one I went to in Vegas. The cookie butter coffee but the spit, not to sweet or bland, just right. 5/5. The calamansi juice brought me back to the Philippines. I love it. Sweet, sour, and refreshing. 5/5. The milk tea is basic, nothing special. 3/5. The churro mochi dessert, 5/5.

Located at the District, the staff were nice folks they explained a couple of items to us when we had questions. The ambiance was really nice mixed with music and they have board games to pass time by. The drinks were good, not overly sweet, and the churrochi was tasty with Ube Ice Cream. There's tons of tables, chairs and a couch inside.

Coffee after hot pot seemed like a good idea! Headed over to Cafe 86. They have an extensive selection of drinks and ube flavored pastries.

I've been to the one in Artesia too. I love ube desserts but sometimes I just don't taste the flavor much so I was recommended the Ube Truffle which was crunchy sweet outside like an Oreo and I could taste the semi- paste like ube on the inside. It was delicious! Pandan Matcha was good but nothing special. I like pandan but it's one of those flavors that is light in flavor.

Eh. The customer service was blah and the drinks underwhelming. I wouldn't care to try this place again. Looked promising but disappointed me.

I was so excited when I heard they opened a Tustin store! I used to have to drive to Artesia to get my fix. The place is cozy and I love the decor. The staff is very nice here and they really good at explaining the desserts to my friend who isn't familiar with ube. I got their upside down halo-halo which is my go-to. Upsidedown Halo-halo- This is the best halo-halo I've ever had! The base is made from ube shake which makes it so creamy and flavorful. You get a variety of jellies, cornflakes for crunch, and my favorite flan added in. So much sweetness and flavor in every bite! Great experience and I'm glad I get a place closer to home!

This is my favorite place outside of Hawaii to get yummy Ube (purple potato) treats! My favorite are the Ube Butter Bars, Ube Crinkle Cookies and Ube Brownies. I used to like the brownies better like 6 months ago (or maybe they're just making them differently now) since now they put the word Cashew in the title and they are super full of cashews whereas before it was more a soft brownie but now it's more crunchy and dry. The flavor is still good but it's not as delicious and moist as it used to be. Everything is around $5 (some $4.50, some $5.50) so it's not too expensive since the portion sizes are good and the desserts are rich so you get full quickly. When you order online (via Toast) there is the spot to select Curbside Pickup - HOWEVER I don't believe that truly is an option because I have selected that but when you get to The District, there is nowhere to park curbside and also when I arrived there was only 1 employee in the store so it wasn't feasible for him to leave the store to deliver curbside orders. Honestly, it's not a big deal (I don't mind parking and walking in) but I do wish that they would just delete the 'curbside' option from Toast since that's confusing.

This Cafe 86 is located in the District in Tustin, and is between a ton of food and drink areas. The cafe itself has a good amount of seating inside and the menu is pretty diverse, with a load of different drink options, baked goods, sandwiches, and more! I just came for a quick drink to go, but the staff was pretty nice when I went. I got the pandan matcha, and the matcha was pretty weak, and I felt like I was mostly tasting pandan, which isn't bad at all. It was still a good drink that I got fairly quickly, so I have no gripes with it not being too heavy on the matcha. Definitely would say that this Cafe 86 would be a nice stop here in the District. The concept is nice and seems like it holds fun community events, whether officially or unofficially. The menu is pretty diverse and a nice change of pace as well.

The Upside Down Halo Halo is my guilty pleasure, it's absolutely delicious and hands down my favorite dessert whenever I'm in SoCal. I'm so excited there's a new location closer to where my family lives! I've been visiting the original Cafe 86 for years, and it never disappoints. This dessert is truly to die for.

Review 117/365 day challenge When i heard there was a Cafe 86 in Tustin i was excited. I usually go to the Artesia location. I love Filipino dessert especially Halo Halo and Ube desserts. What I ordered ~ Upside down Halo Halo is the best shake drink dessert. Not overly sweet and filled w lots of jello, palm dessert and has Ube ice cream in the dessert. Love this Filipino dessert indeed. It's a must every time i visit Cafe 86. ~ Ube Bread Pudding is yummy, surprisingly light & soft chewy when warmed up/served warm.. The Ube ice cream is like the icing on the cake. ~ Ube crack cheesecake ~ Ube Butter bar ~ Ube Leche flan cupcake ~ Ube truffle ~ Hisbiscus Calamansi is refreshing, not sweet at all & has a slight calamansi flavor. Bakery is clean and nice thru out w board games and comfortable tables and chairs. Nice lighting and simple. Service is great and fast receiving the bakery items and Halo Dessert. Met the owner Derrick & Yumi, married couple. Really nice and informative of the other different desserts I've never had. Located in the Tustin of District. Next to Waygu Factory. This will be my go to for Cafe 86 bakery until the one in my neighboring city Placentia opens up! Pretty estatic for that. Gonna be literally right around the corner! Dangerous!

Cafe86 had a food truck at the Angels baseball game for Filipino Heritage Night so that was a good experience. The Halo Halo was so good. Can't wait to get more drinks and goods at this location as well!!

Cute concept. Enticing menu. Hopeful my next visit might be better. My daughter and I came to enjoy some nice drinks at Cafe 86 this afternoon at The District Plaza in Tustin. After studying their menu and looking up "popular items" on Yelp, we were excited to try our drinks. It was good! Not the best we've had. Their boba was a bit hard, I let my daughter switch drinks with mine because she did not like it much. Their desserts were pretty much empty, we could not order the dessert of our choice. The place seemed a bit messy, although the place was not extremely packed. I am wondering if we came at a bad time, because the place itself looked so cute! And their drink menu looked appealing, as well as their concept of open mic nights and board games. I would definitely come back, as I believe this place is likely better than today's visit. Still love you, Cafe 86!

Super friendly service. It was my first time here. Love their options. I am definitely coming back to try the rest of their coffee drinks.

Swiss connection is now a whopping $10.5. highway robbery it is. But the bread is still unmatched for pillowy cheweyness (hot will get u a crisped exterior so always go for hot). Carrot n Daikons baguette would be my second for bread but their bread is thin flakey fall apart outside with a more airy pillowy interior. most important. do not say no to the mustard and whatever the other thing they ask if is ok to put in. the LeDIP experience is a whole deal ok. it's all or nothing. just like it should be in normal restaurants ok, like the shirt shoes and pants requirement? all or nothing. if you went to a restaurant without pants, you would not experience the experience as it was intended. take it all or leave empty handed ok? unless you're actually allergic to something. but like are u living if you miss out on the perfect combo of savory and cutting sourness? i acquired an allergy to shrimp and once a year i'll still boiling crab a lb of shrimp and just premedicate on Benadryl hoping i don't die. oh it's so good. god it itches so bad. ah so succulent. whole experience! hot french connection- can i eat this first please? oh my god i don't think i ever appreciated the soft pillowy softness of the baguette in my younger years. the outside crust is the thinnest crisp and yields immediately (unlike Lee's Trashwiches where the stale crust cuts the roof of your mouth). Simple sandwich but sometimes the best things are the simple things. Cold Swiss Connection - the only reason i get it cold is cuz this is my breakfast & lunch for the next day. so no point in melting it prematurely. i honestly can't decide between the two, so i just get both. the difference is Swiss cheese here vs the brie in the french. update-its like 10.5 now cry. and get it hot! i was wrong! it ooooozes Parking - shared with the whole center, plenty. Payment - cash, credit chip 5, or venmo? No Pay unfortunately. Credit chip wouldnt read my card either, took 3 tries, and u need to manually hold it down cuz its not secured so....not really contactless. '26 theyve modernized, apple pay now accepted so yayy. I got there just as the order was predicted to be done, but I ended up waiting another 10 minutes, which was fine for me. It's a sparsely decorated sandwich spot, with a little bit of seating, but it's clear this is a grab-n-go type place. After picking up the sandwiches, I cut both in half and ate half of each. I can't really remember what I got, but that was kind of besides the point anyways. They offer a variety of breads, so I opted for dutch crunch and a regular french roll. The dutch crunch wasn't as good as others I've had from other notable sandwich places, but the french roll was great! I liked the construction of the sandwiches, as they were tightly wrapped and not over-stuffed. Good ratios and not too large as to not be able to wrap your mouth around it. But as for the content itself, I just wasn't blown away. It was perfectly normal, but I didn't feel anything beyond that. As a lunch place, I feel like it's a good option if you want a sandwich, but if you've got something closer to you that is marginally similar, I'd head there first.

I'd rate the Peruvian Steak an 8.5/10. The bread was perfectly toasted, the mustard added just the right amount of kick, and all of the flavors complemented each other well. It would have been a perfect 10/10 if one side of the bottom bun hadn't been completely soggy from the mustard spilling out of the sandwich. I ordered my sandwich to go, so if I had waited until I got home to eat it, I think the entire bottom of the sandwich would have been soggy. That was disappointing. For to-go orders, I think Mendocino Farms should automatically serve the mustard in a separate sauce container to help prevent this issue. My other qualm was with the pickup process. When I received the text that my order was ready, it read: "Your order at Mendocino Farms - 10 - UC Irvine is ready for pickup. Please proceed to the counter." Some restaurants have signs explaining whether customers should grab their to-go orders themselves or wait for a team member to assist them. I waited patiently at the counter for several minutes while a team member saw me standing there but didn't acknowledge me. After about five minutes, I finally asked, "Can I grab my order?" The process felt confusing and could have been communicated more clearly. Overall, I thought the sandwich was delicious and a great portion size. However, I think the to-go process could use some improvement. I ended up eating my sandwich in the restaurant because I could already see the bread becoming soggy when I picked it up, which wasn't part of my original plan.
